On A Date

Really nice fragrance, smells superbly comforting for me. The scent profile reminds me of a grape aloe vera drink that they sell in Europe, or like an icy grape vape liquid. When I smell this grape scent, it just reminds me of artifical grape flavoring. Here it is paired nicely with the rose. That being said, my experience though is that after 1-2 hours, it is barely noticeable on me. So longevity is very poor, which makes me sad as I really like the scent.

I truly disliked this scent. I wanted to try it since it has a reminiscence of a chypre perfume but it is so sweet. All I get is a sickly sweet peppery syrupy perfume that's just too much for me. There are few scents that I truly despise and this is sadly one of them.

Very underrated and overlooked. It is sweet, adorable, flirty, quirky, warm and cute. Syrupy, sugary, fruity in an unconventional way. Long lasting and projects well for an edt. My favorite fragrance.

On paper, this could have been perfect..I've been on the hunt for a perfume that smells like a date- roses, leather, smoke, wine/grape notes... this fragrance had 2/4, rare combination as it is. From the bottle and on paper it was a delight; exactly that. However the dry down both on paper and on my skin was horrendous (to me). It was sharp, astringent, overly clean + white flower scent- it did not keep any of the sweet or heavy elements that initially drew me to it. Majorly disappointed and fascinated at the switch up. So important to test on yourself.

Bit much for me personally. Didn't like it or hate it, though.

Blackcurrant and roses with a hint of patchouli and musk in the base. Bittersweet, floral, unique, mature, slightly fruity, and slightly tart. Good sillage and longevity. Feminine-leaning unisex fragrance. Well-balanced and well-blended. Could easily be an all-year-round scent.

Evoques the scent of wine and candles in a dimly lit room. Very well made and accomplished the concept in a great way !

fruity, sweet, and generally inoffensive. what's interesting is my bf seems to love this one, he rarely comments on my perfume but whenever i wear this he tells me i smell good lol

Smells like a rose bouquet, half-burnt vanilla candles, and the traces of a partner's cologne. Kind of reminded me of Lush's Snow Fairy at first spray, but settles into some spicy & herbal notes which give it a more serious vibe.

Smells like beetle seeds mixed with ombre nomade

This scent is not for me. I was gifted a travel-size bottle because it's my friend's favorite, and I wish I loved the smell because the travel-size bottle itself is so cute. I think it just has too much going on at once. Looking at the information here, it seems to include so many notes in one bottle; maybe they get muddied together. To me, it is a "grandma" scent. I gave it away.

Very beautiful! Really wasn't expecting to like this one as fruity fragrances typically don't impress me, but this smells exactly how the purple Hi-Chew tastes to me, with lots of rose and a bit of musk as it dries down. As nice as it is, for the longevity, sillage, and linearity, I can't justify $170 for the full bottle. 6.5/10!

The rose in the beginning is lovely, but after a few minutes the patchouli and vetiver emerge and that is all I can smell--no more rose which is a shame because rose is one of my favourite scents. This one is a miss for me, but if you like more masculine scents like patchouli and vetiver, you will like this.

The opening is explosive and super sweet, on my skin it smells straight up just like a very ripe peach, in a very pleasant way. Then the rose arrives, reminding me of Up at Dawn, but more syrupy instead of wet, still having some earthy notes in the last hours. Pretty good scent, mediocre longevity and sillage, which will not stop me from keep enjoying it.

One of my favorite fragrances! All of the notes work together perfectly; it would be perfect for a spring/summer outing. It’s very feminine. Every time I smell this I think of a picnic in Italy. The scent is relatively linear throughout the day, but I do wish the longevity was better. Overall I would say it’s a 9/10 for me.

Genuinely imagine this: You're sitting in in Italy, in a restaurant in the Tuscan mountains, there are grapevines stretching down the mountains bearing so many grapes that you cant even count them all. Your favorite person is sitting in front of you, you both are drinking wine, taking in the beautiful Italian scenery. On a Date, contrasts that moment, since Maison Margiela catches such different moments perfectly in its bottles. You get that smell of grapes, close as wine, yet it contrasts beautifully in its fruit. I cant say more than it has been said, I tested this and wow. For others it could be to "feminine" but that opinion differs. Is it perfect for the Summer? More for the summer evenings, its the perfect Date night scent for Spring / Summer times (Oh wow of course it is, when its labeled as "on a date"). BUT I would rather purchase, "Never ending Summer" instead of this. This scent can only contrast this moment, making it not as versatile then others. It is not Blind Buy safe, regarding its price and the "feminine" flair, yet the "vibe" it gives off is unique and interesting. imo: 7/10

A Summer scent! Chypre fruity rose. Perfect well balanced. A real pleasure ! Not too fruity, not too gourmand. Good sillage

This does not smell like grapes. Si fiori is a great grape smelling perfume. Black opium smells like grape candy.

You have to "suffer" through first hour in my case, because for that amount of time it is over matured eastern european solid soapy rose from 80s... nothing interesting, nothing genuine, sorry. Not worth buying unless you have to have every rose perfume there is. Then it shifts, probably thanks to blackcurrant to a bit dark and fruity floral undertone, more modern, usable, but it doesnt last long enough to justify the early suffering.

It's ok. It's a really lovely scent, not very long lasting, isn't a blast, you have to really do more then 6 sprays so you can dominate with presence. 2 sprays is generally fine, 4 - you get to enjoy it a bit more. rose is really nice, slight fruity feel, patchouli kicks in about 30 min. , smells really fresh, maybe like juniper or blueberry, davana is there, not too spicy, slightly musky in drydown. You can wear it day and night. Not over expensive. And it can be a blind buy if you want a fresh rosy everyday scent, it is slightly feminine but men can easily wear it.

Tested this in Sephora on a paper tester and it smelled strongly medicinal, like Vicks VapoRub for a good hour until I tossed the tester. I’m not sure if the bottle went bad, or if others have had this experience as well?

Just sampled Replica On A Date at the Maison Margiela Perfume Counter at Paragon Mall Bangkok. For any frag heads visiting Bangkok, the you absolutely must visit. As for ‘On A Date’ I’m absolutely smitten with the tester card, I can’t stop sniffing it. Exquisitely crafted blend of syrupy sweet black current, rose and musk for a warm soft skin scent, and the right amount of vetiver for the masculine touch. If it smelled on my skin the way it smells on the card, I would go back and by a bottle. Unfortunately the spray to my wrist is gone in less than 2 hours. Shame

I adore the mixture of the grape, black currant and vanilla. One of my favorites
