Oh my God, i've been looking for this fragrance for SO LONG! It was actually one of the first perfumes i remember smelling as a child, at a friend's house. His father used to travel a lot around Europe back then and had quite an impressive perfume collection, but somehow this particular smell stayed in my head all these years. That sweet, warm coffee mixed with amber is absolutely DELICIOUS, with a slightly spicy touch and a soft, woody warmth that makes it even more comforting. And to think this fragrance came out back in 1997, long before coffee fragrances became so popular! I honestly don't care how expensive or exclusive a perfume is, few things can beat the feeling of finding a smell you've been missing since childhood. I really don't think this will be a hit, a gem especially for the young ones, but at least you could buy it for such a small amount of money, like under 25 euros, you can not go wrong with that kind of price.
So my "Eau de cologne" arrived yesterday and sprayed it to my wrist. The first minute is amazing. It literally smells pancakes with whipped cream on top. Sadly, it quickly goes to coffee mode that isn't that good. I sprayed it around 9 pm and around 7.30 am when I woke up, I could still smell the remnants. What I noticed was it had turned back to the pancake mode but it was barely noticeable. If this would smell like the first minute through its lifespan it would be a "Legend". Won't be using it because of the cheap coffee scent.
I purchased Michael Jordan Legend- surprisingly I am enjoying it. I get several different brand colognes. I can compare it to the following: Givenchy PI - it is less stronger than this cologne the Jordan cologne has the strength after Givenchy PI has settled down after 20 minutes. It would be safe to say that it is between Haarlem and Rochas. My following score are 0/10. Bottle is glass and simple - 5/10 Automicer is good but cap and sprayer is cheap plastic - 5/10 Cologne aroma is good - 7/10 Long lasting 2-4 hours - 4/10 Price - 10/10 Would I purchase it again “yes” for the price you can’t beat it. You can always reapply it again.
I was looking for something similar to Givenchy Play Intense. This is the closest I've found so far.
Nice masculine scent that is perfect for fall. One of the first sporty gourmands ever created .Don't listen to the clowns calling it feminine or for the 14 genders. The perfumer created it for a certain type of man. Cope.
Oh man, this hard to find product got my attention when I first got it in 2015 and now i have in my possession almost similar smell which is coffee break by Maison Margiela.
On paper the whole waffle syrup and coffee scents in this should not work but it's one of the best the mj label has put out.
Decidedly unisex scent if you dig the listed notes. They're all there on my skin, although I wish the coffee note was more pronounced. (I need to buy New Haarlem or a few Monteil's). However: I'm getting plenty of other notes that more than compensate for the thin coffee presence, mainly: cedar, amber, musk, and the patchouli wafts about--coming and going now and again. Thankfully: I'm not getting the sweetness that other reviewers have mentioned or this frag would have immediately gone to a friend or Goodwill. (I can't do sweet in any scent, no matter how great it otherwise may be.) Not a complex frag, a bit linear--but I only paid about 12 USD for it new. Would I repurchase? No. Only because there are so many left on my want list and the price of this now isn't worth what I use this one for: around the house only as a comfort scent. This is one of those scents that I put down to "it filled a void in my collection at a low price point...back in my early collection journey." No regrets on this purchase relative to my wants vs. expectations at once a particular time ago.
opens with an obnoxious amber and lavender, little bit of coffee in the background but later it smells sweet, not a fan tho! unusual but not in the best way
it smells like men's spray deodorant or shave foam. its ok...a little bit cheap impression but not the worst. I certainly wouldn't be ashamed to wear that.
Picture Mike wearing a white dress shirt and black suspenders reading a news paper enjoying a gourmet pancake breakfast and vanilla cigar with a nice cup of coffee before he goes golfing. Darker juice smells like money to me especially at that price. One of the best cheapies ever.
The best part about going to Waffle House is watching your waitress fistfight a mother of four at 3 a.m. What am I doing eating pancakes at such an hour? That's none of your concern. Anyway, MJ Legend is such a great scent for the price. It smells like syrup and pancakes with a hint of coffee. Usually, when I get home from work late at night, I'll spray this while relaxing. It's just a nice, comforting scent. Considering all factors, this is an easy 9/10.
This is a great cheapie if you like New Haarlem. 8/10
Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 059 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased July 2017 Addictive stuff at the time I was new to it. Tapered down to no more use. It's very sweet and coffee based. That's no longer my "thing", I can appreciate sweet but there has to be some sort of mix going on. Some science/sorcery to make it literally blow your mind and senses. This is missing that dark art magic. Edit: My bottle is the deep golden coloured fluid. Really matches what it smells like and what Michael was after at the time, more luxury and gentry, less sport.
I finally have a fully macerated bottle. I bought this about a 10 months ago. At first, it smelled like nothing. Now I'm getting the full juice. It's cool. In my opinion, this is really good value, but it's not a wowzer. But I will say, it does get compliments. It's better worn for Fall season only in my opinion. It's not strong enough for the winter unless you plan on snuggling up at the crib or something, having a kickback type of thing. Outside you might catch wafts but it seems to shine in good fall weather. It smells very much like walking into a donut shop. But instead of donuts, waffles and syrup. It has a creamy, mouthwatering quality to it. It's nice. I don't really get much coffee or animalic vibes from this. I don't really even think this is a very masculine fragrance. It smells 100% unisex. If you never knew it was Michael Jordan Legend and met a woman wearing this, you would've never thought this was geared towards men. Atomizer sucks lol but I got a newer batch, I guess I'll never know what the original MJ Legend smelled like but this life Doesn't really project a whole lot but it gets the job done nor is that a bad thing. Women love this too, they always ask what I'm wearing when I do wear this. I think women like unisex fragrances on men more than the overly machismo type of colognes but I digress I'll give this a solid 3.6/5 Will be using it to layer some Tobacco centric fragrances I have on the way. I think they'll compliment each other well
Glad I own two bottles of the original, some people like this and some don't. I haven't picked up a new bottle but I'm hearing the juice is almost clear and the scent fades away quickly. The original bottles started my journey to fragrances. It's gourmand and a very different fragrance, not really a coffee shop type coffee scent, synthetic coffee I'd guess I'm smelling with amber anise lavender patchouli musk and amber. Don't know why but it smells like breakfast, like a cheaper alternative to bond #9 new Harlem. Doesn't smell like syrup but the scent has a syrupy type depth to it. Imagine MJ wearing a white dress shirt with black suspenders reading a news paper enjoying a gourmet breakfast and cigar with coffee before he goes golfing. Darker juice smells like money to me especially at that price.
I bought this as a way to smell like Bond No 9 New Haarlem without blowing through my supply. There is definitely a similarity. I do not get the maple syrup very much in this, but there is enough to do the job. Comparing this to New Haarlem is difficult, as the difference in quality is quite vast. Judging this one on it's own, considering the price point, I have to admit that it is worth buying. It is very pleasant, has that gourmand profile, and actually lasts a few hours. Overall, it is a good fragrance, the price is right, and the quality is decent.
Not a bad beginner scent. Gets comparisons to Bond No. 9 New Harlem, New Harlem is Eons ahead of this frag. Although I can see the comparison, but Bond is more refined than this.
@Mohamed Abdu and @Draydince, this has most definitely been reformulated. This is my third bottle of this that I have purchased and it is clear. It used to be a deep golden color. I can barely even smell this. This is such a shame. This was a very affordable fragrance with great performance. Now it's not even worth the price you pay at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.
My anticipation for Michael Jordan legend quickly turned to regret. The bottle's design and atomizer were the first letdowns, requiring over 10 sprays to catch a whiff of scent. What little aroma emerged was faint, synthetic, and far too generic, vanishing almost immediately. Contrary to promotional images, the juice was nearly clear, not the vibrant yellow expected. This discrepancy raises concerns about whether my bottle was a reformulation or a counterfeit. Considering its performance and the disparity with its marketing, the price is unjustifiable. I advise potential buyers to proceed with caution and cannot recommend this fragrance. I bought it from Notino March 2024.
I'm wondering if I somehow got a knockoff? I had purchased a bottle a few years ago that had a dark brown liquid and it had an amazing sweet syrupy coffee smell. I finished that bottle and bought a new one. The new one has completely clear liquid, and smells a good deal weaker and lacks a lot of that sweet smell. It's mostly lavender, and it disappears after about 30 minutes where my older brown liquid bottle would last at least 4 hours on me minimum. I absolutely loved the brown liquid. The clear liquid one I have now is just ok.
It's just ridiculously fantastic for the price. And regularly fantastic in general. Amazing deal at $15, amazing deal at $25, $40, $50 Performance is not as bad as people think, it's the sprayer that sucks. Worst sprayer in the history of bottle sprayers ever, sprays unevenly and barely at all. So overspray, and realise the performance is nothing less than average. If not pretty decent. Also its pretty versatile for a sweet one. Other than hot summer days you can wear it whenever you want (Even as an Anise hater, it dosent bother me here)
Just echoing what others have said - a wonderful sweet, syrupy coffee gourmand scent that actually lasts for about four hours on my skin. VERY similar to a more expensive scent, New Haarlem by Bond #9. My only issues, if I were to nitpick, would be that I wish it would last longer (8+ hours) on my skin because it smells SO dang good, and I found the atomizer to below average. For the price though...you can't do better. Highly recommend.
If you were a frag head in the 95-05 era this fragrance will smell familiar. It has that sweet floral note that nearly every cologne, men’s or women’s, had at the time; think of it as Eternity for men Christmas addition. It’s a fragrance that puts a big smile on my face because it’s very bright and crisp for a winter ambery scent. And despite having that Y2K dna it is also somewhat modern because of that sweet spicy coffee note. Hands down the best cheapie I’ve ever purchased. I will wear this one a lot. Edit: it’s not listed, but this has a big blast of iris in the opening. If it were not for the sweet floral base this would absolutely compete with many of the big hitting sweet iris fragrances of 2023-2024. It’s funny though because I like the surprising upbeat of the lavender hiding under all that sweet spice.
If every Hallmark Christmas movie could have a scent, then Legend by Michael Jordan would be it.
Quite good scent especially if you think of its price(15€/100ml). I don't get any coffee vibes but i get a fresh opening that turns to woody and spicy scent a couple of minutes later. Recommended for fall and winter.
Love the smell of this! Very well blended. I can see why Michael Jordan didn’t mind putting his name on this! Lasts a solid 6 hours then a skin scent another 4 hours.
I had this recommended to me a long time ago. It was never a priority purchase for me. However I did manage to spot one for $13 dollars at Burlington recently and here we are. In my mind this is a slightly less lactonic version of Coffee Break by Maison Martin Margiela. The opening has a burst of alcohol, but after that it's pretty solid for the price. It's fairly redundant for me now, I wish I would have bought this when I first started my collection.
No wonder this doesn't stay on the shelf in stores. This is a decent scent and deserves a try for the price if you can get your hands on it.
Delicious scent, edible even. Bonus for staying on skin for quite some time. Phenomenal for the price.
