Looking to sell my bottle, few sprays missing. Full presentation. UK shipping
This smells exactly like panettone in all of its Christmas-y glory. My husband and daughter apparently don't have the positive associations I have with panettone because they both hate it 😭 If it weren't for that, I would probably put this on my wishlist because the bottle looks gorgeous!
The citrus notes dissipate almost immediately after spraying. Very bready and yeasty in a good way- the buckwheat really shows through. Dries down sweet. Definitely smells like panettone but not super photorealistic. Wish it smelled less like raisins and more citrus
I HATE this… but I love Naughty Nonna… this is like an imposter that is trying to ruin her reputation by taking some commonalities and drenching them in the most artificial overpoweringly syrupy orange… I was so excited for this one and tried so hard to make it work but every time it’s an immediate NO
The bitter orange, vanilla, rum, and ginger are the notes that really pack a punch here, though I smell pretty much everything, including the interesting buckwheat note. This is not the first perfume I have smelled with a buckwheat note and I think it can be a real interesting middle/grounding note. I like its use here; it keeps everything from tipping too far into the fruity boozy territory and it's the backbone to this baked good scent. Look, I am not a gourmand fan. I would not have tried this if it hadn't come in a pack of other samples I wanted to try. That being said, it's a good gourmand. It's a little sweet, a little wheaty, a little citrusy, a little boozy. It's balanced very well and isn't just sugar sugar sugar. There's something in the base notes I don't love, though. It might be the davana. It leaves something of a synthetic ambrettolide aftertaste. I think this is subtle enough, however, that it doesn't ruin the overall scent. I don't think I will wear this again, but if you're a gourmand lover and the bready accord doesn't scare you off, you should really try this. For me, 5/10. In a vacuum, 8/10.
Oh i love this. You do get the panettone notes but it is not overly realistic. I thought this was going to be much heavier with more bread. It is yummy and very enjoyable. Lasting power isn't the greatest but you can pick this up for a reasonable price and it is worth it.
I love panettone and eat my share of it every Christmastime. That being said, unlike many of the other reviews I DON'T find this to be too literal of a gourmand fragrance. It only has a hint of something pastry/bread-like, but is mostly bitter orange and ginger with some boozy sweetness from the rum and vanilla. I actually find this relatively fresh and unisex, and suitable for various seasons. (I recently tested Snif's Naughty Nonna and that one is much warmer and more gourmand to my nose)
sweet and spicy, i'd say even iridescent. might be too literal for many, i guess.
I'm reviewing this on Christmas Eve... And it's awesome! Perfect holiday scent! Amazing, beautiful panettone scent. I smell all the panettone facets and notes... I get dried fruits/citrus, baked sweet bread/cake, vanilla, sugar, rum, buttery notes and a touch of spice. Perfect!
Touted as an uber-gourmandy scent, I had to try Panettone. It's Christmas, kids! But oh, this made me feel like the aging aunt at the gathering who wears too much perfume and gives cards with cash inside. Why is this so sweet and heavily floral? I got a whiff of the rum for a mere moment at first spray. What a disappointment!
Snagged this on sale for half the regular price, and I’m incredibly impressed. It’s a gorgeous holiday baking scent—citrus zest, ginger, warm spices, sweet breads, and almost a nutty quality. Sillage starts at moderate and slowly migrates to a skin scent, but oh boy, what a skin scent. I can’t stop smelling myself! Every time I inhale it’s the essence of holiday coziness, Christmas cookies and cakes baking in a warm kitchen on a cold day. In addition, it’s a heavy, expensive-feeling bottle with a magnetized cap (which I personally love). If you’re a fan of warm gourmands, I would highly recommend!
Very realistic Pannatone scent. I love gourmands but this is almost too gourmand. I think a stronger citrus note to cut through the breadyness would have made it a bit more wearable. Still nice though. Lingers in the air on first spray and projects very well on the opening. Dries down more subtle
Sweet, Holiday, Bakery-Fresh Panettone in a Perfume... Softly spicy, powdery-sweet, boozy, bakery aroma, bread-y, non-lactonic, powdery, ginger, a hint of cinnamon?, candied orange-peel, unique, rum cake, wheat (or buckwheat I guess)... On one hand, it smells like photo-realistic panettone, and I might be the only one but yet it also smells like perfume to me. I appreciate that there's nothing harsh lurking here. I especially like the wheat/buckwheat scent that I've smelt in some Demeter gourmand fragrances, only here there's great performance. This doesn't smell exactly like any perfume I've tested before, although there are passing reminders for me of scents I'll compare below. Although I like sweet scents, there are a few that are too sweet for me, but this one I like. That being said, if you like sweet scents, and you like photo-realistic sweet gourmands you will probably like this one too. This reads "Holidays" to me, but I agree with reviewer below that it's also autumnal. Love it. Enjoy! Contrast to Ginger Cookie Demeter: These are different, although there's similarities with a ginger-y baked good smell. Ginger Cookie doesn't have the citus notes present in Panettone. Panettone has much stronger performance. Contrast to 1740 Histoires de Parfums: These are different, but there are similarities with davana, immortelle & booziness. 1740 is more leather forward, while Panettone has more citrus forward and is gourmand, although they'd probably layer well. Both have excellent performance. Contrast to Five O'Clock Au Gingembre Serge Lutens: These are different, although there are similarities with a sweet ginger-y smell. Five O'Clock leans more masculine-unisex and has patchouli in the base, while Panettone is sweeter and has citrus & baked goods accords more forward. both have excellent performance.
It is just too sweet. Smells like winter candles from TKMaxx
I recieved my bottle. Presentation is nice with magnetic cap. The fragrance itself is mild, cinammony and bread alike, just like sweet Christmas cake. Its not lactonic, which I actually appriciate for one gourmand scent. I think its better for spraying on clothes regarding longevity. Ill test it more, and come back with more info. Edit: it is really nice perfume, first wave is panettone actually, but drydown is muuuch nicer, vanilla, not cloyingly sweet. Longevity is OK, not too short nor too long. Balanced, nice perfume.
Wow this is exactly spot on a penettone. I don’t know if I would wear this but I love my little tester. I like to smell it from time to time because it makes me giggle especially in months leading up to Christmas. Definitely try before purchasing, because it not a typical gourmand scent.
Pez candy? I love panettone the bread, but the opening of this is pez candy for a solid 30 minutes, so it’s a no for me. The hunt for a cozy holiday scent continues.
I agree with the reviewers saying this smells too foodie. It is literally what it says - panettone smell with candied orange bits. Lovely smell for a candle or reed diffuser, I'd go nuts. Not so much on myself, though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Uncomfortable extreme foodie smell. Who wants to smell like bread? This made me gag. No thanks, I don’t want to smell like a bakery. I’m getting oven bread and not a fragrance to be enjoyed and perceived on skin. This is pretty good for a Xmas candle 🕯️
It is a mistake to wear this when you are skipping meals. It smells sooo good. Man, I’m hungry. It’s creamy sweetened bread with candied orange to me. Kind of like a fruitcake but less dense and not so many kinds of fruit. Hint of ginger. Sillage starts off strong but quickly dies down and you are going nooo come back… overspray on this one
Gotta love it when a perfume house goes so absolutely literal. It's called Panettone. It smells like just like panettone. Ding dong! Big bun! Job done. Do you like panettone? Do you wish to wear it? If so, you'll love this without reservation. Pretty clever work all in all because confecting convincing bakery gourmands can be tricky - sheer sweetness alone will not do the business. Maybe the buckwheat and/or carrot seed is the magic ingredient here, because while many perfumes can mess around with citrus peel and vanilla forever and get nowhere near the cake stand, this genuinely does evoke the yeasty and floury aspects of a proper, bouncy, festive, fruit-studded giant brioche (don't kill me for the b word, Italians, but admit it - panettone belongs to that culinary family). It's almost uncannily true to life. Personally I love eating the stuff, but this is just a little too foody for me to think about as fragrance - I'd feel distracted by it if I was trying to eat anything savoury at the same time. It just wouldn't go with soup. ("This is wrong - it's not time for pudding yet...") But for those who want to go FULL BUN all day long - dig in and enjoy!
I see a lot of people calling this a Christmas smell, but to me it comes off more autumnal. My first thought was honestly Disneyland. This reminds me of the smells I'd get walking around Disneyland come fall season; getting to see the Halloween parade floats stroll past as you catch whiffs of the churro stands in the distance. A pleasant vanilla and sweet ginger, with hints of fresh baked bread and rum on the dry down, very gourmand. On second application I could smell the orange, more akin to an orange peel, but it's very on-the-low for me and I think that works in its favor. It's like a little citric helping hand to push this above just a typical sweet gourmand. Definitely not a spring or summer scent, I might have to wear this out once the weather gets cooler.
weirdly i don't notice the prevalent citrus notes as described here, instead i feel like i share the experience with some other reviewers: this is THE christmas smell, opening is atrociously sweet cinnamon/gingerbread with hints of rum and vanilla, after 5-ish minutes the scent transforms to a really pleasant spicy and cakey substance, for me it is like these glazed gingerbread pieces you get for christmas, after it dries down some more the scent still has the same feeling, but rum and spices fade away to give more space to the vanilla and cakey notes. presence is moderate, overpowering and off-putting at first couple of minutes, however it only leaves a slight trail behind after the perfume dries down a little. bonus points from my cat who apparently liked it so much that he tried licking it off my hand when he came for a hug. not for everyone, but solid choice if you are looking for a unique and sweet scent to wear in winter. feels slightly feminine but wouldn't sit bad on men, far from it, just don't try wearing it to work or during warm seasons.
Voto:💙💙💙💙💙/5
A perfect holiday scent. I can smell the Christmas party in full swing with the mistletoe, the garland, the bright tree wrapped in tinsel and the table full of spicy baked goods. Delicious.
I'm not even sure I can fully express how much I love this perfume. I burned through a decant over the holidays last year, and haven't been able to stop thinking about it - finally purchased a full bottle. You can get this pretty reasonably priced, but I would still try before you buy. I don't think it appeals to everyone. Highly gourmand - but a different kind of gourmand. Really well done citrus, slightly boozy, some vanilla (but not this highly overdone, sticky caramel type). Perfect for cooler weather, although I wouldn't attempt it in the Spring and especially not in high heat. Endless compliments when I wore it, and I literally sigh every time I sniff the atomizer. This, to me, is gourmand perfection. Still highly unique yet wearable. And yes to me it does smell very reminiscent the best possible, most delicious panettone - but an interpretation of all the most delicious elements, in perfume form. Endless love for this.
A less sweet, unisex kind of gourmand scent. It starts with a burst of rum and candied fruits, then quickly settles down into its bready, doughy vanilla and buckwheat base with a prominent spicy kick. I can't say if I smell any of the floral notes - this is definitely all about conveying that smell of freshly baked panettone. Never smelled one in real life, but somehow I believe this is a realistic interpretation, and looks like other reviewers can confirm. It even managed to disperse the notes into something resembling crunchy dark crust and soft, steamy crumb - separately. Delicious yet very wearable, and perfect for cold weather.
this literally smells like panettone. now I have to buy it ig
This is a super unique fragrance, but I didn't opt for a full bottle because it's incredibly situational, and truly a fall/winter scent. I don't get any bread notes from this, but I do get strong boozy ginger, orange, and carrot seeds. This lingers on the skin for about 3 hours. Sillage is great.
Panettone by Mathilde Bijaoui, Milano Fragrance So, I’ve decided to break out Panettone—and no, not the cake (yet). I’m talking about “Panettone” by Matilda Bijou Fragrance, and this beauty is something else entirely. To my nose, these are the notes. Top notes: Bitter orange, ginger, mandarin orange,Sicilian lemon peel, carrot seed, and davana Middle: Rum (rich, sweet, slightly boozy), immortelle, and marigold Base: Buckwheat and vanilla Now, please, don’t be put off by the buckwheat. Have a little patience—trust the process. On first sniff, it feels so good to be right. The top bursts open with lively citrus: orange, lemon zest, mandarin, and that warm zing of ginger. The carrot seed adds a nutty, spicy undertone—subtle but intriguing. The davana brings in a soft boozy warmth, setting the stage for what’s to come. Then comes that swirl of rum—warm, syrupy, gently toasted, like it’s just been kissed by flame. The florals—immortelle and marigold—are delicate and well-behaved. I usually avoid florals because they give me migraines, but here they’re like the best supporting characters: present, graceful, and not demanding the spotlight. And finally, that base. Vanilla and buckwheat. It doesn’t scream cake, and that’s the genius of it. This isn’t meant to smell like a literal panettone. It’s not yeasty or sugary—it’s elegant and evocative. It hints at warmth, softness, and richness without becoming food. It hugs the vibe of panettone without trying to be dessert. When I breathe this in, I picture a stunning Sicilian woman with long, flowing black hair and deep brown eyes, sitting on a veranda overlooking the sea at sunrise. Her espresso is already gone. There's fresh mandarin juice on the table—possibly with a splash of rum—and maybe a lemon ginger biscuit or two. Her skin glows. She radiates elegance, calm, and quiet power. She is beauty. She is grace. She is luxury. This fragrance is a masterpiece. And to be honest, I’m not even a citrus girl. I’m a die-hard gourmand—always chasing the next perfect vanilla. But this? This is hands down one of the best citrus-forward fragrances I’ve ever experienced. It’s nuanced, sophisticated, and it lingers beautifully. People will absolutely ask: “What are you wearing?” <3
