at first, this was an unusual Montale for me. it took however not long before I grew accustomed to it and placed it next to the heady rose-ouds from Montale I have. this 'apricot note' is from heaven. somehow Pierre Montale is able to do magic with his perfumes. it is confidently strong and with Intense Tiare I now have a somewhat wider perspective on Pierre. (it has always been good.) a pity is only that you have to approximately 'weigh' the flacon to judge how much still is in it. this perfume is also oh so chic. refined and yet as nostril clearing as his extrait of Black Aoudh and his 'oudless' Attar (of which I had already 3 flacons). I ALWAYS blind buy the biggest flacon, even with Dusitas 'Oudh Infini'. so also with this apricot number. I feel like a flapper on the cobblestone boulevards of Paris. as the putain I am as a homosexual man. my other favorites are Louban, Aoudh Purple Roses, Nepal Oudh.
Floral medium strong scent
Definitely unisex u can smell the florals and fruits first. Lasts quite long and projects hard. Easy to wear in high heat in my opinion and isn’t to synthetic or harsh
This was completely unexpected. Pue Gold is definitely unisex. The notes led me to think of something a little sweeter, but this is in no way a vanilla or fruity fragrance to me. It’s much more sophisticated - it’s not easy like Sweet Vanilla (which I adore). I’m glad to have Pure Gold in my collection - it’s quite different than anything else I have!!
The first wear was harsh, i regretted blind buying it, tried again after a week, and wow, it's smoother, and give a cozy feeling of white flowers even though it had neroli.. I'll let it macerate and update.
straight from the fridge one bite of an under-ripe apricot— autumn winds Hijosei Dajami akei Sessi, Early Winter and the Sounds of Dead Birds. After smelling this, I am amazed that no one has connected this to Guerlain Mitsouko and Rochas Femme. The scent lies on a continuum between the two, leaning more towards Mitsouko, perhaps at a stretch, an attempt at a modern interpretation of the classic? It lacks the sensual quality of Femme and mercifully refrains from the blinding, almost painful golden quality of Mitsouko. It retains the artfulness and old school construction of both though. This is not a gourmand scent. It is not a scent connected to any time after the 1990s. If you want Killian or TikTok popular, this is one hundred percent not for you. This is old-school done with modern materials. The apricot, sharp, sour, aromatic and inedible, hinting at that poisonous quality galbanum and angelica root both possess . The background reminds me of the slubbed wallpaper you saw a lot in the 1970s, in shades of gold and green, decorated with antique gold leaf that was designed to be admired at parties, preferably with a coupe of perfectly chilled champagne in hand. Vintage and bold, it smells like titian hair and chartreuse silk. The sillage is intense and the longevity excellent. If you are looking to find something young but elegant and old school, this might be for you.
I really don't get Montale. I keep trying their fragrances, hoping to find just ONE I like, but they all smell really harsh and synthetic to me. It's particularly baffling because I find Mancera fragrances to be of high quality; even when I don't enjoy a particular Mancera fragrance, I can still appreciate that it's well-made. This just smells like a cheap apricot candle to me. If you blindfolded me and had me smell this, I would never guess it was from a niche perfume house or the price point they're asking for it.
It reminds me of late summer evening in the South. Women wearing ponds cold cream, jasmine wafting in the breeze, drinking peach iced tea, and fireflies coming out as the air cools down. Delicate, feminine, not too soft or loud, very nice.
This perfume turns into a sweet scent after it sits on your skin for a while… signature scent worthy
Of the two apricot scents by Montale that I have sampled, Sweet Vanilla and Pure Gold, this has more subtlties with a late 80s and 90s classic edge. Think gold lameé pumps, the wet look, red lips, Hermes Fauberg 24 and perfumed makeup. Basically Grace Jones in A View to A Kill and Brigitte Nielsen in Red Sonja. Tall, gold, and fizzy like a stem of prosecco. If you are looking for a lean gourmand with pinterest and PTA meeting goals for pastry gal meetups, Sweet Vanilla smells exactly like an apricot tart.
This doesn’t smell at all how I thought it would given the notes, it smelled very harsh and masculine to my nose, with a sharp chemical edge, almost metallic-smelling. And then dried very dusty/powdery on my skin, and not in a good way. This was a total miss for me, unfortunately.
I have not yet smelled a Montale that I would like. They all seem to have this very harsh synthetic edge that irritates me. Not sure if this just incompatibility with my body chemistry or if this is just the type of perfumery that does not work for me aesthetically. Its a pass.
Reminds me of Acqua di Gio EdT.
Sweet and versatile perfume, has that perfume-y smell to it, too. Probably would want it in my collection if I didn't smell it from every corner
It smells like new vanilla perfumes. Nothing very different. But it's great. 8/10
it smells like neroli soap. that's it. a nice bar of neroli/white flower soap.
Delicious and sophisticated. Creamy apricot with well-rounded white florals. Perfect summer/spring scent. Totally unisex, and a compliment getter from my experience. I feel very expensive wearing this one. This one lasts a good 6+ hours and the silage is moderate.
I was surprise by this one. Based on the notes I thought this one would be more floral but I think the apricot comes in strong at first sniff. The dry down is very woody/musky to me and leans a little more masculine. I have to say, I would like this smell on a man. It's very bright and spring!
There is something in this that smells offputting, like something rotten or chemicals. I don't know what it is but it's not nice at all.
If you're looking for a signature everyday scent I think this is the perfect fit for that, it's so pleasant and bright, I call it my "happy day perfume" because it genuinely smells like a happy day😂 Nice sweet juicy mandarin and apricot opening followed by beautiful white flowers that settles into a luxurious clean laundry scent that lingers for DAYS, I also believe this would be great as a gift, as I haven't met anyone that didn't love it, truly a great fragrance.
My first full bottle purchase of Montale, I spent months ordering their sample boxes and various individuals from eBay so I’ve tried around 25 of theirs and this is the first one I pulled the trigger on. Strangely it’s marketed for women but as a straight man I’d say this is perfectly unisex so I’ve no issue rocking it. The apricot is the star of the show, I literally can’t stop smelling it it’s very addictive, and it has serious staying power! Don’t sleep on this gents, my girlfriend loves it on me 10/10
I could tell the apricot note before I even looked what the notes were . It has a little woodyness to it. After the apricot opening Dries down I cant smell the apricot as much and just smell dewy orange blossom trees after a storm in the calm of the crisp fresh air, so that must be the musk . Jasmine really takes over , I wish the apricot would stay. would wear it but not buy it .
i loved the apricot opening, but after that it was pure jasmine
I was disappointed in this one....came across a sample of this with lots of others but the notes sounded appealing so I was hopeful! Unfortunately, Pure Gold reminds me of that odd odor that comes from a fresh perm. Pretty quickly scrubbed this one off :-/
The cupboard under the sink. I really want to like this fragrance as it has the citrusy vanilla notes I enjoy. It is however too similar to the waft of lemon washing up tablets I get when I open the cupboard under the sink. It’s great as a fresh fragrance, as if your clothes are freshly laundered but not for a romantic date.
A really odd one. Smells like nothing to me at first then I do get the weird furniture polish/shaving creamy vibe someone else mentioned. After a good few hours it smells better but I couldn't tell you of what. I don't get apricot or anything else in the note list. The next day it smells nicer, a bit like the dry down of Red Aoud sort of, except it shouldn't. Dunno what to make of it at all.
This feels like a dirtier and less bright Amouage Sunshine, which I greatly prefer.
Got this in my sample kit from Montale. I was pretty disappointed in this one tbh. I wanted to like it based on the reviews here and the similar perfume suggestions, but even after waiting a few hours to sniff the dry down, all I'm getting is a strong "my dad is working on his old car again" smell from this one. Granted, I'm a full blown Gourmand addict - cloud, kyse marshmallow, Burberry Her are my favorites. It smelled like vintage perfume that has long gone bad mixed with a strong auto body shop smell as it dried on my skin. If you're not someone who only goes for super sweet gourmands, this could totally work for you! On me, it wasn't great or feminine :(
Pure Gold is the most classical "French Perfumery" style floral of the Montale line. Slightly green opening, big floral heart and somewhat chypre/powdery dry down. I love Montale, but I certainly don't consider it as a classy house, their fragrances are usually more about a wow powerful effect (something I really enjoy). Yet Pure Gold is pure class.
This perfume is a mix of Abricot, Musk, Jasmin and Neroli. Very nice for spring and summer. It is a fun and linear floral fruity scent (kid/senior/all), not offensive. More for woman to my opinion, but all ages. The sillage and the longevity are excellent! It is a Montale fragrance. 8/10 In this brand, for spring and summer: Diamont Flowers > Sweet Peony > Pure Gold > Crystal Flowers > Diamond Greedy > Intense Tiaré > Roses Greedy > Pearl > Sicily
