I really like this fragrance for its notes and how clearly you can actually smell them. However, it sometimes feels like something is missing, and I think it becomes even nicer when paired with another fragrance. I like adding the fresh touch of Musk Therapy or Cedar Chic. The point is that, although I enjoy this fragrance, I own other vanilla lotions and body mists that perform just as well at a fraction of the price. So yes, it’s a good fragrance, but it’s only worth it if you can get it at a great price—and if you truly love vanilla, especially that pure vanilla cupcake vibe, like I do! 7.5/10 ✨
I saw this fragrance at my local marshals and looked at the notes online and it sounded phenomenal so I bought it and returned it in the same day. Once I smelled it for the first time I nearly gaged which doesn't happen often when i smell a fragrance. If you don't want to smell like a poorly made, synthetic smelling birthday cake I highly don't recommend it. This is an insult on bakery and bakers all around the world, the name "vanilla cake" is not accurate. The name should honestly be "rotten chemical cake", because it smells like a cake that was baked by someone on a different planet that has never tasted, smelled, nor looked at a cake before, and is purely using ingredients from his lab and getting his info on vanilla cakes from 1 star reviews. if you gave me the option to un-smell this atrocity, I would happily accept. This fragrance smells like it was generated by ai that was told "make it smell funky". PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF FROM THIS NOSE-MOLESTER
It’s your birthday at an upscale beauty marketing agency where your desk is riddled with high end makeup products as your chic coworkers arrive with an adorable cake. They purchased an asymmetrical sculptural Yip Studio cake similar to the one Kylie Jenner once had. The cake is stemmed with long thin silver candles, too many to count even though you lied about your age, but your babyface justifies it. You awkwardly wait to blow out the candles and to take the first bite. The extra delicious white vanilla and almond fluff also tastes like the silver glittery candle wax that dripped all over it. That is what this fragrance smells like to me… super white vanilla almond cake, silver glittery birthday candles and expensive makeup; what’s not to like? FYI: Its rare when a cake scented fragrance doesn’t annoy me, and this doesn’t annoy me. Maybe because it surprisingly isn't as sweet as you’d expect. 👌🏻
Meringue or Oreo Cake......can't decide. slightly powdery, slightly nutty, lactonic, vanillic and smooth. I like it. But not the first time smelling something like this.
It literally smells like those vanilla extracts you can buy from the store for baking, really boozy vanilla which dries down somewhat nutty..? Definitely more feminine leaning.
It smells like generic "French Vanilla" candle you could buy at the grocery store or TJ Maxx. Not a bad scent, I don't mind a candle with this fragrance, but I don't want to smell like it.
I just recieved it. This has the most photorealistic fluffy sweet vanilla cake scent EVER. The problem is, it only lasts for like 5 minutes. Afterwards, it smells like synthetic nuts. The nutty note takes over and smells like cardboard. If the opening was present throughout the life of this fragrance, I'd love it. But since the opening is so short.....I can't really say this is a love. But I will layer this with a pure vanilla and see what it does.
It's clearly a vanilla cake...but something feels wrong...judging by the notes, I thought it would be good...I was wrong.
sour yogurt you left opened in the raging heat for 18 hours
I mostly like it, but there is some hint of coconut or maybe the almond and milk notes makes it smell like coconut which i do not like overall okay vanilla perfume with low longevity in my experience
heavily burnt caramel in an unpleasant way. though not expected, its synthetic odor makes you imagine a green color palette for this bottle, whereas it supposed to be beige- brown with gourmand emphasis
Disappointment is the only thing that comes to mind when I think about this perfume. Synthetic, candle-scented mess. So annoyed, I thought I'd love this. Sample before you buy a full bottle!
gerçekten kek kokuyor ama badem çok acılık vermiş. yanık kek kokusu üzerinizde. beğenmedim.
I recently tried a small 2ml sample of Vanilla Cake and my first impression was surprisingly delightful. The opening really does smell like a warm, fluffy almond cake. Unfortunately, that moment is short‑lived. Very quickly, the scent settles into a simple, rather flat lactonic almond note that doesn’t develop much on my skin and not much of a vanilla cake as its name. I didn’t pick up the caramel or meringue nor did I detect any of the metallic nuances some reviewers describe. Of course, every nose is different and with such a small sample, experiences can vary a lot. For context, I only have one Montale full bottle in my collection, Aoud Purple Rose, which I had 5 years ago and rarely reach for. I’ve explored several Montale samples over time but so far none of them have captured my interest enough to justify adding another bottle.
Hmm on first spray I enjoyed the realistic cake smell. But there is a note on dry down that I don’t like, and I think it is the almond. Lately, almond and Tonka bean have been enemies to my nose. I hope it calms down a bit. So far it is okay. Will return to update after a few weeks.
wayyy too sweet and pretty synthetic smelling to me. i've tried it by itself and layered it, just always pulls like vanilla lipsmackers or something LOL
I got mine in a swap so I’m glad I didn’t pay for it! I like it enough but there are way better scents to evoke what this is going for.
Honestly, it's my fault for buying this. It sounds so appealing on paper, but there is something in this perfume that is simply wretched. I tried to delude myself into liking it (first stage: denial), but then I slowly started noticing how bad it actually is. Then I thought, “Oh well, it still smells good, even if it didn’t meet my expectations” (second stage: bargaining). After a day or two of unsuccessfully convincing myself of the perfume’s pros, I started blaming myself for paying so much money for a perfume I had never tried (third stage: anger). Almost finishing my journey through the valley of dread and despair, I mourned the loss of a hypothetical gourmand that would have satiated all my sweet needs (fourth stage: depression). Upon my friends finally confronting me and telling me the honest truth that they also hated the perfume I finally decided to let go and throw it away (fifth stage: acceptance). While this may have been a harrowing tale, I did leave with a new life lesson: never blind buy.
this is a little gross to me, mainly because I had Lait de Biscuit and was expecting something in that realm. This is a bit more wearable, as it doesn't smell purely like Leibniz biscuits, but the opening is veeeery strange. It smells like apricot loaf cake. I will be testing it more and coming back with final thoughts if I keep it or not.
Really like this. Goes on verrrry baked-goods-like (as the name suggests) with a bit of nuttiness, but dried down into a lovely, sweet, creamy vanilla. I much prefer this to Vanille Absolue; I just wish it lasted longer!
Vanilla Cake is such a gorgeous vanilla! Sweet, creamy, a little cakey, a hint of the caramel but it doesn't turn "Bianco Latte". It just smells like a true ice cream like when the ice cream starts to melt in the bowl next to the piece of white cake as you're eating them together. The white cake is make with real pure almond extract and vanilla extract instead of just vanilla extract. The hint of that almond makes this perfume more interesting. Even though this fragrance is sweet, its not heavy on any frosting note so that keeps it from going into cloying territory like so many cakey scents do. To me, this is what sets this apart from other cakey scents because it does not smell cheap or like a fragrance oil or candle. Definitely a great blind buy for me! I know some say it doesn't work for their skin chemistry, but I'm wondering if people are trying it on clean skin or what if they say it smells off? It smells absolutely wonderful to me. If you like sweet creamy vanilla milky scents with just an undertone of fluffy white cake with a hint of almond extract, this one is amazing and it's a lot stronger than many of the sweet lactonic bakery type scents out there and it's not buttery, thank goodness!
Very true to the notes mentioned, I'm also feeling a tiny bit of apricot Nice, powdery and sweet
This is gorgeous. Creamy, milky and sweet. On my skin it smells like sweetened condensed milk, or even dulce de leche. I’m a bit shocked to read how others seem to react so negatively to this. Maybe you really need the right skin chemistry for this one. In any case I would not recommend blind buying!
This is one of the worst fragrances I've ever smelled in my life. It smells like a dollar store vanilla. It's soooo disgustingly synthetic, and I am extremely forgiving of vanillas because I love them so much. I cannot stress enough that you should absolutely not blind buy this. In fact you should absolutely never buy this. It's full on disgusting. I really gave it a chance to dry down, and it's giving the kind of vanilla cake that you'd throw in the bin, if anyone ever tried to serve it to you. Every vanilla fragrance that I've tried from Montale has been truly horrific.
Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. I really love Montale's take on Vanilla however there's always something else added in that ruins it for me. For example, in Vanille Absolu I loved the vanilla but there was this metallic smell. With this one, it's a bit too cake-y. The worst part is, the cake smell is kind of nutty. To me it's like a nut cake with vanilla flavourings rather than a straight up base vanilla cake. Basically, the cake itself isn't vanilla and the smell of that cake is definitely louder than the vanilla... not by much but it is noticeable. Reviews below are accurate, it is probably closer to a cake mix rather than an actual cake and it has something about it that makes it smell somewhat artificial. Still though, the "cake mix" does not smell like vanilla to me, it's nut cake mix with vanilla elsewhere involved.
like a vanilla cake mix, but with an artificial plasticky note that i don’t like :( bummed out bc i was excited to try this one 😔
Honestly, not that bad. More like an artificial vanilla cake scent, really sweet (which I particularly don't like very much), but still good and kinda unique Price: 6 (Brazil) Projection: 7 Longevity: 6,5 Overal: 6,5
Got this one the other day. Its probably one of the few Sweet/Vanilla scents Men can actually pull off without being asked if you're wearing a Womens Frag 😂 Starts off with a powerful Buttery Vanilla Smell (can be overwhelming) Then dries down to a more Rich Caramel note. Probably more suited for Casual Wear, Home, Running errands etc. Not for everyone - but Gourmand lovers will like. Price: 6.5 Longevity: 7.5 Projection: 7 Overal: 8
meh. artificial vanilla cake scent. not terrible, but something about it is a little off. an overall okay vanilla, but i wouldn't recommend it as a blind buy, especially if you don't like your perfumes overly sweet
