This smells like how a good cigar should taste. Wow, I got this as a sample, and the opening and the smoke and the mint are all distinct but blended at the same time..then it mellows to a licorice, smoky, smooth, gorgeously strong profile. On me I get more licorice and some smokiness..then eventually dries down to a soft, sweet, vanilla that isn't quite resinous..just sat out in the sun too long. Can't wait to try this in winter months.
Has the DNA of the EDT with the tonka turned up. Cant go wrong
Great Sexy coffee tonka scent Huge sillage and longevity👌
I regret spraying this fragrance over my jacket! This thing stays for eternity on clothes and it is incredibly sweet it gives me a headache and a feeling of nausea.
so incredibly delicious 10/10 - zo ontzettend lekker 10/10
Dry down is awsome😍👌
I have a full bottle with orig box & contents if anyone is interested, message me.
If anyone is looking for a replacement try lush sweet dates .
Launched in 2016 as a limited edition of the iconic A*Men line, Pure Tonka is a fragrance that easily stands out within Mugler's portfolio and, for me, is one of the jewels of the collection. Created by Jacques Huclier, this perfume is a true olfactory indulgence, full of comfort, sweetness and sophistication with a bold and addictive touch. Olfactory Impressions The opening with mint delivers a slightly refreshing and vibrant sensation, but it doesn't take long for the fragrance to reveal its true DNA: sweet, warm and deeply comforting. The lavender in the heart is treated in a modern way, not clean or herbal, but wrapped in sweet layers that soften its traditional aromatic dryness. The base is the real show: the tonka bean predominates, creamy and vanilla-like, accompanied by a touch of roasted coffee and cocoa, which add a gourmand aspect, almost like a cappuccino with chocolate liqueur. Licorice adds an intriguing, slightly bitter touch, and patchouli provides a discreet earthy base that helps balance the sweetness. Performance Projection: Medium to high in the first 2 hours. Long-lasting: Excellent, lasting 8 to 10 hours easily on the skin. Sillage (trail): Moderate, but noticeable — leaves a sweet and enveloping signature. Use Occasions This is a perfume made for cold or mild climates, ideal for winter nights, social events, romantic encounters or even for that moment of personal pleasure when you want to feel cozy and fragrant. It is too intense for the heat, but perfect for occasions when comfort and impact go hand in hand. Bottle and Presentation The bottle follows the classic shape of the A*Men line, but stands out for its shiny black rubber finish and the metallic pink star, which conveys modernity and a bold touch, a perfect reflection of what is inside the bottle. Final Score: 9.6/10 A*Men Pure Tonka is, without a doubt, one of my favorites in the line. It masterfully combines a sophisticated gourmand style with a masculine and sensual touch. It is a fragrance that embraces, comforts and draws attention, all at the same time. It is a shame that it was discontinued, because its quality and charisma deserved a permanent place in the brand's main line. If you are a fan of sweet perfumes with personality, but that are not obvious, this is a work worth every spray.
The lavender takes what could have been a promising gourmand and transforms it into a grandpa scent.
Probably the strongest scent I've ever owned. Got a bottle when it first came out and it's still only half way. A highly addicting deep, sweet, dark scent for the wearer however its potency means finding an occasion to use it is difficult. It's nuclear and not to everyone's tastes. Absolutely love the stuff regardless.
It's a dessert gourmand. That's what you're getting. Not in the same level in quality as Pure Havane or Pure Malt. I have all 3. I could have done without this one, seriously.
If anyone has this bottle available for a trade or sale, message me.
I've finally found something similar, not as good to me but close enough I ran to the little I had left to compare and it's hard to tell the difference. AMen is definitely better, but Lattfah Qahwa is almost the same scent, just a bit sweeter.
I hadn't worn this in years. I sprayed some on today because I consider it a cold weather fragrance, and today is abnormally cold. It is fantastic and easily my favorite of the Mugler fragrances. It's sweet and caramel-like, but it predominantly smells like toasted coconut to me. (If it was a Girl Scout cookie, it would be a Samoa.) I am not a modern fragrance fan. I like old school fragrances that people frequently call old-mannish. But, this is an enticing sweet fragrance.
I have a full bottle $150 old batch Ph # 806 200 3600
This one shares similar smelling profile with Pure Wood and Cuir with lavender & tonka replacing sandalwood & leather. Glad I'm able to get a small decant to know the smell instead of paying marked up price for a full bottle because it is not that unique or special.
Smells sweet and mature, also a little syntethic in the opening (which i don't find in pure havane and pure malt) This fragrance doesn't smell like designer tbh, more like niche, not for everyone The notes descriptions here seems right, I smell a lot of coffee and nutty-woody scent in the beginning then chocolate and vanilla comes later, recommended for colder weather
Coffee, a lot of it + Tonka sweetness and patchouli. I do get the comparison with Pure Coffe but PC is classic Mugler A*men, very close to the Original. I`ve smelled Tonka Imperiale (very expensive nowadays), which sets the bar very high for Tonka fragrances. Maybe that`s why I was not that impressed by Mugler`s option. Pure Tonka is still A*men, it is projecting heavy and stays for a long time (2015 batch), overall it was an awesome option when it was available but for the current prices, I`m not sure if that will be the best choice. 150-220$ for the full presentation and an old batch is a lot, but that is only my opinion. It will be hard to not like Pure Tonka, doesn`t matter where you are in your fragrance journey.
My backup bottle(full presentation of Thierry Mugler edition) is up for grab.Letting go in Los Angeles area.DM IF INTERESTED. Thanks!!!
Don't get me wrong, the scent is great, but WOW! The darkness, the depth, the strength - it's way too overbearing for my tastes. I 100% understand the appeal though.
one of the best masculine gourmands in my opinion. absolutely niche type of blend/quality with a great lasting power starts with a lovely mint accord, not just fresh but with a specific powdery quality of a fresh mint leaf. and such a beautiful lavender, not dusty but clean and refined... this duo stays strong throughout the whole composition, highlighting a sweet creamy coffee foam (yes, precisely thick golden-brown fragrant foam of a freshly brewed coffee). patchouli is given a supportive background role, together with bitter cacao and a spicy tart tonka. the latter comes forward towards the drydown changing the fragrance into almost exclusively spicy tonka mono-scent. divine in cold weather too bad it's so inaccessible these days..
This thing is eternal! I have it on my skin for 2 days and showered 2 times and it doesn't seem to come off! I will give my full review after trying it in the winter. Don't wear it in the summer, you'll definitely hate it if you do.
I've been a huge fan of Pure Havane & Pure Malt for many years and I never got a chance to get my hands on Pure Tonka until now and WOW! I am blown away with how good this is! This is Pure Havane combined with this cozy sweet cappuccino vibe, And it also has this slight booziness that reminds me exactly of Angel's Share but so much better. This is a super smooth but strong fragrance..This is the fall season in a bottle. I LOVE IT!
I can't stand tonka beans in NO fragrances, but... i gave it a chance, here is a likable combination like a dessert, you forget the tonka fluff is here, thanks god is a sweety cozy one
Smells exaclty like raw tonka for five seconds, then dries down into AMen business as usual.
A*men pure tonka sprayed this 3 times on my knuckels. the opening is strong, at first i smelled like a vanillaish mixed with tonka after that i smell purely coffee, and after that it got back to tonka again, smells gourmand. now lets talk about the atomizer and bottle atomizer is mid, its hard to push the atomizer, sprays not far, not pressurized. bottles just like any other a men flankers with star in it, the star is brownish to red and the cover of bottle is like a smooth leather ig, after 15 mins its smells gourmand frags, ill say it smelled like tonka vanilla cake or just sweet, tonka, coffee or cappucino and i also smells patchouli in it and a lil bit of lavender, and a bit of woody or smoke?? 5 or 4 hours and its going down i smelled more coffee. 9 hours and its going down. 16 hours and its gone, i still smells a lil bit tho like 10% of it or 5%. This fragrance is the BEST gourmand fragrance ive ever smell, the coffee, vanilla and cacao, making it smells like a cappucino vanilla'ish, or like a tiramius cake and add more sweet and vanilla in it, and i just felt like this is my top 5 fav frags oat. Also its smelled lil bit like "The Taste Of Fragrance A men" but with way less sweet and no chocolatey smells or maybe lataffa khamrah qahwa. for season its best for winter. for versatility, not too much its definetly best for date nights, going out at night with friends, clubbing or events not good for school or office since its a beast mode frags and will fill up the entire room. for price... i dont think its worth it. its like 400$ in ebay (the place that i only could find the frags in) its best for male the pros great for gourmand people who want a sweet coffee, tiramisu. smells like pancake. the coffe is smooth af with vanilla. its unique. its strong. the cons price. too sweet or too much vanilla. some people will smells a lil bit synthethic. the atomizer.
I was thinking to gift this one to my father as he has always used it's dupe from Dua - Purest Tonka. He is completely satisfied with that one. This time, I was willing for him to try the original one but after reading reviews, I guess the Purest Tonka seems to be much stronger and better version than original too as majority of the reviews are claiming the original scent to be powdery!
#509 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Mugler scents are all variations on a theme. The variations here are lavender, tonka and licorice. The licorice and lavender are what makes this the best so far to my nose, and unlike Pure Havane and A*Men itself, they prevent the "dad juice" vibe, at least to my nose. I really like this, so of course it's discontinued. I could even see wearing this to the office if applied conservatively. It's a really nice tonka-vanilla scent, and sadly for myself and other serving and former military, The Exchange ran out of this long ago and currently carries only Mugler women's fragrances. I just can't see spending $300 to get an unused bottle of any no longer available scent from an eBay scalper. Dua has a clone for $40 called Purest Tonka, which I cannot vouch for, and lots of decanters still sell this if you just want to experience it. And it's not like it was the last of the Tonka fragrances. I have Montale's Arabians Tonka which suits me just fine and answers my tonka craving. I would suggest you give it try before chasing down this Mugler scent and dropping $350 to get it from a sketchy eBay seller.
