Why this beautiful fragrance was discontinued is beyond me, indeed that applies to most Mugler fragrances that seem consigned to history. This isnt as in your face as some of the A Men line but still has personality and character and the notes are blended superbly. How gorgrous fragrances like this are no more yet metrosexual rubbish that is peddled today is still available is beyond me

I mean it's alright definitely leans winter and maybe this is just me personally but all I smell through the opening is the alcohol its only until the dry down I can somewhat see the notes provided on here would I get again? probably not

Here are the real notes from the brand, no licorice or any yada yada, fix your noses everyone.: Top: Fruit Notes and Rhubarb Heart: Sequoia and Spicy Notes Base: Amber and Vetiver It definitely smells like a flanker of A*men and at the same time it does its own thing. The opening is burnt caramel, woody, and sour with that rhubarb note. As it dries drown you still get a little sweetness and more of the woodiness but in the way of vetiver and less of the sequoia note joined by fresher accords. One of my favorites because it doesn’t smell like anything else and it’s not vanilla heavy like Amen. This is the lone wolf f boy and not the life of the party. Something also in the same vibe, Memoir dHomme by Nina Rocci, now modern available these days: Oud for Greatness.

This is Thierry Mugler’s unique take on a classic men’s barbershop scent. What a brilliant take on this scent profile! Mugler’s penchant for over the top-ness is here, no doubt. Anise, leather, cedar, patchouly, and vetiver have all been used before in classic men’s barbershop colognes, but this stands unique with licorice accord amped up and rhubarb to give it a juicy tartness. My bottle is 10 years old, but still it’s going as strong as ever. I can smell it on me the next day and the dry down is heavenly. I know chasing discontinued since is a bit of a gamble, but if you can find a bottle of this and love the barbershop profile, I would get it before it’s gone forever!

@MrMrBrain. im absolutely agree. this is one of my special perfumes in my hundreds of niche and designer perfumes collection. its superior at its time very unique that not resemble any other fragrances. spicy green earhy and liitle sweet. this is the gem so that I own three full bottle inmy wardrobe.

I just got me a bottle of this from a seller who offered me a price of what a new release 100ml Amen bottle would cost in this this day & time..These flankers got me started collecting fragrances & when I discovered ebay. Oh Boy!! I had 2 & a half bottles of em all!! One for the house, One in the gym bag & in the truck console lol!! But always thought this one sucked..Till reading reviews after all this time & thought I’ll like it now & just recieved it & have it on as my scent of the day..It’s good & I do like it & Could just be the level I’m at now, But can see how it survived & stayed in production so long, But at the same time, Also why it was never really special. I mean any & everything has a few hardcore followers as I’m sure this does..But there wasn’t ever the flooding of both men & woman out raving over this one..& knew I was taking a chance on purchasing this in 2024 on a whim, After all these years, It’s ended up with my stamp of approval..All the sweet sounding notes listed only to make it hardly not sweet at all, Is not only talented, But a genius move in my opinion. On my shirt 10+ Hours later I smell cocoa powder, But again the kind you cook with that’s non sweetened..It has a freshness that all those winter flankers never did give..I’m kinda kicking myself for not being smarter and spending my money towards some other sought out parfum on my wishlist far more superior to this one..But in the end..All good

B*Men is amazing. It has a fresh, strong, and spicy opening that tickles your nose, with a little sourness, slowly getting sweeter but not like A*Men , It Is a different kind of sweetness. In the dry-down, I get excellent woody/spicy sweetness. Earthy patchouli. I`ve expected it to be dated since it was made in 2004 but I was so wrong, it`s a beautiful composition. Taking a front position in my A*Men collection.

Just picked this one up after sampling in a store. Unique fragrance. When I first smelled it, I got a distinct burned rubber smell...but there was something nice about this fragrance. I am still testing/experiencing this but the opening through the mid smells strongly of anise/licorice but also of chocolate (patchouli?). The dry down brings out the Mugler DNA. I was spraying too much at first and it was overwhelmingly strong. I'm now going very easy on the trigger. I have yet to wear it out of the house. Definitely a cool/cold weather fragrance. Very unique fragrance. You are making a statement when wearing this. More to come....

#523 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I like this scent enough to buy it a scalper prices except I won't buy from eBay sellers after some bad experiences with both a seller and eBay's false claim of satisfaction guaranteed. But this is another Mugler scent killed by Loreal that deserved to live. It's a much more grownup scent than A*Men and one of the better sweet-woody gourmands I've tried. Sadly gone.

I've always liked this one better than "A Men". More serious and not played out like the original. Anyone else get the ghost coconut note?

B men is a nice attempt to play with A*Men DNA in a more fruity way. A bit weird since Rhubarb is not an easy-going note. I personally like it but it's not as good as the older brother. It dries down quickly and became a skin scent with a good longevity but with soft sillage after an hour. Unique but not aomething that i would miss much. Pretty versatile actually. Because of his softer sillage, you can wear this everytime. Not the best choice for summer, obviously. But on summer nights, could be a good night out scent. One of the first Nagel's masculines. A proof that she was always touching new grounds.

Was able to obtain a 30ml Bottle through Maxaroma. The opening of this is an aromatic, spicy, sweet anis. Very nice and it opens up strong. Once it dries down it becomes a classic soapy fougere. Definitely on the mature side. Honestly u think you can get away wearing this in the spring/summer easily.

Thierry Mugler B*Men is an incredibly unique scent, but it's an acquired taste. It comes across as thick, tart, spicy, and very masculine. The opening tartness is probably from the rhubarb note, similar to what I smell in John Varvatos Vintage. Overall, I liked the scent but versatility was low as this was predominantly a cold weather scent. I ended up selling my bottle because I would get a strange "body odor" note from one of the spices which I really didn't like. The closest modern scent I can compare it to would be Paco Rabanne Ultra Red.

This is the scent that got me started on my fragrance journey. I’ll always have a bottle on hand and was upset to see the brand get bought out. Watching the prices skyrocket on bottles previously around the $120 mark to $250+ is a definite bummer too.

Found this Beauty by accident on a moms & pops frag store. Saw that they had refills sprayers at $30. USD a pop! Bought all 3 in a jiffy! No regrets as it has become my daily scent amongst 60 frags that I have lowered down from 200 plus through the years and have only kept that ones I love. The notes I like the most in the composition are the anis & licoric as they stand out the most and less I forget it has that Amen note deep buried in the background. I’ve gotten the most compliments with BMen, thoroughly enjoy wearing this Discontinued beauty! Luckily I’m blessed with 2-3.4oz backups…

I enjoyed sampling this. The sweetness is appealing and it’s a scent without rough edges. But I found it more fruity than spicy and I have several choices in both those categories. This also goes too soft very quickly and it’s frustrating to get the right strength through a day of wearing.

I received this today after reading the reviews. It is indeed a lovely fragrance and to be (a fragrance collector) is a hybrid of three fragrances. It has a touch of A Men, a touch of Lolira Lempicka au Masculin and the wonderful (but long gone) Escada Casual Friday. This is a very well done fragrance. The closest possibly available to this now is Lempicka Au Masculin Fresh or Mauboussin (purple juice). I think these will get you the closest to this.

Yes this is different than A*Men, which I like more, but B*Men is pretty good in it's own right. Whereas A*Men is what I describe as a bowl of chocolate, caramel, honey and cat pee (in the best possible way) - or "an early pissy gourmand" as I like to describe it, B*Men's woody, patchouli, earthy and balsamic accords ground the sweet spices, anise, vanilla and "sweet" accord in general. Its sweet but the earthiness never let's the sweetness gain full control. It's well balanced, I guess. Now, I've never smelled rhubarb, which this fragrance evidently has. But I did a little reading on that note and its evidently a pretty complex one that can manifest varied facets. So maybe the greenness and herbaceouseness more evident in this flanker is at least partially attributable to the rhubarb note. Doesn't perform as well as A*Men but all in all a good fragrance. Update: I just bought a bit of rhubarb to smell. Not much to smell. All I get is a very slight, kinda off-putting smell. Hard to describe. Not really green or herbaceous. Maybe a bit earthy in a weird way. But in no way sweet or fruity. I kinda think maybe I smell just a bit of it in B*Men, or maybe just its influence. Or maybe I can imagine a bit of it is in there in a controlled way. They need to put the rhubarb note back in the list on this page.

I wish i could return to that times when scents like this has just been released.....so many good perfumes and so many good memories baxk then. Nevertheless back to the review.... It s very weird at first sniff(at least for me)... I have a problem like this with almost all mugler s man scents... It s very complex and it s rotating around licorice.... Spicy, sweet and i can bet longlasting as well (reviewed from sample)... Since mugler died i don t believe that his creative department (usually useless idiots, same with guys from marketing) will release smtn great anymore.... Such a sad times for perfumes...

50ml bottle that I just got today. A true hidden gem. Its unique, special, and warm. Spicy licorice with a softer drydown that's very sweet and elegant . Love the sugar crystals floating around the bottle. 8/10. scent Projection is very decent. Wish it lasted longer

@dmbfaninmass I have an early rubber flask bottle, just opened it for the first time, and it also has white bits that look like sugar or crystallization that sink to the bottom. It smells fine to me (and performance is good) so I think it’s normal especially if there are certain natural raw materials used.

B-Men is a tricky fragrance to pin down and enjoy. That initial spray can put you off with the opening notes of licorice and anise. Those two notes swirl around and hit you almost like a glass of Pernod Ricard. The opening eventually gives way to some earthy patchouli and vanilla. There is almost a dusty effect when the spices begin to kick in, which adds another nuance to this fragrance (it really is an odd in a good way scent) and definitely makes B-Men more fun to wear. Finally, the vanilla kicks in and this fragrance begins to harmonize. The mid gives us a sweet spicy pain d'épices accord with the musk and vetiver in the background. As B-Men dries down the cedar makes it's appearance to give this fragrance some warmth and added muscle. This is a nice fragrance for the winter and fall rotation, but wear it on your own time, it takes some getting used to and when you fight through that opening you are rewarded with a helluva dry down. Give B-Men a few sprays when the winter rotation has given you tobacco and rum nose fatigue and you need something strange for a change.
