Indian body odor. Stay away from this stench!

Smells like a sweaty undershirt with mild hints of desi florals. Sensual. Very long lasting.

Sex the French way, rushing home after work. Unwashed crotch, fresh sweat and a bucket white flowers next to it. In a bottle. Fascinating indeed.

Salome came to me at a moment when I've been trimming my fragrance collection, to make it compact, keeping ones which really resonate with me. I've been looking to add one vintage with animalic nuance, a genre I haven't been to much. I've sampled many such, but Salome came as entrancing. Even though vintage in its narrative, it transcends time. It's theatrical without being overwhelming, boudoir yet being equally sensuous for men. It's one for your experience, if you know you know. @NoisyNonsense gotta love Marlou. Salome by Papillon and Poudrextase by Marlou are both tremendous. I also love Mad Madame by Juliette Has A Gun, but as it has been sadly discontinued, Poudrextase is a worthy back up. Salome, however, is the ultimate diva. Roll on Autumn so I can wear her again.

Was a little afraid/curious to try this one because the hyrax note but omg i love it. Perfect amount of skank. I think its much milder than its reputation. More powdery than I would of guessed. Reminds me of Marlou fragrances

There's a lot of wild rhetoric about Salome, but I find it interesting and inoffensive. The citrus in the opening combines with tobacco to make the top notes sparkle. As it dries down, however, an increasingly soapy, floral, aldehydic accord comes to dominate. Yes, there's something slightly raunchy in the base, but it gives the fragrance a nice warmth and never becomes off-putting. Decidedly feminine, befitting a mature woman who's sexually self-assured.

Great review below, and nothing I can disagree with. Fantastic experience, this scent, from either perspective. Seeing as how you're popping (lol), I'll award you a balloon! 🤪

I was recommended this fragrance when looking for a skanky, dirty musk and it did not disappoint! If you love that dirty, skanky, sexy, intoxicating, animalic musk, then this is for you (I'm going for the queen of adjectives here, smutty, freaky, adventurous, spicy and can't forget SAVAGE)!) I despise leather notes in fragrances but I can't really detect it in this one. For those who dislike animalic musks, this will likely come across as fecal to you, so I'm saving you the hit to your wallet if that doesn't get your bedroom mojo poppin'. In terms of projection, far and wide; in terms of sillage, eternal. I had this on for 23 hours and it was still projecting fairly strongly when I went to sleep 16 hours later. When I woke up, I sniffed my wrists and it was still easily detectable. After my shower, I could still faintly smell it on my wrists, so it's pretty nuclear and damn good value for money. Definitely a unisex fragrance, and as a female, I intend to rock it day or night, summer evenings, winter days/nights, and everything inbetween. I don't quite get the "reminds me of Bal a Versailles" association. I own Bal a Versailles as well and yes, it's dirty but more like L'Heure Bleue. Salome is more similar to Musc Ravageur, Unspoken Musk, and Sacred Scarab and Civet by Zoologist. This definitely evokes one of those "How YOU doin?" 😉😉moments by Joey from Friends, and that's the fragrance speaking to you, not the person wearing it LOL. This fragrance is the type that undresses you with its eyes, and unabashedly teases you with flirtatious remarks. After it has finished toying with you, it pursues you aggressively with bold, explicit advances. It doesn't give a fuck—it wants what it wants. Those carnal desires are what drive the beast within! As the receiver of the attention, you'll have a firm understanding of the difference between attraction and forevermore, and the latter isn't up for consideration. In the words of Saving Abel 🎵I'm not in love, but the sex is good🎵 NOTE: As the wearer of the fragrance, sit back, say nothing, do nothing, relax and enjoy yourself, and let the fragrance do the talking. Quiet confidence and Salome are your secret weapons 😍 10/10 for me.

The more I test out animalic profiles, the more I realise my tolerance for it isn't as low as I thought. I get no barnyard or pissy accords. No this...smells like in between a sexy, sweaty, tan woman's legs. Smells like you just had a rendezvous with said woman and now you're driving home with her scent still on your face and her taste still on your tongue. I admittedly do not have what it takes to wear this scent as it would wear me and toy around with me, but it's sublime, it's artistic, and if you're truly serious about perfumery as a hobby you must give Salome a try, just once.

Smells exactly like being in the crowd of aunties at an indian wedding. This is the exact smell of their perspiration, and respective perfumes and body odors mixed with the indian clothes which somehow retain this blend and diffuse it - literally like a scent diffuser. This is a very specific, smell I've consistently smelled my whole life. --- So I do like it. On to the thoughts. It is quite delightful once I get across the scent memory the opening brings ^ and now that we've arrived, there's the acknowledgement that in my adult age these are allllllllll my favorite notes found in vintage perfumery. Yum. I sniffed it on a tester strip but I'll have to report back once on myself... Definitely reminiscent of shalimar to me. There is more darker body with the tobacco. YUM! I think this may be tea some may not be ready for - but I feel like this is what Boudoir lovers think they're describing when they describe that perfume. trust me I love boudoir down - but this has the same carnation rose tobacco etc with actualllll animalics....OG boudoir did not have any animalics (right?!) but somehow gets described as such. This is that girl. --- not these edits...Ok update now worn, above was sprayed in air. This is an utterly erotic perfume worn and this was a utterly divine on me. I'm in rapture with my own scent. This is going to sound weird but it reminds me of my chilhood when I had this obssesion of smelling my mother’s wore bra from the 90’s…In few words, warm powdered hooker tits.

I have a reasonably good nose for leather, including the warmth and sweatiness of castoreum. But get very little to no leather and zero smoke from Salome, which is one of my favorite fragrances of all time. Instead, I get a dense floral oriental, rich with jasmine and dripping with mildly animalic amber. The sweet hay and austere, dusty Oakmoss come through. It lasts forever and the cumin adds a touch of healthy sweat to the stickiest, richest jasmine-animalic amber accord I’ve ever enjoyed. It may be a floral oriental with only bitter dusty endless Oakmoss Chypre elements but this is not a leather smoky Chypre at all.

Анонім★★★★★

I don't know if I got a bad sample from Lucky Scent or what, but I get zero florals or citrus the way people are going on about. It's very animalic/musk and kind of sharp/dusty. It does smell something ideal for a sophisticated woman somehow but it's not overtly floral whatsoever.

Eau de cologne version would be nice

Lovely stuff, sexy, seductive, describes this one well. 10/10 No question in my mind. Masterpiece you ask? YES Pretty addicting juice.

I went from: " What the hell is this? to " This is amazing! I really enjoy this for me. It is more of a vibe than a fragrance. It's a little dirty and naughty, but in the best possible way. I sample a lot of fragrances, but buy a very, very few full bottles, but this made the cut. It is very special. You need time to understand it, but once you do, I think you will love it. I just wish the damn cap was not so flimsy.

This one might make you fall in love with the note of Jasmine. That is what I get with a delicious notes of Mandarin and Bitter Orange. Nothing barnyard about this one to me. Just a masterpiece cleverly crafted scent that everyone should try. Really really like this creation by Papillon. Bengal Rouge I heard is another great offering I need to try. Highly recommend this fragrance. 10/10 for has everything I want in a fragrance. Smell 10/10 Silage 10/10 Longevity 10/10 Just got this one recently but I know if I keep wearing it I will get compliments with it. The smell for me is very addicting. Love the bottle design and the smell to my nose is Sublime.

Someone knows what a barnyard smells like and captured it. All those years playing in a hay loft. Slinging cow pies at my sister. This one speaks to me. Almost love, but for now like. Fills a room quality. Also very floral, but also hay and horse level. Piss notes at beginning. Poop notes later. In the background of course.

Just got this in today 03/31/2026. Wow this one is great. Beast mode, let it dry down for 15-20 before you rank it. I love the bottle design, it's simple and elegant similiar to Roja Dove This is one of the very special ones you can smell off yourself This one radiates off your skin, with very high Quality Ingredients. To me a get a dark beautiful sweet very rich and sexy Jasmine mixed with the Bitter Orange and Mandarin, mixed to perfection. This one is blended very well, with just the right amount of animalics, honestly you don't smell them mat all, just a great blend which creates a very unique smell unlike anything I have ever put my nose on, a smell that has got me hooked and wanting more from this house. I pick up a slight faint Coco Cola accord with a Freshly Squeezed Cold Orange juice, which I think really makes this one smell good, very happy with this purchase. The Jasmine in this must be Sambac, because this has to be one of the best Very Rich luxurious mix of Opulent Jasmine that has ever been made. You really can't go wrong with this release. I do not see anyone not liking this. would love to buy more bottles from anyone that is selling them. I have not seen any bad review of this fragrance yet. To me this one is addicting, I keep wanting to smell it more. I kept smelling this one, walking outside and then in the grocery store, thinking, if I can smell this off myself other people have to be smelling this and probably did, but no one said anything, it's just depends really, you have to be in the right setting, office work type environment, is where you will likely get most of your compliments. Very few fragrances have the ability to be smelled of the person wearing them but this one you can do just that which makes it in my opinion much more valuable than many others on the market. It's definitely one of the Gems out there that most have not had their nose on. I thought I was going to return this one, you have to be patient give this one a chance, go outside, go for a walk, maybe the gust of wind will help you enjoy it. Salome is sticking to my skin and it's an absolute pleasure to smell. Spend a little more, save up if you have to, and get something realy nice, or sample first. Only seeking beast mode masterpieces 10/10, and Papillon has done just that with Salome. Definite masterpiece here. 10/10 For me, looking to try other offerings from this house, with Bengal Rouge in Mind.

I want to be honest with you about something. The first time I smelled Salome, I put the cap back on and walked away. Not because it was bad. Because it was too much of a thing I wasn’t sure I was ready to be confronted with at eleven o’clock on a Tuesday morning. Liz Moores was inspired by a 1920s photograph of an erotic dancer. She wanted, she said, to take the fragrance to the point of everyone’s safe word. I do not think she was exaggerating. Salome opens on hyraceum — crystallized excretions from a small African rodent, which is a sentence that should not make anything smell beautiful and yet — alongside castoreum and the kind of jasmine that has absolutely no interest in being polite about itself. The cumin arrives like a fact you cannot unknow. It smells like skin. It smells like the specific warmth of someone standing very close to you. It smells like a decision you are about to make. And then, over the course of an hour, it becomes something else. The chypre structure underneath all that carnality asserts itself — oakmoss, patchouli, birch — and the whole composition settles into something that is still unmistakably sexual but now also ancient and controlled and extraordinarily beautiful. The drydown is the best part. I would sit in a room all day waiting for Salome’s drydown. That is not a sentence I say about many things. A warning: this fragrance behaves differently on different skin. On some people the cumin is the whole story and it ends there. On others — and you will have to find out which one you are — it does what I described above. It is worth finding out. Just maybe not at eleven o’clock on a Tuesday morning.

Carnation, dark florals and pronounced animalic notes. It opens in a way I didn’t expect at all - it immediately took me back to my grandmother’s L’Air du Temps (Nina Ricci). A dense, floral, vintage style that felt familiar. Interestingly, they share several notes, which made the comparison feel less random than it first seemed. But then it shifts. As the florals recede, a much more challenging side emerges: animalic, bodily, raw. Skin, sweat, fur, ambergris - everything starts to surface in a way that feels almost confrontational, even slightly unsettling. It gives the impression of older perfumery traditions, before modern restrictions softened these facets. I found myself wondering when I would ever wear this, and couldn’t quite come up with an answer. While I deeply respect the artistry and Liz Moores’s creative vision, this leans more toward olfactory art than something I would personally wear. Not for me - but a brilliant composition, and likely perfect for the right person.

Violet-carnation retro applied by grandma just before leaving for an early evening theatre performance, thick gold jewellery dangles around her neck and on her slightly withered forearm, but who would spoil this joy. Taxi drops the lady off in front of the theatre bar, she gratefully enters an old smoky cafe, chairs with dark red fabric covers emitting stale cigarette smoke, solid orange soaps in plastic nets in the toilets attached to the soap holders so that visitors don't take them home...although I honestly don't know who would steal this here...much more cigarette-sour vintage than sexy, a little tacky, definitely not wild, witchy or carnal.

SALOME: 2015 VS 2025 I was very scared to start this comparison. I had been wanting to leave the small sample of the current version aside until I found a certain courage....because you know 10 years is a lot of time (in perfumery is almost a geological era) and reformulations are inevitable. Apart from dilution or the use of lower quality materials, three are the tricks a perfumer may perform: a) simplification of the top notes with the deletion of the challenging ones b) to abbreviate the heart of a fragrance, usually when expensive floral are involved c) saving on the base materials when they are no longer available (or severely regulated) or when the perfume producer want to save a buck or two. And so I have seen many destroyed scents (some were reviewed here in their original andchanged formula)... you can imagine how fear I was while spraying my bottle of Salome on the left arm and the sample on the right. And then...then the RELIEF. Yes, my untrained nose did not detect any difference; the sane treatment of hyraceum, the samde amount of cumin, the leather..that gorgeous vintage orange blossom mix to that fiery carnation, the same use of civet. Salome 2025 is as rich, sweet, spicy, floral, musky, and above all, alive as the original. IG @alexolympia6

Well said, Johnny_Utah........ spot on. This is a hot, sexy scent.

Анонім★★★★★

Oh boy, this is really something. I understand the references people make to this smelling pissy, but if for just a moment you can look past it being something nasty and consider the intention - warm bodies, underwear soaking wet with anticipation. Hot, sweaty lovers entangled in a beautiful embrace; the desires of forbidden love culminating in a lustful exchange of sweat, bodily fluids and passion. The eroticism moves this away from simply smelling dirty and pushes it into something complex, provocative, and deeply sexy. There is no subtlety here. This is pure indulgence that owns any room it walks into. Jasmine that doesn’t flirt with being indolic, but instead embraces it completely, combined with sweaty cumin, an overdose of absolutely filthy musk, and an abundance of smoke that amplifies the already animalic nature of what is quite possibly the best indie release to grace us in the last ten years. I said what I said. What a fkn perfume.

Анонім★★★★★

A really good, classical-leaning musky floral. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it doesn't need to when it's so well-executed. Its clever use of animalics and spices is rare to see in modern perfumery and such a breath of fresh air, it truly builds a remarkable aura. I don't smell any gimmicky overdose or anything too challenging for its own sake; it's warm and inviting even through its difficult facets. I find it a bit more accessible than its reputation suggests but you have to own this. If you do it's truly the gold standard animalic musks.

Анонім★★★★★

pissy flowers - i enjoy animalics but hate the floral direction. cumin is pretty potent here, and it has a quality that reminds me of my favorite incense.

Анонім★★★★★

I think I appreciate this more than I actually like it. It’s delightfully vintage without being an outright rip off of a classic scent. Animalic, rich, full of depth. This really is well blended. When I first sprayed it, it reminded me slightly of Imperial Leather soap, but burying my nose into my wrist, there’s no denying that dirty, saucy spirit. I can’t say I agree that it smells like BO or piss or sex like all these comments. But I’d be fearful to wear this in public just in case! To my nose the tobacco comes through a lot and I actually pick up on a honey note which isn’t listed.

Анонім★★★★★

Im not a fan of animalics but this one is a true gem, my boyfriend thinks it smells like unwashed butt, but I think it smells like powdery tits…lovely.
