Respons to kyanmrtz : Perfumes react differently on different people. You should always test a perfume before buying it; it doesn't matter if everyone on YouTube claims it’s the best perfume in the world. On you, it might turn out to be the worst one you’ve ever tried. I’ve made that mistake myself (it makes me sick to my stomach to think about how much money I’ve spent on perfumes that didn't work well for me). Since switching to niche fragrances, I always buy a 2ml sample first to test them out. This perfume is among the top three I’ve ever tried—I get compliments all the time—and I can hardly wait for winter to arrive; it’ll only get better then. It’s a shame it didn't work for you, but try buying small sample tests of the ones that sound promising for you and see how they react with your body chemistry. You never know. I have tested many many extremely popular perfumes, and they smelled like cat pee on me.

I have to stop blind-buying fragrances. I genuinely don’t understand the hype around this fragrance. It is far too sweet, synthetic and generic for me. The overloaded sweetness completely dominates the scent, and the only other thing I can pick out is a strange rubbery, synthetic odour that I find unbearable.

At the moment, Althaïr is my favorite fragrance. It has impressed me more than any other perfume I've tried. To me, it smells like a beautiful jasmine green tea paired with high-quality cookies. It's never overwhelming or cloying. It perfectly balances sweetness with a fresh floral character. That's why I enjoy wearing it both during the day and in the evening throughout the summer. It has a very clean, fresh, and gently sweet scent. It's definitely the number one fragrance in my collection.

It must be my skin chemistry that's the problem, because I haven't seen a single other person say this, but this shit smells like straight up olives on my skin. Like photorealistic olive. It's a no for me.

A runaway success for PDM, I was expecting to find it okay, but it exceeded that easily. It is simple, but it’s executed to an incredible degree. Take the vanillic base from Layton, remove the aromatic elements and push it forward with gourmand and white floral tones, it’s pure zeitgeist perfumery but they nailed it. The bottle is very ugly in colour, the price is too high, the clones and designer alternatives are solid. But althair does definitely command the attention it receives. A

such a beautiful spicy gourmand scent without being too spice forward. cinnamon note ie beautifully blended in without being too loud, this is a perfect unisex fragrance for the fall/winter time. Good sillage, longevity is ok.

beautiful spicy vanilla - doesnt smell too dessert like, doesnt smell too smoky either. great for a first niche perfume as its extremely likeable and easy on the nose.

I ended up buying this as my winter fragrance. My goodness, it’s so good; my wife wanted to try it herself, and now she wants it too. I keep telling her it’s absolutely out of the question for us both to wear the same fragrance. Now I have to hide mine, and I’m being pressured to buy another one for her—she’s currently looking at Delina or Valaya from PDM... which means I’ll be broke soon... They market this as a men's fragrance, but I think it should be unisex. Regardless, my philosophy has always been: wear what you like, no matter what.

This was my very first niche fragrance. It opened my eyes and nose to appreciating the experience of a fragrance journey. I haven't worn it in months but can't wait to start wearing it in the fall! I often reach for it just to pull the cap and get a whiff. It is comforting and cozy to me, and it makes me feel warm and sexy. For a more feminine feel, ill pair it with Creed Eladaria. Since purchasing this, I've collected so many vanilla woody perfumes that its hard to pick this one over those. I love PDM though, and will start wearing it more when the weather cools down. This definitely projects for an hour or two, and then lasts very long on skin, 6-7 hours or so. Im not sure if I will repurchase when im out, if I ever run out.

In general, vanilla is an incredible note in perfumery and, in my opinion, among the most complimented and attractive scent profiles. Now, don't get me wrong, Parfums de Marly's Althaïr is a beautiful fragrance; it clearly uses high-quality, airy, and well-blended notes to achieve a soft, smooth finish. However, the lack of a prominent woody or amber base, combined with the heavy use of orange blossom (traditionally viewed as a note in women's perfumes), makes it way too feminine for me to wear. I quite like the scent itself, but it ultimately doesn't fit my personal style or how I want to express myself.

Review #6 - PDM Althaïr Realistically, this is the smoothest smelling 'thing' i've ever smelled. VERY similar to PDM Pegasus, but swap the almond for a smooth orange... Very mass appealing. Very. I often reach for it whenever I want something that will calm me. I can fall asleep with because ITS THAT smooth. I don't see how someone could dislike it. Unisex, smooth, orange, vanilla, slight cinnamon. Projects moderate, but lasts on clothes for a minute.... Especially cotton. Really, really nice scent. Scent: 9.2/10 Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 7.5/10

Honestly? PDM has an extremely distinctive scent DNA, which is also present in Delina and Valaya. It’s a sort of rubbery synthetic odour that I find unbearable. Everything smells/stinks of Delina to me, and I can’t stand it. I understand the concept behind this fragrance, but to me it smells like a bouquet of sweet, synthetic flowers. No bourbon, no spices, no vanilla. No depth. I love scents like Angels Share or MM By the fireplace. This is just a synthetic syrup. No wood at all. Just very cheap scent for the price. Edit after 2 hours: The drydown is fine, it reminds me of Vanilla Romance by BBW which I love. I’m replacing hate with ok. Sorry, but the first two hours were torture.

unbelievable scent. dries down into this beautiful pastry scent. Longevity in skin is utterly insane. By far my all time favorite fragrance. Bought a 5ml from a decanter because of the insane price, but I expect the decant to last a while.

i love this stuff and idc what people say. The love has to be an American thing if i had to guess? It reminds me a lot of Thanksgiving, and that was the consensus among my family who all equally enjoyed the scent. That might not be for everybody but like i can see why this is so polarizing. It's very sweet, but I have such dry skin that it doesnt really project as well as it might on greasier skin types, i can see it being cloying and annoying for them. I just find it comforting, super warm and spicy and persistent vanilla base. I like these scents because they do better on me, but they're also more of a special occasion type of scent. I would never wear this during the day, to work, or even going out with friends. This is for Holidays, date nights, anniversaries, etc. Special shit. I feel like it doesnt need to be said but like yeah, dont wear this in any sort of high heat lol. It belongs in the cold. I will say, the whole dichotomy of sweet scents and how they relate to gender and sexuality are hilarious. People on here love JPG to death but hate on Althair? Idk, u try to make it make sense. Now for the price, I get that criticism. No cologne needs to be that fucking expensive. SOOOO the dupe market might be the way here.

This is the perfect NPC fragrance. Likable vanilla and nothing else. This is extremely feminine. Which makes it a great fragrance for gays. The only good thing this has is performance. If you are a high testosterone man looking for a vanilla fragrance I will say go for something a little bit more masculine like most wanted Parfum etc, Stronger with you intensely etc. Althaïr does not feel niche. It feels designer 7/10.

Cinnamon scents usually don't work for me; surprisingly, the only exception was the original 1 Million from 2008. I was skeptical about this one, so—partly due to the high price—I decided to order a 2ml sample first. It’s been very hot here, but the temperature dropped significantly yesterday along with a cold wind, so I thought it was the perfect time to test it. What can I say? It is one of the most amazing fragrances I’ve ever encountered. I was at a shop—there were four English guys visiting the area where I live—and I noticed all of them turning their heads as I walked past. When I went to pay, one of them asked what fragrance I was wearing. It is incredibly good and unique; I can't think of any other fragrance that reminds me of it. It lasted all day on me; I could still smell it this morning, even though I’d showered last night. As others here have said, it smells like cinnamon cake, but there’s a lot more going on in the background that I can't quite put into words. God, it was good. I’ve ordered a small sample of Kilian’s Angels' Share also and need to test that one too (I’m on the hunt for a winter fragrance). Now I’m worried I’ll like that one just as much—I’ll be ruined if I end up having to buy both. For me this was even better than how the orginal Layton was , before they reformulated it (still like it but it is now to weak after 6 sprays its already a skin scent on me) If you like this one as much as i did you should really try my other signatur perfumes which is Sensual Instinct from Montale ( My spring-Summer- Autumn parfyme) its a unisex perfume. There are no similarities between these two, but if you like sweet perfumes, I think you’ll love this one too.

This was my first Niche fragrance and will always be one of my favorites. Only cologne in my collection better is Mojave Ghost Absolu. This scent is so good and addicting i love it so much. It lasts 12 hours on my skin. I do love this cologne but i would not buy it again for this reason; liquid brun is nearly 1:1

Whoa! I think my wife is going to like this one. Firmly "sweet", but without being too sweet. Just baaarely grounded enough by the spice notes and woodsy notes at the base. Has a lipid/fatty smell to it, very reminiscent of lip balm, like the kinds in very small tubs...not in a bad way. Very slightly medicinal, in that way, plus with the aromatics. Really interesting blending here, on paper I should dislike much of this, but it frickin' works. I am honestly very surprised. A very strong showing from Parfum de Marly. Still has a bit of that "Flintstone's vitamins" thing going on, that all of their fragrances seem to, but it is further in the background given the strength of the other notes here. Fall/Winter for sure. This one is going to be a winner--A "buy" and very nearly a "love". NOTE: As this has dried down, I have gotten less excited...still a pleasant surprise, and my wife does like it, but maybe not a buy. Fits in the same "slot" as Five o'clock au Gingembre, which I think I still prefer. 24 hours later, this is still a very noticeable skin scent...powerful juice.

Despite being an open hater of ambroxan and ethyl maltol, I can appreciate this. The praline-vanilla-almond-tonka drydown is very likeable. If you’re a dessert person, you’ll probably love this. Reminds me of Mercedes Benz Club Black, something an ex had me wear because it was popular at the time it was launched. I wasn’t a fan, found it cloying, and that association definitely colours my views of this one.

Parfums de Marly Althaïr is a refined and addictive vanilla fragrance that gives a luxurious twist to a classic sweet scent. I love Layton and Oajan, both on my top 10 if not top 5 fragrances of all time. I was excited to try Althair due to the hype, but was mostly underwhelmed. It smells nice, but is far too sweet for me to actually wear. I can see someone in their 20s reacting to this the same way I reacted to Layton in my 20s. A real "I’m getting old" moment.

I have both liquid Brun and Althair. Surprisingly my girl who is not perfume enthusiast has straight away identified significant differences. If anyone say liquid Brun and Althair are same that not true. Althair is much more smoother, rich, less harsh in opening. Truly a masterpiece for young lads. Perfect for date nights, clubbing, special occasions and casual wear. Highly recommend to go with Althair instead of any clone
