Vanilla Woods

The amber, pear and rose is so overpowering to my nose to the point the name feels vastly misleading. I get zero vanilla and zero woods. Would rename this Amber Rose if I could.

What the hell 😭😭 This genuinely smells like sour spoiled milk and cigarettes to me. I love every other fragrance I've smelled from this brand but this actually smells awful to me. Hell nah 2/10

Seeing how polarizing these comments are is what makes me love fragrance! Everyone has a different experience and I find that so interesting. I've had this perfume for probably 4 years now. I got it in a sephora favorites bag, and the sample seemed to be much weaker than the actual bottle. I'd have to spray at least 5-6 times to get the scent to last. When I got the full sized bottle, I decided to wear it fort he first time on a date. So, I sprayed 5-6 times. Let me tell you - my entire drive to the date I had the windows down and was desperately trying to air myself out. The entire coffee shop smelled like my perfume. It was so overwhelming I felt like I was choking. But choking in this really incredible, delectable vanilla cloud. I'm not someone who likes to wear loud perfumes, so I was insecure about it the entire day, even though I smelled really good and received many compliments. I learned my lesson after that day, and typically spray 1-3 sprays. I'd say it's more of a winter fragrance, but I decided to reach for it today on a 106+ day in Vegas. It's not overpowering or cloying, but you can definitely smell it. My favorite time to wear this fragrance is during fall / winter, when I'm wearing a big cozy sweatshirt. The fragrance stays on my skin all day, even sometimes into the next day if I don't shower, and will stay on clothes until you wash them. VERY strong fragrance. Now, for the smell. I've never picked up on cigarettes until today. I'm known to dabble in a Southern Cut every now and then, and I can definitely see the comparison. It's sweet, smokey, but there's something that lifts it up so it's not too heavy. I'd never think there's pear or rose in this. But, it must be what keeps this from being too heavy. It's a lightly smokey vanilla on my skin. Doesn't really transform much, stays relatively linear the entire time. I say relatively since the beginning is a bit smokier than the dry down. The dry down is much more balanced. If you want a similar scent that you can wear during summer, just wear Cheirosa '40. I have both, they are essentially the exact same, but Cheriosa '40 is lighter and more vibrant.

This is my favorite straight vanilla. Perfect for layering with anything and it will always be a staple for me.

This is the same sweet vape pod cloud DNA that Vanilla Vice (snif) and Unmute (Noyz) share and I truly cannot stand it. I get PERHAPS a brief whiff of pear in the sweetness. Maybe. Misleadingly named at best, migraine inducing at worst. Flashback to ‘trying your cousin’s juul’ invoking at all times. Not blind buy safe

It’s a solid everyday vanilla perfume for everyday cold weather. But too woody for me. I will not be repurchasing as I have better vanillas in my collection. Good pairing with vanilla skin body mist

This is a bit of a strange one, but I adore it! Smells like a pack of very sweet cigarettes your rich auntie would keep in the bottom of her Coach bag, like a Marlboro Southern Cut! Smoky, amber-y, woody vanilla goodness, with an odd nostalgia to it. Definitely more fall/winter, but light enough for daytime! Decent longevity and sillage, not good nor bad. Spraying from a tester, but the bottle is pretty but plain. Not what I was expecting, and definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm impressed! 8/10!

This does smell like cigarettes on me, but I like that. It kind of reminds me of a rich woman who smoked and tried to hide it lol. Ive had this bottle for about a year,and ive found it's gotten sweeter over time. That disappoints me and I dont reach for it as much. But, it is nice and while its marshmallow sweet, that smoky opening might be one of my favourites.

The fact that people get cigarettes from this is absolutely wild to me lmao. The opening with the pear makes this so inviting and nostalgic to me for some reason. The pear fades over time on my skin, but develops into a sweet and woody veil. On my clothes, the pear stays and that's honestly my favorite part about this fragrance if you can't already tell. My only beef with this scent is that it doesn't last long on my skin. Maybe about an hour of wear if I'm lucky. Still going to buy another bottle though.

I'm a bit torn on this perfume. In some ways, I really like it. I wore it everyday for like three months and I enjoyed that. The problem, however, is the opening. It starts out smelling exactly like a secret smoker who just doused themself in vanilla perfume to hide their vice. It's very intense and much too strong for me. I have to spray it a good hour before I plan on going anywhere because I smell so overwhelmingly like smokey vanilla. Once the initial intensity passes, the dry-down is very nice. Its still got a smokey, spicy essence, but that fades down and the warm, sweet, caramel vanilla shines through. It's such a winter scent. Snow on the ground, bundled in a scarf and a big coat and a hat, your skin smelling warm while your breath freezes in the air. Its quite beautiful, very sweet and enveloping. I can't smell any of the pear or rose on my skin. This perfume is all vanilla and caramel with a warm amber base.

It’s fine, a bit too sweet for my taste. It’s similar to the SDJ cheirosa 40 but something about this smells a bit indolic to my nose.

This is a beautiful, comforting, and cozy vanilla fragrance with a touch of pear. It’s great for layering, but it also works beautifully on its own. I love that it’s made from ethically sourced, natural ingredients.

Based on the notes I should love this, but to me it smells like a shadow of the depicted notes with an overlay of something artificial/plasticlike. It’s not bad, but not nearly worth the hype it got sometime ago nor does it justify the price. pass for me, selling my bottle.

powdery sweet vanilla cigarettes… there’s plenty more out there that do it a lot better. the pear is subtle but does add a nice sweet crispness, points there.

This is my perfect powdery vanilla. The rose and pear opening make it smell so clean and fresh, then it dries down more woody and sweet. Smells mature, sofisticated and elegant, it's not gourmand at all (sooo tired of every vanilla out there smelling like a dessert). I understand why people criticize the name, it's not a very woody or smoky vanilla, if that's what you're expecting than you will be disappointed. Actually reminds me a lot of True Vanilla from Library of Flowers, that handcream was my favorite scent for a long time!

The opening is a smoky pear on me that fades into a stale smoke smell I didn't really pick up the lovely vanilla others were getting.

Opening: This is what your clothes smell like the night after a campfire party where you smoked up a entire pack of cigarettes . This is far from pear and fresh. I quit my smoking 15 years ago, no need to go back to that mess. I think I’ll pass. Drydown: Is this magic in a bottle? Never had I had a scent that have gone from trash to stunning. I still dislike the opening, which still reminds me of cigarettes and campfire. But the drydown is quite a mature grown up vanilla! I think now I have to think if I can get passed the opening… not sure yet!

I bought the discovery set and Vanilla Woods is the first one I tried. I was skeptical of the bad reviews of cigarette or pencil shavings but that is exactly what I got. It does move pretty quickly from top to base notes. I got very little vanilla and no pear at all. What stayed was the stale cigarettes. I'm a Vanilla girl but this is definitely not for me.

A fresh vanilla. Very crisp, thanks to the pear and rose notes. It kinda does remind me of Cheirosa ‘40, but way less sweet. Whenever I sniff my hand, I immediately get hit with the sharp pear scent, slightly softened with some caramel. Holy guacamole it smells like pear. I’m guessing that’s where some are getting the smoke/stale smell from.

I hate this scent so much that i had to create a profile to write it. First time in my life perfume is smelling bad on me, and i mean bad like a public toilet. I have similar problem with other perfume from this line - buttercream haze - but i try to layer it with my other scents and maybe save it somehow. I bought a tester set and thank god. I understand that some perfumes smell better on some and it is all about body chemistry but i really did not expect such a stinky thing from notes i love! From what i see and read, this brand have this problem with a high chance.
