This is a truly old school powerhouse masterpiece of the chypre genre. Pure class for guys like me who have more than a few grey hairs and fondly remember the 70's and 80's classics. Its Polo....reimagined for the 21st century. For those folks out there not willing and able to pay the huge prices currently being demanded for this scent, take a look at AwScents website from the UK. They sell a potent dupe, which is much more affordable and excellent quality......they do 50ml or 100ml bottles for under 50 bucks. I wear it and nobody knows the difference.

this is a real gentleman scent a bit vintage but so classy, definitely for the mature ones, suits better for formal occasions, the longevity and the sillage are both great

Halston Z14 in TOM FORD bottle

Анонім★★★★★

Extremely well blended and classic fragrance. The composition is so unique, it smells like a barbershop on the Mediterranean coast with its woody, citrus and aromatic notes. I have an almost full 100mL bottle for anyone interested :)

Decent fragrance. I've liked Halston Z-14 since I was a teen, and Italian Cypress is the refined version of the former. The quality of the ingredients is superb. Lemon, cypress, woodsy notes. It has a crisp freshness that must be the mint/basil. It does smell dated.

Add one more chapter into Tom Ford's big book of retro scents. This is a refreshed 80s masculine chypre, for sure. What am I getting from this? - Definitely Polo, I think. Did Carlos Benaim redo his late 70s classic for TF? Hmm.... That certainly seems like something TF would be quite ok with. Anyway.... It opens with a big blast of synthetic lemon and bergamot, accented by doses of mint and basil. Those dry down very quickly to the heart and base notes of - you guessed it - Italian cypress and ample amounts of freshly cut, oily cedar. The cypress and cedar give a bit of an incense impression, but your nose will reject that speculation after a little thought because the whole of this fragrance from beginning to end is sour, aromatic, and woody. It's hard not to like it - you must like it! It playfully follows that formula for retro masculines we all know and love, and what sets it apart is that characteristically Tom Ford polish of modern, sleek, trashy opulence. That said, you like it and you must, but you won't love it. It doesn't say anything new, and it will hardly be any more memorable than the hundreds of fragrances just like it that have come before and the hundreds that will come after. Polo has secured that spot. So, if you want to wear exactly this type of perfume, but will only settle for something expensive, high-end designer, and a touch better than many others (that are much cheaper, more commonplace, and do the same thing), those are really the only justifications you will have for buying this. Otherwise, it's pointless, and I can see why it was discontinued. No one is going to miss it. But it is nonetheless a pleasant trip down memory lane.

Try Riven Oak by Tom Daxon if you are trying to find a similar perfume 👍🏻

you know how some fragrances smell better in the air than up close? this is the opposite. not that it doesn't smell good in the air, it smells good in any case but you can further feel the quality of it up close. i love the mentholated feel of this woody and green aroma, feels somewhat medicinal and i wouldn't say the most realistic depiction of a cypress note, but i enjoy the smell alot. one of the most realistic cypress fragrances i have sniffed is actually nishane's b-612

I've gotten a few compliments on this scent and yes, I am a woman. I didn't realize it was unisex but it smells amazing on me. Yes, it smells of pine and cypressy at first but I notice that after an hour or 2, the dry down smells amazing! This scent lasts all day. I have the oil, knock off version and I smell good all day long!

I find it deeply ironic when I see people in uproar over someone else’s review and then scroll to find that review only to see the moderators have evidently deleted it. It’s interesting how tightly moderated this site is when it’s convenient for them, and yet they encourage and proliferate every slackjawed and reactionary “review” that has nothing to do with fragrance but is only there to espouse some sort of political or “moral” opinion that doesn’t belong here. I wish there was an alternate reality version of this website where the mods actually cared about keeping the community on track instead of actively ignoring divisive and vitriolic comments (indeed they encourage them). It’s a failing of them to do their own job. Not to mention this site runs and is coded like it’s 15 years in the past. For shame!

Can someone DM and tell me how this compares to Light Blue Summer Vibes? Thanks

Анонім★★★★★

I have never tried Italian Cypress, so I can't really compare. However, if you are looking for a good dupe, check out "Italian Decorum" by Dua Fragrances. The quality is good.

Amazing perfume. You can find the 250 ml version at Harrods but the price is 1250 GBP. Any good clones out there? Please let me know!

If there was ever a perfect signature fragrance for a mature gentleman, Italian Cypress would be a strong contender. A coniferous, piney, herbal, mentholated, woody, citrus fragrance with just the slightest inflection of sweetness that's perfectly suitable for any season. With its iconic, albeit classic leaning, aroma, this fragrance combines the best of fougère and chypre styles, exuding timeless sophistication and elegance.

I wore my vintage today Jan 1. So good. Put it back in my top 5. I was picking up a lot of oak moss. Was glad to see another reviewer got the same oak moss. The best Tom Ford for me.

Анонім★★★★★

• Why? • A clone of older Halston z-14 (or per TF, a "tribute"), for much more money. Vintage z-14 is widely available. • Own vintage z-14. Not a big fan of either fragrance.

@Shadow1990 How old are you? 7? Your behavior says it all.

Анонім★★★★★

@Shadow1990 generic? This juice is as far as from generic as the earth from the moon. Generic are for sure the Jeremy Fragrance bottles in your collection. Drugstore stuff.

Анонім★★★★★

I think I will always love this one - shame it’s hard to get at a reasonable price. I did find the best alternative to this and it was FLORIS 1962 which has now diminished into thin air for whatever reason! Best ever autumn and winter masculine fragrance ever!

Анонім★★★★★

back to the masculine fragrances of the 1970's, that is. It evokes a woody, resinous, herbal feel, all stuffed inside a musty leather jacket. It's suitable for old men

What on God's green earth are people smelling when they smell this and think it reminds them of Polo Green? This is Clive Christian's Cypress and Halston Z-14 to almost 100%. What the...?

Анонім★★★★★

Great gentleman’s fragrance however very similar to polo green (I have a vintage batch and wear that more than this as it also outperforms) granted Italian cypress is more refined and higher quality but due to the rarity it’s not worth searching for or paying the high market price in comparison in my opinion.

Whoever thinks this smells like D&G Velvet Cypress needs to go check their noses with a dr ffs. Not even close

I have a pretty old bottle of this , there is maybe about 40% left. It has actual oakmoss, which gives it a lot of strength and longevity. It has changed a bit over time, the mint has kind of faded, and there is an aromachemical, which I forget the name of, that gives the impression of a really dry wood note and it is maybe a bit more prominent. Other than that , it has hung in there. Kind of a slightly bitter citrus in the opening, among other things, then the warm sweetish cypress settles in which is the star of the show. The fragrance does not evolve from there, it stays as-is, as it was meant to. It smells mature and refined, and although a bit on the darker and mysterious end of things, it is a daytime frag to me for the most part. Maybe an evening frag for something like a lecture etc but not at all a nightlife frag. Good frag for fall, for sure, works well on a cool crisp day. I've seen references to limited editions at exorbitant prices and so on, which fits right in with the post pandemic gouging and hustling that seems to be going on everywhere. This is a nice frag but don't fall for that shit.

Анонім★★★★★

Undoubtedly it's quite similar to the pine needle oil bomb Ralph Lauren's Polo (1978), but IC is not that intrusive and it's more refined with photorealistic ingredients. Not surprisingly the same perfumer stands behind the two fragrances. A trained nose easly can pick out most notes like cypress, mint and basil. This is green, fougére fragrance for sure and no one can persuade me of the other way around even without having one or two main accords to make it completely as such one. Imo this scent joins the very masculine fellowship of Beau de jour, Fougére D'argent, Zino Davidoff, Paco Rabanne pour homme(1973) and more as the greener brother😊. Italian cypress is long -lasting with persistent scent bubble that shapes up shortly after the initial spray and sillage. A classical masculine and well-crafted perfume that deserves attention. Despite it's been discontinued, still can be found re- released in certain Tom Ford boutiques on inflated prices.

I can see exactly why this one has the popularity that it has. Paid quite a fair amount, just got mine in the mail opened it and I usually like dark, "ambery" or "oudy" fragrances I can appreciate and want all the others in the other genres but I lean towards the aforementioned; I usually try and test those, not so much the citrus or fresher ones, I have smelt many recent fragrances (fragrance shops and places like Selfridges and Harrods are just a bus or train away). But this is cut from a different cloth, citrus yet smooth, woody yet refined it does that "Tom Ford thing". It includes that vein of continuity that makes you say it's a Tom Ford scent. I currently have a small collection and used to have many fragrances, I have rare essential oils and have tried and sampled many super-expensive scents. But Italian Cypress is by far one of the best (if not currently the best) in my collection or from what I have smelt, to me it is as smooth as a Roja Dove, I tried Apex some months back as well but strangely Italian Cypress smells more refined, smoother - and that opening. That opening, especially straight after it dries down. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I'm glad I negotiated a good price. Every penny - well spent.

Анонім★★★★★

Absolute gem of a scent, reminds me of the 80s style, but this is more smooth and wearable for the new generations. It has a slight minty/herbal, and citrus feel going in the background. A gentleman's fragrance indeed. Fuck this is good! PS: There is 100% incense/smoke in the drydown

Анонім★★★★★

I have a 50 ml bottle from 2011 for sale if anyone is interested.

Анонім★★★★★

So apparently this has been made available again in limited amounts in 250ml bottles. ...for a very reasonable price of $2,000. No, this is not a joke.

Анонім★★★★★

There is nothing feminine in this perfume. masculine uomo scents smell the same when they become skin scents. It has nothing to do with the R.L. Crest in the first two hour period. Cypress does not leave a noisy taste like lanvin habit rouge or givenchy gentlemen.
