No no... believe them when people say this has a minty toothpaste opening, a very long lasting opening as well. Dry down is beautiful, and another showcase of the complex evolutionary nature of Amouage scents.

The initial opening is a minty and spicy scent with a creamy undertone. 15 Min - I am still getting a minty scent with s light spiciness but I am also starting to get a creamy fruitiness from the Olibanum note. 30 Min - I am still getting a minty scent with undertones of Amber and a creamy sweetness from the Olibanum. 60 Min - I am still getting some of the mint but the Amber has definitely become the dominant note. I am also picking up the Leather note which balances out some of the sweetness from the Amber. Dry Down: The dry down of this fragrance is an Amber and Leather scent with undertones of light floral asnd earthy notes. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is Good with the frangrance creating a scent bubble of about 2.5 feet for almost 2.5 hours. The sillage is also Good with a scent trail of over 3+ feet for over 2+ hours. Longevity is Great with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 8 to 9 hours, but becoming a skin scent at about 4 hours. My rating for this fragrance is a 8 out of 10.

I absolutely hate this fragrance. It honestly makes me wonder if anyone at Amouage actually smelled it before approving the release. How do you take a luxury house with decades of prestige and end up bottling what feels like Amber Woods at nuclear concentration? I washed my shirt after wearing it and it still smells like harsh Amber Woods. At this point the fragrance has better longevity than the fabric itself. I seriously question how this even made it through IFRA. I'm exhausted by perfumes that smell more like an aroma chemical demonstration than an actual composition. There is probably a beautiful fragrance buried somewhere in here, but it has been completely suffocated by an overdose of synthetic amber woody materials. Luxury pricing. Industrial strength Amber Woods. What a bargain. Next.

I simply am not a fan of mint being combined with anything that isn't fresh. First blast of this was mouthwash. Letting it sit for a few days, that mint mixed well with the spices. But yeah, oriental spices are one of the last things I wanna combine with mint so here the mint feels out of place in the drydown. It does smell really wearable though and comes off as fresh and sophisticated. As with office-safe Amouage fragrances, this is another CEO-coded fragrance that actually is one of the safer wears from the brand.

Amouage is one of those houses that acquires an almost mythical reputation among fragrance enthusiasts. Such high praise has, I confess, led me over the years to conclude that every serious fragrance collector should have at least one example of the house's work in their collection. It is therefore slightly embarrassing to admit that I have none and have sampled only a couple. It was for this reason that I set about gathering samples of several Amouage fragrances that looked to be a potential fit for me. As I suspect will be the case with all these samples, the quality of Enclave is clear from the outset. It has a fullness and depth that's a cut above many fragrances, but what I think really sets it apart is that it is different. Usually, when I smell a fragrance, I think, "That smells a bit like X, Y, or Z". Not so with Enclave. Some reviews have mentioned that Enclave has similarities to Guerlain's Homme Eau de Parfum. I can see this in the peppermint opening, but whereas the Guerlain is smooth, warm, and slightly boozy, Enclave is sharp and has what I perceive to be an ozonic quality, which I put down to the pink pepper and perhaps the cinnamon. It has the power to catch the back of my throat; I can taste it as much as I can smell it. I have to admit that, for the first 30 minutes to an hour, I wasn't at all sure that I liked Enclave. Then something changed, making it a good lesson in why it's important to give a fragrance a chance to settle down. From around the one-hour mark, Enclave smoothed out and became softer. That ozonic sharpness I experienced early on faded, allowing the peppermint to be joined by warm amber. There are light touches of rose too, with hints of leather lurking beneath. Had I not given this fragrance a fair chance, I think I'd have missed its complexity completely and dismissed it. Enclave certainly fulfils its promise of being a quality fragrance, but when it comes to this house, I doubt I'll be buying many bottles, so it comes down to making a careful decision about which one I will choose. Sadly, Enclave sits just behind Jubilation Man and Reflection Man in my ranking of the Amouage fragrances I have sampled. Smelling toothpaste mint? Your nose needs more exposure to high quality scents to develop. Enclave is an alluring, sublime mixture of fresh, natural mint, dry vetiver and cozy amber. Mint and amber dominate throughout the wear for an comfortable, enveloping scent bubble that persists for hours and while not featuring the beastly projection of Interlude or Overture, provides a noticeable arms length projection. Extremely wearable in nearly all settings and seasons, one of the few year-round, any occasion Amouage scents.

this is a beautiful, classy masculine oriental fragrance built around "rose, amberwood, and incense". it is undeniably multifaceted, though I would describe it as busy and contrasted. the opening has a bland watermelon note, usually created by the calone molecule. i also detect a powdery character from violet, orris root, and patchouli, layered over the warmth of honey, almond, vanilla, and leather. the aromatic side evokes mint, lavender, cinnamon, and clove, bringing some herbal freshness that envelops the composition. the vetiver adds a deep and bold earthy-green quality. in terms of character and artistic identity, enclave feels less clearly-defined than another amouage fragrance i know, called "amouage search". search has a stronger presence and a more recognizable signature, while enclave moves between several competing facets, almost smelling like stepping into a perfume shop in the arabian/persian gulf region. did i just say this complex composition ends up smelling rather generic like a perfume shop? that is my impression, though generic here is not equal to basic or common, but related to the overall identity. it's really complex and lovely, even if it doesn't feel completely resolved to me.

Extremely minty/menthol in the opening. The extreme mint lasts an hour or so to me. Starts to smell like a peppermint candy. Smells like the way those soft peppermint candies that melt in your mouth taste. Settles into a beautiful sweet warm, minty amber. Extremely refreshing scent. Can be worn any season. I don't get the greatest performance on my skin but lingers on clothes very well. Extremely easy to wear in my opinion.

Toooo good, i LOVE mint and this has the best one ive smelled ever in a perfume. I also love cinnamon and Oajan is one of my favs, and this cinnamon is pretty close to that one. So two of my fav ingredients in one perfume, love it It also has a calming and velvety effect on me, pretty balsamic, mentholated and thick. Sillage and projection seems limited or I get noseblind. Longevity tbd, I got the fragrance earlier today so havent really put it to the test yet But so far this is a love for me, havent smelled anything like it before

This is such a beautiful fresh minty perfume. I almost decided to buy it, but this is a skin scent. I am shocked to see people say this has super strong longevity and projection. On my skin it disappears after a minute. I mean, I can still smell it for few minutes if I put my nose directly on skin, but even that scent disappears quickly. I tried Enclave in official perfumery and i found a decant, but the experience is the same. I wish this can last longer, because it is super expensive for a weak scent

One of the easiest Amouage fragrances to wear. I used to really dislike this, but then I came back to it. Beautiful minty, warm, glowing amber that goes all night. Excellent longevity.

Beautiful! A perfect scent for me. It’s equal parts fun and sophisticated. I’ve heard that some people claim it smells like mint toothpaste. But, in my opinion, that description is inaccurate and rather lazy. The best way I can describe it is that Enclave gives the aroma of Pastel Mint Nonpareil candies (Google it and you’ll recognize them). A smooth, creamy, high quality mint that melts in your mouth. The opening and subsequent dry down melts over the skin and surrounds you with a fantastic ambient cloud of mint and frankincense. It’s so pleasant and inviting that you will look forward to every little waft that floats up, including in the later stages of the development. It’s not at all loud, but its presence is undeniable. A good 8 to 9 hours later, on the drive home, you are still being reminded that this was money well spent and you look forward to the next time you can get “sprayed up” with this masterpiece.

Its very nice. Especially in the opening. Im not getting a lot of projection sadly but it is really long lasting as expected. It smells like a humid green mint jungle with some sort of sweet smell in the air.

Easy 15 hour performance, new batch. Amouage did go crazy with this You need to understand it, when j first smelled this i was like nah thats toothpaste, but as my nose developed, its so good. Mint, cinnamon, cardemon, with frankincense, in the dry down it is a very cold frankincense with vetiver & amber, mint is still somewhere there, as if the frankincense is frozen. Thats what it smells like

There’s a lot going on here (i mean look at all those notes), but the mint kinda takes over everything. It ends up giving off a toothpaste vibe. I usually don't mind mint in fresh scents, but here it’s mixed with heavier/earthy notes and just doesn’t work that well. Comes off a bit medicinal and unpleasant 2/10

I get a very powdery note from this, and the first person I asked for an unbiased opinion from — that was their initial impression as well. I get the powder before I get the mint at all. That makes it a little too feminine for me, dawg. Great as a feminine frag, though.

To my nose this smells like an Andes mint chocolate. The mint is very forward and the cardamom and leather make a chocolate accord to me? Idk I’m gonna try it on skin again

Quite potent. Excellent silage and length. Very rich and spicy minty opening with warm, dark wood drydown. Complex, but a bit muddy for me. Harder to pick out individual notes. Masculine. For such a strong fragrance, very well liked by others.

I absolutely adore this. Mintiness and ashy olibanum. It's like having a Fisherman's Friend in your mouth while reciting a Thelemic incantation in an upmarket suburban basement. A spritz of Binaca at a Byzantine funeral. I understand why it won't appeal to many, but for me it's wonderfully unique and evocative.

This is pretty much as good as it gets in my book. Beautiful, complex, fresh, cool, warm, long-lasting, projecting, unique...It's got everything. Definitely one of my desert island scents.

A short review of Enclave (tested on strip) This fragrance comes off as harsh and at first even unpleasant. What ruins the opening to me is the cinnamon, in my opinion it doesn’t blend very well with the mint, once the first wiffs of cinnamon cease the mint saves the whole composition. Mixed with a beautiful accord of cardamom it envelops you in a refined coat of green leafs, the olibanum gives it a smooth roundness that sustains the fragrance and the spearmint. What doesn’t convince me is the patchouli and still the cinnamon that sometimes comes back to life. Not my cup of tea. 6.8/10

Everyone hates on this piece of art this fragrance reminds me of Moroccan tea served in the warm days of Marrakesh its warm and cold at the same time I don’t know how to describe it the day you will land in Morocco 🇲🇦 and try their tea you will understand what I mean it’s my third favorite from the house after decision and epic 56

Mint Bandaids. Thats what I am smelling off the first 10 minutes and that's a pass for me. Not interested in waiting for how it develops.... Toothpaste and Medicinal. Onto the next frag....

I don’t really know what happened. I bought a bottle after smelling it from the cap in a store which was pretty dumb. I didn’t understand the perfume at first after I’d gotten it. I’ve worn in about 5 times and each time I very much liked it, but I didn’t love it. I’ve been spraying lots of animalic ouds recently and I just sprayed some enclave because I had a random craving for it, and I really love this perfume now. It reminds me of the super early mornings before a flight with your family when going on a trip that everyone is excited about. The perfume is a little chaotic, but it’s exciting and familiar. The mint is a tiny bit toothpastey, but it’s not abrasive, and there’s just an exciting feel about the perfume. In my opinion, it’s not the best crafted or most unique Amouage perfume, but I really love to wear it. I originally gave it a 9.0/10, and I think I will now give it a 9.7/10. I’d also like to note that I get a bit of a pickle-like sandalwood note in here. There’s not even sandalwood listed, but I get tiny touch of a briny pickle, but it somehow works really well.

Amouage #15 – Unsettling amber and a powerless mint Amouage is one of those houses that i hold in high regard and carry a great degree of respect for, even if i haven’t been compelled to add a bottle to my collection or wishlist. Not because they aren’t my style, quiet the opposite infact, but i haven’t quiet found the one that stopped me in my tracks and made me want a bottle at all costs. Factoring in the prices even on alternative marketplaces, a perfume has to leave a mark on me to warrant the expense. Enclave sparked my curiosity for two reasons. One is the name because i’ve often mentioned how im a sucker for a good name and Amouage is great at simple yet meaningful names. The other reason is that allegedly its a perfume that incorporates mint, one of my favourite notes, and does so in a complex manner fitting for the house of Amouage. For a while now i’ve been curious in what direction does the scent go and if it will be the one that will find its place in my collection in the future. Sadly, my experience with Enclave is unfortunate because it starts up beautifully but ends up less positive then i wanted. From the start, there was something very familiar about the perfume but i couldn’t place it so instead i tried to focus on the mint and how it is presented. Indeed the mint in Enclave is placed in a very complex enviroment, too complex even. I like a mint that is dark, rich, earthy but natural and i picture the perfect mint plant as having thick, velvety leafs coupled with a strong aroma. The mint in Enclave has all that but there is an accord that even tho helps the mint inherit those qualities, it also opresses it and quickly takes over the whole perfume. Its also the accord that made Enclave smell familiar to me. Since i couldn’t figure out where the familiarity came from, i consulted Fragrantica and noticed that the perfume is likened to Christos by Giardini di Toscana. Both perfumes share quiet a few notes but the dominant note in both to my nose is the Amber Xtreme and its precisely this aromachemical that suffocates this composition aswell. This aromachemical takes many characteristics from other “traditional” notes but does so in a Frankenstein kind of way. Its ambery, balsamic, resinous, myrrh-like, earthy, sticky-ish. Normaly i like those qualities, only Amber Xtreme presents them in a way that feels unnatural. The way Amber Xtreme creates those nouances feels weird, kinda like a smile that you suspect is fake or a concoction of ingredients that are fine by themselves but end up not mixing too well with each other. Its an “uncanny valley” kind of note that isn’t necessarily unpleasant but feels claustrophobic in an unsettling way to my nose. Its also extremely tenacious on my skin and the longer it sits the more suffocating it gets. Perhaps its just me not getting along with balsamic ambers/resins. In my brain i tried to single out the mint and place it in a natural imagery but i failed. I pictured the perfect mint plant i’ve described above, but it ended up being completly burried. Only the earth that burried it doesn’t smell of soil but smells sweetish instead and it isn’t porous but sticky. Then i pictured the mint encapsulated in amber, only the amber isn’t golden but dark brown and it isn’t solid like a shell but feels like its slowly melting and dripping tar. Once again, the enviroment surrounding the mint is very complex but equally alien and im sad to say that Enclave doesn’t ask for a place in my collection eighter. A pitty, because in the opening when the mint is still running strong, its beyond beautiful. Too bad the amber xtreme quickly takes over and disturbs the scent irreparably.
