Herbal incense. I don’t get any dark/disturbing notes here unlike others! Bitter citrusy opening, the bergamot, lemon and lavender are very heavy initially then lots of rosemary and incense. Sandalwood base with a bit of musk. It’s mostly a woody citrus/pine scent to me, chypre style. There’s a bit of a cold metallic feel to it. Smells like aftershave on a wealthy older gentleman’s stubble. Since I expected something disturbing what came to mind was in crime shows where someone remembers the smell of their attacker’s aftershave or cologne and is able to identify them. Hannibal from the NBC show might wear this but that’s the closest SOTL vibe I get. After a bit something like cedar, pine and resins start to show and it feels more cold and metallic almost like steel. The notes definitely evolve in the order described pretty accurately! It’s a mature scent and very intense. When I sprayed twice on a sample strip it was like an explosion lol. Massive projection! I wish I got musk/animalic but I don’t get that at all. You can tell it’s so well crafted but it’s a little too “distinguished man cologne” for me to wear out.
I think the context and inspiration of this scent puts unnecessarily negative expectations into the first-time wearer. No blood. No flesh. Nothing sinister. It’s actually quite fresh and old-school. A wonderful vintage style chypre with a gentle animalic warmth and green piquant notes. Absolutely wearable and a dynamic, complex fragrance. Fear not. Let it be beautiful.
“You use Evian skin cream, and sometimes you wear L'Air du Temps, but not today.” 🩸 The opening is very loud fresh aromatic garden herbs with citrus but there’s also something dirty and gross deep in the composition like perfume sprayed next to a dirty armpit but thankfully it fades quickly! the drydown smells like old fashioned fresh perfumes from the 80s. Also it lasts FOREVER on clothes.
Smelling the blood of the altar (15 fragrances, one confession) There’s no soft way to say this: Filippo Sorcinelli doesn’t make perfumes. He makes olfactory liturgy with incense, resins, animalic notes, and a concept so solid it hurts. I tested all 15 fragrances from his catalog, and I didn’t come out the same. Something moved. Something broke. Filippo Sorcinelli was born in 1975 in Mondolfo, Italy. By the age of 13, he was already playing the organ in cathedrals. Later, he founded an atelier for sacred vestments and became the tailor for popes: Benedict XVI, Francis, and now Leo XIV. A practicing Catholic. Openly gay. A man who dresses the Vicar of Christ and formalized his relationship with another man under the law. He is not a character. He is a walking paradox. His fragrances are not “church smell” in a touristy sense. They are damp crypts, burned incense, old wax, rotting wood, wilted flowers, dense resins, a trace of skin, a trace of sweat, a trace of something that shouldn’t be there but is. They don’t seduce. They put you in front of a mirror and force you to smell the contradiction: crypt and body, sacred and profane, ritual and desire. There is a fragrance that smells like an old church after Mass: residual incense, extinguished wax, cold stone. Another that smells like a convent garden at dawn: white flowers, wet earth, a shadowy herbal base. Another that smells like skin and desire: animalic notes, leather, sweat, a sexual edge that unsettles anyone seeking comfort. Another that smells of something fecal—not cheap scatology, but a reminder that the body exists, that flesh is not an accident. These are not perfumes to wear. They are sensory portals to territories few dare to name. He himself says that perfume is “the art of smell,” a language that needs no figurative references, but in his case is intimately tied to memory, spirituality, and matter. Every name and every bottle functions like chapters in a story where the sacred and the profane contaminate each other. Fragrances like *Ennui-Noir* are presented as an “ode to boredom” understood as fertile fullness, a space where “the impossible becomes possible” and where the perfume forces you to look at yourself without filters. Others are inspired by Gothic architecture, relics of the Passion, or even passages from the Gospel of Mark, translated into olfactory experience. It’s no coincidence that someone who designs vestments for Mass also explores the animal, the sexual, and the fetish. His Catholicism is not cardboard; it is a faith that assumes the paradox of a desiring body within a doctrine that has historically policed it. What is he trying to tell us? Does he know something we don’t? Does he throw the stone and hide his hand? He asks us to understand his madness or, at least, not to judge it. I say he deserves more: to be looked at straight in the face, without any halo of divinity. If he walks, creates, smells, and bleeds, he is mortal. And precisely for that reason, he is fucking original and free. How much is fiction and how much is reality in Filippo Sorcinelli? Impostor or Renaissance man? Antichrist or Christ? I don’t know. But his 15 fragrances forced me to stop, smell, and think. And that, in 2025, is already a miracle. Sorcinelli deserves credit not for being “good” or “bad,” but for opening a path in contemporary perfumery where incense and flesh, crypt and desire, sound—and smell—like something very few dare to name. His perfumes are not easy. Some unsettle you, others hypnotize you, several force you to think. If you seek comfort, go elsewhere. If you want a perfume that pulls you out of your comfort zone and forces you to smell contradiction, stay here. Don’t close this review with a “like / dislike.” Close it with a question: what part of you moved when you smelled Sorcinelli? What part resisted? What part recognized that the altar and the bed, the censer and the body, the divine and the carnal, are not opposites, but two sides of the same coin?
genuinely the worst scent I have ever tried. for me it is worse than Inexcusable Evil by Toskovat or T-Rex by Zoologist. its sharp and aggressive and smells like rotting fruit and meat.
I was anticipating something much more shocking here. Much more transgressive or maybe even repulsive. Any description of the gore or viscera variety that others are giving to this (blood, meat, intestines, etc.) simply aren’t there for me whatsoever. Can’t speak much on the whole “Hannibal” inspiration here either, but there’s something inherently eerie about it if I reach far enough so I’ll give it that much. It’s a love-hate relationship that I’m experiencing here that seems to solely depend on how I’m feeling on a given day. On a good day it’s an expensive, old vintage sort of aroma. I picture a space with clashing, maximalist decor with all sorts of exotic animal print patterns. Real pelts and fur coats, and everything about this space is antique. On a bad day this smells like a worn down leather couch in a trap house. One that is stained, ripping at the seams and all sunken in like with deep, sweaty ass-prints, and I’m sitting on this couch post golden shower.
No blood, no meat,no death or decay. This is an old-school fragrance...a niche and more floral version of old spice that has been elevated and made powerful. Anyone who has smelled old spice will agree. Nothing to fear here at all.
Art.. brilliant, complex, and sometimes even fascinating.
I hate this so much. It doesn’t actually smell BAD, it just isn’t right idk. Like, it doesn’t smell like blood, it smells like a sterilized crime scene. I can definitely see why people say it smells like intestines 😬, but like, sterile intestines. I can see this being wearable for some people but definitely not for me (and I would be a bit disturbed if I smelled it on someone). The scent of it just makes me feel very like nauseous and uneasy. Idk. I would be content never having to smell this again, it’s not pleasant at all. Very very strong scent bubble, with just a tester sheet of this my whole room smelled like it for days. Ugh it’s just evil idk
This is 10/10. I came expecting blood, metal and reading here i've seen people mention meat... To me this gives off a smell of a metal sparkles while its getting cut. I can sense why people mention blood since it gives off the smell of sweet dried blood but not in a bad way. I see no resemblences to the meat or anything close to it. Projection wise its amazing with great sillage lasts 12h plus on a skin. Personally it is very wearable, very floral especially in the drydown, you get some old school fougere vibes from it. To me this is the second best perfume I've ever tried. To me this gives off so much comfort that i cannot compare it to any other perfume. Give it a chance it is not a blind buy but definetly worth checking out.
Anybody who says this smells like meat should stop giving recommendations for fragrance and for food. These people are out in the world skewing yelp. It’s one of Scorcinelli‘s best, and reminds me of my grandfather fresh after a shower, shave and his own various aftershaves and glass musket bottled cologne’s applied. He was an old fashioned minister, so I guess it’s appropriate. It smells like a bronze sculpture of praying hands with a careful felt covered marble base to me.
Single spray from a sample. Smells like a photorealistic panic attack. I get chills sitting in the silage. I don't really understand what I'm smelling that is getting this reaction, but it makes me want to hyperventilate. I need to take a shower after wearing - it infects everything I'm wearing and washing it off with dish soap and a washcloth isn't removing it. I will say it is not a terrible smell - there is something very intensely floral, like a high concentration undiluted lavender oil. Very in your face. I don't smell any musk or sandalwood personally on myself. I can see someone liking the fragrance, and maybe I would like it on a man, but I really do not want it on my own skin. I appreciate it as a work of art, and it certainly evoked an emotion in me. That emotion just happened to be very negative. Partner says it smells like Old Spice aftershave with some other stuff.
This is my 3rd sample from this maker. I purchased 7 today. This is a hard NO for me. The opening is so sharp and repulsive. Imagine a sweaty bloke who just mowed the lawn, realised they had bad BO. But he did have no time to shower. Instead he doused himself with whatever perfume he found lying around and he sat in a humid car with you. Daang, where is the vicks vaporub.
Red sugary amber and resin, touch of musk. I cant look at the notes. This comes to me as a smooth red floral - nose to skin I can pick some notes (Angelica is the easiest) but its just so well blended im dazzled but I guess thats the genius of Scorcinelli. There is definitely a not too distant resemblance to a fresh cut piece of raw steak however if you hadnt mentioned the back story you wouldnt think of it. Having been around dead decayed bodies (dont ask) I can actually see what Scorcinelli came from however Fzotics Corpse Reviver is an even closer in your face joke resembling a cadaver yet some think its Black Forest cake 🙄😂. Nice scent but not my standout Unum.
Does it give off Hannibal? Not really. Yes, it smells dark but for his character, I’d say this one is a hard pass.
on it's own it's quite unwearable. i wouldn't say it smells somewhere at least near as those tiktok reviewers describe it (blood, meat and disturbance). it smells like grass, like a wild eastern european countryside, like a barn. for me it is only wearable if to layer it with Margiela's "from the garden". 2 sprays of But not today as base and 3-5 sprays of From the garden on top. Margiela will soften the sharp grassy notes and will add a bit of depth in this combination. as well the name for this fragrance was chosen really nice even not knowing the backstory with the movie. everytime i come to my parfumes shelf and take a look at this fragrance, i think of myself "well one day i will wear it again... but not today" NOT BLIND BUY SAFE.
I bought a tester of this after discovering it, a perfume inspired by my favourite film, Silence of the Lambs, and my favourite character, Clarice Starling? I could not get it out of my head and HAD to know what it smelt like. I didn’t know what to think, having read reviews saying it smelt like blood and meat and was unwearable. I don’t agree with that at all, but that’s just my opinion. The first thing that gets me is an overwhelmingly pine scent. Fresh, herbal, spicy. Very green and vegetative. And strong as well. Don’t spray too much, a little is quite potent. The dry down is much more feminine than the opening. A softer, woody, warm almost powdery scent. This is definitely more of a masculine leaning fragrance than feminine, but the dry down does make me wonder. But is not unpleasant or unwearable by any stretch of the imagination.
This brings back such an interesting memory- it smells like a fresh deck of cards. I specifically remember opening a deck of Hungarian playing cards that we used to play Preference with, and this is a 1:1 match for that smell. As a fragrance, though, it's not really for me. It's interesting, but there's a slightly BO-like aspect to it. I've experienced something similar with Eppicentro, though even more so there than here. As for the scent profile, it's very herbal, aromatic, and woody. It's also a touch vegetal, spicy, and somewhat cologne-like.
So flowery and mature on me. No blood whatsoever. Interesting but didn't pull me in. Still a wonderful airy floral , weirdly i get no amber.
It's been a couple of months with subsequent wears & I'm loving it more ! It's a very interesting perfume & that's coming from me, who can't stand animalics. It's just the backstory, the presentation, that created a horror element, but it's not like that. It's very wearable, just try it in real. No animalics, nothing blood-like, just some unusual greens like calamus & cascarilla, brought an alien element. Past the slightly musty opening, it soon transforms into a great ambery citrus. I find it both sexy & edgy. IG : @scentclouds YouTube : @scentclouds
It opened for me as the most generic manly perfume. But then it has worn off to a very distinct mugworts smell, which I personally really like because it gives me childhood memories from some sunny day in a field full of wild herbs. If you're looking for something like that, specifically mugworts - give it a try.
Artistic and interesting in the opening hour but too peppery, bitter and soapy, mostly from the galbanum. Not wearable for me. The bitter green facet goes on and on becoming tiresome. The sharp mossy galbanum aspects remind me of Morel Map by Clue. Wish the lightly animalic musk and cold incense hung around a little longer, because those were the parts I enjoyed the most oddly. The musk was fur like, pleasantly pissy. Don’t get the connection to the Hannibal inspiration.
I was so excited for this one. I get the story behind it, it starts with a sharp note of weird sweetness and evolves until the smell reminds me of funeral flowers. Imagine your eastern european babushka coming back from an open casket event. That's what this smells like after it dries. I couldn't pick up on any unsettling notes AT ALL which was disappointing because that's what i was looking forward to, since it's inspired by Hannibal. It's wearable and unique for sure, just not that 'dark' or 'scary'.
First of all, there are no notes of blood, meat, or the scent of slaughter. I wonder if the intention behind representing "Hannibal" was to capture the man himself? Because this perfume smells like an older man. but not just any old man, It smells like someone who takes impeccable care of himself and owns a vast library. I can feel the notes of wood, paper, and spices. If I smelled this without knowing the "Hannibal" theme, I wouldn't associate it with anything cruel or gruesome at all. In my opinion, it’s actually a very wearable and pleasant fragrance. But To be honest, I was expecting something more direct and grotesque. I'm sorry to say this.
Smells like walking into a very old dusty incense shop haha. Im not very good at picking out scents in perfume, but I loved the more earthy/spiced scents. I dont really understand the negative reviews or those saying it smells like meat. Just smells old and herbal. Either way definitely try a sample, 9.7/10. <|:0)
What an interesting perfume. From a strictly perfumery point of view, I think this is rather successful in what it sets out to do. As someone who works in a the medical field, I'm very familiar with the smell of blood and I do certain smell it in the back here. It's buried in the back of the greenness of galbanum and angelica but it's there. It's rather animalic too (styrax?) and kinda smoky (calamus, most likely). The man is definitely quite a character but a lot of the stuff I've tried I really enjoy. This one I thought I couldn't wear honestly but it's not bad at all, you just have to be ready for a very green and herbal scent with metallic overtones. It doesn't last that long but it's very volatile and airy, I can smell it in the air for a few hours when I move around. Spring is the season for it I would say, because of the greenness and herbal elements. Because the muskiness is very "furry", I just can picture a werewolf with this fragrance. A lot more than the Hannibal Lecter reference, to be honest. Fur, blood and greenness. Still surprisingly wearable if you're into unconventional fragrances (which I am).
Grab a can of salvaged nails and screws from the garage, shake it up, rub the dust on your wrists. Had a sample, couldn’t tolerate it on paper, couldn’t get it off my skin. Nobody will want to be near you.
I got a decant of this one just out of sheer curiosity and curiosity killed the cat. On the opening it smells minty. Like Vicks Vapo Rub. Remember the scene in Silence of the Lambs where the woman's body was pulled from the water and Clarice along with the medical examiner put the camphor beneath their noses to help with the decaying odor? That's this. Then there's a musty odor that I get from the oakmoss...maybe that is Buffalo Bill's dank dark well where he keeps his victims before he skins them. Then that blood note. That tiny blood note I get and flesh. Hannibal at the jail skinning the security guard. This scent is weird and scary and unusual and not one I'd have the full size of but interesting.
on my skin this is eau d'home depot
Very disturbing scent...
