Very Irresistible for men

I had it shortly after it hit the shelves in 2005-2006. I never liked sweet or gourmand perfumes but the nutty-vanilla-patchouli combinations have always left me in limbo, it's an exception., and I remember liking Very Irresistable on crisp cold evenings/night-outs, more so than A*Men. My ultimate patchouli-vanilla to this day is still the good old Zino - Davidoff, and I tend to lean onto fresher-muskier take on patchouli such as more recent Hermes - Barenia EDP or Zara's Fleur de Patchouli. If one day I like to get something like Very Irresistable, comparing from memory, I think I would check Kilian - Intoxicated (similar to A*Men but I recall similarities to Very Irresistable) as well as Zadig & Voltaire - This Is Him, which is again a coffeetchouli bordering on gourmand but it's more subtle and grounded. Caron - Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis is another one I could put for those in exploration which I already own, though on the nutty-vetiver theme with a hint of vanilla-ginger and cedar, the feeling I'm getting is similar to when I was using Very Irresistable, not in scent similarity but just that nutty gourmand aspect.

This OG is in my Top 10 of all time.

This, Douro by Penhaligon's, and Wild fern by Geo f Trumper, are the only three Cologne that a (gentle)man really need in his life. Along with the other two mentioned above this is the best perfume FOR MEN ever created.

Triple threat. This is a designer/ niche/ gourmand scent. If you don’t have this, you better stop what you’re doing, find it, don’t think about it and just get it.

Givenchy discontinued this beauty, this perfect fragrance and others... even Play which was amazing. Basically, this is why I stopped buying Givenchy perfumes. Now we have Transformers "Society" which is like a primitive, basic and no character line. I want this back Givenchy! EDIT: WE WANT THIS BACK!

They don't make like this one anymore. I remember I was a teenager in my nice clothes, wearing this, having my first french kisses, my first time etc.. Beautiful masculine fragrance that could have been worn only by someone who could represent it.. Very charismatic fragrance, beautiful....

Totally devastated by the discontinuation of this gem. It accompanied me during the most beautiful moments of my life. If it were to reappear now, it would trigger memories that would give me great happiness. Only a fragrance like this could produce that effect. I waited a long time, hoping it would show up again, but no. The prices on eBay are very high.I have tried some suggestions (Zara Ebony Wood, Kokorico, Diesel Only the Brave) in the comments below, but they are only similar; the aroma of VI was strong and defined, difficult to copy. That mint, soft coffee, sesame seed and hazelnut mix created a magical smell!!

What an outstanding fragrance. Unique! Character strength and mature. Not cloned yet ( as far as I'm aware) I owned 1 bottle. Compliment getter, as it is very smooth and not too imposing. Unfortunately discontinued. I'm a Gentlemen - middle aged - predominantly in an executive office environment wearing suits and representing with many official gatherings.

My first love. A fragrance my father bought in Paris, and which became my faithful companion throughout high school. It’s the scent of late autumn and early winter, of warm coats and scarves, cozy evenings in restaurants with your girlfriend. A fragrance of wealth, comfort, warmth, and peace. It’s night, winter, and a snowstorm outside, but you’re not afraid. Now I understand it better. It’s the scent of a classy man who could have any woman, but is rushing home to his family for Christmas or to meet his one true love. It’s seductive, but the focus is on deep, serious emotions, not fleeting affairs or love stories. That’s what draws so many women to it. I’ve always gotten compliments from women, and my friends noticed it too. It’s perfect for people 25 and older, but if you’re younger and already "established," it works for you as well. Otherwise, it might feel out of place — like a velvet suit on a thug. I ordered it from Italy in 2019. At first, it seemed the same, but the scent was weaker, it lasted only 1–2 hours, and there was a strange chemical note in it. When I compared it to a bottle from 2007, with only a few drops left, the new version just couldn’t compare. I won’t buy the watered-down version again at that price point, but the original fragrance will always have a special place in my heart. (Who am I kidding — I might finally get an original batch this time)

Have been looking for years to find something similar, still have around 1/5th of my original bottle. I find that Mulger A Men Fantasam is similar enough to pass. See if you can get a tester from somewhere and give it a go,

Instant love. Unique. Comfortable. Sexy. Despite its synthetic vibes, Very Irresistible was true to its name and inspired the most compliments. I believe I picked up my bottle for about $35 back in 2009 or so. Donated my bottle before leaving the country for a prolonged period of time and I regret it to this day.

A prototype for what was to come: a super fresh, lightly sweet, herbal/mint/citrus scent. Invictus or Eros but in the mid-2000s aesthetic. The grapefruit/citrus here isn't like modern grapefruits in the new DG Light Blues or Tygar. It's more of the 2000s-era synthetics citrus. Coffee is sort of there but it's that designer coffee over a synthetic nuttiness. But this all sits over a white musk and Iso E base that you'd find in similar era scents like YSL L'Homme. A lot of the reminds me of section makes sense. It's a mix of older school coffee/patch designer stuff (Attitude Extreme, Kokorico, A*Men) and newer sweet coffee/modern stuff (Greenstravaganza, Bad Boy). It sort of sits in between these, honestly. It's definitely designer, but it's not nearly as sweet as today's amberwood sweet things, but it sits in that lane. Longevity is decent, actually, around 6-8 hours with standard projection for an hour or so. All pretty normal for designer. A 7.5/10. It smells shockingly modern based on what's being released today and is one of a few that generates "hey you smell nice" comments at work, pretty regularly. Ahead of its time and not surprisingly discontinued (and Givenchy went the spicy clean and then iris-forward route).

First time i tested this perfume (December 2005) i was instantly smitten, it reminded me of a fresher take of A*Men (Which was and still is my winter signature), so it was no Surprise that i bought a bottle, and used the bottle within three months as it was quite a well complimented spring and cool summer evening scent. So i bought a few more bottles over the years and was gifted a few to a point where i had 10 sealed bottles by 2015. So I ended up giving a few away to friends and family (4 bottles in total), until I learned that it's been discontinued, so the other 6 bottles I kept, Flash forward to 2024 and I still have four sealed bottles and one which I just started using, so it's like 90 percent full,and I am using it sparingly and on nights out with friends and family as in 2024 this fragrance still gets Compliments from people. Now the scent to me opens up with a Minty Citrus blast with a nutty coffee like thing in the background, as it dries down the nutty coffee cones forward with something powdery (a rather light powder not enough to make it feminine), and stays that way till it's duration which is 8 hours on my skin and over 12 on my clothes. Pretty sad that this scent has been discontinued as it's a really seductive fragrance (as per the compliments). So all in all I am gonna keep my remaining bottles and use them sparingly and hope they don't go bad after a while (though over 10 years and these bottles still smell amazing, so perhaps it may last another 10 years, I'll try to use one bottle for two years at a time). 8/10 in all categories from me. An afterthought - I don't know if it just my nose, but ive smelt good girl by Carolina Herrera on a few people and there's something in there that reminds me a lot of the opening smell of Givenchy Very Irresistible for Men, ive looked up the notes and i assume it's the fact that Good girl contains notes of Coffee and a nutty note (almond in Good girls case and hazelnut in Givenchy Very Irresistible for Men), perhaps that association is all in my head, but I've sprayed both on each arm a few times and I still get that connection, but perhaps if anyone else has their bottle of Givenchy Very Irresistible for Men, can test it out with their Girlfriends or Siblings version of Good Girl, and let me know if they get that same vibe.

Simply the best perfumes ever made by givenchy!

This was my very first cologne as a teenager and it was a wild introduction to the world of fragrances. I've never smelled a fragrance with a drydown like this -hazelnuts- since.

I must be wrong but what I smell is sandalwood and lavender. It reminds me of TL pour lui and Zino by Davidoff.

I helped launch Very Irresistible Givenchy (VIG) in Dubai in 2005, and it became my signature evening scent. No other hazelnut or coffee fragrance comes close to this--Uomo Valentino is warmer and sweeter, and S.T. Dupont Noir is spicier.

This is suck a beautiful scent, and was my signature when it was still being made. Still fairly devastated that it was discontinued. Quite unique for the time and I find it has excellent longevity. I do still have one bottle in my wardrobe which I'm trying to eek out. Have yet to find something that compares really.

This is a weird smell at first but give it 5 10 minutes and its different at first is very sharp woody coffe and citruss , its the first time i smell something like this , i guess this is for more mature persons like 30 + , my mom really liked it and told me its very nice smell but for me i need some time to like this kind of smell ..

My husband loved this one but rare and expesnive to get a hold of ... does anyone know of another aftershave that is either a copycat or very similar? Thanks My husband now wears Paco Rabanne Dreamer but they are very different
