A really lovely, versatile gourmand. There’s no season or time of day where this would be out of place.
A warm, slightly sweet fougère where lavender sits over a smooth blend of vanilla and almond. As the fragrance settles, anise becomes more noticeable, adding a subtle gourmand character without overwhelming the composition. It belongs to the same family as Invasion Barbare, Antico Caruso and Le Male, although this leans a little more anise. Well blended, easy to wear and like. Personally, I'd probably choose something with the sweetness dialled back, but this is a very solid fragrance.
The main notes I get are lavender, vanilla, and anise. In reality it's a sweet powdery soft barbershop fragrance that is quite elegant and very unisex. It does not lean masculine or feminine in character. Very Italian, almost a gourmand like a cannoli but not quite. Who would like this? Well, if you are a fan of JPG Le Male, or Versace Eros, but find those too youthful and loud, you might love this. Think of this as a grown-up, dressed-up version of those fragrances; it's more linear and sits closer to the skin. Excellent evening dinner scent for all seasons. Men or Women could wear this. 25+ While I don't gravitate towards sweeter fragrances, I think this is a good composition and will give it a 7/10.
It might seem like a fairly ordinary scent, but I think 9 out of 10 people would find it appealing. It’s soft, warm, and gives off the image of a stable, reliable man. There’s also a subtle sweetness to it. I wear it casually as a daily fragrance during the fall and winter seasons.
I normally don't agree with most of the cons on this site but I get baby wipes from this. I personally don't want to smell like baby wipes. Good thing I only bought a sample.
Smells nice, but I was expecting/wanting more licorice and lavender and am mostly getting vanilla and almond.
It smells pretty good but lasts an hour if you overspray. 7.5
Very nice soft comforting classy scent, reasonably priced and well worth the 125ml. Quite similar to Frederic Malle L'Eau d'Hiver but for less than half the price on eBay and lasts much longer than FM. I imagine this to be wore by a real prince
Too heavy on anise and licorice, they dominate even citron notes, good performance.
Amazing, super frsh but yet complex, good performance , lovely scent
One of the best in my collection. Beautiful fragrance, perfect combination of spicy/aromatic notes with semi sweet base structure. it is more light than heavy. It is structured, deep, complicated. Moreover that price is so good, in that era of perfumes you rarely can take something good for low/medium price
Basically Ormonde Jayne Montabaco Verano and Zoologist Penguin.... but take out the tobacco from montabaco and take out the leather from penguin.... then make it soapy and a little bit baby powder ish. This is actually a better alternative than those i'd rather wear this one because it's soapy and fresh, just the grapefruits too sour for my personal taste. A bit like terre d'hermes and Roja elysium intense the citrus is too sour Edit - just realized this reminds me of F Black by Ferragamo
Very powdery, lots of lavender, licorice and star anise. Nutty as well. Of course, citruses in the opening. Spicy baby powder is an accurate description
Great opening, sharper than expected, though still somehow sweet and floral which is a unique combination to me. The floral sweetness usually comes with softer texture, but this is different. I like the bitterness as well. Could be one of the favs, though it seems that it doesn't last a lot.
First off it smelled like baby wipes then the either liquorice and/or black anise (they smell the same to me) kicks in. Now it smells like baby wipes you've used to wipe the smell of liquorice off your hands. If you're looking for a black anise scent, I'd go for black anise by Abel
So, I recently became intrigued (once again) with mixed (and slightly gourmand) almond-centric fragrances. After completing much research online and elsewhere, I decided to buy several, generous decants of almond, or Tonka-centric fragrances. And "1725 Casanova" is probably the "least" almond forward fragrance I sampled from the bunch. And I steer away from gender-categorizing fragrances. However, I think I would prefer this scent on a guy versus a woman. As many others have cited, 1725 opens with a definite citrus blast and a rather lavender-heavy, "barber-shop" accord, which is okay...definitely not offensive. As the fragrance develops on skin, some almond notes emerge, along with anise and woods. There's definitely discernible almond in the drydown (base) but not a whole lot. Yet, almond does emerge along with the lavender and the woody, ambery, vanilla notes. And as the fragrance develops on skin, it definitely turns a bit powdery and soapy...barbershop. I like 1725's drydown and base notes much more so that it's opening. But throughout the wear, which is 4-5 hours, floral lavender notes linger and dominate...which is fine if this is what you're seeking. Lavender, amber, vanilla and almond. It's a nice fragrance.
Smells like summer holidays at the aqua park.
From what I remember, a weak fougère, nothing special — there’s a sweetness like in Scandal, At the Barbers, but it’s darkened by an unthoughtful dose of persistent spices. Definitely oriental, because the cloud of “greenery” becomes creamy, like in some d’Argent or the darker Chanel Pour Monsieur. It’s not sparkling, and the thing spreads out… like a much worse Beau de Jour. I think it’s not rich but narrow, working with one quite straightforward idea, similar to Fougere Nobile, which is probably even more hopeless. No relation to the nuanced and multi-layered Invasion Barbare. Here, there’s bad amber, bad, tinted resin, proposed as a variant of barber orientalism — which reminds me of some drugstore flagships like La Nuit, The One, or something like that; it might even have something of a spill of Musc Ravageur, but in a bad style.
a sweet, slightly spicy, powdery scent. it's cozy. a little warm. think candied ginger and fragrant lavender almond cookies and very light baby powder. it's really pleasant actually, but i probably wouldn't describe it as sexy. it evokes more so a prim and proper, well-groomed gentleman, and particularly one on the younger side— and who doesn't like that? then again, maybe tidiness *is* sexy. i wear this to bed sometimes and i wake up feeling rejuvenated the next morning.
Finally added this to my collection after many years of careful consideration. Perfect, mellow fougere, bright bergamot in the opening What sets this apart is the herbal aspect, and to me it's almost a smooth blend of thyme, bay leaves, maybe cardamom or something? This works so well with coumarin, and the mossy, classic structure of a fougere. This fragrance is very similar to Invasion Barbare which has this similar herbal note/accord turned up to 11, this is slightly toned down from base to top, but essentially the same and this was the main reason I hadn't bought it because I wanted the MDCI but reality is... it's a little pricey and such but you could definitely own both and find distinctions between them for all their likeness. This is just such a satisfying and classical wear, such a joy.
Horrible openning/mid, Perfect dry-down
A sweet/spicy scent that's not too overpowering. It's very pleasant but it's a bit more powdery than I like. Slightly masc leaning, lasts 6 hours or so, and projects well.
it's very similar to Yerbamate by Lorenzo Villoresi, a really nice one 👌
1725, inspired by the famous libertine Casanova, is delicate and delightful. We do indeed get a sparkle of citrus and a hint of anise in the opening -- and then we're on to pale, clean talcum powder, with a distinct almond-y flavor. Apparently I have a post-reformulation version and the original was lustier. This doesn't say "ladies' man" to me, it says "'clean and pretty." But I do like powdery almond scents.
Spicy baby powder.
This is as if , 2 different parfums has been made , before 2015 products and after 2015. Before 2015 its more masculine, its more smells like Invasion Barbare parfum . It was smelled like modern and high quality berber shop fragrance. But after 2015 , in my opinion, formula has changed, more powdery, more amber, more vanilla . Because of this reason , this parfum chracters also changed. Now it s more unisex. It would bee better adding musk and pachuli or guiac wood notes instead of almond and amber. I think the almond is the effect badly parfum balance . You can see this changing , when you read reviews, also parfums rewievs has been changing . Why Histories DP brand did this formula changing.
It's a nice unisex scent but it disappears after one hour. Not worth the price.
Very sweet and powdery. Vanillin is unbalanced to the point of covering even the top notes. Anise is a good touch, though. Almond manages to ruin the rest of it. LL and IB are better options, by a long shot.
not as safe of a blind buy as i thought it would be actually surprisignly. it took me a few days at least of trying it out to get used to it and grow to like it. the opening to me in a way feels abit astringent, could be something about the bitter almond combined with lavender and bergamot and it gives off shower spray vibes sometimes. with that being said it does feel pretty and fresh and develops quite nicely it's a more balanced scent that is quite unlike anything else i have tried. i find invasion barbare much superior to this tho in terms of quality and overall scent.
