Love this, started wearing it in 90's and its the only fragrance I still buy continuously. Sillage and longevity are not as good as they used to be, but then the same can be said for most stuff.

I always loved this perfume, I have the modern reformulation. It just does not last long enough. Does anyone know of a higher oil concentration dupe of this? Like a extrait or parfum from another perfumer by chance?

This was my grandpas go to that I would always smell after he got done shaving blasting himself with a splash of old spice. Smells good but is basic. basic can be good though!

Such a classic. In the 90s and early 00s the ladies used to love this. Very masculine but it was modern for the time. Starts off with a sharp apple bite and leaves you with this bitter 90s cologne scent. For an EDT it performed so well. I've applied in the morning at 7am, warmed up at 1pm and it came booming off me. My first ever perfume. A classic one with great performance and easy to wear. Universal for all kind of events.

I stumbled upon a 2006 limited edition bottle (Prestige Beaute). New for $20 if you can believe it. It is deep. It's like taking a bit of a green apple and smelling a forest floor. Very interesting and unique. Def has a vintage profile to it.

A fresh, crisp fragrance that is never overpowering. The balance of the sour apple with the slight woodiness is really pleasant. It's very much a Spring scent, like walking into an orchard in early May. It does lack a bit in the intrigue and depth department; it stays pretty one-note throughout, and the sourness can start tickling my nose if I sit with it for too long. Performance is mediocre, usually doesn't last me more than a few hours.

Timeless. Very nostalgic for me, as men around my house used to wear this a lot when I was growing up. I loved it back then and I love the new version now. Wish the reformulated version was more like this one. One of my all time favourites.

One of the first fragrances I got in the '90s as a 20 something. What I learned about fragrances and Niche and even in designer, the word "chemically synthetic" came from this first Boss. The notes smelled really nice, but they were overshadowed by that chemical synthetic smell and a lot of Abercrombie and Fitch fragrances in the beginning had this same exact synthetic chemical smell. It's funny if we all smell this now we'd pick up that smell in a second.

Hello dears, where can i find this masterpiece?

I remember I got one of those sample gift sets in 95 or 96 for Christmas that contained a 5ml bottle of this, I always remember it being fairly unique smelling and very enjoyable to wear. I'm attempting to track down everything I used to wear back then and I recently found a vintage 40ml bottle for £20. It's very pleasant, just as I remembered, defo falls into the office safe category. Doesn't project too much, a good thing, but I could still smell it quite strongly when I woke up this morning, so a 10/10 for longevity. No idea what current formulations are like. Glad I picked this up, I'll revisit it every once in a while, another old friend i'm glad I caught back up with.

I was gifted this Hugo around 2005. I also had Polo Black and Burberry Touch at the time but this is the fragrance that really got me into it all. I found it to be more complex and intriguing with a burst of bright citrus and spicy wood notes. I was also given a small bottle of the newer Hugo Man a year ago but I honestly didn't like it at all; too apple forward and synthetic. I think Hugo Extreme is a much closer experience to the OG but on steroids.

This is one of the very first fragrances I ever wore back in the late 90’s early 00’s when I depended on my mum to be my fragrance supplier. I loved it. It got a lot of attention and it was a bit under the radar considering the brand etc. Back in those days (God I sound old) brands like Creed etc were unknowns to regular folk like us, so designer, mall brands were the pinnacle of the fragrance world. Anyway I ran out of juice and moved on to something new. We never really had the threat of a fragrance being discontinued so you didn’t immediately go out and get another bottle in case they suddenly disappeared forever.. plus there were so many great fragrances coming out in that era that you didn’t need to linger on the past like you do now. Sooo fast forward 25 years and something jerked my memory about this fragrance.. no idea what.. but I started looking into it again. Apparently it’s been reformulated numerous times and isn’t like the original.. so I set about looking for an older variant. After a couple of months I managed to find a 2011 bottle. 125ml and still in the cellophane. I was SO excited to spray this!!…. Buttttt it’s actually quite bad. Very one dimensional and some might say bland. Trust me it brought back a ton of memories of me going out with my pals as a 16 year old.. but the fragrance itself isn’t actually that good. I guess I’ll die on the Boss For Men hill as it played such an integral part of my late teen years and my fragrance journey. So I will bust this out every so often but if you’ve got no history with it I wouldn’t bother.

Whenever I see the bottle and recall the scent I believe that every man from age 16 to 25 should experience it (own it) at least once... this fragrance bursts with youth, freshness, and pure happiness 10/10

Hits you with crisp green apple and pine – fresh? Yes. Groundbreaking or memorable? Not really. It's the definition of a safe, clean, perfectly decent scent that just kind of... exists. Does the job if you want straightforward freshness without making waves. Exactly average, pretty forgettable.

Overall light and easy to wear fresh and clean. What stands out is its longevity (on my skin). Very pleasant to wear. A great summer fragrance. Not necesarily a scent used by larger crowds - you will recognize the smell immediately. I used 3 bottles in my past (since it was launched in the 90ies). I'm a Gentlemen - middle aged - predominantly in an executive office environment wearing suits and representing with many official gatherings.

The current formulation of Hugo still has a pleasant scent, but it lacks the special quality that the bottles from the 90s possessed. I recently received a bottle of Hugo Man through a swap, and as soon as I sprayed it on, it transported me back to the one I had in the 90s. That special magic was definitely present. If you’re looking for that classic 90s Hugo experience, I recommend getting Hugo Man and step into the time machine.

The vintage formula is an amazing creation. Simple and one dimensional but not boring. Green-piney, woody, masculine freshness. l use this day or night in spring, summer and autumn. The sillage and longevity satisfies me. I can detect it on myself almost 7 hours after application with maximum 4 sprays. The newest formula leads to another direction. It's extremely difficult to find an old bottle these days.

Basic fresh cheapy fragrance. Smells decent enough and can be picked up for a cheap price. Id only wear this on very warm or hot days as its very very fresh. Not bad but wouldn't purchase again, good for a gym frag. 4.5/10

It's alright, but definitely greener than I was expecting. Less apple and lavender than I wanted. Fairly woodsy/floral on the dry down. Synthetic-y in a way that could maybe trigger a headache in some, but smells clean and masculine. I can see why some people are calling this old-school, but I wouldn't say it's "old-school" in a dated way. Youths can easily pull this off. Also... I might be crazy, but to me, it smells like there's a hint of tequila in the top notes. Mostly disappears in the dry down, but it does linger for a while after spraying. Will likely edit this review a bit after I've had more time with it. 7.5/10

No. Just not. It smells like an annoying egotistical ridiculously dressed young male who listen to rap or some idiotic psedudomafia guy. Its a super boring too.

A nice clean smell ✅ Last long ❓ did not last long on my skin, but it may others. This is the type of fragrance that I would put on after a shower at night. 2 or 3 sprays and not too over powering. Bought this in the sales as a blind buy so very pleased with my purchase because of the very low price . It will be one of my type of fragrances to buy if on sale.

Old school, very green and lasts around 6 hours!

This is an old but totally underrated fougere shower gel fragrance in the same genre as PDM Percival, Mont Blanc Legend, CK Eternity, Adidas Ice Dive, Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce, Chanel Platinum Egoiste and even Dylan Blue. Note that all of the above are big compliment-getters. To me Hugo is not outdated or old-school at all, it smells modern and sporty. One of my favorites.

I have a vintage bottle with 0.5 cm left I sometimes open just to cheer myself up but never use anymore. It has an après rasage top instead of a sprayer. There's nothing of a kind today. It would elevate you into a world of being protected underwater with Selkies dancing around you offering you fruits and spa services being kind to you and will never hurt you. It was the smell of extreme exotic elegance and kindness. %100 original while %100 classic. %0 Offensive/ boring/ antiperspirant/ deodorant. I'd wear it to school just a tiny bit and it would stay eternally till washing machine and classmates around me would say "Wow what smells so good?" It would just shift the air and the day into something better hypnotic and fantastic. I wasn't around in the 1950's but I guess this had the freshness of a barbershop before barbershop was a synonym for dirty oud and boring wood. If I had to rename it I'd call it: 🌊🦭Sheltered by Waves🦭🌊 There's nothing in the frag industry like it today. The new formula is cheap, dirty, nauseating, basically boys antiperspirant. I sniff the new version every now and then hoping maybe the new formulas has gone closer to it's roots. New formula is also longevity garbage and disrespect to consumers. This was a dream fleeting. It lived up to its look. Contrast between extreme originality and total tradition while being sheer green fantastic. It was eating an apple flavored popsicle in a lavender field after a shave. I miss you.

First time I got it back 1999 when I was a teenager, a lot of memories with it😔. Too bad The New version is weaker

The green freshhhh spice, woody and slightly sweet fruity notes blend so well i love it. The apple is present and attendance was taken, the popular kids citrus and lavender are sleeping in the back of the class as well. Good sillage and longevity. Personally speaking, one of the only fresh spice colognes I like.
