Vanille Havane

Super heavy dose of vanilla and cigar-ish tobacco. Beautiful fragrance but needs a super cold environment to work.

Impression off the sample... Although this is rich smelling, the tobacco leaf, albeit photorealistic, is just not for me. It immediately went into the reject pile that I give to my buddies. Im glad I got all the samples and didn't just buy this based on hype and reviews. Probably an unpopular opinion, but people should be aware this house is niche, high quality, and some smell incredibly vintage, which I like. I have never been a big tobacco fragrance lover, but I do like the Herod from PDM, which smells baller AF.

More like rum havane. It's not really about vanilla but more about rum, chocolate, amber and dried apricots. Is a really nice fragrance and prolly with the best ingredients out there, maybe a bit too gourmand and sweet. It reminds me of vanilla diorama but darker and boozy

Taking a quick stop back into the world of Les Indémodables, I wanted to revisit Vanille Havane and what makes this fragrance so interesting. One thing I really appreciate about the brand is their dedication to rare and authentic materials. Similar to the real ambergris tincture used in Ambre Suprême, Les Indémodables has a strong focus on working with exceptional ingredients and telling a story through them. With Vanille Havane, that story begins with the discovery of “Russian leather,” a forgotten material brought back to life through an artisanal tanning technique. After securing a small amount of this rare leather, the team took on the challenge of capturing its scent in perfumery, something that had never been done before. So with that material-driven approach in mind, I was curious to see what this one had to offer had to offer. The opening of Vanille Havane is a really enjoyable blend of rum, tobacco, and dried fruits. The rum gives it a rich, boozy warmth, while the dried fruit accord adds a natural sweetness. Some people have mentioned that the fruit note can come across slightly banana-like, and I can understand where that impression comes from, but I do not find it unpleasant at all. Then comes the star of the fragrance, in my opinion, which is the tobacco. In French, “Havane” translates to Havana, referring to the famous Havana cigar, Havana tobacco, and even the tobacco-brown color. That name fits the fragrance perfectly. The tobacco here is not overly smoky or harsh. It feels like walking into a traditional cigar shop and smelling the actual tobacco leaves, with a natural, slightly earthy quality and perhaps even a subtle funk that I’m guessing comes from the leather material used. It is not a dirty tobacco note, but rather a refined, realistic tobacco with a slight rustic character that gives the fragrance personality. It adds a layer of realism and personality to the fragrance, although it may not appeal to everyone. After about 10 to 20 minutes, the fragrance starts to deepen. The tobacco remains the main focus, but the composition becomes a little sweeter as the dried fruit accord develops. Despite the name, this is not a typical sweet vanilla fragrance. The sweetness never becomes childish or overly gourmand. Everything feels smooth, mature, and very well blended. After around an hour and a half to two hours, the base starts to appear, bringing in more warmth through amber and vanilla. Even at this stage, the fragrance stays mature and elegant. The warmth I get from Vanille Havane comes mainly from the combination of rum and tobacco. Personally, I get much more “Havane” than “Vanille,” and, I think that is exactly what makes it so interesting. There is also a subtle cacao and chocolate-like nuance underneath that adds depth without pushing the fragrance into dessert territory. This is what makes Vanille Havane such a refreshing take on a cool-weather scent. It avoids the overly sweet, syrupy gourmand direction that many newer fragrances, especially designer releases, are moving toward. The vanilla stays in the background, the fruit notes remain controlled, and the tobacco gives the fragrance a mature character that really sets it apart. I would say Vanille Havane leans masculine because of the tobacco elements, but I think it can easily be worn by anyone who enjoys this style of fragrance. During the drydown, when the tobacco becomes a little softer and the vanilla, fruit, and amber notes become more noticeable, it becomes even more approachable. Vanille Havane is a great fragrance. It is not just a vanilla scent with tobacco added on top. It is a refined tobacco fragrance where vanilla, rum, fruit, cacao, and amber all work together beautifully. It feels mature, creative, and like a great example of what happens when a brand truly focuses on the quality and character of its materials.

Absolute holy grail for dark sexy vanillas with tobacco-y facets, it’s SO good!

dried stone fruits, sweet wines, beautiful smoke, tobacco but unfortunately it looses volume on my skin where on paper it becomes dense and silky on my skin it is airy and somewhat shallow. shame because it is absolutely incredible

I will admit that it sometimes takes me a while to come around to a fragrance. To find appreciation in the work itself as well as the work of the perfumer. The recent work of Antoine has opened my eyes to how great he really is. That's not necessarily the reason why I chose to wear Vanille Havane this evening. It's a strange day over here in California. We are right in the middle of summer. It's typically 100° Fahrenheit, and right now it's overcast and barely 80°. So I thought this type of vanilla in the summer evening would be perfect. Dark tobacco, sweet cocoa dried fruit. A little bit of whatever and a lot of high-quality vanilla. Natural as can be. It's perfect with SADE playing in the background. It does bug me however. How many other fragrances have I blown off? Quite a few I'm sure. Maybe this one in particular because it was over hyped and I generally distrust a fragrance when that happens. Apparently I was wrong. Again. That and I still think the price is ridiculous. How much is it now? Never mind. Don't tell me. I also heard about the others. And how about that new one called the secret? Or something like that. It's all about the chase isn't it? I do think it's worth the price. I just can't afford the price. But this I'm sure would smell great on a man. Especially an attractive man. Or a confident attractive woman. It commands that type of look. This fragrance is not recessive by any means. It is for DADDIES. No matter who you are.

Hyper masculine and mature to my nose, almost gives vintage Guerlain. What comes through are very strong cigar and rum notes; there is vanilla but it is light. I imagine a 65+ year old man wearing this.

If you're from New Zealand you can probably relate....Vanille Havane smells like our Manuka Honey in the opening.

Ts is dior ambre nuit espirit but in a 50-100ml bottle there is 0 different i dont smell cacao nor vanilla its rum and amber

This is a game-ending vanilla for me. The search is over. It’s in another league. Gorgeous and, in my opinion, very versatile. Now I can relax. Thank you, Antoine Lie. This is perfection.

Wanted to like this but it smells like overripe bananas. Smells VERY similar to Dolce Amalfi by Xerjoff, like scary close which is not what I was expecting.

A lot of people have already talked about the notes of this fragrance, but I want to talk about the feeling it gives me instead. I keep wondering how I went so long without discovering this scent. I’ve always loved alcohol- and tobacco-themed fragrances, but this is on another level entirely, in my opinion. I honestly feel like I can’t praise this perfume enough. It’s so, so different. Just try it for yourself. But one thing is certain: this is absolutely a winter fragrance.

Reminds me of the scent of mulled wine. It does not smell like mulled wine it just reminds me of it. Dry fruity smell that’s all the way boozy mixed in with vanilla and cashmeran. I do not get the tobacco, which I assume “havane” is a reference to. I can appreciate its appeal to some but it just doesn’t give me the joy I seek from my frags.

Great boozy and tobacco fragrance. As its own signature scent and is really complex. A lot better than the Tom ford vanilla tobacco.

Vanille Havane, where have you been all my life? This might be my new favorite fragrance after years of wearing Herod as my main tobacco-frag. This is adult territory right here, and we're talking well-dressed, sophisticated grown-up male-type of vibe with Vanille Havane. I'm of the opinion that you need to look the part if you're going to wear this, age 30+ upwards and you know your blazers, shoes and style. Otherwise you risk looking silly. You can tell they used quality ingredients with this, the notes are so well done and everything smells quite natural. It's difficult to find anything lacking here. Rum, which is not my usual like, is done discreetly and so well that it's just gorgeous. Leather is very subtle as well. Everything is so well-blended that it's just beautiful and seductive. Vanille Havane is a new favorite! 🌟🤩

Vanille Havane starts with a rum soaked banana, sprinkled with cinnamon, and an occasional whiff of photo realistic cigar so true to life you can smell the actual leaves wrapping it and feel their soft papery texture. There is smoke from the cigar as well but it’s very faint. And surrounding all that a potent leather note. As it dries down the tobacco and cinnamon begin to dominate the booze and the other notes. There’s a little bit of vanilla as a base but it’s subtle, and a little fruity edge to the tobacco. At this stage Vanille Havane seems like it is going to resemble Divine Vanille as a tobacco forward fragrance misleadingly named with a very minor vanilla. But then in the last hour or hour and a half you finally get the rush of vanilla- it’s so plush and rich and just lightly tinged by tobacco. During the first hour or so of Vanille Havane’s life on the skin it is at its most intense and there’s a distinct leather note causing it to feel masculine. But the dry down is unisex. It lasts 7-8 hours on skin wearing close to the body after the first hour or two.

From the bottle I get all the sweet delicious notes, the rum, dried fruits, sweet floral. It smells like you could drink it. But on my skin I just get amber, leather and tobacco.

Many have pointed the banana smell and that is true. You must love banana.

the first 25 minutes it is VERY rum heavy with hints of tobacco (which im not much of a fan) but i trusted the process. once it starts to dry down a bit, the strength of the rum note starts to dial down and the cocoa starts to appear more with the tobacco still there (amazing). after a few more hours, the rum is not really detectable to my nose, its mostly just cocoa and vanilla. the dry down is so much better than the opening in my opinion. VH is an amazing fragrance that transitions smoothly, but given the name, its kinda deceiving. it lasts a pretty long time and projects well for the first 2-3 hours. if you plan on getting it, do not judge it off the initial spray, PLEASE let it dry down!!!! i give it a 4.2 out of 5

everytime i wear this fragrance i enjoy every whifs of it.. its well very well done lasting and projection is average 10-12 hours with 2 hours of projection 8/10

At first, to me it smelled strongly of coffee and rhum. It wasn't really my cup of tea, no pun intended :p But after 20-30min the harsher scents fade to reveal a wonderful cozy, warm, rich aroma. It's giving millionaire women at a very posh ski lodge, sipping a glass of expensive rhum by the fire after a day of winter activities and hot cocoas. I just feel envelopped by the smell and can't get enough!
