She's not chaste; she drenches herself in powder, thinking it will hide the lingering smells of cigarettes clinging to her clothes. Mysterious and mischievous, she feigns innocence.

It opens like L'Heure Bleu but... A little better? Less soapy, a little creamier. Just like Guerlain it uses the kind of vanilla that agrees with me and is not very headache inducing, but this one is a little sweeter, like a vanilla pudding. It then becomes spicy, floral, a little indolic. It leans a little bit into the plasticky jasmine accord of LouLou, but it's a little more balanced and better blended. I understand why it's a cult classic, I have yet to decide if it's bull bottle worthy for me, I just have a little similar perfumes in my collection- but the bottle design is beautiful, so maybe!

I was researching incense notes and decided to buy this based on the reviews here, and the fact it was only £41/75ml on a trusted website. It arrived about an hour ago and I'm in love. I couldn't have imagined anything better than this beauty. Incense, but spicy, smoky, powerful and rich. As an elder goth who went to a convent school it's perfect. Thanks to all who have shown me the way, I'm going to buy a 2nd bottle while it's this price. EDIT: This evening I applied it straight after a bath, without any body lotion. It smells completely different than it has on other occasions; it's more resinous and floral, definitely petitgrain and mimosa, with a note I assume to be the mastic. I love both. Skin chemistry is the strangest thing, and I have an M.Sc in physics, so have studied strangeness in quantum mechanics.

This is a cross between 80s Chantilly spray edt and Commandaria Cypriot dessert wine. Add smokiness to the Chantilly and subtract the sweetness of the dessert wine and you’re there. It’s divine. I love it. I just received mine and I’m giving it a first trial run today. I can tell this is a keeper. This is a year-round perfume. It is not season specific. It’s classic and would be a great signature scent for a woman who is a challenge and a mystery.

Some of these reviews always make me laugh… Are they written ChatGPT? I purchased my bottle of Habinita when I went to make my own perfume in Grasse! (An incredible experience) At Moulinard! I have always loved Habinita. It lasts a very long time on my skin. It is evocative of the deep mysterious Oriental Fragrances, full of incense and smoke, that I adore! I have had my bottle for 10 years because I have so many great perfumes. And it’s still is one of my favorites - a consistent top performer!

Down history lane #2 – Habanita Habanita, a perfume launched in 1921, is a symbolic creations in my opinion. According to the Molinard website, it was released in the form of small satchels ment to be put into cigarette packs to cover up the scent of tobacco. From my point of view, thats both a sign of emancipation and a herald for the times that were to come. The mere gesture of a woman smoking, a vice associated mostly with men back then, tells a story of liberation whilst the attempt to cover up the scent of tobacco signifies an inclination towards the clean and elegant aesthetics and a sign of increasing awareness in this regard. I never had the chance to sample the legendary Chanel No. 5 yet and i won’t rest easy untill i do but i have a mental picture of how it smells like. How accurate that image is, i don’t know, but i always pictured it smelling relatively simple, clean, powdery, dense but also admitedly dated. I’ve got the chance to test Amouage Gold Man which is supposedly similar and that one bludgeoned me with this dated aspect. Habanita to me comes across as a modernised version of that “dated” mental image i hold of the Chanel, but truthfully it could be the result of smelling a newer formulation. Its a musky, soft powdery fragrance with make-upy and white floral aspects that confer it a pampering sensation. Its one of those fragrances one could wear to bed due to its soothing nature in my opinion. Before i continue with my impression i’d like to make a disclaimer. When i talk about accords or compositions that feel dated, i don’t do it with a negative connotation. Its just an observation on my part because frankly, i often favor dated perfumes and things in general because they are nostalgic and reminiscent of old-times glamour. Having said that, powdery notes smell dated when they are suffocatingly dense and white florals come across so when they are heady and indolic. These notes, altho present in Habanita, are finely balanced hence why they feel modern and up-to-date to my nose. The make-upy side of the scent isn’t hefty or thick like many Irises create it for example. Its light and softly administered and so is the jasmine. There’s a slight resinous part to the fragrance but it mingles perfectly with the musk and powder, thus giving a bit of texture to the composition. It might only be my own perception but in the late drydown, the musk gets accentuated and gains a skin-like, carnal-leaning aspect and the vanilla comes out. Habanita has some feminine leaning components but the overall composition and the drydown pulls it into unisex territory. If the right deal shows itself on one of the facebook groups, i honestly doubt i’ll hold back from picking up a bottle. I would be honored to have it in my collection and not only for the historic significance but due to presentation and scent aswell.

Baby powder+. Clean and powdery, the mastic dominates the opening with a vintage sourness that smells like old makeup compacts, mothballs, or an overdose of aldehydes. Lurking beneath are soft pink rose, sweet vanilla, and sandalwood continuing the powder affair into the drydown as if finely ground. Moderately strong projection for 3-4hr, longevity 12hr+. A strange mistress, she could also be mistaken to have a strong incense accord. It even gets a little smoky as a skin scent.

PLEASE! Has ANYONE tried the Latest Larger, Black with Gold "Lattice design" bottles of Habanita? I've procrastinated too long bc Ive read that a "Bad Batch" with atrocious performance was going arounf and have unfortunately missed out on getting the awesome looking "Nudes bottle" from a reputable dealer, but for a good price bc itd be a blind-buy plus that "Bad Batch" risk that I mentioned, but Im interested in getting atleast whats currently available which is the Gold/Black bottle. I keep waiting for a Re-Stock of the 2.5 Classic bottle design for a reasonable price, but after months of waiting, its been pointless. Id appreciate any feedback to my question.. CHEERS!😉 *** P.S.*** Oh and I highly recommend Habanita La Cologne (Clear Bottle/Yellow liquid) "Unisex", Powdery, VERY slight Citrus in the opening, with a Slightly vanillic, almost "Almondy" dry-down with really good performance ESPECIALLY for a "Cologne concentration." The La Cologne is so nice that its what now REALLY has me wanting the Original Habanita edp, Plus the collector in me wants the bottles to match which is why I so want the og bottle design, but in the end I guess Ill take what I can get.. Darnit!! Lol😁

@ Fenissa Do you have atopic or dry skin? No problem 4 me with longevity and you can increase it with a layer of moisturizer before applying your perfume.

If the future is all of us wearing sterile ozone salty or non descript fruity-musky “non-offensive in the elevator watered-down” compositions then the future is very drab and boring. And not what fragrance was designed to be. Wear Habanita loud and proud as this is what it was created for. Let’s make it live through the times. It’s not the only one, but one of many we should preserve.

Gorgeous fragrance. An ode to ylang ylang, on my skin at least. I wish it lasted longer on me, as my aforementioned skin seems to devour it within 2-3 hours, though such a lack of performance won't hinder me from constant re-application. I will always have it in my collection. It's a beloved classic for a reason. If you enjoy ylang ylang and/or powdery scents, this would probably be a safe blind buy. The only downside, as I say, is quite a fleeting longevity.

I adore this. I have one bottle that I have been milking for a couple of years, that’s how much I don’t want it to end. This is the ultimate powder fragrance, You’re in a marble bathroom as a dancer in the opera in 1924 in Paris, and this is what you spray to keep your admirers around. You put powder on yourself with giant fluffy pink cushions, and glide around in silk satin indoor dresses cut in the bias. This is old school ballerina cocotte powder, a world of ostrich feathers and morning lights and airy curtains flowing from the delicate summer breeze warming the inside of your French mansion. It’s a really fabulous scent, as it achieve the ultimate powdery scent without being one sided or flat, it is sophisticated, elegant, not stiff, not really old school at all despite the old school notes. I think it may be thanks to the woody notes in it. I have not tried the other versions of this scent or anything by Molinard, so I’m unable to compare.

Smells like Chanel No. 5 edt married a giant heliotrope plant, and they sat on the porch smoking Swisher Sweets in the evenings.

A fragrance that dares to be different. It smells better than I imagined. The mastic comes forward right away, with its very distinctive scent that I always struggle to put into words, but let me try: woody, spicy, resinous, perhaps even faintly tobacco-like, though more of a green tobacco. At first there’s a slight peppery impression, which later shifts into something clean, like old-fashioned soap. It’s a masterfully balanced blend that gives the perfume a very unusual character, and yet, not an unpleasant one. Habanita is soft, powdery, comforting. It feels like the perfume of a lady’s boudoir at the end of the 19th century: carved wooden moldings, a dressing table strewn with powders, a porcelain basin paired with a bar of vintage soap. I don’t know if I could actually wear it myself, but there is undeniably something magnetic and intriguing about it. And the bottle is stunning.

After wearing Habanita La Cologne almost all winter last year, I was a bit nervous about trying the “black Habanita.” Reviews made it sound like an absolute dark bomb! Turns out, I didn’t need to worry. Compared to LC, I’d even say LC feels stronger - more citrusy and sharper at the start. Habanita, on the other hand, is smooth, powdery, yet still spicy, and very earthy. In a way, black Habanita feels like LC after the citrus fades and the drydown begins. While I enjoy the changing nature of LC, Habanita gives me that powdery smoothness right from the start - and that’s something I really appreciate. Might even try to combine these two someday, since the projection of LC is much longer.

Is this supposed to be a little spicy or did I get the bad batch? Really powdery wood if that’s a thing. Very unisex. A bit odd. Holy crap is that a powder bomb. Husband loves it. Sillage is enormous. He said he could smell me the moment he opened the door. Said it was like walking into a wall. It has a choking quality though and my throat is now a bit sore and my eyes are a bit watery. Nice smell just wish I was wearing less of it.

If you happen to be looking for the scent usually sold in small shops within greek orthodox churches, the so called "Myro" (not to be confused with myrrh), this is it in a perfume form. Wait for a few moments for the almost kitchen herbs element to deflate and you are left with the most greek orthodox church smelling scent I have been able to find. Vintage florals, spice and even though not mentioned, well blended incense.

I went to the Molinard boutique in Grasse today determined to buy this one, based only on the reviews...after I tested it I realised it's quite similar to Paloma Picasso EDP and some other fragrances I own, so in the end I decided not to buy it. Longevity wise..about 7+ hours on my skin. It's definitely a classic, but if you already own PP, or something in that realm, you might not need this. The bottle is gorgeous though.

How do I even describe this 1920's beauty? Starts out earthy, medicinal, green, woody, musky and slightly sweet, and as it dryes down becomes a bit sweeter, powdery with a smoky facet with soapy vibes. Beast mode on my skin. Feels classy yet witchy. Easily unisex. Love.

This totally SUCKS! I really want to get a bottle of Habanota, but I'm. so damned worried about getting a bottle from :The bad batch" which would be just MY luck!! Grrr

I guess Habanita has been having batch issues which is a shame. I got a secondhand, near-full big bottle that appears to be just fine and I'm loving it. I may even be in danger of it becoming my signature scent... The vetiver, nutmeg, and mastic resin really are on full display here. This is so earthy, despite also being VERY sweet. It's borderline gourmand. It dries down to that more patchouli, warm amber that is very nice. It's definitely got a wider aura at first, but it becomes more interpersonal and close as time goes on. Unfortunately, on me, it doesn't last too long. Maybe 4 hours at the very max. The only disappointment! And it goes without saying- the bottle is gorgeous.

As always I try to do as much research as possible whenever Im doing a "Blind-Buy" which is usually EVERY TIME I BUY, lol! And so I watch YouTube reviews, Check forums, check out Reddit and most def check folks comments out here on Fragrantica. Anyhow, Ive been eyeing this fragrance for about a year now, and was planning on purchasing a full bottle like literally (TODAY), but after reading your good people's crappy experiences about all of these batch Quality Control issues, there's no way Ill be throwing my hard earned money away for ANYTHING that'll last about and hour or two! And with my luck I'll wind up getting "The problem batch". Just wanna say, that though so many people and Fragrance reviewers on YT trash and complain about Fragrantica, Its been KEY to how I chose my fragrances and I really do find the comments/reviews all you fine people make here to be truly SUPER HELPFUL! Saves me/us Cash, frustration and helps me figure out which direction ill be going in when it comes to deciding on a purchase or not. Again, THANK YOU GUYS! And may I speak for everyone and say how much it SUCKS that ya'll had to go through the BS! And I think that (most) of us fellow Frag-Heads can relate to ya'll's frustration. Its easy for the manufacturer to basically say "Oh well, we made OUR cash already from the 3rd party vendor, so its between you and them now".. TOTAL BS MAN! Anyways.. @ FelineFleur I purchased from Allbeauty and included in my mail to Molinard a printscreen of my purchase and a link to this conversation. I can understand they don't want to admit publically a lack of quality control. But they should take care of their buyers community. They are not only a seller but a maker and Habanita is their biggest cow.

Well, received my bottle yesterday, ordered it from UK website , I would say trusted, don't think they sell dodgy perfumes. Guess what batch? 43801E, oh nooooo. I was so disappointed, but I did decide to open it and try if it's really so bad. YES IT IS BAD. It's weak and kind of body mist quality, fading exactly after 2 hours ,true, true, everything is written here before me is true. Smells Like diluted perfume ,where you get 5 percent of perfume and 95 is water. Yes it's transparent, no colour. I have messaged Molinard, and they kinda: not our problem, as you purchased from uk website, ask them for resolution. Well, top customer service from Molinard. Just ignored my review about their product even I purchased it somewhere else, so what.

@BERENGARIA Habanita is NOT discontinued, this is Molinard's flagship product. So spray as much as you like and enjoy wearing this divine creation.

This fragrance is like a Good quality Niche perfume. It's a heady Floral fragrance, and it oozes 1920's Glamour. It has an intruiging ‘je ne sais quoi ‘ Rich and decadent. A lovely flacon too. Why did they have to discontinue it?
