Reminds me a lot of Jimmy Choo Man Intense
This is a toned down Sauvage Elixir/ Aventus Absolu dna 2000%
Montblanc did a great job with this one. It's obviously heavily inspired by Sauvage Elixir with an Aventus Absolu twist (which is to say, not unique whatsoever) but it's very well-executed. It's not nearly as loud as either of those fragrances but still lasts a very long time (I got well over 12 hours of longevity when I tried it) so if you find Sauvage Elixir to be too loud then I highly recommend this fragrance. Good for daily wear, just about any situation except high heat.
Safe, warm and calm. Kevin Costner probably smells like this.
I do detect some of that Sauvage DNA people are talking about. There is a similar anise/licorice/woodsy note in here like Sauvage Elixir. Fresh, woody, and warm. I like this much more than the original Explorer, which never really smelled like Aventus to me. Overall it's a pleasant but one dimensional "diet" Sauvage Elixir. On the other hand, this is far more versatile and easygoing.
very manly well balanced, very earthy autumn vibes and woodsy but also fresh spicy, a tiny amount of sweetness with anice leather vibe. Genuine smooth deep dry down for a fragrance that I payed only £40 for online, don't pay full price in the stores, find it online discounted for much much cheaper, just be sure to get a genuine bottle. The way it smells on skin is incredible and addicting, I think this is better than legend EDP and is probably montblancs best, legend EDP has a nice scent but is not as deep or long lasting as this one. Ok I changed my mind, this is better than my Supremacy CE, Supremacy CE just has an addicting smooth creamy pineapple whereas this is just a better more deeper fragrance and smells great on skin. 9.5/10
way better than the og explorer
The opening is kinda old school smelling to me. Something like Elizabeth Taylor Passion pour Homme. Everything comes back around, I suppose. I can't wait for some fussy niche brand to put out something that smells exactly like curve so they can call it groundbreaking and brave.
Sophisticated, somewhat mature, mass-appealing compliment getter. Works well in the evening or even formal events.
Mature in a good way, not in a retirement home kind of way. Comes with an undeniable vibe of shittogetherness. Perfect for the office. Works for dates as well if you’re going for a darker James Bond vibe as this is not a playful scent by any stretch of the imagination. Solid release, Montblanc.
To me it smells like CREED MIXED with BR540. The ambery sweetness along with the pineapple, bergamot and leather makes it very likeable. I have observed the world is moving towards sweeter fragrances not particularly vanilla sweet, more of spicy and ambery sweetness. This is a very likeable fragrance and performs well
Love it. Easier to wear than either of the DNA it has the most in common with (Sauvage Elixir, Absolu Aventus). To me you could wear this anywhere, anytime (of course not super high heat). And as an added bonus, you’ll smell like a freaking boss. (Skane1865’s review nails it by the way.)
I find this quite pleasant. Easier to wear than the OG Sauvage Elixir (pre-reformulation). Retains some of that DNA, though. This to me is a midpoint between the Sauvage Elixir DNA and Xerjoff's Golden Green. For me, Golden Green replaces Sauvage Elixir entirely...like a niche version of it witha touch of added coffee. Explorer Extreme fits somewhere in the middle, and I find that it fills a gap for me in wearability/versatility. This is much easier to pull off casually and in more situations than either of the others. Performance is average to slightly above average for me. And the price on discounters makes it a great pickup, even if you already own one of the others. I don't see them as redundant. And on a side note, women seem to really like this one. Much more than I have seen ever with the Dior. Just putting it out there.
Bought this for my husband for our second wedding. He loves the OG Explorer and made the mistake of spraying it like an OG Explorer… My goodness is it a bombshell upon first sprays. It’s a sexy beastly performing fragrance for such an affordable price!! He wore 2 sprays yesterday afternoon and I could still smell it on him this morning! Definitely too intense for work but fantastic for night time activities. We would still buy an OG as it’s much fresher for work. It’s super creamy and smooth wood, I love it on his skin so much
This feels like the little brother to Sauvage Elixir and Night Drive—and I don’t mean that in a negative way at all. It shares the same overall DNA, but without the overpowering intensity of Sauvage Elixir or the spicy fresh edge that makes Night Drive stand out. Instead, it leans a bit fruitier in the opening before settling into a warm amber base with a subtle touch of leather. As much as I love the scent of Sauvage Elixir, it always seems to give me a headache. I’m still not sure why, especially since no other fragrance does that to me. Thankfully, this scratches that same itch without the downside. Even better, it’s priced incredibly well for what you get. Performance is another pleasant surprise. Longevity is excellent, and the projection is right where I like it—noticeable without being overwhelming. At this point, I’m struggling to find any real flaws. Overall Rating: 8.8/10
It’s absurd to compare it to Sauvage Elixir... It doesn't even come close, and the scent is completely different. It’s a good fragrance, but with poor projection and longevity. I’m not sure if it’s worth it—unless you find it at a great discount.
A solid non pretentious DNA. What I love about the Explorer line is that it doesn't force itself to be something it's not, and it does it so well. It's like a Scorsese movie, it might not be always flashy or action packed or even exciting when you're watching it, but there is always a feeling of satisfaction after you finish watching it. Because It's simply "very well done". Explorer Extreme slightly shifts the original Explorer DNA and makes it denser and darker, while maintaining that linear and impeccably blended rock steady composition that made the original Explorer so well received. This style of blending is hard not to be given credit to and respected. And I'm not surprised if it won some cult following along the way. It won't shock me at all, because I can see why. Explorer Extreme starts with a blast of bergamot, laced from the very first spray with earthy wet edible patchouli, a solid vetiver accord and subtle smooth leather accord that shifts the composition to 3D mode, while a non cloying and non fatiguing amber base politely polishes the exterior shell. It smells fresh, dense, leathery earthy, ambery, a bit salty and deliciously edible in certain phases, all done in an equally proportional blending fashion. But what I love most about it is that there is always a sense of "wetness" and freshness along the way, despite its density. Very solid performance, just like the original, maybe with a bit less projection but still very good. I am a fan of this line and shall remain so.
Hear me out - - Burberry London
This has such a beautiful opening with tart fruity notes and smokiness notes that blend beautifully but unfortunately as it dries down it goes into smelling like Sauvage Elixir. After the 5minute mark I start to dislike this fragrance. However, the redeeming qualities are that if you like this scent, it lasts 8-12 hours with decent projection. Not a beast mode fragrance but it is very noticeable!! Possibly cloying if you over apply Overall rating - 6.5 out of 10 ! Not horrible but I will never buy this one
Maybe just me but it opened very airy w Ambx and and a little smoky/birch, and settled down leathery. Opening was like aventus and sauvage edp and it ended like sauvage elixir
This is in same category as Sauvage elixir, but it’s not a direct match. This has a cleaner smell. Elixir has a mysterious tang to it that is absent in explorer extreme. The creamy barbershop elements are also missing. On its own, this is a clean peppery fragrance. I think it’s great, but not what I’m looking for. The strength is incredible and it’s inoffensive.
I love this DNA!
10/10 for me. It loosely reminds me of the original John Varvatos in style and the way it makes me feel. It's definitely masculine and it manages to smell modern without being super sweet. I've never smelled Sauvage Elixir or Aventus Absolu, but I have Afnan SCE and Coach EDP and love this one as much as those. Although you can wear this one any time, it would be perfect to wear the original Explorer during the day, and spray this one on top before heading out for the evening.
It's like layering axe body spray and febreze
I really like this fragrance. Good blend of Sauvage Elixir and Aventus Absolu.
same guy who made blue talisman made this btw, stick this is a niche bottle & snobs would glaze it & pay $200+ without question
A more versatile, much more affordable Creed Aventus Absolu. Crazy longevity, with a nice scent bubble for the first few hours. High quality for the price. Gets you compliments, guaranteed. The scent starts off with bright citrus, after about an hour takes a dark turn and feels grounded with the leather and patchouli, also with the amber accompanying it to provide some warmth and resinous quality. TBH I don’t really get the patchouli, at least it’s not chocolatey or earthy. Dry down feels super masculine, the leather feels refined, neither animalic nor new car seat-like. It used to be my signature office scent, so I also noticed that I went noseblind after a couple of weeks. Most probably because of heavy Ambroxan in the base. Yes, fragrance snobs will piss on this for not being authentic, but in a world where 90% of guys do not wear fragrances and the rest either wear Sauvage or cheap knockoffs of it, you will get noticed.
It smells the same as Afnan Supremacy Collectors Edition in the opening.
I bought Explorer and thought it was awesome so a week later I went to pick this up. Bought it in store, but didn't smell it before purchasing so essentially a blind buy. If you really like Explorer and wanted a stronger, better longevity/projection, version this isn't it. I was really hoping it'd just be an amplified version of the original Explorer, but that's my bad. To my nose the Sauvage-esque elements just overwhelm anything else. I don't really like it, but it's not offensive or anything, just personal taste. Just like with the OG Explorer, for the price (even at retail) it's a great deal for a great fragrance. If you have Sauvage, I don't think you need this. I don't see/get the Aventus/Absolu Aventus comparisons. I couldn't see myself wearing this in high summer heat, but any other time of year or a cooler summer day this works. Day and night. I'll definitely get use out of it. Longevity is good though. I'd still get the OG Explorer if I were only picking one of the two, but they are different enough that owning both isn't redundant.
my first thought was: damn is this sauvage? and i just didn’t read correctly? it smells a little more fruity though. fresh and clean like a summer breeze on the shore. really long lasting as well. if you want to go the safe route with a cologne that doesn’t miss and is fresh as it can be, this will be it!
