Soapy and great! If you want to smell like you just came out of the shower, and are fresh and clean, thus us the scent. I love it but wish it lasted longer.

This not having a "soapy" accord listed in the stack is as bad as Creed EROLFA not having an "Oceanic" or "Marine" accord listed. Mugler Cologne is a classic masterpiece, and the obvious inspiration for Creed Original Vetiver, which is essentially Mugler Cologne with the best materials.

#133 of My Fragrance Journey - Mugler Cologne: The fragrance that smells like skin, not perfume Some fragrances want to take you somewhere else - a beach, a spice market, some dim-lit bar you've never actually been to. Mugler Cologne doesn't bother with any of that. It just puts you back in the room you're already standing in. First spray and it's almost too clean. Bergamot flashes bright for a second, then drops into a soft, quiet neroli - not the glossy, sun-drenched kind you get from something like Neroli Portofino. Gentler than that. It smells soapy, honestly, in the best way. Like a white T-shirt off warm skin straight out of the shower. Cotton drying on a line. It stops being about the perfume pretty fast and starts being about you. Skin, just better. Give it half an hour, and whatever theatre it had to begin with is gone. The neroli folds into orange blossom - soft, close to the skin, doesn't care what gender you are. Clean without trying to prove it. And then the S molecule shows up, tangled into a damp green musk, and it just - melts into your own heat. Stops feeling like something you put on. Starts feeling like a fact about you. That restraint is the whole point, I think. No twists, no dark turn waiting in the base, no gourmand surprise. Just musk, a little green, warm skin. Confidence that doesn't need an audience. Here's the catch, though - this is not a fragrance for people who want to be smelled from across the room. It doesn't project, it whispers. Close to the skin, gone faster than you'd like if you're used to the modern stuff that fills a hallway. It retreats fast. You have to lean in for it, almost. Which is either intimate or frustrating, depending on what mood you're in that day. It's old and new at once - that classic European cologne shape, citrus up top, easy and bright, but with a musk overdose that feels current. Not glamorous. Not a "moment." Just the very specific pleasure of feeling clean and comfortable in your own skin, nothing extra attached to it. In a year where everything's trying to make a statement, this one just… doesn't. A white tee. Light through a window. Clean skin. Sometimes that's the whole thing. Vibe: fresh out the shower, not trying Performance: close and quiet, gone before you want it to be Fit: wear it when you want to smell like yourself, just cleaner Does it read as confidence to you, or does the lack of projection bother you more than you'd expect? Fresh, clean, krisp fragrance which I admire on other people. Unfortunately this fragrance did not suit me and despite being gentle, gave me a headache.

(Review of a 2001 bottle) Mugler Cologne is a very simple, very pretty, and very good yet very typical modern-take on the cologne. Full stop. I could leave my thoughts there, and simply point you to the pyramid, and anyone well experienced and educated on the citrusy floral cologne varietal would be able to guess what it smells like with stupendous accuracy… aside from one aspect, maybe. Bergamot, neroli, and petitgrain start the perfume. The metallic and blindingly bright knife-edge orange glow of the neroli is lovely, and supported very well by the young-green-woody and citrusy petitgrain. It is worth noting that the shelf life of these materials is not great; they have lost a fair amount of vocal volume and tenacity in my 25 year old bottle, so vintage hunters need to keep this in mind and make sure to find a bottle with sound provenance. What follows after the top is what follows in all of the million-and-one colognes of this type: florals and herbs. The neroli gives way to a creamy, softly, and sweetly juicy orange blossom. Touches of herbs like basil and thyme are barely able to be pulled. But here comes a neat little twist that makes Cologne stand out, and that’s its “S” accord, which should simply be presumed to mean soap, but that wouldn’t market as well as a “mystery material”, would it…. This is not your modern, scratchy, sharp, synthetic and synthetic-smelling, white soap musk, it smells like a real and luxurious musky floral soap made with the good ol’ stuff. The soapiness in Cologne is about the only atypical part of it in that it doesn’t follow the soapy lavender prescription as does nearly all others preceding it, nor did it go the route of crap soap musks like its contemporaries. It is supple, round, plush, just the right touch of gray animalic musky, and simply smells great. It is cleanliness with a lot of class. Cologne holds here with the musks for the rest of its life. Lovely stuff, but far from novel. The only reason I would recommend this to someone is because they love neroli, orange blossom, and the smell of real musks - which I do, and thusly why I own it. It’s a winning formula, so much so that Frederic Malle would 13-14 years later give Dominique Ropion a ton of money to create a far more luxurious version of this exact formula with Cologne Indelebile, of which I own several vintage bottles of that as well because… well… I just love the neroli/orange blossom and musk combo. Mugler Cologne scratches the itch nicely when I don’t want to reach for the ultra-lux, pricey, and/or niche stuff, and therefore form and functionality are both well covered. Solid work that I thoroughly enjoy wearing.

This thing smells amazing and sophisticated. A fresh earthy garden type scent. But it performs horrible. Scent is 10/10 but overall 7/10 due to performance.

Анонім★★★★★

Beautiful soapy modern scent. Young and fresh. But doesn’t last long.

Анонім★★★★★

Mediocre, just a generic mens fragrance. Even though its cheap it isn’t worth the money.

Анонім★★★★★

Musky floral citrus. Light, smells like luxury baby wipes. Unisex. Only thing is there is a note in here that smells a bit funky, like a rotten cucumber or some other kind of vegetable. It's not super obvious, could be my batch, but thought I should make note of it. Overall I'd give this a 5.5/10.

What can I say about this little rascal? For the review, I am using a newer bottle of Mugler Cologne (formerly 'Come Together') from 2026, sold directly from the UK Mugler website together with the classic tall bottle from 2017. Is it still a good scent? Is it the same as the older batches, pre 2018, pre L'Oreal acquisition? As I own both, I feel I can offer my two cents: I'd say it's 90% as good, and almost the same. The DNA between the two is identical, as you'd expect from a reformulation, with some slight differences in their compositions: Mugler Cologne (2018-present) is grass on citrus. The emphasis is placed on the greenery of the fragrance DNA, with the bergamot and neroli being complementary against the petitgrain and musk to create a safe, fresh and well rounded scent. The citrus is still there, it's just playing second fiddle, losing its spark entirely at times to the warmer weather. Mugler Cologne (pre-2018) on the other hand is citrus on grass. It emphasises that sharp, zingy freshness first and foremost, with bergamot and neroli shining through before the petitgrain and musk arrives to create a more layered and energetic persona. It's a subtle difference, but I believe the devil is in the details here. Many people, myself included, consider the classic formulation to be better by a pinch, as I believe the fragrance envisioned by Alberto Morillas relies heavily on those prominent citrus accords to push the envelope and bring his concept to life; using that sharpness and zest to really saturate the greenery and give it some spunk. It's where the magic lies. It's worth noting that the newer versions of Mugler Cologne, known formerly as "Come Together", became part of a wider "Mugler Cologne Range" designed for layering over one another, which meant the sharper edges of the original formulation had to be smoothed over to accommodate. For this reason, the original formulation is bolder and brighter by design, and why I believe people have observed it to project further and last longer. TL;DR - Rest assured this current iteration of Mugler Cologne will be as you remember, as the DNA at its core remains unchanged and is still that wonderfully bright and retro-funky green scent of springtime and grass that you can wear anytime to feel funky-fresh. The newer batches post L'Oreal have a little less sparkle and a little less nuance than the batches of old, likely in favour of accessibility and diversification, but if that means it'll remain on the shelves this time, then that can't be a bad thing. I still love it, and I'd still highly recommend it!

In 2016 I took a beautiful vacation to the Paradisus Resort in Cancun Mexico. The body and hair products offered in the room were Mugler Cologne and the whole resort smelled of it. I took the minis home with me and sniffed them sparingly to bring back the olfactory memory of my trip. Eventually I gave in and bought a full bottle. I treasure it. Bright, green, citrus musky, laundry soap clean, and yet somehow a touch exotic. This fragrance, although it is essentially a simple soapy orange blossom scent, maintains an element of opulence. It smells like money. It most definitely smells like the colour of the juice. This is a unisex fragrance but I will say that any man of any age wearing this would effortlessly gain admiration and respect. It smells like fresh, clean wealth and sunshine. If you’re having trouble finding a bottle of this beautiful juice, I also have a bottle of Mugler’s Come Together and it is identical.

I really enjoy the classic eau de Cologne profile and have many variations of it in my collection. This is very nice fresh and clean take on the cologne archetype with limited bitter/sour notes that are common in many expressions. Mugler Cologne is nice and I do enjoy wearing this in the hottest months of the dry season in Cameroun. With that said I personally prefer many eau de Cologne variations over this. For the fresh clean musk profile of the archetype I prefer La Cologne du Parfumeur from Guerlain.

@akib87 It appears my-origines only ships within the EU. Is that correct?

So happy this is back on the market. I just got a bottle from the mugler website in the UK. Soapy, zingy, fresh, clean, perfectly unisex. Big fan of this and so happy to have it in my collection. Overall: 8.5/10.

In wrapping up, let me assert that Mugler Cologne almost perfectly epitomizes the essence of a classic cologne, executed flawlessly and in accordance with all the principles of the craft. Its scent is uncomplicated yet carries a substantial dose of purity and freshness. With its soapy undertones, it appeals to both women and men, being inherently unisex. Moreover, it serves as an exceptional choice for sweltering, humid days. I personally own a bottle and find myself reaching for it often during the summer months — almost as frequently as... Well, if you're curious about my ultimate go-to scent for scorching days, I'll reveal that it'll be the subject of the next post. My rating: Recommended. (6/7)

The kings lives! I found it in Portugal, where it seems to be readily available. And the bottle is new, like the Come Together bottle, which I can accept because it is pretty and that juice color is just insane. The smell is virtually as Alberto made it, so I am pleased. Now just get this to northern Europe and we are back in business because I could bathe in this. Now it is a weak frag and always has been, but my Portugal bottle was sprayed on my black long sleeve and it seems to have lasted 48 hours and going strong with the projection.

Among my 300+ bottles collection, this comes on the top 5. I wish I could shower with it. It was the best blind buy I ever did in my life a few years ago. Hopefully, Mugler will release it with a parfum version. I won't exaggerate if I say this is like the heaven scent..... I simply adore it 😍 ❤️ 💖 💕.

I have a 2017 bottle of Mugler Cologne and my fave thing is to spray a shirt with it. When it dries down to a white musk warm body scent it lasts for days and smells great. They should not have discontinued this.

Im crazy about the smell of Mugler Cologne. Its probably one of my favorite fragrances, its possibly the most "perfectly simple" warm weather fragrance around. I have a big bottle from the early 2000's and it still smells like new, though i have heard its prone to spoiling for some. This is soapy orange citrus and neroli with a little zing of spice and an aquatic vibe as it dries down. As Greenlight said below, there is certainly vetiver in here, and i think it even contributes to the aquatic thing i get somehow. Just smells amazingly clean, definetely 'just got my hair cut and a hot towel shave, now im putting my suit on' vibes. Or if you are out by the beach or somewhere hot, youre dressed extremely well. In a sense it has an old school vibe, yet it also smells very modern. It is in the end, an extremely classic italian style acqua colonia, just with some twists and a modern base. Unfortunately though....this is one of the worst performing fragrances ive ever used. This truly needs to be taken into account, because its getting expensive if you can find it, and you would need to respray this at LEAST 3 times to finish out a day. It projects good briefly upon spraying, but after an hour its close to the skin. Heat can help bring it back to life, wether body heat or solar heat w.e. I want to wear this all the time, but i have to control myself considering the aforementioned prices these days. If money is no issue to you, you should literally blind buy it right now its so good.

Mugler Cologne (both the original and Come Together) wins hands down as my all-time favorite fragrance. I literally feel joy when I spray it on my skin and clothes, and I have no trouble believing there’s something deeply sensual about it—even though it’s so delicate it could never offend anyone. The opening notes are citrusy and grassy, but soon the soapy musk emerges, along with an evident woody vetiver base—although vetiver is not listed among the notes, it’s absolutely and unmistakably present. The story of this fragrance is described in many other reviews, and it’s truly baffling and incomprehensible that L’Oréal makes it so hard to find, even though it’s still in their catalog. And yes, let’s be honest: this is clearly where Original Vetiver was born. Let’s not kid ourselves—the similarities are obvious, even though Original Vetiver is a much more elegant, refined, and polished scent. Come Together is slightly reformulated, with more simplicity and linearity compared to the 2001 original, leaning more towards the grassy note. It’s less spicy—if that makes sense as a description. But this is a difference only noticeable to someone who, like me, has used liters of this fragrance.

Citruses that are very good. There is something here that definitely puts this above Dior Sport (cologne) — Dior Sport (cologne) is basically just lemon, whereas here it’s like a squeezed lemon on the skin, slightly aged and warm, yet still remaining tart. Very pleasant and surely works great in summer, probably much better than the regular Miyake. However, there is no neroli here.

Анонім★★★★★

It doesn't get any more 'crisp white shirt' than this. This is a crisp white shirt, fresh from the steam-iron indeed, worn in the most intense sunlight. Like you need sunglasses to smell this one. It's a younger, fresher, brighter, more summery cousin of Nishane Colognisé. I love it.

This fragrance is a well-crafted blend of freshness and warmth. It opens with bright, clean top notes that immediately capture attention. The heart is smooth and balanced, featuring subtle floral and woody undertones. The base is rich and long-lasting, adding depth without overpowering. Versatile and elegant, it’s suitable for both casual wear and special occasions.

Nose Note #364 It is a cologne after all, thus the performance is terrible. The scent is "funny" and is definately reminicent of 4711 Original Eau de Cologne. Neroli-heavy with a touch of citrus + soapiness. Very green scent, very light. To me it's definately more masculine. It's very special, but I'm not in love with it. Sold it without regret

I was so surprised by my reaction to this one: I love musk, neroli, and soapy-clean vibes so I was expecting to fall in love. Unfortunately, this smells like a damp early 2000s cell phone salesman to me. Like a slightly cummy dude at the mall in an ill fitting suit trying to get me to buy something. Or a skeezy older guy at a party for teens. I can't even gauge if its an objectively good fragrance, it just smells exactly like that type of guy and I can't separate them. Could be the fact that I was in middle school at the time of release, so people +/- a decade probably have better associations with it but I can't do it.
