Cleopatra

Regal and sexy - yep, I could see a beautiful, machiavellian queen wearing this. There is a power to this fragrance... it almost gives... dominatrix vibes?! I really don't like that this delicate, dainty, vintage-looking light bottle made me think this going going to be a powdery, tame, soft fragrance. It dampened the experience and made me feel confused, lol. This fragrance belongs in a purple and black bottle to represent its dark, royal, and seductive character 💜.

An immediate scrubber. Just so cloying, synthetic, and overpowering.

Although this is my "fancy" scent for formal occasions (as it does have more of a "classic" women's perfume profile than what I normally gravitate toward), I think it would do fine in a work setting. Cleopatra isn't anything groundbreaking, necessarily, but it is what really got me interested in fragrance, so it has a special place in my heart.

Gucci Bloom Nettare is very similar to this!

I must have gotten a bad bottle. On paper, this should be a total love for me and a safe blind buy. But I got a mini at Marshall's and I get only the barest whisper of what Cleopatra is supposed to be and then it's gone. Nothing, really. Maybe I'll get a discovery set from the website and try again, bc this smelled like next to nothing.

A few years after this perfume came out (and I wasn't into perfumes back then) I somehow acquired a free sample. Recently I found the sample card tucked away in one of my jewelry drawers and thought, what the heck, I would get a small amount and try it again after so many years. I must have liked it enough to use up the sample and hang onto the card, but I didn't really remember how it smelled. Now that I know more about perfumes and have tried a bunch of stuff, I can see how I probably didn't like it enough to go for a full bottle back in 2011 or so. It's not entirely unpleasant, it just smells...unfinished. Maybe I'm anosmic to something in it, but I'm just not picking up on the majority of the notes. I've tried it a few different times since getting the new sample and it's always the same. All I really smell is a light musky peach. Someone else mentioned that there's a hint of something metallic in the drydown, which I noticed on my skin too. Odd. 🫤 I don't like that very much. Overall though, I would say it's not the worst I've tried, but it's not anything special, either. No wonder I didn't really remember it! "Powerful, seductive, exotic" are not words I would use to describe this perfume. Not in the least. It might be saved by layering, but I'm afraid that this scent would just kind of disappear into whatever I tried layering it with.

Jasmine musk. I get a bit of grapefruit for support. It's a little spicy. Vanilla is nice. Tocca scents all have a delicate sheerness to them that makes them easy to wear. This one (like most Tocca for me) is just not an exciting wear. Not bad, but not exciting. Turns a little metallic in the drydown on my skin. Does not smell like Modern Muse. (That one is so sophisticated!) Cleopatra doesn't perform the same way as MM and is sunny and honeyed. I could see the comparison to Avon Rare Diamonds. Narciso and SJP compare only because they're jasmine musk but those are much better than this one. Pass. Try if: you want a Jasmine Musk scent that is not much of either one, and easy.

Really great mix of fruity and floral notes without being overly sweet. Smells like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on me?

Such a pretty scent! Its very very patchouli heavy for me, I was expecting more of a sweet profile but this is pleasant. It smells like a woman who'd work at a vintage store. I may layer it with a sweeter body spray to hopefully fill in for the sweet note I expected

I didn't know what to expect since it was a sample from Mecca. The opening is nice, with a fruity floral greeny kind of vibe. But literally 5 minutes later I can only smell patchouli, like an old grandma perfume from the 60's. Not a fan, I would'n buy it and I won't be using the sample. Maybe that's why I don't like Narciso Rodriguez perfumes either...I found them to be so old fashioned, like a mom's or grandma's perfume, all of them, except for the orange one that I have no idea how it's called but I wouldn't use it either.

really nice but way to close to SJP lovely. Tocca have so many unique scents, and this one is just too similar.

This is a spicy, musky, refined fragrance sweetened by a succulent, almost honeyed peach. It's very seductive and moody, with a bit of a sharp, alluring bite. The patchouli here is exceptionally well done; never overwhelming, but present enough to ground the scent with a nice earthy, warm, and slightly herbal element. While I don’t think this fragrance fits my vibe at all, I can genuinely appreciate the artistry here. Cleopatra is enticing, nocturnal; The scent of a woman who is assured, confident and effortlessly classy.

sample smelt sooo good and lastd soooo long, actual barely lasted and the smell changed to more fruity smell like watermelon almost, suppperrrr dissappointing considering i prefer musky smells and watermelon is soooo far from it

This perfume is a little bit "meh" for me. I am not really a fan of musk/powdery scents and wasn't that stunned by how it smelled on me. Wearing it throughout the day I never had a moment of smelling it and thinking, "This is so pleasant!" "This actually smells amazing!". It just didn't wow me like some other Tocca scents I have used. I will say that the dry down was more pleasant to me than the initial musky spray as it quickly turns more fruity on my skin. I wouldn't think that this fragrance is as seductive and powerful as it is described by Tocca; I personally think it is quite the opposite.

Quite a tangy opening but quickly dries to a soft musk and floral with clear green notes. I'm enjoying this combo. I usually avoid patchouli but it works here and isn't too much. Wish the longevity was better.

I tried a sample of this I’ve been holding onto for years and my immediate reaction was “fruitchouli!”….oh and then some citrus too…if you poured some coco mademoiselle into a bottle of fruity floral light shampoo you’d have the scent of Tocca Cleopatra. About 3 minutes later that fruit punch was gone and now it’s white florals and fresh green notes with the patchouli. It’s a springtime patchouli for sure.

Fruity, slightly fizzy lighter version of Narciso for Her EDT. Like a summer flanker with less longevity. Cleopatra if she scrubbed her face of black kohl eyeliner and red lipstick. She highlights her black hair, wears it in a high ponytail and shops at Target. Not bad, but over ambitious of Tocca to name this after Cleopatra.

@sasha.heywood Yes, totally similar to the discontinued Gucci, but much more to the pink EDT version than the brown EDP. I have all of them. Cleopatra has a bit more musk while the Gucci has more patch, but def close relatives!

For those who vote for the lady who said that smells like "Creed Aventus for her" and the other who said "Modern Muse"... Unless you bought a fake one you might compare them to Cleopatra. There is absolutely NOTHING of similarity to the real Aventus for Her and Modern Muse. Nothing! This Cleopatra is a bit similar to Florence from Roberto Cavalli but in a very fresh and light way. If you want something stronger and sweeter and with the dark notes of Cleopatra, try Florence. It is very boring and nothing seductive in it.

This scent is giving old lady floral but not in a bad way. The green notes make it more youthful smelling I think. Not overly complicated, which can be good or bad depending on what you prefer or what you wear it for. I decanted from a dabber bottle into a spray and have been enjoying it like that

There's something special about this one, probably the green notes and patchouli. This is my new daily perfume, I really love it. It is a feminine white floral with a nice musky base, and something green to it. I have been getting compliments on this one. My husband described it as very nice and a bit sexy, which suits me fine. This should be suitable year round and for most occasions, but not suitable for intensely cold weather I think. I will try layering this with amber perfume in winter. Unfortunately the longevity is poor, no more than 2-3 hours before it is basically gone. I am used to very good longevity from designer perfume labels like YSL, Chanel etc, and I think the poor longevity is unfortunate given Cleopatra is similar in price or a bit more expensive than competing designer perfumes. It does mean that Cleopatra doesn't make my clothes reek in the way e.g., Libre does, so I suppose that's good.

This is a strange one. Sniffing it directly from the bottle, it’s actually okay—maybe even promising. However, once it hits my skin, the chemistry just falls apart. It immediately smells cheap and synthetic, losing all the nuance I thought I smelled in the atomizer. The biggest letdown is the lack of evolution. It’s completely linear; it doesn't develop, transition, or open up at all. It just sits there as a flat, uninspiring scent until it fades. It’s a shame because the initial 'bottle sniff' gave me hope, but on me, it’s a total dud. Definitely try before you buy to see how it reacts with your skin

Meh, it's more reminscent of Narciso For Her EDP over the EDT, which i can't bring myself to choose when the EDT exists. Unnecessarily Screechy

It’s wild that this smells almost identical to the discontinued Gucci by Gucci perfume and yet no one has mentioned this? I tested Cleopatra tonight and felt like I opened a time capsule from back when Gucci was my signature fragrance. Any fans of Gucci Perfume picked up on the similarity in the middle and base notes? I actually wondered if it was by the same Ilias Ermenidis.

I just accidentally poured half the sample bottle down my arm so I can’t give it a fair review yet, all I can say right now is YIKES that is strong 😂 from an arms length away it’s quite spicy, I was thinking it was OL - there’s definitely patchouli in there. As yall know patchouli is quite strong and potent so dousing myself with half a bottle is 🫢 It reminds me of something my ex MIL would wear as a patchouli lover. Up close though it’s not bad. It’s a powdery floral green interesting patchouli. A lot happening in there, I need to shower & give this another try in a much smaller dose lol

I like to wear this scent to bed - it’s soft and dreamy. Traditional femininity and a bit of sexiness is expressed through powdery florals and soft musk. Simplicity and a hint of freshness keep it from smelling too “vintage.” Quite a pretty, understated scent.

This is a scent that, if I hadn't smelled myself, I never would've thought to pick up. I'm normally a gourmand/vanilla fan and citrus/sharp floral notes give me a headache. I think it's the musk/jasmine and patchouli notes that balance to make me really love Cleopatra. Its complexity makes it alluring and addictive. It's been my signature date-night scent for a decade now as it has a strong, seductive throw. A little goes a long way & I've gotten compliments from all genders.

Very earthy but not the earthy i love. This gives me licorice vibes. Like a box of Good ‘n Plenty. Not loving it as much as i hoped.

I shoplifted this from Anthropologie for no real reason when I was seventeen. I didn’t even love it that much, but I wore it anyway. It made me feel sexy and far more worldly than I was at the time.
