Valentina Poudre

She's a beauty, but I had to pass her along to someone who would appreciate. As much as I loved this fragrance, I do understand why it was discontinued. It has quite a sharp, synthetic opening. The dry-powdery beauty comes in after once you get over that first initial shock. I wasn't reaching it for that exact reason.

They take these off the market so people like us can make a little money lol ;) Then, once it's way overpriced, they bring back some reformulation. I agree born in Roma is an abomination. Smells like dryer sheets. The original Donna is gorgeous and omg I need a bottle of that right now. I digress. Poudre. While I do love this smell, I have to admit l bought it for the bottle. Just gotta be careful and shake it before using so that you don't accidentally run out

the opening is a nasty roller rink with old chewed gum, quarter machine candies, and scuffed floor. the dry down is a beautiful understated classic powdery scent. you must. be PATIENT.

I'm getting hints of waxy lipstick, play-doh and banana foam candy. Interesting. Poudre definitely lives up to it's name as the powdery notes dominate the iris and tuberose (which somehow smell inauthentic). Sometimes less is more I want to like this one but it smells too artificial and cheap to my nose

This is beautiful I wanted to try it for a long time. I got a travel size and after I tried it I had to her a full bottle. It also lasts a long 8 plus hours time and has good projection. But even if it lasts so long I still really when I get home from work and at bed time. I have many peruse and I need to use them.

I managed to get my hands on a decant of this and was so excited only to be immediately disappointed. I guess musk mallow and I don’t like each other because on my skin this smells like crayon wax, sweaty shoes and bubble gum. I’m sad about this, as right now I’m in a powder, Iris, violet, clean perfume era. And the bottle is adorable!

It's a NO for me! This isn't my cup of tea - and although I'm not a fragrance connoisseur, I believe the tuberose is where things "go left," for me...on the skin. When I tested this on paper: In the opening, there's powder w/ some sweetness, tuberose with just a bit of "bubble gum" nuance, but the nuance is very low-key and almost compliments the fragrance; it's creamy, green, and wonderful!! No problems with that. Lovely! But on my skin: Things open somewhat similar, but the green is large and in charge!! Then the sweetness becomes more pronounced, and somewhere in the late opening and into the true dry down, this perfume becomes unrecognizable from the paper scent - and it remains that way. The sweetness amplifies, the powder tones down, and the tuberose just changes. NR's Poudree didn't do it for me either. Gritti's Aqua Incanta - I'm in love w/!

This is stunning! But you have to love powder and iris to love this. Sweetened talcum powder, soft vanilla. The iris here is bitter and non-vegetal, it adds a slight medicinal sharpness to otherwise very soft and fluffy fragrance. I adore this perfume, as always, falling for the discontinued rarity. Valentina Poudre is so beautiful... I don't understand how brands go from creating masterpieces like this to pumping out mass-pleasing mediocrity like Born in Roma and its endless flankers.

If anyone has any good dupes for Valentina Poudre, I will consider giving you a kidney. Not my kidney, mind you - but I'll get my hands on one for you if you give me a good recommendation! It was my signature scent before it got discontinued, and I loved the specific powder scent in it that was dry and powdery without being too old - it was almost baby-powder-esque with a warm musk to it. A lot of people have said Narciso Rodriguez' Poudree perfume is a dupe, but I find there to be a chemical smell to that perfume that borders on astringent, especially in comparison to the Valentina one.

I can understand the comparison with Hypnotic Poison EDT, but this is not a dupe. Valentina Poudre opens with a wallop of dolls-head vanilla, fine talcum powder, and a subtle sarsparilla note. As it dries down, the powder becomes more creamy playdoh texture- possibly created by tonka bean? But I don't get almond, and the root beer touch disappears in the drydown. Some soft musky florals are in the background that give me Donna Karan Cashmere vibes, but the star of the show is that powdery vanilla- like a vanilla scented barbie doll has been heavily dusted with talc. Good projection and longevity, but not interesting enough for me to seek out a full bottle.

Blast of sweet powder but somewhat aquatic as well. This to me is more Moncler than Dior Hypnotic Poison, which I am surprised people are making comparison to. The watery note throws me off, and I think it’s a bit sweeter, giving me caramel sensation.

Wow...not what I was expecting at all. This is so overwhelming to my senses. Yes, I wanted powdery, but I just could not believe the intensity of this. I couldn't wear it. It's got to be the overload of powder notes or the Iris...one or both notes needed to be dialed down a lot. I give the magnificent bottle a 10/10 though. I fell for the "bottle" once again. 😒 Sad but true.

Was looking forward to trying this ..just headache inducing for me. Had to wash it off asnd pass it on.

I second the review below mine. The only other perfume I ever smelled that was dryer than Poudre, is Samsara. Poudre does actually remind me of Samsara, but it's a fluffier and more modern version. Personally not getting the HP similarities mentioned below. I like HP but love Poudre. Whenever I put it on, other women seem like they can't get enough of it and I receive a ton of compliments from females. Very strong scent too with a lot of projection.

VERY. EXTREMELY. DRY.

To me it smells like powdery expensive make-up. Unlike Hypnotic Poison there is no detectable almond or iris or any florals whatsoever. Just plasticky but pleasant vanilla-like powder. Linear and straight forward. Brings to mind cream or nude coloured cashmere.

I have a 2017 bottle and I’m so happy to own this! This is an Iris and vanilla lovers dream! I swear there is Heliotrope in here or the combination of Tonka, vanilla and “powdery” notes are creating an almond-like fluffy Heliotrope feel. It’s a pressed powder so Poudre has a creamy texture to it. I like it way more than hypnotic poison (though I don’t have a vintage bottle) but HP poison is a doughy vanilla (which I love) rather than a powdery one. There is a I don’t perceive the tuberose at all. Mostly the Iris. Wow! I wish I have a larger bottle. I have a 50ml and I think I’m gonna buy a back up.

Soft, Cozy, clean, creamy powdery, intimate. This is so suave on the skin. Safe for any season and environment. You really have to love your powdery scents. Love the creamy iris and just a hint of sweet vanilla. Its so pretty and feminine but could deff. be unisex. It has a fluffy airy essence.

Lovely powdery fluffy musky a touch on the vintage side but ultimately a really good powdery scent. A little baby powder, not overly vintage but it does give glamour bodoir vibes. Light and not too sweet. I feel heliotrope and violets alongside the iris I feel like this is more complex than the notes lead you to believe but might just be my associations with this genre.

I had high hopes for this but sadly the powdery notes left me feeling nauseous

After trying this several times in different seasons from a travel sprayer I have, all I ever smell is a sweet playdough vanilla. I cannot distinguish the florals in this at all, nor am I getting the powder either. That's disappointing, because I was really looking forward to the ambrette, iris, and tuberose. I was so sure with that note profile and Aurelien Guichard as the perfumer that I was going to love this as much as I love so many of his other creations. However, this fell really short of my expectations. Oh well, guess you can't win them all. Glad I didn't waste money on a bottle and opted for a travel sprayer instead.

Smells like Dr Pepper to me...very strange.

One of my all time favourite "layering" perfumes. It is perfect to layer with flowery and/or woody notes and also to tone down louder perfumes. It is a simple and linear perfume (i like that) so don't expect complex performance and an acrobat of notes. Just straight forward Iris-powder. Very feminine and office friendly but don't overspray. If I am layering then 1-2 sprays are more than enough and if not then 3-4 max as it is long lasting. I spray on my clothes and probably that helps with longevity. Unfortunately it is discontinued (whyyyyyyy Valentino???!! ) so I bought two bottles to stock up. highly recommend it if you're into powdery/ires feminine perfumes.

This is such a peculiar scent to me. I was honestly very taken aback when I first sprayed this. It smells like sweet vanilla deodorant from an aerosol can or like sweet hairspray lol. Unlike a lot of reviews, this does not smell like old fashioned makeup to my nose, but you will smell clean if you wear this because as I said before, this has a scented deodorant vibe to me. Not a bad blind buy but it's not what I expected from a perfume. This will need to grow on me a bit. I can see this being a good perfume to wear to work or church since it's soft, inoffensive, and smells clean. I may layer this with some of my vanilla body mists to bring out the sweetness a bit more. Overall, I'm happy to have this in my collection. I just wish it was a little more powdery in the more traditional sense and didn't remind me so much of deodorant or hairspray.

the last few years i've been loving these kind of perfumes. it smells like a conglomeration of several other perfumes listed above. it's soft, powdery, with a hint of floral notes. i find it a bit sweet but not overly so. really cozy type of scent that is uncomplicated and even though it's reminiscent of several other scents, i think the floral notes add a bit of a unique element here.

Never thought I would love powdery scent, tried it back then when it was released few years ago in store, the scent lingers the whole day on me, sillage is strong, fell in love, and it’s out of stock :( I was devastated because it was discontinued, so glad that it got rereleased so I finally grab a bottle. Smells like baby power but more luxurious like expensive makeup. It’s not heavy, not sexy, not fresh, just a luxurious wonderful smell that smells so good. Since then I notice I love woody powdery vanilla scents

It smells like make up powder or play dough. No bitter Iris or anything deep. Just. Powder. It’s a like for me as it’s not intriguing at all.

I had this saved on my fragrantica to try if I find a bottle one day. And I have come across one at the weekend so blind bought it. May I say, I do love the bottle itself. In terms of the scent, I was hoping I was going to like it as I do love powdery scents. This is lovely when you first spray it, just like a make up powder sort of smell, clean and warm. The longevity is good. I’m just not sure about the dry down, I think it’s too vanilla for me. However when sprayed on clothes, it reminds me of Agent Provocateur Maitresse which I do like. I will give it a chance and wear it again, perhaps a few times, and then will decide if I need to sell it on.

Beautiful soft, powdery vanilla scent. It's simply gorgeous. The scent profile is similar to Hypnotic Poison which I love too. They're in the same family but different enough that I own both. This fragrance is comforting yet elegant. I hate that's its been discontinued. Longevity: 8/10 I was surprised by how long this sticks around. Projection: 6.5/10 Overall Experience: 9.5/10
