Dark

Amazing desert chocolate note, smells actually edible, but NOT gourmand. Laid on something ashy? None of this is listed in the ingredients, but to me the base smells like opening a very old dusty CD player found at the bottom of someones closet. Gets more prominent by the hour, and the dark chocolate note slighty subsides.

A bitter chocolate and vanilla invention similar in kind to Maison Tahite’s ‘Cacao2’ but with considerably less heft and longevity. I sprayed the Akro fragrance on my left wrist and Tahite’s on the right within moments of one another and ten minutes later the former had all but disappeared into a dusty shadow of the opening, while the latter was still throbbing with rich chocolatey goodness. Is it wrong to expect a bit more of Dark at this price point. I think not. I’ll pass on this one.

This smells EXACTLY like carmex tinged with chocolate. I was so puzzled and was trying to put my finger on this familiar medicinal scent and had a total lightbulb moment when I pictured that famous yellow and red tube. edit: I'm not the only one apparently haha. Airborne Armadillo and others hit it right on the head.

Akro Dark is honestly unlike anything I’ve ever smelled—and I’m obsessed. Two reviewers said it smells like Bo Jackman/Batman, and weirdly… they’re right. It’s that dry, earthy patchouli mixed with dusty cocoa powder that feels both mysterious and edible in the most unhinged way. Yes, the opening is full barn‑stall patchouli (which I oddly enjoy), but once it settles, it becomes this addictive, shadow‑gourmand vibe. And when I layer it with a spicy patchouli scent, it magically turns sweet on my skin. No idea how, but I’m not questioning it. Coming from someone who also loves florals and sweet gourmands like YBM/Bianco Latte this one is just…deliciously weird. A unique little fragrance, and I’m very happy to have it.

Akro #2 – Willy Wonka’s signature scent Every time i tackle a new discovery set, i always seek a “cerebral” method for the order in which i go through the samples. Depending on the house or the samples that i have, i’ll aproach them with intent and think ahead about which ones “go on the chopping block” before the others. With Akro i have no logical aproach and this time i’ll simply go by the order in which the samples sit neatly in the box. Truthfully, i know little about the scents hence the lack of a “roadmap” but, we don’t always need that anyways. The first one was Awake and fate has it that its the one i heard the most about before and coincidentally, the pick was fitting because i called it the caffeine kick to start things off. Second in line was Dark and me being drawn to dark fragrances in general, it sparked my curiosity. As the case with Awake, with Dark im looking at a gourmand perfume aswell. Off the bat, the execution of Dark reminds me very much of how Awake was built only the espresso accord is replaced with a beautiful milk chocolate. The similarities do not end there because just as Awake had a dusty facet coming from the Cardamom, Dark has a similar dusty-powdery baseline reminiscent of cocoa-powder. Its a facet that gives authenticity to the chocolate accord. Hazelnut is included in the notes but interestingly, i get more nuttyness in Awake then in Dark. I wasn’t expecting this scent direction at all, instead i was looking forward to an edgy, woody, perhaps dark vetiver or patchouli perfume. From this point of view, Dark failed to meet my expectations but the scent itself is beautifully executed both from a technical and olfactory standpoint. I’ve mentioned many times before that im not fond of gourmand perfumes and im not a coffee drinker myself. On the other hand, i love chocolate, especially the creamy-milky type. Still, going very much against my preferences in terms of food, i prefer Awake’s coffee scent. Both are sibling perfumes, built in a similar way and leaning generously into gourmand territory but for some reason i feel like a coffee based scent qualifies more easily as a perfume then a straight up chocolate one. I do not wear perfume for others but still, in my mind, Awake could indeed make someone think you spilled a cup of coffee on yourself but it could also spark a pleasant interest in regards to the fragrance you are wearing. With Dark on the other hand, everyone would wonder who brought a cup of hot-chocolate to the table. Akro’s Dark is a fragrance i’d picture to be Willy Wonka’s signature scent. Or, just as some hotels have a particular scent that they use to perfume the lobby, Dark would be the ambiance scent of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Its smooth, charming, pleasant, yummy, salivating. A great scent but to me it manages to cross the point of no return, too deeply into gourmand country.

Just Dark Chocolate bar . I wish Vanilla Cinnamon and hazelnut were noticeable. Cinnamon and Hazelnut could have brought dept and " game". YUmmy photorealistic choco perfume. but.... Very very difficult to wear ! Monotematic and too edible. Still better quality then any other horrible arab dupe etc , it has an airy dryness to it. Interesting for layering, i'm thinking more for a man with a smokey bitter perfume. For women anything sweet would make it too much. i would buy this only if i could never eat chocolate again and i missed it ?

DON'T buy this if you don't enjoy bitter scents! Holy hell this fragrance is bitter and, dare I say, dark... (pause for laughter) An overdose of the darkest chocolate known to mankind takes the stage immediately, with roasted hazelnuts and a sprinkling of cinnamon following behind. Whilst the other notes don't detract from the chocolate, they certainly mellow it and smooth the rough edges. It all harmonises rather well - this is a gourmand for those who don't want to smell like Wonka's factory!

this smells like.. akro's smoke? but more wearable which i like. i guess that makes it okay. a more unique less wearable version of mm's btf

Pure cocoa powder, bitter baking chocolate so dry it takes on a leathery facet. A gothic gourmand for adults only, as there’s very little sweetness! I do get vanilla a few hours in. I would love this, but there’s a dirty, earthy note I dislike. Dark is a perfume I like to sniff over and over again, but not necessarily wear.

Box of belgian pralines. Very nice and subtle combination of chocolate, vanilla and hazelnuts. Not overly sweet.

Для холодной кожи будет свербить, резиной и нефткродуктами. Но для тёплой кожи очень красивый аромат , тёмного шоколада мускатного ореха и в конце ванили. Стойкий шлейф на весь день, может задушить если сделать на кожу больше 3 распылений. На ткани будет держаться около недели не выстирывается . Тестирование рекомендую только на коже своей ,иначе не поймёте что к чему. Переводится как тёмный.

First hour it's at it's best, really rich cocoa with a slight fizz, probably due to the cinnamon. The cinnamon really keeps this alive imho, otherwise this would be flat from the start. It's a play going back and forth between a deep dark, dry cocoa and something woody, slightly damp, slightly sweet. The first hour the scent is really alive on the skin, a fantastic experience. Sadly, two hours in and it's a skin scent. This will however, last on clothes, I bet. I will get myself a small bottle. From the whole sample kit this is the only one worth a bottle for me. I totally get the references to patchouli.

Ganache and ... ganache. Rich, warm smell of some unfinished dessert, dessert in process of making it. Probably smells like a woman who spent the whole day making chocolate desserts, but luxurious one, like Zacher torte, not like Oreo, something sexy and edible. The only perfume in my life that makes people come onto me and tell me how nice I smell.

I did not like this one at first. There is something a little medicinal about it that I found challenging, but it grew on me! It has a very dry and chalky texture. Almost reminds me of what a dark chocolate scented dusting powder would smell like. It’s quite rich and decadent. Feels slightly vampiric. This is also one of the only fragrances I have worn to bed and been able to smell the next morning.

Yet more evidence that God and the Devil are probably the same guy: The scientific name of the tree that produces chocolate is Theobroma cacao, ...with Theobroma meaning 'food of God', or 'food of the Gods', in Greek. Therefore its somewhat ironic (or revealing) that a popular chocolate dessert goes by the name, Devil's Food. And, ,...another slice of diabolically divine evidence involving chocolate is that Akro's Dark is a truly rapturous dark chocolate perfume that uncannily combines the best attributes of both holy virtue and wicked temptation. So maybe, offer a prayer of gratitude as you indulge in such sinfully worldly pleasure?

This is giving patchouli girl shopping in the bulk food aisle, specially around the bins of dark chocolate.

Reviews & ratings on this one are pretty perplexing… I don’t know if people are expecting some overly sweet sugar bomb with this, or what?…for me, this smells exactly as it implies…a dark, artisan chocolate with infused nutty nuances (almost like a nutty chocolate bark)…Olivier Cresp managed to isolate the chocolatey subtleties of patchouli, while dispensing of the musty/earthy components of the note..the product is a well-executed dark, nutty chocolate…unisex. Simple…

This one is not easy to approach and will not appeal to those looking for “a perfume that smells like chocolate.” The first spray is indeed very chocolatey: you put your nose over dark chocolate melting on the stove. It’s almost a bit too realistic for me, honestly. But after five minutes… it becomes perfume, in the sense Frédéric Malle understands it: a perfume must take into account the fact that it is worn on skin and react accordingly. If you create a scent without considering that, you’re making candle fragrances. Like many people here, I would bet my hand there’s patchouli in it. A cocoa-tinged patchouli, dark, damp, earthy. Completely my thing. Obviously, there’s no need to mention it (but I will anyway): the same incredible patchouli holds Angel. But is there really patchouli in Dark? No note pyramid mentions it, including the brand’s. Why would Olivier Cresp omit the fact that he composed a new chocolate–patchouli fragrance after having revolutionized perfumery in 1992 with those very notes? I tend to believe we’re all experiencing an olfactory hallucination and that there isn’t a single bit of patchouli in Dark. It would be wonderful. On my skin, and like Angel (especially the older version), Dark melts into the warmth of the skin to exhale a hybrid scent that has nothing to do with candy anymore. We enter the urge to smell it again and again, a scent so uncommon it becomes addictive. The hazelnut obviously makes me think of Angel Muse, but once again, Dark frees itself from Muse sparkling notes that would made the strangeness a bit more accessible. Since 100% cocoa paste is inedible (if you’ve tried it, you know), the equivalent of a chocolatier’s spoon of sugar has been transposed into Dark through the addition of cinnamon and vanilla, just enough to round everything out without stripping the composition of its rawness. Here and there, faint (and probably imaginary) wafts of tobacco, booze and smoke appear and disappear just as quickly, in my mind completely fogged over in this mystical dream. The kind of dream you wake from retaining only the feeling of having experienced something huge and very blurry at the same time. To my nose, Dark is a masterpiece, at the opposite end of the gourmand spectrum, yet at the very source of what makes a great gourmand perfume: irrational addiction.

It is masculine and indeed dark. To my nose this is a patchouli bomb. The patchouli here has chocolate facets. I feel also incense. Brooding, sensual, masculine scent. Today I feel none of the gourmand facets in it. Black Phantom is a sweet and smooth dessert compairing to this.

If Killian's Black Phantom is too dark and moody of a gourmand for you, don't even bother with Dark by Akro. This reminds me of Santal Majuscule by Serge Lutens, it smells similarly of an antique wooden chest but in Dark, the chest is filled with coffee beans. I think this smells unpleasant and difficult to wear- the scent truly fits the name.

Maybe it’s the combination of cinnamon and hazelnut that throws me off, but somehow the chocolate comes off patchouli-like, and I am not a fan of this note. I have also found that perfumes that contain lots of cinnamon don’t work for me. Glad I got to try it though.

I've had the 30ml bottle for over two years now but hardly used it. Dark is more of a 'dry' gourmand that is more perfumery than simply foodie gourmand. It was released in 2018 when the foodie style really hit the global olfactory market and becoming norm. Overall, easy to wear, not cloying, light and airy. Projection and sillage is medium average. Gender neutral and best worn in cooler evenings. Dark can be office safe with 1-2 sprays max. However, I'm not so fond of that smoky dry down.

This is really nice. The note breakdown makes this come off like a cheap uninteresting gourmand akin to what one might find from the Lattafa gourmand line. This is not that. This is actually dark. It has a really nice patchouli in there that makes this actually a mature smelling scent. It reminds me of YSL tuxedo a little bit but with a heavy dose of high end dark chocolate pudding. Definitely a very dressed up winter gourmand. Great pick up from Akro. Don’t sleep on this.

An elegant, well-crafted fragrance built around a dominant cocoa note. Underpinned by subtle rum-like accords and nuts, sweetened and smoothed with vanilla, it feels sensual, fairly heavy, and true to its name. As it settles on the skin, a gentle smoky veil appears. On fabric, the longevity is all-day.

I was soooo excited for this one. It just smells like sweet plastic. Hard pass.

While BAKE is an easy to like gourmand, DARK is (in my opinion) better. It’s a seductive and irresistible combination of chocolate, cocoa, hazelnuts and a well paired Pachouli. It has a smokiness that cuts through the sweetness and elevates the notes to a new high. Give it a try.

There is definitely patchouli and animalic leather in there, I don't know why they're not listed in the notes. just like the name suggests, it's really a dark and dusty scent, can smell it on my clothes even after a week it's applied. I don't know if I would buy a 100ml bottle but a 30ml one? maybe. it's best suited for the cold fall and winter nights when you don't wanna smell really sexy or anything but to radiate a animalic good scent that confuses people, was that a fragrance? why is this dude really smells like a fancy horse wearing a leather saddle? Oh and you can definitely smell the chocolate specially in the beginning. it's not sweet at all tho. complex fragrance I would love to have in my collection but I just know I would never finish and reach out often but I could when I'm in the right mood

This is great if you like patchouli but if you don’t like I do, this is not for you. All I got was wet patchouli from this.
