The original Bond 9 Lafayette St. for $25 you can't go wrong. Same perfumer btw
I was in college when this came out, in 2000. A guy I was dating introduced this to me and I was HOOKED! This is my absolute FAVORITE men's cologne to date! NOTHING beats this smell, even the $300.00 heavy hitters can't match this unique and seductive fragrance. It is so mysterious, seductive and alluring and it smells different than your average cologne. This is the the kind of scent that you'd just have to stop a stranger in the street and ask "what are you wearing?"
This is Nikos Sculpture but stronger. Takes me back to the early 00s. This was a very popular cologne back in the day . Do not abuse it. More than 4 sprays and it´s headache time. Longevity and sillage are outstanding, just go easy with the sprays.
Lowk definition of a 7/10. Really solid. It's like sprite with a bit of powder and less sparkle or no sparkle at all. Really solid day time fragrance. Ig it is a bit basic but I would say it's a solid fragrance. I would say it does lean I wouldn't say masculine notes but I feel it is more male. Any age and u can rock it. Overall cool buy ngl
I don't get the reviews and maybe it's just my nose. I bought this a few years ago and sprayed it in the air and thought it smelled kind of synthetic. FF to today and it's one of those days you are just going to sit at home anyway so I dug it out and threw it on. In the air it's still a bit synthetic but as soon as it hit my skin absolute magic! I couldn't believe it was the same fragrance. Its like the coziest slightly sweet fruity vanilla fabric softener you can get your hands on. Something about it is just comforting. I'll definitely start putting this in the rotation
Some how fresh, slightly sweet, and woody. Pretty strong and long lasting for an EDT. Incredible value and has this nice old school sent that still holds up modern day. As a younger man I really enjoy this fragrance.
I sill use this when i am feeling 90's nostalgic. It only last a few hours, so I layer it with Vanilla Vibes & JHAG Superdose
I avoided this fragrance for years based of the reviews I read, despite being a Dunhill fan. When I finally bought a bottle and put my nose to it, I was frustrated that it bore no resemblance to the fragrance many negative reviewers were claiming. It’s been around for over 25 years, and tastes are subjective. There have probably been more than a few reformulations. I suspect, however, that many opinions were formed long ago, and may not be fair based on the current market. Things have changed in the last 25 years. There are new standards we can compare Dunhill Desire to that can help to set aside subjectivity. Let me be clear. By modern standards, Dunhill Desire is neither youthful, sweet or cloying, nor overly synthetic. 25 years ago, the trend was mostly freshies with what would be considered poor performance and longevity by todays standards. Desire may very well have stood out as overly sweet and loud by the standards of the day. But I write this in 2026. By today’s standards, Dunhill Desire comes off fresh and musky, with a semi sweet apple accord and orange blossom completely in step with YSLs popular freshies, almost a melding of Y and Myself. It dries down with a woody teak and a hint of rose, a very common masculine scent for today. The over 35s may still think of this as a youthful scent, but the youths it was designed for are now middle aged. To anyone under 30, I guarantee this will come off as a “dad scent.” That isn’t to say that Dunhill Desire doesn’t have much to offer younger guys looking for something classy and a little old fashioned for a price that can’t be beat. Dunhill Desire is far from loud, sweet, or feminine by today’s standards. It is rather fairly common and mild in both sweetness and projection. Line this up against Stronger with You, Althair, or even Layton with which I’ve seen it bafflingly compared, and you will not find a comparison. Rather, Desire would make a great daily driver. It is super versatile, would work great in any season, a pleasant option to spray without thinking, and would make an excellent office scent. Opinions were clearly made on Dunhill Desire long ago, but if you’ve never tried it, or if you dismissed it in the 2000s, it’s time to give it a new chance. It sells for less than $30 on discounters, and is of far higher quality than it’s price would suggest. At present, it also seems that all Dunhill fragrances have been discontinued, so they may not be available for long, and there is so much quality being lost if so. Some of the other flankers are even more worth checking out. If you’re looking for something more youthful and sweet by today’s standards, try Desire Platinum. It has a vanilla cinnamon autumnal scent with an almost maple syrup quality. For a drier, even more mature classiness, Desire Black’s fresh pepperiness has become a favorite of mine. For a slightly sweeter but not cloying soapy, woody autumn scent, try Desire Bronze. Dunhill has unfairly been taken for granted over the years, and Dunhill Desire has perhaps faired the worst for that lapse. For its price, you owe it to yourself to give this scent a chance before it’s gone for good. And if enough of us catch on to this great option for a low price, maybe there’s even a chance it gets returned to production. Its profile may not be particularly unique, but you won’t find a lot of people wearing it these days. It would make a desirable signature scent.
This is made by the same perfumer who made Nikos Sculpture and they share similar DNA. This is a bit less sharp, a but more feminine version that adds some more wood nuances, some bergamot, some rose and some sweet notes. It's quite nice and likeable. A bit introverted. Projection is pretty modest. Not rugged and masculine. They are still so far apart that it's worth owning both if you like this style of fresh mid 90s to 00s perfumery.
A very lovely, pleasant scent; but this isn't just a feminine cologne or even a unisex fragrance— it's straight up women's perfume. I purchased a spray bottle online recently because I found a 15-20 year old splash bottle of Desire at my parent's house over the holidays; it was gifted to my dad many years ago and my mother discovered it after doing some decluttering. This ostensibly previous formulation was far better— it was light, crisp and apple-y in a fresh fruit sort of way, and walked a very delicate unisex line, with an *ever* so slight tilt toward masculine. I was impressed / intrigued by it enough to purchase my own bottle. This new formulation in the bottle which I purchased online (legit) is entirely too heavy on the rose and vanilla notes, has a synthetic, chemical-like tinge in the opening and a candy-like sweetness on the dry-down. Again, this would work wonderfully as a women's fragrance, but it's not suited for a man in my humble opinion.
Just bought this today. A beautiful and unique everyday or work fragrance with a nice blend of apple and floral notes. Surprisingly modern for 25 years old. I am very happy with my purchase.
Its calm, light. Like a sweet iced tea. Truly a masterpiece. Once you've smelled this you will think of it often; its invocative of happiness.
Late to the party. Signature scent-worthy. Apple Jolly Rancher with rose
Great scent for everyday use—3 to 5 sprays are enough to project, and it works for most occasions. Very comfortable to wear. Overall, I’d give it 7/10.
Great value for money. Used around half a bottle and gave away.
The opening is harsh and synthetic. Might even be off-putting for some people. But then settles into sweet base notes that make up for the bad opening. It was my first buy in fragrance journey. I regretted it slightly after finding some better options but still not a bad buy.
I gave this to my husband because there is something in it that just turns my crank...2 years later, I bought some b&b bodyworks pump soap called Citrus Blossom. THAT is what is in Desire that I adore! Daytime, my man wears either Vetiver or woodsy types, but at night, it has got to be Desire red...it works if you kwim*..
Too much hyped! That great as much as people are making it but yeah a sweet versatile fragrance which won’t offend anyone, isn’t a head turner.
Solid Fragrance 9.0/10 There is no doubt in my mind that this inspired the “glazed” Layton PDM.
Very briefly, and I'll go! A pleasant and lovely perfume with medium to high longevity and fragrance for autumn and then early spring. This perfume is very attractive with the smell of cigarettes!! Enjoy it .
Used to wear this back in HS when I thought I had game. I had this and a $10 Aeropostale shirt and thought I had swagger... smells good still straightforward perfume cant be mad at it.
Something to just grab and go. Very inoffensive due to the soft, sweet floral nature that to me smells unisex with some masculinity slipping through the cracks. For something that came out in 2000, this one surprisingly smells like a 16-40 yr old person's fragrance. But overall this is a boring but safe Cologne™ type of fragrance.
Crisp and really sweet. Apple is very present. Floral and vanilla notes are also there. A safe bet to wear. Can start to smell generic overtime so should not be over-worn. 7.5/10
Bought it after seeing the reviews. Found it cheap. Did not like it at all.
Mainly apple citruses rose and vanille. Synthetic and sickeningly sweet. I know its cheap but quality is bad even for this price.
My very first fragrance, too many memories with this beautiful scent, it fits the "everyday-every occasion" criteria perfectly, combined with Dior's Midnight charm , it gives a perfect sweet touch to it and it fills out the lack of depth it has, I've always had this combo and will keep using it❤️
This was one of my very first fragrance I got when I first started collecting at the end of 2020. It was bad then, and 5 years later it’s not any better. I gave it to my little brother and he hasn’t enjoyed it himself. I come to his display to smell it every few months and it smells so bad every time I smell it. It’s super synthetic and just horrible. It smells like jaguar gold but jaguar gold has more staying power and I do like it abit more. But again these are fragrances I will never wear as it’s so not my style and the fragrance itself in my opinion is a synthetic mess.
Was looking for this perfume for a long time after smelling a clone of it 10 years back. It's a great smelling fragrance with citruses, vanilla, and almost undetectable rose. Not very powdery. Will buy a full bottle.
This fragrance works for me. It gets better in warmer season. I probably will buy another bottle for keepsake. Just love them!
The closest scent to this perfume is Jaguar Classic Gold with about 10% more diffusion and longer lasting. Chastity Ajmal also has a scent and performance close to Dunhill Red at a very low price.
