Animalic oud masterfully paired with fruit and incense. Experienced noses only.

This was love at first sniff for me. I also rank PDM Layton Exclusif in high regard and felt the dry downs were similar. I then found out they both were made by the same perfumer, which makes perfect sense to me. I would say if you like one, you'd definitely like the other for sure. I also believe they're different enough to own both and aren't completely redundant.

Man i have gone thro 2x2ml and 1x5ml sample and i just freaking looooove this. after watching 10+ vid's on people hating on it, i just want it more!!! Silver oud tho i hate that, can't stand it... so funny how the nose works on diff people.

It really is crazy how subjective fragrances are. I can smell what people are pointing to when they say King Blue is fecal or animalic at the beginning, but I get nothing at all that is off-putting in any way. This scent is so nice and pleasant. It is very wearable all year round. In fact, I think this one is actually more suitable in the heat. It has a freshness that most ouds and incense perfumes do not have. Big fan of King Blue.

Quality ways its good. But the problem is the perceived note.the stinkiness of the oud,the dense Ambry notes and the fruity notes gives me a perceived note of over ripe jackfruit. It stinks and attract flies.

Funky oud, super funky. Stinky-ness, I don’t pick any up. Surprisingly I love it somehow. Underneath all of that is a beautiful blueberry pie or even a tart. Not blind buy safe at all. One of my best amouage fragrances. Apparently it’s mass appealing in the air (which I doubt), can’t wait for my full bottle to test.

Along with Search, King Blue is one of the few Amouage's that doesn't work for me. The mixture of warm, cedar-like oud with jammy fruit in the opening is pleasant enough, but it dries down to something too sweet, like a cheap scented candle. Performance is only moderate. Smells like warm blueberry muffins. Silver Oud is exponentially better.

Today we have one of the most infamous fragrances from Amouage's Opus Collection, King Blue. Amouage describes it as a fragrance where reality and fantasy converge; a composition that blurs the line between the impossible and the familiar. It is also one of the house's most polarizing releases, with even some fragrance enthusiasts I know describing it as simply too challenging. The fragrance opens with a sweet, jammy blend of mandarin and blackcurrant that is tart, fruity, and almost reminiscent of blueberries, while pink pepper adds a subtle sparkle. Beneath the fruit, however, is an unmistakable oud accord that leans animalic with a slightly funky, barnyard character. It is an unusual combination, yet a surprisingly captivating one. The oud never completely dominates the composition; instead, it provides just enough funk to keep drawing you back for another smell out of curiosity. After around 30 to 45 minutes on skin, King Blue begins to settle. Rich frankincense and warm amber emerge, softening the rougher edges of the oud while allowing the fruity notes to take on a more prominent role. The fragrance becomes smoother and more refined, although it never loses the distinctive character established in the opening. After two to three hours, the fragrance moves into its later dry down. Sandalwood and oak provide a deep woody foundation, while patchouli introduces a gentle peppery nuance. On my skin, the final stage is a sweet, slightly fruity woody oud fragrance with lingering animalic undertones, subtle spices, and a smooth leather accord that helps round everything out. One thing I would recommend with King Blue, and really with many oud fragrances, is not to judge it solely by smelling it up close on paper or skin. Instead, give it some room to project and let it come to you naturally. When I caught it in the air, I noticed very little of the animalic oud after the first ten minutes. The sweeter fruity aspects became much more noticeable. Interestingly, although oud is listed as a base note, I experience it most prominently in the opening, with it making a quieter return during the later dry down as the fruits begin to soften. Realistically, that is also the version of the fragrance that most people around you are likely to notice. If you are interested in exploring oud but not necessarily for the most intense or uncompromising natural oud experience, King Blue is a fragrance I would recommend. It presents a well blended oud accord that retains enough earthy funk to be interesting while surrounding it with sweet fruits, warm woods, resins, and leather. It is certainly a fragrance that will divide opinions; however, I think it succeeds in offering something distinctive. For me, this is another successful release from Amouage and another strong addition to the Opus Collection.

My first impression of King Blue is that it is definitely a challenging fragrance. The opening feels rather harsh and difficult, with the mandarin, blackcurrant and pink pepper colliding with a dark, animalic oud and leather accord. It is not immediately pleasant or easy to understand. However, the dry-down is where King Blue truly shines. As the sharper edges settle, the frankincense and amber emerge beautifully, while the oud becomes smoother and blends with leather, oak, sandalwood and patchouli. The result is deep, woody, smoky and slightly creamy, with the complexity and evolution that I expect from Amouage. Performance from my decant was not beast mode, which surprised me considering Amouage’s reputation. However, this may have been an issue with the decant or atomizer, so I would not judge the fragrance’s performance conclusively yet. Overall, King Blue is not a safe or instantly likeable scent. It demands patience and evolves considerably on the skin. The opening may test you, but its real beauty reveals itself in the rich and sophisticated dry-down.

When I first sprayed this a few months ago, the barnyard edge was overpowering. Now I can barely detect it. Instead it’s light fruit and resinous wood. Practically refreshing!

Анонім★★★★★

Got me a bottle! I adore this stuff. It’s pretty much just for me or my fragrance enthusiast friends though!

A relic from another world. Regal, enigmatic, almost spiritual. This may very well be the greatest fragrance ever created. 10/10

Man... This is crazy, because yeah the opening is super animalic but if you give it not even a few minutes it disappears completely and this is just gorgeous, wow. Infact I'd say this is one of the least challenging Amouage scents once it settles it's just that nice. I tried it this morning in 30°c weather and the fruitiness really shines in the heat. The way it evolves isn't unlike LV Myriad actually, a very sweet and airy fragrance that is grounded by a very strong oud base. I never thought I'd be interested in this one but I'm probably getting it now. Let me add that if you catch a quick whiff of the atomizer or just a spray in store and get blasted with the stinky oud, I don't think you have truly smelled how it behaves in the air, I can't stress enough how this is NOT how this fragrance smells.

I honestly believe it's very much depends on the nose, but to me this fragrance is just plain unwearable. I've ordered a bunch of Opus samples from Amouage to familiarize myself with what this whole library has to offer and among all this is my least favorite one. After the spray on the skin I get the cloying blueberry and fecal notes, together with the overall sweetness just makes me sick. After the dry there's a mix of wood, oud a blueberries - again to sweet for me. 8 hours in (after a good shower) it's still there. Oud smell, still not to my liking. I have to admin, the power of the fragrance is immense. Probably would stay on the skin for days, but I would not want it. Not blind buy safe!

Think synthetic fake blueberry, like IHOP blueberry syrup. For me it never lost that smell throughout the wear, although after an hour or so it softened some, and personally I hardly get any other notes. If it wasn’t from Amouage I would totally dismiss it. For me, needs to be layered with another fragrance

This is called king blue for a reason. It’s made for a king. A king is so powerful that he doesn’t care about compliments . This is so powerful and unique smelling that if you dare tell the king he stinks it’s off with your head. This is a I walk around with 2 middle fingers high in in the sky because I smell like royalty . The way this fragrance transitions is a work of art. You wear this loud and proud for yourself this isn’t for the weak

Анонім★★★★★

This scent is surprisingly wearable for real oud. I get juicy citrus and other fruit, along with leather accords and oud. I do find the oud raunchy and animalic, but in no way fecal, unless you think poop smells like musky berries. What’s interesting is I absolutely see the “blue” influence on this profile, just with a heavy dose of oud and other dense perfume oils. I say this is a year-round scent, day or night, but maybe keep it to 2-3 sprays if you want to wear it to the office, and don’t wear it for complements, because you probably won’t get any. It’s fruity and juicy but personally I wouldn’t want to smell this on a woman…it’s very masculine to me. 9.2/10

A bear who only eats blueberries shits in the woods. Followed quickly by the woods the blueberry bear shat in. Approachable and appealing in spite of its feral origin.

I definitely enjoy king blue. Unfortunately a girl I showed it to said something about it that really stuck out in my brain and I haven’t been able to get over it. She said it smells like how she imagines a sick diabetic persons pee would smell. Sadly I kind of understand what she means by that. Still love it but can’t stop thinking about that

10/10, one of the best Amouages ever made! Those who truly love Amouage understand this beauty!

King blue has some funk to it, yes. But to my nose it's barely there at all, & I wouldn't even go as far to say it's even slightly unpleasant. But I actually think this is going to be more pleasant than something like silver oud for most people because of the amazing accompanying citrus & spicy notes (I mainly get a blueberry & blackcurrant like scent). I have also heard quite a few people say that silver oud can become more funky as it ages inside the bottle. I am just not a big fan of leather notes so I would say that's probably my one big complaint. HOWEVER, on skin I hardly get much of that at all. My only issue with wearing this on skin is that I obviously don't get to smell it for as long, & for a scent I love this much I want to smell it all fucking day. I think if you like silver oud, you NEED to try this one. To me this is just an upgrade to that fragrance. Although obviously, they are quite different. The main upgrade here is how the Assam oud, the obvious center piece for both fragrances, is presented. The sandalwood in this one is 10/10, it lingers in the air. Anyone around you who likes sandalwood is going to be trying to get more. 10/10

King Blue is addictive! I use to be so worried trying any oud fragrances when the "fecal" word was always used. First time I tried a sample I thought is that all? It just smells like a cow shed on a farm I would visit as a kid but it isn't a turn off for me.The oud does settle down to a beautiful rich fruity woody smell. It has an addictive sweetness in the air that is needed for when the oily leather comes in. This fragrance really pushes off the skin and it lasts 12+ hours for me and even 24hrs on clothes. I ended up purchasing a full bottle and I have no regrets. I believe King Blue should have a higher rating as it's criminally underrated.

The first 15-30 minutes are a challenge. It's like someone used fruity bathroom spray in a pig sty. But the dry-down is incredible. Woody, smokey, leather. I don't know if I've ever tried a scent that kept improving each hour. On my skin, it's complex, dynamic, projective and long-lasting. It's worth it if you can push through the first 15-30 minutes.

Анонім★★★★★

It’s a very animalic, dirty, and challenging fragrance. I respect those who love it, but for me, it’s difficult to wear.

Анонім★★★★★

this is undoubtedly one of the best fragrances ive ever put my nose on. to me this smells like a blueberry pie that has oud and leather chunks on top. its not barnyardy nor animalic tbh. lasts forever and the sillage is crazy!!

Анонім★★★★★

Leather hater’s favourite leather. The perfume equivalent of hitting a second hole

WoW, i never smelled real oud till now. Incredible Barnyard opening, smells like manure, i mean really. But as it dries down, that goes more away, and for some reason i get this very burned / sugar ambery tone combined with the depth, and dryness from the oud. Late dry down is classic Amouage, Frankincense ambery and while the oud is still there a little Also the woody notes in this comes to the surface as well. Beautifull scent, well blended. I def need a bottle!

Анонім★★★★★

The dry down smells like Orto Parisi’s Seminalis, but far more pungent, musky, and long-lasting. Not for me.
