You know that smell of yesterdays party? The smell of old beer. I get that from time to time from this. I'm a man, so this could definitely work better on feminine skin. The rest of what i get is great, but the occasional scent of yesterdays beer is a major turnoff. 100% try before you buy.
My bottle is on ebay if anyone is interested https://www.ebay.com/itm/147462965018
And a whiff of stale old beer.
Unfortunately this is the first REAL miss from Amouage that I’ve smelled out of about 45 (which shows how amazing the brand is tbh). Overture woman looks so good with its note breakdown, but it’s just a synthetic jumble of accords that doesn’t seem to fit well. It gives me a headache, and I don’t understand what the perfume is doing. Maybe I need to try it more, but the couple times I had it on skin, it didn’t even feel like I was wearing a perfume, but rather like I was putting a mix of random aroma chemicals on my body. Edit; I ordered a 2ml decant in order to test it more. I'll update once I've finished the decant
Boozy apple myrrh saffron and leather. Not bad not good either, but its unique for sure.
It smells a bit like Dabana. It’s kind of like sugar-cured cherries mixed with alcohol.
This scent is delicious. I understand why folks that want the traditional Amouage DNA don't rate it highly. But for someone like myself that doesn't long for that strong and Omani-esque vibe, I love it. It has the Amouage quality without all the incense and heavy hitters in the air. It's smooth and luxuriously fruity--but it's not a typical fruity scent. The apricot has to be the best done apricot I have ever smelled...it's like apricot with a light leather/suede. Absolute love. My favorite Amouage next to Love Tuberose and Elsewhere.
This is marketed as a woman’s perfume but it’s definitely unisex. It’s a a sweet, boozy fragrance with a little hint of rose. It’s very versatile as I’ve worn this in summer with no problem of it feeling heavy or cloying. Up there with one of amouage’s best 👌🏼
This was a blind buy and probably the best blind buy I’ve made. I always get compliments when I wear this scent and most people will say they’ve never smelt anything like it. It’s boozy and sweet, lasts for hours and the rub down is smooth and powdery. Most will say it reminds them of the clubs in the 80’s, smoky, beer, alcohol and perfume. I adore this perfume, if I could wear it everyday I would, but it’s too strong for those who wear floral scents. I love scents that make a statement and this scent is that.
My mind keeps coming back to this scent more than any of the other 12 samples I received in the Amouage Discovery Set, mostly because it is so complex and unique. But don't get me wrong—this is not your usual go-to people-pleasing fragrance. This is a perfume Cleopatra would wear, a scent suited for a queen. If you found yourself in her presence, you would probably be completely captivated. This is a statement of power, strength, and regality, with a hint of something sweet and seductive. This is elegance in a bottle. From the listed notes, I can mostly pick up rose, saffron, leather, a bit of smokiness, and perhaps some resin. I usually do not gravitate toward boozy fragrances, but in this case, the complexity of the scent makes it incredibly alluring and unforgettable. It also leans toward the sweeter side. I would not recommend wearing this in small, enclosed spaces, as it could be too heavy and headache-inducing for others. Nevertheless, it is very well suited for evenings.
This one is kinda funky and I like it…
The dregs at the bottom of a tin of traditional English cider that’s been left in the sun all day
I love this. I have a decant now. Maybe later I will buy a full bottle or another decant. I have to many Eventually I will get it first I need to buy others and use some more of the ones I have. This one is available so I can wait.
Wow this really surprised me! Based on the notes I thought I would hate this but it is the complete opposite. It opens rich and creamy with a resinous warmth, soft sweetness and velvety depth. As it develops, the brighter floral nuances fade and it settles into a smooth, balsamic richness that feels so elegant and composed. Hours later it remains warm and addictive on my skin and I kept returning to my wrist. It isn't my usual airy, sweet style but there is something so compelling about its depth.
This is an Amouage release that seems to be frequently overlooked. That could, perhaps, be due to Amouage’s masculine releases usually getting more attention, and, to that point, Overture Man was a bit of a disappointment – so perhaps Overture Woman fell victim to timing, with Christopher Chong exiting the brand only a year prior and there not being someone at the helm to really drive this release, in addition to a lackluster reception for the masculine counterpart. This is quite unfortunate because Overture Woman is really quite good. You are not likely to enjoy it at the start, though. Or at least I was definitely leaning towards not. The massive amount of fruity and rosey damascones in Overture Woman is an onslaught. Sour, oily, and bitter bergamot give zestiness to a big, red, juicy apple note that launches into the air with fervor, determined to make sure you notice it and test your limits. There is a saffron note lurking alongside it to make sure there is a touch of cool, hay like woodiness to somewhat close-in the blast radius of the bright red apple bomb. This phases out fairly quickly and transitions to a beautiful – if a bit predictable – spicy green rose heart. The luscious red rose has sharp green edges to its petals thanks to the lemony-sour green note of geranium, and a bit of dramatic depth from aromatic and woody cinnamon. It’s very pretty, and it holds here for a strikingly long time largely thanks to Menardo’s handling of the base. The note pyramid and even the brand’s own description don’t really give you the right idea of what is going on in the dry down. Instead of incense, it should say incense resins; there is a solid state, sour, green quality in the dry down that smells of incense but not incense smoke. Instead of labdanum it should say cistus labdanum; there is an earthy-sweet and balsamic facet reminiscent of solvent-extracted labdanum, yes, but there is a striking floral quality far more reminiscent of steam-distilled labdanum aka cistus. Overall, we have a spicy green floral heart and a spicy green floral base, where the latter shifts a touch more towards balsamic earthy in a very subtle and very well-coordinated way. Nicely done, and it smells lovely. Overture Woman is certainly quite a bit better than its masculine counterpart. Its coherence and legibility are certainly missed in Overture Man. However, while Overture Man went too far in the direction of being complicated, overexerting, and aimless, Overture Woman goes too far in the opposite direction of simplicity, deft, and hyper-focus. In other words, it’s a bit too predictable and a bit boring. It needs a bit of the character of Overture Man, while Overture Man needs a bit of the character of Overture Woman. Somewhere in between these two perfumes, a hybridization of sorts, lives a gorgeous perfume and likely a near perfect presentation of what both Overtures should be. I really like Overture Woman. It’s very pleasing and wonderful to smell, but unlike a grand operatic overture I’m not likely going to remember it for long or feel much of a need to revisit it.
Been wanting to blind buy this for ages at this point. For whatever reason, I never did. Today I had the chance to finally test this while travelling and all I can say is that I am glad a blind buy has never happened. I can appreciate the idea behind it, however I find the fragrance to be too Saffron heavy for my liking, while notes such as Leather, Myrhh & Olibanum don’t seem to appear at all on my skin. The Brandy and Apple combo works and comes off as beautifully blended. It just tends to lean much sweeter than expected, which is yet another deal breaker. The performance is brilliant, however that doesn’t help its case. Beautiful fragrance. Definitely worth checking out. Just not for me.
Sunt dezgustata de el. Miroase ca si cum ai turna benzina peste voma, fara sa exagerez cu nimic. Sunt complet oripilata!
This is really beautiful for a few hours but something about the base notes feels kinda flat in comparison to my other amouages. It’s just a spicy sweet leather and I’m left wanting more excitement as I do with interlude woman or memoir woman
Classy, luxurious fragrance. It smells boozy , brandy note is the most recognizable for me . But if you have experience with Amouage you know that all the notes are combined in a way that leaves a feeling of a masterclass perfume. The sillage and longevity are above average and definitely a 10/10 for a women's perfume. They are even impressive from a male point of view. Top level from Amouage . Forsure .
Not the best of amouage for sure but we can say Vintage ( cinnamon & apple ) take from the line
Overture is certainly not for the faint of heart. This stuff is pretty nuclear. I once wore it layered w the Saffron Hamra attar.. big mistake lol. That being said, I LOVE this stuff (on its own of course). This is the pinnacle of boldness, regality, and ancient/raw femininity (not whatever nonsense is used to describe femininity in our modern times) . I like to use my imagination and “see” scent, and with this I see a wealthy woman in Ancient Egypt. Roaming her gold drenched mansion while her multiple felines adore and protect her.
I will be in a minority, but I can't stand this fragrance. (I am a 46 young woman). If the suffocating strong leather with saffron wouldn't be there, it could have been lovely, but what I get from it is a strong - strong rubber, like I was in a tyre factory. The sample goes to a dustbin. Immediately!
I’m a 46 year old guy🧔♂️& this is my second time dropping a review on this fragrance. I just can’t help it... I love wearing this stuff 😍✨️🙌
Brothers, do not be afraid of this one!!! As a man, Overture Woman wears beautifully unisex. It has a boozy apple note, saffron, and the smoky leather feels bold, dark, and luxurious on my skin. It has strong projection, easily filling a room in the first few hours, and leaves a noticeable scent trail. Longevity is excellent too, typically 8–12 hours, making it a powerful statement scent that lasts all night. Not blind buy safe!!!! I paid $166 USD for a 100ml bottle on Olfactory LLC.
I get the connection between overture man. They both have that animalic base that is not animalic. The animalic note is more like a fuzzy incense. This goes into a fruity brandy. It's like a more deeper, floral Armani, Stronger With You Intensly or Lattafa Khamra with fuzzy incense
Apple Brandy On The Rocks but the name is fitting. Overture Woman was a surprise, I didn't expect this to come off as fresh and sparkling as it did. The opening is lead by a bright and boozy apple, it gave me champagne/cider vibes, while the scent up close on the skin is very ambery, but these ambers have an almost white floral finish to them. I don't really know how to describe it, this quality reminds me of other fragrances like Uden Overdose or the new Dior Homme Parfum. After a while the ambers subside slightly and the scent starts becoming leathery, but it manages to blend the leather and the boozy apple perfectly. To be completely honest I got no spices out of this and the leather note stays closer to the skin, all I really smelled in the air was the boozy apple. My mom told me this smelled like beer and I guess I could kind of see why but I think it's too crude of a description of the scent. Performance is typical Amouage, strong projection with a dense sillage. Unlike most Amouage however I feel this didn't project for as long as other fragrances, but it still did for a few hours anyways so I don't think anyone will complain, this still performs well above average. Longevity is an easy 8 hours.
Luxury oudy scent more unisex
Fruity with subtle spice. This is sweet
I already reviewed this when I purchased it six months ago I had a jump in and tell you this is one of the most beautiful yet commanding fragrances.
From the very first moment, Overture Woman reveals a character that feels somewhat familiar yet undeniably beautiful and well-balanced. It opens with a sumptuous boozy-fruity accord, reminiscent of aged wine laced with a sticky sweetness akin to dark plum jam. This opulent opening does not come alone but intertwines with delicate saffron nuances carrying a smoky leathered undertone, lending the fragrance a mysterious allure, as though one were stepping into a theater hall veiled in smoke and dim light. At its heart, the fragrance transforms into a more complex and dramatic scene, where a bitter amber tone, saturated with smoke, unfolds. Around it swirl subtle jasmine-like floral hints—unannounced yet discernible—that I believe stem from methyl anthranilate, which reinforces the grapey fruitiness. These impressions are enriched by a warm cinnamon hue that melts the sweetness into a spicy oriental nuance, deepening the balsamic body and binding it more firmly to the boozy-fruity character. As it settles on the skin, a rich and opulent base emerges, oscillating between smoky amber and dark leathered warmth. Here, labdanum takes the lead, releasing a dense resinous smoke that blends with a frankincense undertone, while a deep leathery streak runs beneath, enhancing the boozy dimension. Heavy yet fluid, this is a fragrance that straddles the line between the oriental and gourmand families: fruity without excessive sweetness, sweet yet restrained, oriental but never drowning in overwhelming woods or leather.
