Purpose 50

Bought this as a 1ml sample in my attempt to test out all amouages. First of all I want to say - one thing i truly love about Amouage is that so many of their perfumes perfectly convey scent using bottle design --- which is something a lot of other houses don't really do. Maybe they think it's not classy enough. For me this is extremely useful and helps describe or give form to the experience in a more coherent way (however, it's true that it might also be influencing it in the other direction) This is splendid. It's indeed dark green, creamy, woody, spicy and slightly sweet. It gives off a classy, elegant, but vivid vibe. There's a component or note in it which is extremely familiar to me and almost immediately identifiable as a "generic designer fragrance". However, it's wrapped in so much creaminess, roundness, and a distinctive dark green pillar that prevents it from feeling like a run-of-the-mill bland designer perfume. However, it's true that the profile itself is very safe, crowd-pleasing, and not unique. this is simply a very well done and non-Ambroxan version of what designer perfumes would call a "woody fragrance" I'm probably not going to buy it - cause i prioritize the most niche stuff, but I'm sure a ton of people would enjoy and appreciate it.

An absolute masterpiece. It is masculine through and through. Incredible sillage and dry down. Lasts forever. Worth every cent.

This really grew on me. After a couple of times trying and sampling this perfume, I get it now. I was really surprised when people said this has aspects of Guidance 46 as I did not get them at first but after several times sampling I do get that deep, opulent sense of Guidance 46, I think it's that deep a bit damp sandalwood and akigalawood notes that truly connect those perfumes. But to be honest, I found Purpose 50 a bit more complex and more unique in a way. Although I am a big Guidance fan, I am taking my hat of for Purpose 50 and will admit it is complex and very very original. There is this freshness, almost minty aspect that I get and I really like. I think this perfume in very very small amounts, could work magically in the heat. Compared to Purpose, Purpose 50 has this deeper nuance while Purpose to me feels more sharper a bit colder, and even more in your face. I am not gonna shy away and say this smells like luxury. This smells like money... filthyyyyyyyy money. I do not think I could manage to go through 100ml of this scent because it is so strong but I can not help myself but dream about adding this to my collection. I do not think this is redundant if you have Guidance 46 to have this also.

A quintessential work of art in a world of bloated perfumery. It cannot be overstated enough how absolutely gorgeous this fragrance is. Perfection is an understatement, some argue you can’t use this in the summer, I wholeheartedly disagree. This has a cool almost menthol serenity to it that is comforting, deep and refreshing to me. Deep green and woods enveloping a soft Oud with vanilla. Incense wraps around you like a hug from someone you love, never wanting to let go. I’m not a huge fan of Mr. Quentin Bisch’s works, however, his vision for purpose 50 and Decision belong in the upper echelons of the fragrance world. Out of 153 bottles in my collection. This is number 2. Phenomenal. Performance: Nuclear , 2 sprays is borderline overspraying Sillage: Enormous Projection: room filling

All time fav …. It took me a year to actually buy Purpose 50 cause the price but mostly cause the scent was weird…. I did always get that cleaning bleach smell at first however I’d be obsessed with the dry down the next day and the wifts of it through out the week. I think you gotta let it macerate to get the woody/leather/metallic slightly sweet dry down… it’s like a Sandalwood with hints of olibanum, saffron, and vanilla. Beautiful and the bottle is my fav too

Firstly, to my nose this smells quite a bit different to OG purpose although they do still have a similar opening. The OG is much spicier and has a sharp black pepper note that is missing in purpose 50, it is also much more of a dry wood/pencil shavings smell. I really enjoy both versions of Purpose to be honest and i cant pick a favourite, it just depends on my mood. I do think that P50 is overall more polished and oppulent though. What I’m getting out of purpose 50, if I had to associate it with other frags I own, is Santal 33 with extra sweetness and frankincense with a bit of a rose note. It also kind makes me think of if I mixed Santal 33 with blue talisman extrait. I know this doesn’t have pear but perhaps the vanilla sweetness mimicks this note. Curious if anyone else gets this or my nose is cooked. Anyway I love the scent and it smells much better in the air, don’t wrist sniff as it can become too sweet and strong. I do understand a bit of that Guidance 46 DNA too. Also, can confirm it’s nuclear as many others have mentioned. I only do 1 spray of this. 9.5/10.

Smells like bleach + extra loud, great combo

Masculine mysterious creamy woody gourmand.. A work of art truly, smells like no other, even in the air there’s no mistaken this beauty and that performance they rave about is only the cherry on top. 10/10 masterpiece must have must try must sample must experience type of perfume In comparison to purpose this one feels like listening to tame impala currents for the first time through 500$ headphones, smelling this next to each other makes me excited for the release of decision 43 even though i don’t like decision to begin with thats how much of an upgrade and refinement this received over the og

To wear something as strong as this in public is an affront to civilisation and the very concept of conviviality. I smell this on, say, a weekly basis on someone nearby. When you wear Purpose 50, you become the one who talks loudly on his phone on the bus, in the theatre or in the restaurant; you become the one mindlessly doomscrolling TikTok on full loudspeaker volume in front of others. You become the one people look at with a mixture of disdain and pity for being so hopelessly awkward. Don’t be that guy.

C’est vraiment un Parfum addictifs et vraiment magnifique je possède le purpose original qui est un très beau Parfums mystérieux aussi mais je préfère le 50 avec ce petit fond vanillé, mais le prix est exorbitant mais c’est vrai que les ingrédients sont de très haute qualité et la tenue et le siège sont extraordinaires. Mais bon devant des Parfums, presque 600 € c’est de la folie.

Had the chance to smell this, and let me say, this is nuclear strong, I put one spray on a strip and left it in the inner pocket of my jacket, could smell it through it even the next day. The smell, well it's just amazing, very rich smelling resinous scent. The price point is just too high. If there would be a very close clone I would instantly get it, but the only one I smelled that comes close to this is Incense 01 like 50% close, but you can tell the quality difference, Purpose is extremely well blended and smooth. Anyways overall as a scent 10/10. Would i buy it? If it was maybe 200€ maybe.

nothing like I smelled before, just wow Creamy, spicy, mysterious and yet not really offensive. Couldn’t name any notes at first because of how perfectly it all blends into refined, magnetic and very deep scent

Mysterious and dark but still very smooth, soothing and musky in the dry down. Absolutely worth the price if you buy from discounters and not from retail.

Amouage have this ability to construct these huge cinematic masterpieces that change how people view fragrance. Both Purposes are like that. Purpose 50 is like Ben Hur, Gladiator, Spartacus and The Odyssey all rolled into one. These are not films you can watch every day in the same way that Purpose 50 is never going to be a daily wearer. But some days you don't want Sleepless In Seattle or Despicable Me. Some days you need that epic, timeless historical story with the slow motion action sequences, backlit smoke, masterful camerawork, soaring score and acting you never get tired of marvelling of. It is a shame Amouage already has a fragrance called Epic because I cannot think of a better name for Purpose 50 than that. As with all great fragrances it is less about what it smells like that characterises it, but more about how it feels to wear it. Simplistically, it is similar to incense powerhouse Purpose but with less of the green aromatics and camphor and more complex notes with spices and a little bit of vanilla. They are similar in towering profile but do not smell much alike. When you walk into the board room and crouch down to run some figurative sand through your fingers in front of the entire ExCo with a very familiar Hans Zimmer soundtrack playing loudly on your phone. When your boss asks you for your annual performance appraisal stating what you think of him and his company, and you tell him with an intense look of pure Roman steel... "I am Maximus Decimus Meridius. Father to a murdered son and husband to a murdered wife. And in this life or the next, I shall have my revenge." When you are getting on the sweaty, packed Tube and you wonder what it would be like to ride a horse and wear armour and a helmet to work instead. That is the vibe. That is what Purpose 50 feels like. Three Word Summary: I AM SPARTACUS Layering combination: there is no purpose layering Purpose 50. It is far too epic. Outfit suggestion: Rolled steel chest plate, with matching adorned steel gauntlets. Leather jerkin. Balenciaga sandals. Short sword in a scabbard (watch out for the frost, sometimes it makes the blade stick...) and a thick, squared oak shield. Brass crested helmet by Louis Vuitton. Should make your morning walk to Cafe Nero a bit more lively. Scent - 10/10 Sillage - 10/10 Drydown - 10/10 Bottle - 8/10 Performance - 10/10 48/50

I got samplers of Purpose and Purpose 50. Purpose 50 s a much more diverse, smooth, vanilla version of Purpose. Could just be my nose, but besides from a bit of the pimento and pepper in the top note, Purpose was just straight frankincense and was very powerful, not for me at all. I go to an orthodox church, that's exactly what I smelt like for 10hrs after 1 spray and the sillage was crazy. Purpose 50 however, I actually can smell the other top notes initially, along with the heart and base notes, and the vanilla really makes the scent much more enjoyable. It's a very unique scent and with Purpose 50 it's actually manageable and could definitely be enjoyable in the right setting. But this is still very incense heavy.

This fragrance is everything I will ever need in my life. I want my coffin to smell like this juice. I want my curtains, my bed, my walls, and my floors to be drenched in this scent.It is insane, captivating, hypnotic, and utterly outclasses everything and everyone. It’s the scent of Gods—but the ones we’ve forgotten, the ones we don’t even know. This is what it smells like inside their temple: an overpowering, slightly sweet, citrusy incense, as noble as gemstones we have yet to discover.My one and only treasure. My life changed, and I changed with it the moment I bought this fragrance. I cannot stop sniffing myself. It's an absolute beast when it comes to longevity and projection. I feel like a God.

After sampling and ordering decants of Purpose 50 for so many times for almost 8-9 months due to not have the money to buy it yet, i finally pulled the trigger! Let me try my best to keep the review compact and impactful! Smell 10/10 For me this was love at first sight the first time i put my nose on it at a skins boutique in the Netherlands. It has this sweet, soapy and spicy vibe to it and the drydown is too die for, especially the akigalawood + vanilla combo. I know that fragrance is subjective, so i would advice you to get a sample or decant to test it. Longevity & sillage10/10 You don't have to worry when it comes to longevity and sillage, trust me on that one! For that price point it better perform and Quentin Bisch has a good reputation when it comes to making fragrances last. I went to a wedding wearing my suit and sprayed this at 11:30 leaving home. I came back home 13/14 hours later and could still smell it, gotten me many compliments. Someone asked me if i just sprayed a perfume when i want to the bathroom, lol. This thing won't come off your skin and clothing. Becareful with the sprays, max 3-4 will do the work. Anything more than that is just a death sentence for those around you. Packaging and bottle 9/10 Solid package and premium feel. Bottle feels good in the hand and the details on it is fantastic. Price 5/10 This is is the only downside of Amouage fragrances in general. It is expensive here in the Netherlands, costing €510. If it was around €300 max, this would have been more acceptable imo - still a heavy pricetag tho. Who is this fragrance for? (3 important reasons) 1. Someone who wants to standout and smell unique. There is no other fragrance that smells like this imo. I have tried the supposed "dupe" of P50, which was Assaf Tobocca Jam 50. It doesn't come close in my respectful opinion. 2. A gentleman who dresses up. This scent profile really suits formal/special occasions where you want to standout like a wedding, funeral, church, dinner. 3. A person that cares about versatility! I know it sounds strange to mention Purpose 50 as a versatile fragrance, but the scent profile makes it suitable for every season imo. Yes i's powerful! Yes it's got the perfomance & sillage! But the drydown makes it so nice, allowing it to fit every season. If you have any questions regarding this fragrance, don't hesistate to ask. Thank you! 😄

Smells like inside an Orthodox church during service. Not sure why this is a perfume.

To my nose this is a massive, unrelenting frankincense bomb. One spray, 12 hours later, is more pervasive and room filling than 3 sprays of (say) Alexandria II is at time of application. I don't doubt that the other listed notes exist but for my nose it's 100% frankincense (and for any new fragheads reading this who may not know what that smells like, it's a similar aromatic, pungent note you find with eucalyptus, or menthol, or balsam. Not exactly that scent but the same type of feel).

People are so dramatic. This is nowhere near as strong or polarizing as people make it out to be. It smells like a more masculine-leaning counterpart to Guidance 46, so it’s quite enjoyable. Just don’t go crazy with the sprays; it’s a strong fragrance that works best with some restraint. Outlands is exponentially stronger than this, so I’m not sure why everyone makes such a fuss about this one. This is a fragrance that must be smelled in the air. It doesn’t smell super pleasant up close, but the trail is amazing. To enjoy this fragrance properly, I’d highly recommend NO MORE than 2 sprays for casual wear and NO MORE than 3 sprays when going out.

Dense. Foggy. Earthy. Foresty. Damp. This fragrance is heavy. It’s green and massively woody. The base is that classic resinous smoky base we expect from Amouage. The opening is a sharp aromatic green hit. It’s actually a bit fresher to me than the OG purpose. Performance and projection massive of course. Tbh - I’d never wear this. But I can appreciate it.

Purpose 50 hits me in two stages in a matter of a few seconds: first I get a wide, deep, mossy, smokey atmosphere... Gray skies over a grassy hill after rain. What emotion. This is followed by a zingy citrus or spice that feels like discovery. Suddenly uplifting. This quick transition is pretty dense, like storytelling. It's a rush of emotions. I feel like I've discovered something I need to process, which I might not be capable of wearing yet. I really wasn't expecting such depth. 10/10

Purpose 50 by Quentin Bisch for Amouage....where do I begin...or how do I begin? This is a beautiful enigmatic fragrance. An otherworldly, martian scent that my brain can hardly comprehend. A clean and simultaneously daring scent profile. Deeply polarizing from the striking contrast of community reviews. How can something with a relatively simple note breakdown seem to light up my olfactory bulb with immeasurable wattage. In my humble opinion this is a Quentin Bisch masterpiece.
