Quorum

Fragrantica, Quorum was released in 1982, not 1981. Just sayin'. I picked up a brand new bottle of this after being away from it for 15 years. The bottle I bought back in 2010 was fine, but suffered from a formula issue that eventually forced me to toss it. The overall gist was the exact same as the new stuff—fermented tobacco leaves, patchouli, pine resins, labdanum, garrigue—but the citrus was this really bad synthetic grapefruit that I think Puig was hoping would make Quorum appeal to Millennials. Early on in the use of the bottle, that grapefruit note was nothing amazing but it was fine. As the fragrance aged in the bottle, it grew more dominant and stuck out like a sore thumb, ruining my enjoyment of the composition as a whole. Fast forward to my new bottle, and the reformulation of Quorum is really something to behold. Gone is the crappy grapefruit, replaced with what Puig always intended it to have: bergamot and orange. Natural bergamot and orange. Fully natural citrus. The 1st material in the fragrance compound, however, is patchouli. It turns out, Quorum was always built on top of a massive patchouli note, and it too is natural here. Add to that some natural clove, a clever combo of synthetics for the tobacco, evergreen resins, natural jasmine oil, natural ylang oil, and a few other naturals with a light smattering of synthetics to flesh out the grassier notes (coumarin, et al.), and voila! A new and improved Quorum that smells sparkly, funky, sweaty, woody, a little green, a little terrestrial. Not quite as potent as it used to be, but man it smells great. I will be keeping this bottle until it's empty.

The Masterpiece powerhouse of the 80s My Story: Back in the 80s while everyone has only maybe 2 perfumes and you can recognised that person a 1 Km away from his sillage, Quorum represented the bold, mature, self confident the boss of the bosses back in the 80s. Is very agressive openning, just 2 sprays and your whole room while smell for hours. Quorum is far from the man wildness that Drakkar represent o la elegancia de Azzaro pour homme, is a complex distintic alpha male boss that loudly say "I am here, follow my orders". Is a real man in a though world. Honestly, I smelled back after many years, it was a classic tester in all the department stores in Spain at that time, I keep grabbed that scent and I wanted to have my flashback of my early days. I bought with confidence but same as Drakkar Noir, the first time was like "meeehhh, wrong move". Is extremely strong, is like if you enter in a smoking room, is quite shocking but after the drydown is when you feel the power of this amazing parfume. Is remind me so bad to Loewe Esencia, One Show Man and Massimo Dutti edt(discontinued).Is dark, perfect for a Winter season when really shines in day and night time specially in raining days is perfectly match, will blow up your brain, but CAREFUL please, is not for everyone, if you have confidence avoiding influencers telling what to wear, man this is for you, a relic from the past must to be in your wardrove. Quorum is the perfect definition of powerhouse in the 80s. *To Millennials and Z generations: Hmm, how to begin? It's a perfume with a lot of personality, very strong, and the complete opposite of the commercial garbage that's come from the desert and has unfortunately become so fashionable lately. It's a perfume that smells like a serious, distinctive man, one who wants to project his authority and isn't intimidated by new trends. It's classic, timeless, quite aggressive and bold, preferably for people who don't grovel before fads or pretend to be gangsters. If you're a fan of Lattafa, Armaf, and similar trash, you'd better leave. Your opinion doesn't count and isn't taken seriously. Stay in your Disney world, smelling like vanilla all day, and leave Quorum alone. Listening to journey while wearing this fragrance, Frontiers album !! The title cut!! I had this fragrance and that album when I was a freshman in highschool. I'm 57 today and I still like this fragrance!! Scent memory is a very real thing and love how fragrances can transport you to a special place in time ❣️. The 1980$ was different and I thank God that I'm still alive and free!! I don't get offended when someone calls me old because the goal is to die old not young!!

New fave, it's very sexy and masculine yet i found the floral scents to linger on my skin, which i love! while it still noticeably maintains the pine and incense notes wonderfully. it smells more of the sandalwood snd carroway on a paper. I love the oakmoss and tobacco and leather notes too it's all blended in a captivating way using the amber and initial uniting citrus smells that i admittedly did not notice very much at first! really complex and again sexy and masculine!!!! i am 27 male and just now getting more interested in designer scents! :) 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I can see from the reviews it doesn't sit well will the younger generation. For old fogies like me it's awesome. It's been around forever. It's quite a powerful scent with great longevity. Loads of compliments like "you smell so clean and fresh as if you've just stepped out of a shower". Quorum Silver is another contender. It's been discontinued so stock up if your a fan of that too. Sybaris was my favourite Puig scent of all time. Why on earth was it discontinued. Wish they would reintroduce it. Puig such a great name in mens fragrances.

Bruh.. what even is this 😤 I sprayed this on some fabric and at first it smelled like a bunch of herbs and spices from your kitchen spice rack had fallen into a strong fragrance from the 80s, and I was like, OK that’s a bit much, but at least it’s a masculine fragrance, maybe I’ll give it some time. I came back to smell it several hours later, and I kid you not, it smelled like old high school gym shorts that have been in your locker for way too long 😂 No, no, tell me this wasn’t designed to smell like this on the dry down.. LOL

Less soapy-piny than Paco Rabanne Pour Homme and less tobacco heavy than Polo Green, Quorum is surprisingly a little more subtle than these two legends when it comes to blending its main notes. It's no less potent though, and definitely no less masculine. All in all a fantastic classic manly scent that can be worn all year, and an absolute steal for the price.

This is a decent priced vintage thats easily obtainable. Its a gentlem's scent where it keeps you in a scent bubble, but wont fill a room. It has that nice masculine fougere vibe thats rather soapy and clean. Ill probably get a big bottle. I got a 30ml for cheap and its early 2000s. Performance is decent. I got about 4 hours, but the animalics will last until you scrub it off the skin. 8.25

Grabbed this today from TKMaxx for just £10. Maybe it's just me but this one comes out sweet on my skin once it dries down - must mean it pairs well on me! I can definitely detect a slight ashtray vibe in there somewhere however, which is blanketed by a lot of aromatics, pine and mossiness... but there's a mild, sweet soapiness in there too that reveals itself after a few minutes. I don't love it however and I think One Man Show is markedly better as a fresh pine fragrance which is less dirty, more animalic but I can see the appeal for those who have actual hair on their chests and want to break away from the fresh blue scent profiles and the oudy, sweet fragrances we find being trendy lately. This stuff requires some cojones to wear! ;) Would give it a 6.5/10 for my personal preference

I can't belive it. After owning 50+ fragrances, and among them is One Man Show, Aramis, etc.. I have to say this is acctually an 80s masterpiece that is on the LIGHTER and FRIENDLIER side!

Close my eyes, and imagine a Candlelit church, and inscents. Which I love. Classic. Masculine.

An oldschool working class masculine cologne. You smoke a pipe, not cigarettes. You'd never start a fight but you'd win it. Rough gentleman.

Based on the comments i thought this would smell super dated, but is not. Ageless, mature and classy. This should not be that cheap. I love it.

Absolute noir in a bottle. Three perfumers, legendary in their internal influence, joined forces in their own Quorum to create something meant to last for decades. I wasn’t there to witness it, but I can almost feel it: the spark and the madness of Mateu forming the core of the fragrance, gradually shaped like a raw stone by the flawless craftsmanship of the jeweler Benaïm, and finally set into the dark, guilloché, blackened ring crafted by Gavarry — destined for success. And yet, to me, the most important thing about this fragrance is that, despite its grotesque and phantasmagorical nature, it is not about perfection. The minds behind it were not trying to tell another tale of heroes and villains, of good triumphing over evil. I love powerhouses, but to me this is just slightly above average. No doubt its extremly masculine, it may be a bit too dark for me. Does smell very natural. Very herbal. Very inexpensive. I dont get great performance with it.

If the opening ever comes across as reminiscent of an old smokers B.O., it will pass soon. Worth owning.

Fresh and dirty at the same time. Citrus and herbal notes to start, then strong floral notes which contrast the smoky oak moss base note. I appreciate its boldness in its masculinity, it's unapologetic, knows what it is. The embodiment of a sleazy used car salesman with a lot of body hair and confidence. Drakkar's Older Sister though i will say this scent is different when i smell it off my body vs handkerchief My first though while putting my nose on Quorum was how un70’s it was/is (I was under the impression that it was a 70s cologne – maybe because I was still in the Pierre Cardin state of mind!) Yes, Quorum is something else entirely though I can’t say it quintessential 80’s either No brown poly suits and fat ties here. Quorum is more feminine. Still light but slightly husky A mature smokers voice. It’s Pierre Cardin’s wife! Towards the end I start to get the foreshadow of Drakkar (it was hiding under all that flower and bath bubbles. The Drakkar is faint (a while later I spray my wrist again) Lemon Lime. There is a slight cheapness to it Its not expensive Soap The top is very bright and light. He finds the bottle. Takes it up to his nose (smells the cap) then sprays it into the air then he sprays it on the palm of his hand Feels it Then he goes to wash his hands soapy water He brings his hand to his nose to see if he can still smell the scent of perfume It is just the soap He walks away and no one knows ---------------- Observation ------------ I notice that when I spray it on my wrist the drakkar isn’t as obvious but on cloth it is. I like it but not in love with quorum. But because it is a classic I’ll give it a 6. It is not striking No memories No real impression Decent imagery is inspired Its not super unique A good mate for Drakkar Definitely a barbershop scent Overall I think I might have passed on this scent to my collection. It is too similar to Drakkar (which came shortly after?) It’s like Guy L. took Quorum’s afterthought and amped it up a few notches.

This fragrance is very good. Some have compared this to Polo and although it is similar, I like it much better. It is smokier, but not like cigarette smoke to me. I would rate it 8/10 vs. Polo at 6/10.

I'm actually starting to like this one. I've owned a 30ml of the current version for 2 or 3 years, and barely worn it, whilst working my way through several other 80's & 90's green fragrances. I've been wearing Lomani PH with disappointment this week (smells good, performs terribly) and decided to revisit Quorum. Boy is it a good antidote - this thing is all backbone; sharp with tarry pine bark and snapped needles, scorched Mediterranean pine cones and bitter green herbs. If vintage heads are to be believed, the thin-ness of the current Quorum dry-down is due to the removal/substitution of oakmoss, but I'm ok with it.

Polo green if it were blue collar.

Very classic belonged to the family of aramis, azzaro,old givenchy...... Barber shop vibe doing good job for the cheap price won't be accepted in the modern society you can only wear it if you date old women or get together with your very old friends.

It smells like your really Italian grandpa's leather car that he uses to smoke pipe tobacco in that has a bit of a mold problem. Honestly, I love it for what it is.

Not a nice fragrance at all… i try to be relatively open minded with all fragrances, knowing it’s generally someone’s thing, but I just can’t understand why you would wear this. It smells like an old man who has been smoking. If you like it, that’s ok, but I wouldn’t recommend, and please don’t blind buy!!!

Bought this to try it out. I would compare it to Paco Rabanne Pour Homme in the green bottle. Both of these were blind buys. The biggest difference between the two to me is that this one has a strong tobacco smell. I hate the smell of cigarettes and tobacco, so I don’t think I will buy this one again. The Paco Rabanne PH is fantastic and a new favorite! I much prefer that one to this scent although they smell similar. So, if you like tobacco, I think you will like this. If you don’t like tobacco or cigarettes, then I recommend you pass on this one. Update: This scent is growing on me even though I still dislike the strong tobacco. I was surprised that I got complimented on it yesterday. So I’m going to say that this bottle is worth trying, especially if you can find it on sale. I would consider buying it again. I’m enjoying the uniqueness of it and the low cost.
