Smooth and soapy take on Anataeus in the opening!! Powdery smooth masculine leather in the drydown is just so freaking addictive. Very easy to wear and super likeable DNA. Reminds me of the leatheryness in Anataeus/Interlude black iris.

Can anyone tell me if Aramis Classic is still in production? The 240ml size is no longer available, and the 110ml size is no longer easy to find on the secondary market. Something can be found, but at high prices. I'm waiting for good news from North American users. Bernard Chant RIP

My uncle used to wear this in the heat of Costa Rica ( no such thing as winter here) all the time. LOL I have great memories of him and this cologne back in the late 80s /early 90s as a kid. NUCLEAR projection, not sure about the new reformulation. Years have gone and I can still remember the smell of this potent juice when I was just a boy.

The UK has been getting some good weather of late and thought I would try someone of my 80s frags. This, current formulation, hands down smells better in the heat than it ever should.

I've been collecting cologne for a while now and very seasoned in it, but here lately I've been gravitating towards the older stuff and man I'm genuinely surprised how good this is! 10/10.

Its probably the best barbershop fragrance. Its a timeless masterpiece, suitable for mature men (30+). I am getting alot of oakmoss & aldehydes, some patchouli and aldehydes. Loving every whiff.

I avoid anything hyper-masculine, so this was a risky blind buy. Based on what I've read, this is one of THE defining hyper-masculine fragrances. I find it to actually be a simple, straight-forward oak moss scent, with a touch of tobacco hovering beneath. It doesn't strike me as particularly old-fashioned, either - I would say it's timeless. Projection and strength is solid, not overwhelming. The version I have is the current formulation.

This was one of Freddie Mercury’s favorite fragrances. People around him said he always wore Aramis or Lagerfeld Cologne. During the Live Aid concert in 1985, he used a large amount of Lagerfeld. The audience could smell the fragrance from the stage.

this is a fantastic perfume. I am not in the habit of wearing gents' perfumes (I give them to my straight twinbrother). and this flacon he inadvertantly left. I did spritzed some men's colognes at sparse moments. for example Creeds Bois du Portugal and Royal Mayfair and Peau d'Espagne from Santa Maria Novella are great perfumes. the last one with civet, a note both my brother and me love. strangely he has the same taste qua perfume for the male ones, I have, for their female counterparts. so all the 1980's hookers of Poison, Giorgio, Obsession, Coco, Knowing, Gem, Nahéma I love. but this can be the explicative aspect of why I now sit in a clôche of Aramis and do not mind to be inside it. I have an old taste, started my 'perfume career' in 1974. so the in-your-face start of Aramis I am well known with and LOVE it. this EDT makes me think about Knowing, Youth Dew, l'Eau du Soir de Sisley. these are all, heavy on the oak-moss. when you see the note bar of Aramis, so dark, dark greens, dark browns, which is very comparable with the bar of Cabochard, Jolie Madame de Balmain, Ivoire de Balmain, Dusita's le Sillage Blanc and Piguet's Bandit. but why then weren't Bois du Portugal, Royal Mayfair and Peau d'Espagne not so tempting for me to go outdoor to my work. well the boundaries aren't so thick and Staasi like. but if it is totally masculin, it is more for my brother. it has to possess, (let's say) some femininity in it. but I don't know if Aramis truly has that. it is an ingenuous perfume with herbs, spices, resins, patchouli, oakmoss and orris. strangely I am not such connaisseur's perfume lover. so the gardenia, jasmine, orris and clover I was expected to pick out out of the dense smoky, mossy, woody underbelly I can not identify. but I learned they do play a strong role and enrich the outspoken accords. while in themselves they are also power accords. in each case, Aramis was a fantastic discovery and I have known it from the 1970s (1960s even) (I am from 1957) it is today the first time I ever tried it. lingering in some time I thought strongly about Knowing, Sisley's Eau du Soir, and I love oud-rose perfumes with which Aramis has in common the outerwordly projection and longitude. but it is also an interesting fougere. the coumarin aspect of Fougeres I smelled when biking to work and I came along just mown grasslands (with the wild herbs in them). density is what I love also. I will not going to wear gentlemen's scents anytime near, but if I have to pick some out, they are the aforementioned but in the first place Aramis.

Second I put this on I got really cold and pissed myself. Good stuff if you ask me. It's the perfect addition to my Thruple

Middle-aged fit mature man with a hot wife vibes. Nobody will compliment you. Not even your hot wife. Smells like you don't need a compliment.

I love old school fragrances but when I smelled this, it is extremely unpleasant, it stinks badly.

My son recently returned some things he'd been borrowing, one of which was a bottle of Hermès Bel Ami, a composition that has many features in common with Aramis... Indeed, it can read as 'Aramis with better materials', in somewhat the same way that Guerlain Heritage EDT may resemble a dryer, tighter Davidoff Zino. Anyway, I have a lot of respect for Bel Ami, but I have to admit that I prefer wearing Aramis. There is something so warm and agreeable about it, and, despite its low price tag, it remains a well-made fragrance. I've received compliments on this from people (something that I don't experience all that often), even from my wife, who objectively is not a fan of vintage woody-spicy compositions. This and Paco Rabanne Pour Homme are, despite being on the cheaper end of what I own, fragrances I will always not only have in my collection, but wear over and over again with attention and appreciation. A few quick points: 1. It's not discontinued. Just go to the site, and it's right there. You can buy this stuff anywhere. 2. There is no coconut in this fragrance. It should read as castoreum, which is clearly detectable (in synthetic form, anyway) in this composition. A weird Fragrantica error that shows up on several other pages on this site (see Santos de Cartier, among others.) Please fix this, Fragrantica. 3. This fragrance has a surprising amount of vetiver. I was so distracted by the leather accord, it didn't hit me that vetiver plays an important role in the dry, green aspects of this fragrance. Bryan Ross underscored this in his review, and, though I don't agree with his assertion that the fragrance is nothing but bone-dry woody leather (I think he misses the myrrh), I'd say he's absolutely right. Now that I've noticed it, I can't not see it. 4. This fragrance *will* bend your nose. If you are repulsed, give it a bit of time. Leather chypres for men aren't all that common any more, so your frame of reference may be at least part of the issue. Let it work on you. 5. This stuff really does deepen with age. Some fragrances seem to more than others, but every bottle of Amaris I've word from the past 20 years or so has smelled the same after a few months.

This piece of garbage that is called cologne is so terrible. Who decides to put leather and bergamot in the same fragance. It smells like if you spilled aftershave on a leather coat. It is so terrible dont ever buy this there is so many other options dont make anyone suffer by wearing this.

Get your hands on the vintage one called Aramis cologne, not Aramis edt, because the edt isnt good. The edt does smell like cabochard. But the Aramis cologne is way better, stronger , sharper, but in a more masculine way and yes it smells more animalic and more incensey I doubt there is coconut in here, at least not in the vintage juice

Lots of leather and aldehydes. I feel bad for not liking this one. It smells like the elderly from my childhood, probably because that’s what everyone really wore in those days. I already sent my bottle down the road. Nothing was exceptionally wrong with it. Just wasn’t my cup of tea. I suspect the current reformulation is lacking. In current formulations, I prefer Dunhill for Men, Gentleman ‘74, and Bel Ami.

You Become Most Powerful Man suddenly on its first Spray. Its not a Parfum but a Masculinity Statement which buries Feminism for as long as it lingers on you

This fragrance smells pleasant, lasts a whole, projects decently, and is very affordable. So it’s hard to complain about. It’s a safe way to spend $30 but this is something cheap to get your dad who isn’t really into scents. Not worth it for a collector.

Coconut! You're jokin int ya!?

As a connoisseur of more classic-smelling fragrances, it is only natural that someone such as myself would have stumbled upon this cologne sooner or later. Well, I am sure glad that I have stumbled upon it most recently, because I have come here to save you, the seemingly unknowing reader, from the trouble of purchasing this once glorified slop of a fragrance. If you dig far enough, you may discover reviews that discuss the putrid reformulation of the original Aramis cologne line. I cannot say that I have smelled the original, but I can say that something in this current issuing of cologne does not smell right. To anyone. The opening notes are polarizing, and you may assume that it doesn't stick, but guess what it does: exactly that. Not only will those around you notice the terrible draft of a nose-blinding sickness entombing them to where they wish could be six feet under, but those close to you will also collectively decide to either disown you, divorce you, or place you in a retirement home, all depending on your age and situation. I would not recommend this to anyone, regardless of whether you enjoy grandpa-scents or not, because this is NOT a grandpa-scented cologne in any manner at all. This is purely an atrocity to mankind.

Back in the day-- I would have considered this a "stinky" . Now everything has changed and I have great admiration for "old school" fragrances. (Especially when some "niche" houses go back and steal old recipes , Clive Christian!). HAPPILY the old school Aramis original and Tuscany turn up at my flea market on a regular basis for $5.00 to $10.00 or so! Right now I'm huffing on the aerosol rubberized bottle from probably when The Carpenters and Tony Orlando & Dawn were hits on the radio. Yes- this stuff used to make me vomit; but now I feel like I am discovering a relic in the raw. (When I am on line at the bank or post office-- I can only WONDER what people are thinking / smelling of me. LOL ) Tuscany is way better by the way ! I cannot give this a grade ; it would be like grading a McDonalds hamburger.

The measure of a man. This is what my father used to wear when I was a child, so it has great nostalgia for me. However, I also love to wear the fragrance. It radiates masculinity in every way.

I have a stupidly hectic 72hr ahead of me and need some old school cool. Aramis for Men is a 1966 throwback, before we had to worry about digital calendars, social media, or Internet-enabled toasters refusing to work due to a software update. The kick in the open is pure James Dean class. Aldehydic bergamot, artemisia, and a bitter green note dominant floral open says yeah, this is a not going to be your trendy sweet vanilla teenage boy frag. In the heart it softens, taking on a spicy powdery slightly floral-sweet patchouli. The middle transitions relatively quickly though to the primary reason I love Aramis, which is a wonderfully rugged relaxed masculine base. It's huge with oakmoss and leather for me, musky, woody, retaining an almost incense smoke background from the artemisia and myrrh interaction. Aramis is calm, cool, and collected. Just don't wear it in a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder.

Aramis. This is what my father and uncle used to wear when I was a kid. Makes me think of Christmas and my Grandmas. Super masculine. My favorite part are the sparkling aldehydes. I even remember my Father gave me an aerosol spray of it. I remember getting the aftershave and eau de toilette gift set of it. My father warned me not to wear them both together. I did anyways, and I offended a lady at work, said something like she couldnt breathe or something. Powerful, masculine stuff.
