Having a bit of a cull and this hasn't made the cut... I have a 50ml if any one is interested (uk).
Have one for purchase/trade located Australia!😎
This was one of the first big girl scents I purchased, i liked it because it smelt clean and sophisticated with those bitter notes. Agree with other reviewers it has that cucumber quality. The bitter notes also reminded me of tea. It was green, uplifting citrus-y, and did not smell sweet to me at all. I wore it daily for almost a year, but eventually stopped as I eventually found the pea note to be too 'in my nose' and gave me a headache. I don't know if that is just a part of aging, or my tastes changing. It will always be a nostalgic one for me.
I come here frequently to see if any has found a new dupe of this & to reminisce about this lovely tragically discontinued fragrance, my all time favorite scent ever. I’ve found a few fragrances that have that cedary powdery woodsy green mossy fresh rain thing that I’m chasing going on but they’re just not quite right. They’re usually a little off, have some note that I don’t care for, a little too strong, or too masculine on me (like Le Labo Santall 33, Glossier You, Billie Eilish Your turn). This was a softer feminine version of that fresh woodsy green I like. I keep hoping Balenciaga will revive her. Had I known it would be discontinued I would’ve ordered more than just two roller balls back in the day, I only have a teeny tiny bit left of one roller ball. Come on Balenciaga, give us our green lady back 😭 Edit: back again to say I bough a bottle of Katy Perry Indi because it’s reported to smell like this, & it’s alright. Not B, but I see the similarities. It is discontinued, but for now there are plenty of bottles available for very cheap on resale sites. I’ve been looking to buy some of the other fragrances listed above that are reported to smell like this but I’m finding that a lot of them are also discontinued 😭. The ones I’ve tried to find so far are: Zara Accord No 3 Woody Tommy Hilfiger - The girl DSQUARED2 - she wood velvet forest wood Byredo - Byredo All of these are discontinued and hard to find. Good luck.
The most missed perfume ever. We cannot understand why it was deleted. One of the greats...
this was one of the weirdest fragrances I ever owned. it was really safe to wear for work. I'd gotten the full size. one of my coworkers said "they scammed you, claiming you bought a fragrance. this smells like nothing" indeed, this smelled like slightly sweet air with a hint of cucumber. like cucumber water if it was turned into a sllliiiightly sweet scent. air. heavily air. and %20 cucumber water. I also felt like I was deceiving myself, making myself believe I was wearing anything. it was a funny experience. but I definitely finished the whole bottle because it was impossible to come off as offensive to others when you are wearing "slightly sweet, cucumber tasting air" anyway.
I found this in the back of my collection. whoa! did not know that this was a sought after perfume!! And it is about 60% full. This is one of those pleasant surprises when you aren't looking. To trade or not to trade, that is the question . . . .
This is what i want all green fragrances to be. I’ve only ever had it in roller ball form, and now that it has been discontinued, there is no hope of getting more. Some may disagree, but i think there are a few similar fragrances in spirit: Jardin du Poete by Eau D'Italie Philosykos by Diptyque Watermelons by Shay & Blue Perhaps a spritz of each behind each of your three knees?
I received a small vial of this from a trusted eBay seller. As soon as I sniffed it immediately reminded me of Nosferatu by Heretic. If your looking for this discontinued gem, try Nosferatu.
Balenciaga B. Balenciaga is a youthful clean iris, watery green violet, watermelon jolly rancher, and fresh musky soap. I definitely get cedar but it's clean and balancing. This honestly smells like a high-end natural shampoo. Performance isn't bad either for a freshie; light moderate.
I need her back in my life. Looking for her, if you have it and wish to trade or sell, DM me c:
I didn't get a chance to smell this, and likely won't as it is discontinued, but it always comes up as a recommended fragrance for me due to the notes. The fragrance 'Kildonan' by Arran Aromatics has almost exactly the same notes if anyone is looking for a similar scent profile. Kildonan isn't listed on Fragrantia's database, but it is a beautiful perfume - and a fairly recent release by Arran Aromatics. A soft, natural, green fragrance.
To me this smells like sappy fig
If you’re missing this try Mathilde M. Figuier Dolce, smells identical. They sell it as a home fragrance but for 20€ I cannot complain.
This perfume *is* Balenciaga. Not a typical feminine floral, it's a little sweet, but mostly serious. It smells green and cool and haute. I thought it smelled even a little metallic, shiny, polished. It smells competent. EDIT: Desperate for a replacement, I bought a sample of Heretic Nosferatu as recommended above and it is NOT a good replacement at all. Nosferatu smells like dust, rubber, and metal and STINKS like a hot car -- the smell that gives you motion sickness. It smells nothing like Balenciaga B but it does succeed at smelling like an undead rotting corpse. Balenciaga B smells at first tart and green and then settles down to a light fresh cool greenness like a freshly picked sugar snap pea. It is a bit more sour than I remember but they are for certain nothing alike.
This perfume kick-started my genuine interest and curiosity in the world of olfaction. I remember the day I bought it. It was around 6 years ago and I was out by myself in a nearby city. I had some pocket money that I planned to spend on something nice. I wandered into a large chemist, that stocked a nice selection of perfumes. For whatever reason, this is the first one that drew my attention. Perhaps it was the gorgeous frosted glass bottle. I sprayed the tester and immediately adored it. I had never smelt anything like it before. I stood there for quite some time, sniffing my wrist and feeling all sorts of feelings. They were selling 2 different sizes of the perfume; I can’t remember the ml exactly, but both of them were on sale. I contemplated which one to buy, but ended up deciding on the smaller, cheaper one. I was delighted. Fast forward 5 years, I realised I had almost used it all up and without any second thought, I knew I needed a second bottle. I googled it and couldn’t see it for sale anywhere online. I quickly learnt that it had been discontinued… my heart dropped. Strangely enough, the chemist store where I bought the perfume had also disappeared. It hadn’t even been renovated into something else, it was just gone. I felt so frustrated and upset. I rarely left the house without adorning myself with the fragrance. I emailed Balenciaga this big heartfelt essay begging them to bring it back (lol) and then desperately began searching for a dupe or similar fragrance. This lead me to wanting to find out the individual notes of the perfume; something I had never done before. This also inevitably lead me to discovering this platform, Fragrantica. Up until that point, I had always just bought or been gifted perfumes based off of a ‘ooh i like that’ or ‘nope i don’t like that’ basis. I had never even wondered what makes up a perfume. I would walk into mainstream retailers and often just blind buy a scent often based solely on the packaging. Perfume to me was simply just a bottle of something you’d spray on yourself before leaving the house to smell good. Nothing more nothing less. I wrote down each note that makes up B. Balenciaga and began my mission of trying to find something as similiar to it as possible. I went into stores like Boots, Debenhams and Superdrug and presented the list to the staff members, who were rarely any help of course. They would often just mindlessly hand me a bottle of something or try to market a new release to me. Anyway, the first fragrance I smelt that made my eyes light up was Santal Blanc by Van Cleef. It is certainly similar to B, but instead of the green freshness of the pea and lily of the valley, it has a citrus freshness from the mandarin. What makes them smell alike is their addictive creaminess, and of course the hint of violet. This was enough for me, so a few months later I bought a bottle of it. I still feel remorseful for not buying the larger bottle of it in the store that day. Bottles of it now sell for up to thousands of euro now, so I doubt I will ever get my hands on it again. I still have about 1/8th of the liquid left in the bottle. It sits alone on top of my bookshelf, where it will stay as a cherished, prized possession. The fact that it was discontinued is of course extremely significant. If it was still being produced and was readily available, it wouldn’t be half as meaningful to me, obviously. When something you love is no longer in your reach, you want it so much more just because you know that you can’t have it. I am grateful for this perfume, and I am also in a way glad that it was discontinued, because I know for sure that I wouldn’t be in the position that I am now in today otherwise. All good things must come to an end and an ending always leads to a new beginning. For me, the discontinuation of this perfume opened up a whole new world for me. I now have a passion for fragrance. Since undertaking the mission of finding a dupe and finding Santal Blanc midway through 2023, I have discovered dozens of niche brands, bought several discovery sets from some of these niche designers, and have found a small, niche fragrance boutique that is very close to where I currently live. I’ve realised how much experimentation, creativity and soul and story telling can be put into the making of a scent and that a perfume can be so much more than just a pretty bottle and a nice smell. My eyes, mind, heart and soul have been opened up. There is so so so so so much to learn and discover. I can’t wait to keep learning and discovering and see where this journey takes me. B. Balenciaga will remain close to my heart forever.
I love her, I miss her. Why did they take you away from us?
A very easy to wear scent. Bottle is incredible though, looks like frosted glass. scent is a nice clean linen fresh like scent almost with light greens. overall an 8.5/10, cant go wrong with this one.
Honestly, I purchased it because of the packaging and the classy attractive bottle, sniffed it but was so much into the bottle that didn't think about the scent too much but it's minimal and beautiful, unique and classy!
Willing to swap my backups—boxed and sealed 30ml and 75ml for any of the unicorns on my “want” shelf. CONUS.
i've been looking for a perfume that smells like this for ages. i hate that it's been discontinued.
Who could have ever thought that a pea note would be so good, so fresh, so crisp and chic? I still have my old worn bottle with missing cap and chipped corner with about 1/4 juice left; my little gem. This is such a y2k fragrance. Bring this back! Reminds me of Byredo Unamed.
I’ve been testing a bunch of fragrances lately and happened to test this and DS & Durga Debaser a few days apart. They’re sooo similar. Both are green and fresh, but I find B. lighter and more feminine (with an underlying muskiness) while Debaser is louder and more unisex. Debaser has this extra oomph—brighter, creamier, figgy, with more depth whereas B. is more subtle and understated. On some days, I prefer the scent of Debaser, on others, I prefer B. My skin / chemistry is especially finnicky when it comes to this particular juice, even in terms of longevity. The first few times when I tested it, it was incredibly hot and humid and it faded from my skin in no time. Another few times, it was still summertime but cooler, and lasted on me for a good 7-8 hours. There were times when it smelled fresh and green with the pea note more prominent whereas other times, the musk is more prominent. It's like playing roulette each time I spray it on--I'm still trying to figure it out. This juice is like a chameleon on me and I kinda like that. For those who are lamenting about the DC’d status of this scent, give Debaser a try. I also heard that Guerlain's Promenade des Anglais is a more flowery and powdery version of B. I have a decant coming my way and will update this review after testing.
I went to depth of internet to buy this perfume and luckily two people were selling it in my city. My mum loves this scent and she was quite upset that it has disappeared from the shelves. So I have found three bottles in the span of 6 months. She gave me the other bottle and I absolutely love it. It is not my usual scent as I love things that are gourmand, with vanilla and spices, chocolate, cherry etc. This is unusual for me. Definitely my day perfume for work, for a sunday morning, for gym and runs. It smells better the sweatier I get.
Tastes differ. I can understand that some people do not like this gem, I personally love it. It is feminine, fresh, green and uplifting without being boring citrusy, fruity or floral. Something different that is so satisfying. I prefer to wear this in late spring and early summer when the weather is already quite warm but the mornings (when you head up to work and spray yourself) are still a bit cool. Then this scent is simply sparkling and cheerful without getting too sour later the day, as the temperature is getting higher and you'll need it to stay fresh. Since Covid I'd been working from home and did not have so many occasions to wear it (also continued to widen my perfume wardrobe parallel) so now I am happy to have a 50 ml bottle still ca. 85-90% full when I had to learn it is dicontinued. It's a shame, I cannot remember something identical would ever came accross even though I have owned and tested quite a few hundreds of scents so far... Probably the closest dupe was She Wood Velvet Forest Wood from Dsquared, which is also discontinued.
My favourite female fragrance ever...and it's discontinued! WHY???
This is definitely an interesting and unique one, but I am growing to like it more. I can see having a place for it in my collection. At first spray there's a burst of green freshness that I couldn't put my finger on along with oak moss. I personally smell cucumber skin, but not having spent much of my time smelling peas, I'll take it. It certainly is some sort of fresh green vegetable scent. As it dries down, the green remains with a it of a sour note. Not bad sour like a dill pickle exactly but it is a gourmand sour. It later rounds down to a light floral musk and crisp greens that remains effervescent. Like if you bite this fragrance, it bites back. I know, it doesn't make sense to me either. This is what a peas commercial would smell like. It's early morning, dew still clinging on to the grass, and in slow motion you see someone snap a crisp pea pod and you can both smell and hear the snap as peas and fibres and droplets explode. That's this perfume. Maybe if they used violet instead of violet leaves, this would be less of a crisp green. So far still getting a bit of cucumber salad vibes, but not mad at it.
I dislike this fragrance so much. What I only sense is bitter pea and rotten hay.
I absolutely loved this. I never thought it'd be discontinued, so I only got a 1.7 oz which is now gone. That was years ago. Would love if they brought it back. It was fresh, simple, dewy. Fresh, but not a citrus. Feminine, but not a floral. Quite rare. Extremely rare in designer.
I love green, but this literally smelled just like peas. I can't get it out of my mind. How to make a fragrance smell exactly like peas, a pea plant, peas for dinner, peas out of a can. Kind of amazing, cannot imagine how people wear this!
