On the initial spray it has a strong sweet cherry smell which quickly goes away and leaves a strong woody scent with a touch of amber. It’s pretty masculine in the beginning but after an hour or so the woodiness dies down and leaves a nice amber smell. It only lasts maybe 2 or 3 hours though and fades quickly. Even though it has masculine qualities there’s that touch of amber and cherry that makes it unisex. I’m pretty sure if I asked my husband he would say it’s a cologne though. I quite like it but this is not a safe blind buy. I would probably layer a cherry perfume on top so that it leans more feminine and the cherry is more pronounced.
Banana Republic Dark Cherry and Amber opens with a cherry note that feels just shy of fully ripe, which makes it all the more convincing. The fruit is bright and immediately recognizable, but it is framed by a fresh stem-and-leaf nuance that suggests the living cherry itself rather than a confectionary interpretation. The effect is natural and tactile, with a subtle nod to the crisp sweetness of a real cherry variety rather than a synthetic berry accord. As the fragrance develops, the cherry becomes less literal and more imaginative. Cedar rises almost from the start, sharpening the composition and shaping a realistic stem-and-foliage effect that gives the fruit an elegant green edge. Beneath it, there is a faint sap-like mustiness that is difficult to assign to any one note, yet it remains present throughout the heart of the fragrance. It is unusual, slightly enigmatic, and very much intrigue-sparking. The floral facet is where the perfume begins to feel especially graceful. Freesia and cherry blossom create an airy pink-blossom accord that feels delicate and luminous. One could even argue that the two together hint at a soft peony-like effect, though the fragrance stops just short of fully becoming that. The cherry enriches the florals rather than overpowering them, lending the whole composition a sensual, silk-satin smoothness. In the drydown, the cherry turns denser and more textured, taking on a jam-like or concentrate-like quality without becoming sour or cloying. Amber and cedar then come together in a striking final accord, creating something unexpectedly refined: like an antique gilded object wrapped in velvet. It is an unorthodox but memorable finish, and it gives the fragrance a distinctive warmth and depth that sets it apart from more straightforward cherry scents
Layer this with Tobacco & Tonka Bean also from Banana Republic. Truly top level scent. Incredible layer mix. Niche quality and scent profile. It's insane that these are so good and unique for as cheap as they are.
It reminds me of Baccarat Rouge 540. I get a lot of compliments, but I do find that using more sprays helps, as it was originally quite intimate and weak. Maceration helps with this. It's definitely not medicinal or overly sweet or sickening. It's unisex and affordable, with a nice heavy bottle and a magnetic lid. Lasts a while, and projection was strong enough for friends and family to notice when I was closeby.
Got 30ml of this today for 12$ and I think its pretty darn good. Its not medicinal, its not too sweet, and its far from the candy like artificial aroma many of the other cherry fragrances might possess. Many say its a mostly feminine scent and with that I cannot agree. To me it seems dark enough to clearly fit into a unisex categorization, perhaps even leaning masculine once it dries down. It has no indicators of being a cheap fragrance and the performance is pretty good. If you slapped a edgy label on this, added a ornate topper to the bottle, threw it into a patinaed wooden box, and charged me 180$ for the 50ml Id feel as though I got a pretty cool niche cherry scent. Its sorta vampiresque. 7.32/10.
Great perfume with cherry. Feminine but not to sweet. Lovely
Really high quality blend. Seriously the Banana Republic scents are top of the line especially for the price point. Made with quality ingredients that just smell great. The cherry in this is really beautiful and not medicinal or too candy like in the smell, just a beautiful fresh dark cherry scent, after a little bit it drifts into a beautiful amber scent profile, not too sweet but has a bit of sweetness to it in the amber profile. A very beautiful scent that I could see layering with a bunch of stuff to create some unique scent profiles. If you see this at Burlington, hop on it. You won't be disappointed if you enjoy the smell of cherry and amber as the name implies. Beautifully blended and the longevity is fine. Everything does not need to be overpowering and nuclear. It's still plenty good and has a nice mature unisex profile. I really like this one, but I loved most all of the Banana Republic fragrances, you just can't beat the quality for the price.
After the 5 minutes opening to me it just smells like a cherry blossom tree that’s all it smells like so I definitely think it leans feminine. It’s not really that sexy or alluring (for males) whitch is something I look for and is a must have in a fragrance for me. Its projection is non existent as well tbh I don’t even think you can smell it unless you’re within 4 inches of me even after 5 sprays. Overall 3/10.
Mind Games french Defense is a clone of this. Very nice scent!
Very pretty dark cherry, like an older less gourmand sister to guess seductive red. I don't particularly get a strong amber note but I believe it's simply working with the cherry to balance the sweetness I get in seductive red. No medicinal quality to it in the slightest and almost has a cool moonlight-like accord that makes it mysterious and beautiful. Definitely feels quite feminine to me and I think it could be worn by an older woman or a younger woman trying to feel older. Not terribly complicated but somehow sophisticated in that lack of complexity, if maybe overdone.
This is what baccarat rouge should've been >:( 8/10
Cherry blossom opening with an amber and praline drydown. Beautiful and smooth profile, all well-balanced and well-blended. Feminine leaning and gorgeous scent. Good sillage and longitivity. The kind of scent that grows on people over time, I love perfumes with character arcs. But it's not "dark" by any means, falls in the oriental fruity-floral catagory.
On me it's just a very subtle cherry blossom skin scent with no silage or projection whatsoever. With my nose right up against it, I can barely smell it, even on freshly moisturized skin. It's gone from my clothes by the time it dries, and is gone in less than half an hour on my skin. It has less strength and longevity than the weakest of body sprays. I don't mind the smell, I just don't get the point. Maybe I can use it as a room spray? Again, it smells fine, but very one dimensional and fleeting. Not even worth the $20 I spent for 2.5 oz. Shockingly weak. As a cherry lover, this one really bummed me out. I'll let it maturate and try it again from time to time. Who knows what might happen. Not holding out much hope though! I currently work for one of the GAP Inc. companies, just for full disclosure. If anything I would think that would make me biased in favor of this fragrance, but no.
Amazing dark cherry scent with amber to balance it out.
Smells like a softer New York City of Dreams by Lattafa. Very old scent but still one of those ones if you are into sweet unisex fragrances. Pride point online be up and down found it in Burlington in Florida for $17 also seen on sale at Walmart online for $22 normally $35. Great replacement if you don’t want to play the large tab for French Defense
Very unisex, and requires some maceration for full effect. It’s a musky, deep sour cherry with some sharpness. It’s great for fall, but could be cloying in warmer months. This is cherry like the cherry juice drink some cultures have that is just straight up tart sour juice with very little sweetness. It’s wonderfully unisex. Very adult cherry.
I didn't notice any cherries. Maybe a little bit, but definitely not "sour cherry". The smell is sweet, good, for everyday wear. But it's so ordinary. I have a distinct feeling that I have already smelled it a hundred times somewhere. Overall: Nothing too interesting, but good. The most basic sweet-neutral perfume. Buy if you need something for every day use and don't want to think much.
I have purchased this twice on different occasions both times. First time was for a special wedding event and did not disappoint me. Smells very close to cherry, a little synthetic but not overwhelmingly. The top notes last about 15 minutes or so before the cherry fades into the blossom scent. While it smells great, it does not project a ton. It sits close to the skin for a more date night / intimate aspect. It does last for about 4 hours before it wanes out and the price is good for the amount you get. Solid 8 if you feel the previous statements (opinions) are what you are looking for.
i found this fragrance at burlington after wanting it for a little while (i’ve been really into cherry fragrances) but it smells so good! it’s a very sweet cherry fragrance that i think would be good for all seasons! it’s sweet but it’s not cloying, it’s more sweet in a fruity way than in a sugary way. I’m a big fan of of this fragrance!
Typically with cherry fragrances its a sweet sharp fruity take. This instance presents us with a much darker mysterious and tart cherry that contrasts smoothly and beautifully against the amber. this fragrance is one of the best cherries you'll get for the fraction of the price. sadly performance isn't all there.
this perfume smells like my great grandma's house, in a good way though!! bought a small bottle of it at burlington's for like 12 bucks.
At first, I was like “oh I no, it’s going to smell like cough syrup” but it settled immediately into a warmer cherry, and then dried down to a clean amber. I didn’t get any other notes. It’s a darker fragrance that seems more suited to winter and nighttime
Very realistic cherry fragrance that gives me about 6 or more hours of longevity with moderate projection. Pretty good especially for the price (19.99 at Burlington).
Ok, AWESOME. This is *not* a cough medicine cherry. It's truly more akin to a black cherry. It's fresher, and refrains from becoming syrupy at any point. Candied? Yes. But not heavily sweet and overwhelming like many releases lately. The cherry is embedded within a soft, subtly sweet neo-amber, and indistinct florals. It has a slightly brightness to it as well, which I realize might sound odd given the title, notes and even the bottles color, but it isn't a *heavy* fragrance that sits densely on the skin. It's uplifiting. It dries down into a familiar, gentle sweetness. It makes me think of black cherry soda, albeit in the prettiest form. If you're looking for something more distinctly black cherry (black cherry is usually a different flavor than standard cherry), this is a great budget option.
Selling for reduced price on eBay UK @ plutozbaby :)
Creamy cherry blossom and amber fragrance, doesn't smell like cherry, more like cherry soda. It leans more feminine but its also dark kind of fragrance. Pretty strong opening and very long lasting as skin scent. Packaging and presentation is top notch.
A candy cherry scent along with some overpowering florals. Not overpowering as in other notes being drowned out, but overpowering as in it is really strong and maybe even a little off-putting to some. In the air after drying down it smells pleasent and juvenile with some density. A relatively easy wear and lasts a good while especially on clothing
Everyone talking soooo much shit about this, but it’s gorgeous. Non medicinal cherry, very fresh and subtle, and the longevity on me is insane. Sprayed at 6:30am, it’s 8:40pm, I’ve changed shirts, and now the smell is on the new shirt from my skin. And I got complimented.
This is just ok to me. I get a little fruity cherry and then I think I get too much wood in the background. The florals come through pretty strong as well, I think I get cherry blossom more than freesia.
I really enjoy the scent. Every now and then I think I'm going to buy it, then I remember a fart in the air lasts longer.
