This is my second review of this. My perfume awakening started about 10 years ago. I started with designer and very quickly moved onto niche. I’ve probably smelled over 1000 fragrances. The most expensive perfume I own is $500. After all these years, this is still in my top 10. This gets a lot of hate for a wide variety of reasons. People think it smells very much like shampoo. I don’t get that at all. To me, this is an absolute perfect blend of Gourmand and woodsy. Yes it smells sweet but to me it’s not a fruity sweet. It’s deeper than that. It’s very warm. It’s very sweet, but I also pick up a lot of woodiness. A lot of people also think it smells synthetic. I don’t know why… but my nose does not agree. I mean, I look at the notes and I can see why it SHOULD register as synthetic ( I mean, I’ve never seen a cupcake note.) But I don’t know…I think it smells actually quite luxury. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not exactly humble when it comes to frags. When people ask what I’m wearing, I usually lie and tell them “I don’t know it was a present.” I guess I have too much pride telling people I’m wearing Britney Spears. But I can’t deny it. I freaking love it. It’s a little easier to proclaim on this platform. This still very much holds my heart and probably always will
I just got my bottle today so maybe it needs some time to macerate and bring the notes to life, but as of right now to me it smells like the Aquolina Pink Sugar/Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato DNA????? IDK how or why, my nose MUST be broken. It smells like dirt and Pink Sugar before settling down into a slightly nuttier Pink Sugar with a hint of Kiwi. I don't get the cupcake, the aquatic notes, jasmine, or white chocolate. I really want to love this because it's so iconic and the notes are right up my alley, but for some reason my nose doesn't love it. A bit disappointed, I hope with time the notes come more to life and this ends up being a love or even like.
I used to really hate this perfume but as time went on I’ve come to love the scent way more. It’s nice to smell every here and there, don’t think this is a scent most would use for their signature. It’s fun, youthful, and radiant.
It smells kind of meh. Like yeah, its a feminine fragrance, but I dont get any depth from it. Its so one dimensional in my opinion. A safe perfume for a boring person, I guess. Fruity.. sort of. But not a juicy type of fruity scent, more just like.. hair spray. Sour edge which is nice. I can get the litchi but it kind of smells like sour strawberry instead of fresh sweet litchi. And definitely woodsy notes. So.. yeah, feminine 2000s hairspray.
This always smells better on other people than on myself
I just got this for nostalgia purposes, but this still holds up today 💅. Ultra feminine and bubbly scent. She's a head turner.
I have a toxic relationship with this perfume. I love it, then spray it too much, then want to shower off my sins. It goes from addictive af to sickly sweet within less than 24 hours. Short term dopamine bomb, followed by instant regret. It smells like strippers and cupcakes. I love it and hate it equally as strongly. I bought a second bottle though...
I am SOO in love with this fragrance. This was the scent I wore a lot in college, and I never failed to get a compliment when I wore it out. She is the definition of a fun, grown-up girly scent, perfect for all ages. I feel so nice and feminine, but also sweetly mature when I put it on my body. It's so incredibly versatile, working for casual outings during the day, or an event at night. I can smell this on me ALL day, and I swear every time I spray it, my scent takes up any room I walk in. I could go out clubbing with this on, and still smell it when I come home. Perfect smell for when you want to take up a room with your scent, or have someone remember you purely by your smell. Don't sleep on seeing this scent in a TJMaxx or Ross, I've worn this scent for years and it never looses it's novelty, I am constantly smelling it throughout the day, its so addictive. Seriously one of the best celebrity perfume lines ever released.
this was the perfume i wanted the most from my childhood to my teens. based on the notes and the way people described it, i was convinced it'd be the one for me… and it ended up being one of the biggest disappointments i’ve ever had i’m obsessed with sweet scents okay? white chocolate??? oh my goddd bring it in except… this isn’t sweet not even a little. all i get is a slightly spicy, tart (i mean not sweet) fruity scent mixed with musk. i thought i was delusional so i kept smelling it over and over trying to find the sweetness everyone was talking about but it just isn’t there. it smells like those dirt cheap random body sprays maybe it’s the reformulation idk. but i really really don't like this one
Iconic for many reasons and still holds up to this day but the current formula is too weak
This was one of my signature scents when it first came out. It still holds up today too. Such a sweet smell and it has great lasting power!
I used to have a lotion that smelled exactly like this. There’s a salted caramel note in here for me which is weird cause it’s not listed as a note but I love
i distinctly remember this smelling like playdoh
i am about to go fucking insane
Feminine joy in a bottle. Beautiful unraveling and longevity- so cheap I wear it around the house and to work! Everybody loves it unless you overspray…
this perfume reminds me of those plastic glittery high heels you’d wear as a kid playing princess dress up. very 2000s baby energy. it’s got a very plasticky sweet accord to it, very childish and juvenile smelling which is what made me think of the plastic shoes. surprisingly long lasting though i spritzed it one on the collar on my jumper and i was still smelling it almost 8 hours later.
I ADORE Katy Perry killer queen & beyonce heat rush. But this fantasy perfume did not live up to the hype, it smells like black liquorice mixed with a sickening sweet tone. I like my perfumes more deep and flower scent but this was not it at all. It has an extreme white chocolate and almost old vintage shop scent😭. Def will not buy again
Omgg, this is fruity sweet cupacke!. Love this. Britney was such a revolutionary queen,. This smells like a yummy tropical sweet sweet perfume. Mmm , its smells delicious. The sillage and projection is moderate on me, its great for winters but also summers too!. Get this if you want a gourmand that's tropical and can be used year round and not a skin scent or weak but not waay too heavy
It's no Midnight Fantasy, which is one of my favourite fragrances ever. It's ok though. I would consider buying it again, as the price point is good. I have the 50ml edp but to be honest I have had body sprays with more longevity. It's very sweet, insipid, and the scent is very fleeting. It smells of sweet tangerine and kiwi. Its a fresh and girly scent.
Like many before me, I swallowed my (clearly illogical and unwarranted) disdain for celebrity fragrances and fell down the Fantasy rabbit hole a couple of months ago and now have 10 from the line (in addition to Curious, Prerogative, and Believe). Going to do summaries of each in case anyone finds it helpful. I have yet to find any redundant, although some contain more or less of the OG DNA than others and there are only two or three I think I'll keep permanently. It's been a fun and surprising journey...... ORIGINAL Fantasy: EDP; fuity gourmand w/slightly syrupy kiwi up top (along with sparkly litchi and quince), a signature "cupcake" accord further sweetened by a "white chocolate" accord, which is balanced by slightly indolic jasmine and spicy orchid. The drydown offers a bit of soft soapiness and blonde woods, cushioning the fruity sweetness. I believe the whole DNA of the line lies in the fruity musk lying on top of some gourmand accord that weaves into every iteration. Even when the "cupcake accord" isn't called out in the notes, the same sweetness is there, whatever it's composition. It's the identity of the whole line and will become unmistakable to your nose (if it hasn't already). I love it bc I love litchi and white florals (and jasmine in particular) and whatever sweet accord is here, it predates the rot-your-teeth-out trend and achieves a balance I prefer in my gourmands. It's inexpensive and lasts, the bottle is adorable, and I love the way the notes come together. Fantasy INTENSE: EDP; swaps syrupy kiwi for juicy pear, rocks the addition of smooth but earthy patchouli, amps up the woody notes; I swear I smell a hint of sweat and cigarette smoke; it's my favorite so far, but best in cooler weather SHEER Fantasy: EDT; swaps a syrupy kiwi note for a brighter citrus accord, swaps jasmine for LOTV for added freshness, tamps the sweetness down a touch by removing the "white chocolate" accord, and amps up the musk so that things feel soapier. If you find the OG too cloying, Sheer may be your gal. MIDNIGHT Fantasy: EDP or EDT (I have the EDP); fruit is all tart red berries and plum this time, no chocolate and no cupcake so sweetness is all vanilla and amber; jasmine is swapped out for freesia; it's one of only two flankers, so far, I can't do...I dislike the "red berry" profile so ubiquitous these days (which isn't redeemed to my nose by the plum), but my daughter loves it so it went to her. Of note is that MF predates the trend, so is it's Grandmama in many respects. NAKED Fantasy: EDT; fruit is a boozy apple up top this time with black currant; apple fades into a peachy apricot floral that in combo with the cupcake accord and vanilla reads like homemade peach ice cream; drydown is similar to the OG, imho, it's my second favorite. It lasts 6ish hrs, but I like a second spritz after a few hours so I can experience the boozy apple again. HIDDEN Fantasy: EDP; fruitiness here is derived from citrus and lemon verbena; jasmine is accompanied by neroli this time, and the sweetness is a 'gummy candy' accord on top of vanilla and amber; Hidden is spicy with the addition of clove, which in concert with the citrus, has many reviewers thinking of holiday wear. I myself am going to try this out in the summer bc the citrus/neroli combo sounds like it'll work. CANDIED Fantasy: EDT; tops the cupcake accord with fluffy strawberry bubblegum, keeps it bright with orange (no litchi, kiwi, or quince), hibiscus, and LOTV. No white chocolate, no orris, so everything is light and airy without being powdery. A light addition of musk largely keeps it out of "shower gel" territory. It's one of few 'red berry' frags I love, although I'm having trouble pinpointing why. There's a sensation I get in my nose and the back of my throat from Yara, Cherry Stem, MF, CH VGG, Her, etc that I attribute to something in the red berry accords. I don't get it with Candied. Maybe there's some typical, accompanying musk that gets used a ton with red berry frags that is missing here and spares me that feeling. The bottle is too cute with its bubblegum pink glass. JUNGLE Fantasy: EDT; fruitiness achieved with watermelon "blossom" and yuzu this time, with violet leaf, water lily, and gardenia creating a green and aquatic theme. An unusual note here is gustavia flower, which reads like tropical fruit and white florals; base is signature cupcake dialed down to a whisper and tonka; has the least amount of OG DNA, IMHO, as well as the most intimate sillage and shortest lifespan (on my skin, anyway) of the line. It's aquatic and gourmand at the same time and I like both profiles so I enjoy it. BLISSFUL Fantasy: EDT; Swaps the Kiwi, litchi, and quince for melon, lily, and freesia up top. Mids are all white florals, with the tiare giving Blissful a tropical bent. The base seems much like the OG, but fresher and lighter....that sweet-soapy base becomes less sweet and less shower gel-like, more body powder-like, with the removal of much of the 'cupcake' accord while retaining the orris Although there's 'melon here', I don't suspect calone...I don't detect any aquatic character, ozone, or cucumber. The melon is sweet, kinda fuzzy, and only slightly green. It's nice for warmer months. Sillage is lessened in this one as is longevity, but still good for an EDT. Fantasy DID IT AGAIN: EDT; strays pretty far from the OG DNA (although maybe not as far as Jungle Fantasy?); swaps OG's kiwi, litchi, and quince for mandarin, pear, and fresh LOTV; it's the first time I've encountered rose (very light and jammy here) in a Fantasy frag, which accompanies a light addition of herbal lavender in the mids. The "oomph" of white florals is absent. Sweetness is now from an 'almond mousse' accord, which feels airier and nuttier than the 'cupcake' accord. The base has 'cherry jubilee' which, to me, reads like the ubiquitous red berry combo that is everywhere these days; I'd say it's a second cousin to MF - MF is soapy, musky, and jelly-like, where DIA is waxy, woody, and whipped. DIA reads like 'cherry chapstick' and leans more raspberry or tart strawberry, IMHO, than cherry. I love a boozy, maraschino cherry, with some spice, wet leather, or chewy patch and this is not that, so it's going to my daughter who loves this profile (like MF did). Longevity is great for an EDT. I'll keep updating if/when I acquire any other flankers mostly for my own sake so I can keep them all straight. I want Electric and am considering Circus. It's been a fun line to explore and they all look adorable on my shelves. The few I feel I won't be able to live without are Intense, Naked, and Candied. If you're in the market (and are a patch lover), Believe is different from all of these and it's shot into my top ten recently and will be one I stash back up bottles of. It's surprised me how much I've enjoyed BS's scents. Just goes to show you don't have to throw away your paycheck to snag a great fragrance!
Defined a generation. It's Britney bitch.
When I first bought this perfume I thought it was going to be sweet and fruity and now I feel quite disappointed . I was hoping for a girly sweet everyday wear but instead I find it spicy and very mature it really is not for me I still feel a little tricked .
It blends the freshness of kiwi and the sweetness of cupcake very well
This is an easy scent to become everyday wear, it’s a sweet and tropical scent that dries down well. It doesn’t last very long but it’s worth the money
wow... bought this on a whim because it was cheap and i've found myself reaching for it time and time again. britney spears did her thing with this one. it's so easy to throw on for any occasion and smelling it just makes everything feel right in the world. love love love
Before I bought it I expected it to be more heavy on the cupcake side, but I still fell in love with this fragrance. It lasts all day and it has a gorgeous bottle.
Super girly 2000s fragrance! Its a nice kiwi cupcake scent that lasts forever, It is a little generic in modern days but will forever be iconic! <3
Just blind bought this since I’ve never smelt before! It’s really nice! Smells dated but I think that’s a given considering when it came out but not necessarily in a bad way. Upon first spray it’s a little messy but the fruit smells good! As it dries down I start to get a creamier and floral smell blending with the lingering fruit. I don’t get a strong cupcake chocolate smell but it’s definitely there. The fruitiness lingers with the cupcake and florals balancing everything. I would say if you want a stronger cupcake white chocolate smell try fantasy intense but only if you like patchouli. But i like this one nonetheless I think it needs to grow on me more Edit: after wearing it more I can say it officially grew on me. It reminded me of another perfume and I finally put my finger on it. For some odd reason it reminds me of angel elixir if it was fruity lol. It’s odd but it was very reminiscent to my nose. The sweetness of the cupcake and white chocolate balance the fruitiness of the fruits, the florals adding a nice spice, and the musk adding a nice delicate touch. And it’s interesting because I do get a slight warm spice to it. I really love this perfume now it’s awesome
Initially, there's a very synthetic and alcoholic scent, like old cologne, then a very light pastry scent, like white chocolate, and finally it becomes even lighter and more fruity. The notes, which look great on paper, aren't really nice, and it doesn't smell as amazing as it's hyped up to be. I love Jungle Fantasy, but this one smells too synthetic. The kiwi scent is very strong. Update: I waited a bit before releasing this, and it seems more balanced now, but it definitely still has a very artificial scent.
