Gloria

I blind bought this (don't ask about the price 😬) because of the rave reviews and...I wasn't disappointed. It is absolutely delicious and addictive. Guerlain's SDV seems like a dupe of Gloria, considering Gloria came first. They are very similar, but I prefer Gloria.

I'm posting here my review of Splendida by Sergio Tacchini. Older people who remember the gem that was Gloria by Cacharel: try this one and tell me if it doesn't ring the same. It's been sooooo loooong ago, but Gloria was one of my favourites. I only had a 30 ml or 50 ml, I don't remember, but it was too small for what I would have wanted, I adored it. But money was tight and fragrance was expensive, and when it was finished I said I would buy again whenever I'll be able to afford it. Only for it to get discontinued. I've been looking for a dupe ever since, with no luck. Splendida hits really really close to home, the almonds and the amber and it might be just my mind, but there's some cherry there, or some other mix that reads as cherry to me. Or else it's only in my head, and it's a placebo Gloria fake memory. However, if you compare them on the Fragrantica tool, the main accords are almost the same, even though they only share three notes: almond, tonka and cedar. I love it, and for 12 euros a pop, I might just stack up on it.

today I have tested Divine Vanille By Essential Parfums and instantly been reminded of wonderful Gloria, which I wore addictively in my 20s. OMG !!!

Another one of my top fave perfumes and was gutted this was discontinued. I managed to get the perfume oil of this from the Fragrance Ship in USA. They are not cheap but the perfume oil smells identical to the original cacharel perfume if anyone is looking for it. They have a sale once or twice a year (always Black Friday at end of Nov), where they do two for the price of one, so I recommend waiting till then to place orders. The same company will also produce a new perfume oil by analyzing the formula of any perfumes you send samples to them and will put on sale if you run low on any discontinued perfumes and want to keep dupes

If like me, you are missing Gloria, please try Glow by Akro. Olivier Cresp created both and they are nearly identical! I've tried, Perfume parlour, L'Orientale Eau Jeune, joop le bain and the others in the reminds me section but this is hands down the most similar ❤️ it's beautiful!

Not at all what I was hoping. No cherry, amaretto or almond. I get a spiriteuse double Vanille but without the Guerlain blending.

Yes!!! Akro Glow is very similar and made by the same perfumer. I can’t believe I found a dupe for Gloria.

Oh this is lovely. I can't smell the cherry a lot, but I can smell the almond (amaretto), amber, vanilla, a little bit of tonka and a teeny tiny bit of white florals (they are in the background). It's very nice, subtle and soft. Very office friendly and generally pleasant. I can't see anyone being offended by it as it's so gentle, well blended and pleasant. It doesn't smell like Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain though. Double Vanille is much darker, heavier and slightly woodier. Whilst Gloria is a light perfume. Double Vanille is more for the colder seasons and evenings, whilst Gloria can be worn daytime and pretty much any season. They are both beautiful, but their essence is very different.

If you miss this gorgeous perfume, you need to check out Akro Glow. It’s almost identical! Made by the same perfumer also. I promise you, get a sample, you won’t regret it.

I remember this when I was a young woman at college, I felt so mature and confident wearing this. Gorgeous, comforting, sexy too. Perfume Parlour’s dupe is spot on.

I wore this when my now 19 year old son was a baby, I just bought it when get baby stuff from boots for £15! I remember hearing my husband saying "you smell like mummy's perfume" when holding our son. I'll always have a bottle of perfume parlours dupe to remember those times

I just got my hand on a dupe of this beautiful perfume. And even it’s dupe is amazing. I can’t even imagine how beautiful the original is. It’s almondy dominant fragrance to me. Slightly masculine in a good way. Captivating. Definitely an autumn fragrance. Also i think, it’s a kind of perfume that you think you’ve smelled before but don’t know where. I feel like my mom would love this cause it gives me the vibe of an early 00’s perfumes that my mom wore/ would’ve worn. In a nutshell it’s worth to smell. Loves it!

Amika's Mirror ball hair conditioner smells like Gloria, maybe their other products too? very similar if not identical

If only cacharel would bring this back, she was so far ahead of her time, I still miss this scent

Gloria was very ahead of its time.If I didnt know I would say this was a Lost Cherry flanker. Wonderful sweet cherry vanilla scent.Feminine,classy playful,youthful at the same time.Very much to my liking. Last time I had been able to find a bottle it was way off.It smelled like green wet hankies.This bottle I have now is precious.

This is a newfound LOVE for me and that rarely happens :-) It´s so goooooood. Woody, sweet, nutty, feminine and SO sexy. I don´t think I have ever smelled something in the same vibe, although it reminds me a little bit of "Mon Guerlain" that also have a pibe tobacco - ish sweet note, at least to my nose. I am looking forward to using this in the evenings of fall/winterseason. (Sorry about my english, not my first language)

I had in in 2002, beautiful almondy and slightly sweet, just perfect and amazing for the price! I wish they had not discontinued it. Such a gem!

Found a sample from another era at the bottom of a drawer. Even though it seems to have turned a little, the first few minutes don't remind me of anything other than the heady Cacharel signature of those early decades (and which always made me nauseous at the slightest encounter with Amor Amour or Euphoria). Impossible to put a precise label on this vanillin-woody-plastic Cacharel aspect, but it's there, and everywhere. After a few minutes, the fragrance does indeed become a little almondy (but Amaretto, let's not exaggerate). The rest of the notes seem to me to be a mishmash of sweet and heady things, from synthetic vanilla once again, through a magical fir-tree amber aspect, to the over-infused artificial-syrup cherry you spit out. Well, maybe I'm a total ignoramus, but there's definitely no love lost between me and Cacharel fragrances (especially from this decade). If someone would like to enlighten me as to why... (not disgust, of course, but at least the mysteries of the trend)

Well. I found perfume parlour, uk and they have a copy of Gloria. And I'm happy I bought it. Absolute worth trying.

I have a bottle too and I love it. I use it sparingly to make it last but I know where to get more. I haven't ever smelled anything like it either. It's very beautiful.

I so so so wish this fragrance would return. This was my 2000's scent and I NEVER paid for one drink in a night club when wearing this. If you needed someone to pay for your drinks, pay your car note, buy you a car, buy you a house, etc. this fragrance would attract them! LOL! It was so sexy on, you felt so confident and beautiful wearing it and ALL the boys came to the yard when you wore it. It was like a vanilla, amber, Dr. Pepper. So boozy and sweet, lasted all night, stayed beautiful the whole time and you would wake up the next morning still smelling it on your clothing, hair, etc. I have never found her replacement. Gloria you are missed.

Many of my most beloved fragrances have been sadly discontinued over the years. I dream of brands bringing back my long lost loves one day. However If I could pick only 1 female fragrance to bring back from my long list, it would be this ❤️ I find it absolutely divine. I have a couple of decent clones that I treasure, but I miss the real deal. This was absolutely stunning 🥲

Today I’ve smelled Byzance Rochas and it’s fair to say it brought me back to my early twenties when I used to wear Gloria. I couldn’t figure it out at the beginning but after smelling my wrist a few times I clicked. If you feel nostalgic please give it a try plus the bottle is gorgeous and the scent so elegant and classy!

This was a great scent, so bad it's discontinued. I had a mini a few (many) years ago, I can say I was overwhelmed by its beauty. I tried a dupe, at first it smelled just like Gloria, afterwards I guess they changed its formula. Nothing compares to it. I shall try, though, Dior Addict Eau Delice. Edited- I couldn't find this one, either.

I can finally say that my journey looking for a Gloria's dupe ended after more than a decade. Dior Addict Eau Delice is the winner! I'm wearing both on each wrist right now and they are 85% similar, Dior having a little more sweetness. I'm actually liking Dior's better but it may be due to my Gloria's starting to go off after so many years. I still hope that one day Cacharel brings my beloved Gloria back!

I won't be telling you how much I love Gloria and treasure that half of a 50 ml bottle I got left.. I have been looking for a substitute for ages among original perfumes, but nothing came close to this unique scent. Kenzo Indian Holi may be, which is already discontinued too, but something was still lacking. Today I tested Van Cleef & Arpels Bois Dore and Bingo! I got that precious note that I so love in Gloria and miss everywhere else!!! I got so excited about this discovery that I had to finally register on Fragrantica to write this as seems it has not been mentioned before. :) P.S.: for anyone not familiar with Perfume Parlour and missing Gloria, do try their dupe: it's perfect match!

I'm a sucker for discontinued perfume. I was mortified when I learned that my mom practically dumped a full bottle of Gloria down the drain because she had so many perfumes but never wore them. How could she have known that I'd be asking for it, years later? Or that it would become so valuable? I managed to score a small 7ml bottle at a modest price. It was stored very well. It's alcoholic on the opening, I can't tell if that's the amaretto, of it it's just because the perfume turned a bit over the years. Anyway, this is very interesting. Once I think I've smelled all there is to smell, a new note pops up. I was pleasantly surprised to not smell too much pepper. I smell just enough to tread on a "warm spicy" accord, but it doesn't tickle the back of my throat the way pure black pepper does. I was also pleased to not get a huge amount of cherry. I find that cherry almost always smells like cough syrup. So yes, the notes of cherry that I do detect, combined with the amaretto and pepper reminds me of a cherry cough drop. However, it is very pleasantly balanced with the vanilla and amaretto and amber. You can *almost* trick yourself into thinking that you are smelling a warm cherry pie, rather than medicine. I wish it were more almond-y. When the woody notes of styrax and cedar come out, that's when my nostalgia gets triggered. That's when I started to smell my mom. My mother was a professor at a university who was also working on her disseration to get her doctorate. I almost never saw her during my childhood years. There were only a few times when I went to work with her. I would stay in her office and organize her desk and draw pictures for her. The old wooden drawers of the desk, the pencils and the chalkboard erasers... They all kind of come to the forefront of my mind when I smell this. Perhaps it's because the only time my mother would have worn this perfume is when she was going to work, and these were also the only occasions in which I was close enough to smell her. So this perfume is making me surprisingly emotional now, haha. That being said, it's beautiful and certainly vintage, but it's a *little* mature for me. Or maybe it is age-appropriate (I'm 32) but it just doesn't seem to fit my generation. It reminds me of my mom and my husband says that it reminds him of his Nonna. Take what you will from that. It seems to be fleeting on my skin, but it lasts for days on clothes. Every time I put my sweater on, I catch a whiff of "mom-at-work" and think 'wow that smells nice.' And I begrudgingly miss my mom. Now I have to call her, don't I? It's obviously very expensive due to its scarcity. If I had extra money, I'd surely purchase a full bottle for the nostalgia factor. But my understanding is that it was a very decent price when it was first released. *sigh*
