I wore this perfume during 2005 and 2006. I was 13-14. I received so many compliments at that time haha. It was delicious.

2025 I found a very similar vibe to promess cacharelVelvet infusion by Dolce gabbana

Man, this was my signature scent! As I'm certain it was for many of you too. The fragrance's discontinuation left me feeling very disappointed. I received numerous compliments when I wore it! The fragrance was fresh and floral.

I received this as a gift in my 20s and wasn’t too jazzed about it; I found the bottle and its contents too juvenile with the fruity sweet opening. I’ve just now have started to appreciate this in my mid-30s. The magic is in the mid and drydown, which to my nose is composed of powdery candied violets, musk, and lingering raspberries/blackberries, but without as much juiciness. It’s lovely, soft and feminine, great for spring/summer daytime wear, but also comforting for wear to bed.

This is clearly well made, but reminds me of the smell of quality hair products more than perfume. I suppose that’s my age talking, but this is lacking architecture or interest. The bottle is gorgeous, however.

Smells like black licorice and vanilla velvet. It's too fruity and sour for me. However, once it dries a bit, I love the musk and the amber, with the jasmine — ooh! It's just relaxing.

I found an old bottle of this fragrance in my closet storage. It’s a youthful fruity floral. The blackberry, citrus are fleeting and this fragrance does not have the best longevity. I can’t believe what they’re trying to charge for this fragrance now.

Simple, youthful fruity floral that's not worth the prices it's going for on the second-hand market (I bought a miniature before it became too unaffordable). Mostly blackberry, orchid and musk with fairly low projection. Nice, but nothing remarkable. The box mine came in is adorable though.

It has been my favourite perfume for years. I literally adored it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford it when I was at school. I dreamt of buying more than 3 bottles per one time to spray it all day long. Now, I could buy even more bottles but this miraculous perfume discontinued in 2013, if I am not mistaken, but my dream of having it chases me even today 🙌 I can’t understand why such beautiful fragrances discontinue. There was something special about this scent. It was a poetry. Do you know any decent dupes?❤️

I was able to find a bottle of this discontinued gem recently, and the juice and fragrance appears to be in perfect condition. No degradation to the liquid or the scent; all appears to be in order. I must say that I really adore the Y2K styling of the bottle, with the thick plastic loop on the cap as an accent. The late 90's and early 2000's were all about that "chunky" plastic look, with a big emphasis on transparent plastics being used in unusual ways (transparent plastic coats, transparent plastic electronics, blow up plastic chairs for your bedroom, etc.) so this fits the overall aesthetic. I do have to admit that I dislike blackberry, black currant, and cassis leaf in general on me. I always find it overly sweet. This is a fragrance suitable for a teenage girl, whom it was marketed to. Top notes of bright, glittering blackberry and mandarin give this scent a fruity sparkle that would be immediately attractive to teens and tweens the world over. The center of the fragrance contains violet, which I think is why I do like it quite a bit regardless of the the questionable choice in top note. To me, violet adds a sweetness and powderyness that turns a fragrance from fruit punch left in the sun to more of a tart, candied scent. Very reminiscent of Sweet Tarts candy, actually. The cedar and sandalwood show up later and lead to a soft, pleasant skin-scent drydown. That soft skin-scent was also very popular in the early 2000's, but usually with an emphasis on woodiness rather than vanilla or powder notes to avoid the connection with White Shoulders or Love's Baby Soft, since that's what everyone's mothers wore. Overall I think that this would be a real winner of a scent for a 14 year old girl circa 2002, who wanted to smell more quality than body fantasies, but wouldn't have the money for something like Parisienne (although I'm not sure when Parisienne came out). The major flaw in this product was the packaging and advertising. The name "Promesse" implies some sort of virginal yearning for marriage, which was definitely NOT on the minds of the average Y2K teenager. If they had called it something like "Be You," or "Pink Angel" or something similarly vapid it may have caught on better. A note on similar scents: The citrus / blackberry accord is similar to Yves St Laurent Parisienne, although without the heavier, musky base and sillage that turns Parisienne into a beast mode fruit-salad of a perfume. The sweetness and delicacy of the mandarin orange on top give the scent a soft, sparkling quality that seems like the younger sister of Lovely, by Sarah Jessica Parker. Lovely does not have the blackberry note in it and also a woodier, softer base making it seem a bit more restrained and grown up. Edit: My fragrance appears to have yellowed with age, however I don't see this as a bad thing. The scent still smells exactly right, so the yellowing does not affect the fragrance at all, in my experience. I also think that the yellow combined with the pink on the bottle looks quite nice and has a pleasant color contrast. They should have made the fragrance yellow to begin with! ^__^

(Not really a review, but I just wanted to warn people: I was gifted an original and new bottle back in the day, and it turned really quickly. I wasn’t even able to finish my bottle, it became a green slimy mess. So please consider this if you’re thinking of buying this discontinued fragrance now for the insane prices they go!)

This is the first perfume I ever had. I have happy memories when thinking about it. The citrus slightly cuts the sweetness of the flowers and make it very well balanced. The dry down is great!

This is the first perfume I ever chose for myself, bought with my own money, and owned for myself. I was a little girl in my mid-teens. Before Promesse, I would inherit half-empty bottles from my mother and grandmother -- all the hand-me-downs they did not care for. Those were way too sophisticated for me and I didn't like them at all. I mean, Tocade? Seriously. When I went to the drugstore on my own, with my own money, I was excited. I sniffed Promesse and I instantly knew that it smelled exactly the way I wanted my body to smell. To this day, it is still the only bottle of perfume I've ever used all the way down to the last drop in one linear go without a break. I don't miss it, because I don't think that my matured self would find much in it anymore; but it will always have a sweet spot of forgotten puberty in my old heart.

The first perfume(EDT) I ever fell in love with. I got it as a gift when I was 14 years old back in 2007 and instantly fell in love. This was my signature scent for so many years. It's a very girly fragrance. Romantic, fresh and smells like raspberries. I used to wear this every day and on every occasion and I used to get so any compliments as a teenager. When I smell it today, I don't really like it as much. Haven't worn it since 2013, and I've hardly used any from my second bottle (EDP). I've had the EDT and the EDP, and personally, I think I liked the EDT version is better although it doesn't last as long, it's light, bright and beautiful. The EDP can sometimes be a bit sickling and gives me a headache but it has a special place in my heart, haven't had the guts to give it away, even though I haven't worn it in 5 or 6 years. Might pass it on to my 14-year-old cousin if she likes it.

A girlier version of Chanel´s Allure edt.

Ok people around the world. today October 2018 I found a similar scent to promess of cacharel. I Am very happy and I want to share with you. Coach Floral is a new fragrance and smell so close to promess. Please let me know what do you think

Romantic, light, elegant, yet strong enough to make a statement, Promesse is one of the scents that did leave an impression after it left the stage. Sadly discontinued, but missed by many and hopefully treasured by those who still own it. I'm only wearing my bottle during spring, since it's very hard to find a new bottle nowadays. I was lucky enough to find a new bottle that not only hasn't turned, but also kept it's original color. If you stumble across it, please give it a try,you might love it!

Great composition, sweetness of fruits and freshness of flowers , lovely romantic fragrance.

I recently purchased a pre-loved bottle of this for a good price being a lover of Cacharel fragrances (except Eden!) and I can see a lot of fans sad about its discontinuation :( that’s a feeling I think most every perfume lover knows all too well, and a hard feeling to explain to non perfume lovers for sure. Especially when you see less loved fragrances of a line around and the best ones gone. I think this is a lovely fragrance, it’s not an immediate favorite but it’s really nice to wear. My bottle has the dreaded yellowing which I don’t think can be avoided sometimes, so it’s an older bottle - I’m not sure when this was discontinued. I hate when my perfumes yellow. Anyway, I have tried the Italia perfume noted as smelling similar, although this was a while back, and I believe if memory serves it smells similar to Promesse. The next time I see it I will compare the two better. This is feminine but tart berry fragrance. I would say if I was going to give an idea of what this reminds me of I would say Parisienne by YSL. Hope this helps.

This is one of my all time favorites and remains hard to find. I have however tried a dupe from Hayward Enterprises that is very, very close to the original. I have tried other dupes from this same company for various scents and have been pleased on the whole. I actualiy prefer the dupe in some cases (such as the dupe for Tresor in Love, Luscious Pink, Fancy, Notorious and several others). Sometimes I will try a dupe first to see if I like it before investing in the "real deal."

It's 2017 and I'm still SCREAMING Promesse come back into my life....this scent holds a special place in my heart and I've yet to find the perfect dupe and a scent to even come close to this dear beauty signature scent of mine. It was affordable, long-lasting and just plain gorgeous on me....I will always cherish this scent and it will forever remain a long-missed favorite.

Love it. It's just my perfect mix. Musk and cedar are very prominent here, as well as orange. It is hard to describe all the complexity of this fragrance. That perfume is very sophisticated, I got a lot of complements about it. It is such a shame I can't find it now...

I love this scent! It makes me happy and I get a fresh feeling from it. Like someone already mentioned, it is romantic and fruity and like all of my scents, it is also flowery. When it went of the market I bought my second bottle of 100 ml, which I cherish. Fortunately I already discovered a good replacement: Feerie by Van Cleef & Arpels, unfortunately, Van Cleef & Arpels is even more expensive than Cacharel! Both fragrances are very longlasting and both contain black currant and jasmine. Honestly, I love Feerie even more, but that is probably because I am a sucker for rose scents. Feerie contains Bulgarian rose and Egyptian Jasmine, while Promesse doesn't contain rose, but it does contain jasmine. From the 28 bottles of scent that I own, 13 contain rose and 14 contain jasmine. (And 12 vanilla, which has nothing to do with Promesse at all, but which happens to be another ingredient in perfumes which I am very fond of.)

I decided that today being Valentine's Day, and my husband works on the other side of the country that I would buy myself a gift. Oh hell who am I trying to kid, I just bought it because I wanted to lol again with my shoppers drug mart blind buys...of everything on the 19.99 shelf this one kind of popped out to me. So I saw that people think it smells like lise water desirable which I LOVE. So this one isn't bad, and while drying down I guess I can sort of see the similarities... MILD similarities. It has this very tart sour ish kind of smell immediately after being sprayed and it does seem to be dying down which is good. So yeah, for 20 bucks I say it's a good deal. Its not a super love, its a like but a good like!

Our local drugstore sold some overstock recently, mostly uninteresting things. But this one caught my attention, because I did not know it (I knew it existed, of course, but I never smelled it). I went home, read your reviews here and dared to go back and make a blind buy. A good one! A very nice, good quality, spring and summer fragrance. It was less than $10 and the only reason nobody bought it was, I asssume, that it had obviously been a returned item. But it was properly sealed and the quality is perfect. Thank you!

It s quite intens, I love the aroma of this. It s very natural.

It s a happy fragrance, romantic, it s fruity. Jasmine seems to dominate the whole perfume.

I have dreamed about this perfume for a few years and finally I have it. This scent is wonderful and I love it. I can not say exactly what I sense there, but there is a combination of fresh mandarins with bergamot, sweet delicate flowers and forest fruits. This fragrance is quite intense, vibrant and sufficiently stable. It is rather for the day than the night, for the young, confident and sensual women, who are sometimes romantic. One of the most beautiful fragrance :-)
