A little “surprising things are all around us!” moment 😅 I’ve just received the bottle and immediately rushed to spray it on my wrist. And the very first thing I smelled was roasted almonds coated in cinnamon and sugar 🤭 The very same kind they sell around Christmas from little pop-up stalls in Tallinn’s Old Town, right in the heart of the city. And you know what? I found this interpretation incredibly cozy and beautiful. I certainly have nothing against the fragrance smelling this way, although I never would have imagined that it would develop like this on my skin. Perhaps the bottle still needs a little time to rest after its journey, settle down, and gradually reveal all its facets. I’ll be keeping an eye on it 👀 If the scent changes over time, I’ll definitely update my review.
Looking to sell my bottle. UK shipping only
At first I thought this smelled like barbecue sauce. But then I kept wearing it because there was something comforting and addictive about it. Then I got the milk and the wood. Now it’s one of my favorite perfumes. Like the ultimate warm hug on a cold fall day. My smokey, woody, milky, super sexy barbecue sauce. I’m obsessed
This leans more masculine, which I don't usually like, but it's so rich and warm... I really enjoy this. It becomes more and more unisex as it dries down.
It's wild how fragrance experiences vary so much from person to person! I really love this. I get no sourness, no overwhelm, no musty closet. It is a woody vanilla. Warm. Milky. Strong at first spray? Yes. Though, for me it mellows pretty quickly. I'm 6 hours in and it's mostly gone. Just a faint vanilla with a hint of coconut sunscreen. I'm not sure how else to describe it. I do spray lightly, and maybe that's the key. I wore it today, which is very hot, just out of curiosity! On my skin it is almost tropical, in a coconut cream kind of way. Very different from most experiences here, but I guess my chemistry just works with it.
Where is the Palo Santo in this? It’s disappointing because I thought it would be the star of the show. Nevertheless, it lasted for only an hour, and all I got was rum.
In its milky notes, it is reminiscent of Blanche bête. Yet its bolder, perhaps more vibrant and alcoholic, since the rum -giving sort of a drunk feeling. Deep wood, very sharp and mesmerizing, directs to think about pirate ships. Its playful and distinguished at the same time. That is a Jack Sparrow-personality scent.
Go easy on the trigger with this or you will regret it immediately. Potent woody amber alert. With a lighter application I can experience it without getting overwhelmed and nauseated. I think for something inspired by palo santo, they overdosed the vanilla making this more of a sweet amber scent than anything like the distinct nutty/creamy flavor of the wood sticks. And there are far better ambers, vanillas, and boozey rum scents out there than this. For a better palo santo scent I can only recommend trying Celine Eau de Californie or Costa Brazil. I’m betting there are some others by now as the palo santo trend is in full swing. 1 out of 5.
Ooff, I smelled two BAD ones today that have me checking the "hate" option and I rarely use that option. This is BAD. It smells like sour milk and burning tires. The other one was Al Contrario. This is not a safe blind buy. Not at all. It smells nothing like the lovely Commodity Milk line or Sissa. Fragrance is subjective so YMMV. But IMO, this is offensive and not a safe blind buy!!
99% identical to Fat Electrician by Etat Libre d'Orange (ELDO). This is not unique therefore a pass. Try before you buy it, not a safe fragrance
Bois Course from Diptyque and Black Tonka from Soleil de Grâce's slightly drunk cousin
On first spray, all I get is a sour rum. I agree witg the other comments saying that it smells like a musty old closet. Has a little bit of that old people smell in there too. Deeply disappointing.
This works really well on my skin, guess I’m lucky it doesn’t turn sour or overly smoky. The opening smells nutty for some reason, then it develops into a woody note (which I love) with some sweetness. It’s creamy and lactonic. This is more of a personal scent, it doesn’t scream, but it lasts all day.
If Milk from Commodity was to turn sour…Didn’t like this one even though I was very intrigued!
I feel like this is a really well crafted fragrance. It is, however, a lesson to me about trying a fragrance on skin. When I was recently in Barcelona I visited the store and the staff assistant was wonderful. I knew I wanted to buy the discovery set, and I also wanted to buy the choose-your-own samples set. I smelt Palo Santo on paper and thought it was gorgeous so I chose it as a sample. Later on, I've tried it on skin and all the different facets came through. It's a beautiful fragrance, but very much not for me. On skin, I get more rum and the vetiver, and it smells almost smoky too. I'm glad I got a chance to try it - I won't be buying a full bottle though.
This smells exactly like my grandma’s closet - bought in the 60s and never, ever decluttered. Stale and aggressively outdated. I’m beyond annoyed. Why can't NO ONE get Palo Santo right? Thank God I only bought a 10 ml decant.
Alas on me it develops in to more of a burnt and sour smell, but smelled nice on paper
Begins as thick, sweet, almost savoury molasses. An iteration of smoky and lactonic in the vein of burnt caramel. Settles into nutty woodiness, warm spice, and a nearly medicinal bitter herbality. Click your heels three times upon the drydown, and you might catch a stylised impression of palo santo.
Palo Santo is nice but didn't give me the experience that I expected from its name. Despite the woody accord being listed first, I pick up on a mostly savory vanilla with the woody accord being waaay in the background, along with a bit of smoke. And although there's a milk note listed, the wearing experience doesn't bring about feelings of comfort that milk notes tend to bring. I think I would appreciate this more if the name didn't set up a false expectation. This might be a disappointment for anyone craving a palo santo or strong woody element. This fragrance is best enjoyed if you suspend expectations and if you understand this to be an artistic interpretation of palo santo and not a literal one.
This smells similar to Bois Dore from Van cleef....I have both parfumes so compared them...I love Bois Dore but bot are a bit pricey. Palo Santo smells a bit more smokey and bit toned down in the opening...even when I compared both pyramids - they are very close to each other..hope it helps blind buyers
Palo Santo is absolutely unique — cozy, warm, and beautifully enveloping. The creamy milk and rum blend into an addictive, comforting mix that feels like a soft blanket on a chilly autumn day. It’s long-lasting but stays close to the skin — quiet, yet impossible to forget.Truly perfect for fall. Love at first sniff 🍂🤎
Smells like graham cracker dust with milk
Creamy, sweet, smoky and sandalwood. A tiny hint of rum. On clothes the smoky-ness is not as detectable.
I LOVE this fragrance. Such a smooth scent. Starts off Smokey but omg the dry down is just so cozy. Typically I’m like no longevity? Get that out of my face but this stuff can stay. Forever.
Sweet, creamy vetiver in the same vein as Fat Electrician by ELDO and Poems 1 thru 12 by UF. Palo Santo is a little more milky than the other two to my nose. If you felt Fat Electrician was too earthy and/or “rubbery”, this might be your jam. Sillage is quite intimate, so this is more of a close skin scent. The longer I wear it, the sweeter it gets. I’m well into the dry down and I’m getting sweet, slightly smoky cereal milk.
I really want to like this and a part of me does but it’s just not wearable for me. There’s something very heavy, almost treacle/molasses/liquorish, something dark and syrupy and sticky in there that just makes it too heavy for me.
Woody, milky vetiver... so absolutely cozy. I really enjoy this smell with just a tiny touch of sweetness. Very quiet sillage on my skin.
I am envious of you guys who get any sweetness in this. All I get is Wood, burned Wood.
I didn't quite know what to expect from this but it was an instant like. I love the contrast between the lactonic note, the tonic bean and all the woods and vetiver. So unusual and intriguing. It is unisex and would grant anyone who wears this a double take. You're definitely going to stand out wearing this.
Milky and boozy in the same time, sweet and aromatic, with lactonic and woody accords, all layered on a gourmand vanillic base. Unique (at least for my collection), unisex, soft, smooth and comforting! Like a cup of warmed milk with honey and a pinch of warm spices… Palo Santo is everything for fall season. So happy that I’ve managed to get my hands on a small bottle of this and surprised that nobody talks about it anymore. Was so hyped a few years ago and for good reason. It’s so addictive but smells different than other lactonic/boozy/woody/vanillic perfumes I have or sampled so far…
