Within my collection, nothing smells like this L'envol, no one smells like this, I love it. And that certainly doesn't apply to all Cartiers! In a way a kind of sublimation of an 70's scent, but truly fantastic. Most of them appealed to me only moderately. I have a slight preference for the Eau de Toilette version, , but together they cover the whole year.

L’Envol de Cartier is an odd one but in a very pleasing way. Mathilde Laurent charts her own path with her compositions, even when the mandate is a simple oriental structure, and I adore her for it. She steps off the typical “sweet amber woods oriental” pathway, while still maintaining direction, with the use of honey stringing from top to bottom of the perfume. It’s a lovely honey accord; clean, clear, and sweet like a simple cane sugar syrup but with just enough of a funky, earthy, waxy edge to be almost civet like in the way the old school orientals often were. All of the dusty, cloudy, yellow pollen textures in the honey have been stripped away without leaving the accord at a deficit for it. The first sprays billow the honey accord into the air with lavender, artemisia, and sage. The lavender’s very gently soapy qualities accentuate the honey’s cleanliness and translucency. The artemisia and sage providing hardened greens and cool herbal greens to make sure the sweet and soapy are kept in check. The honey begins to calm down but it is still the focal point when the lavender and greens dispense, joined in this heart layer instead with violet leaf and peppercorns. The effect is largely the same, with violet leaf’s lightweight, off-gassing chemical/fuel type accord that is notably smooth in texture, not alarming as it can often be, making sure the presentation is still energetic and transparent. The fruity, piquant, and waxy peppercorns keep the honey austere. The woody dry down is interestingly floral. Slightly scratchy-powdery from the orris and musks, with the honey still ringing true with it’s translucent floral sweetness and bending guaiac’s, vetiver’s, and patchouli’s woody and earthy dimensions to a dark woody rock rose type accord. What is L’Envol? An oriental, sure - but a sweet amber woods oriental? A floral woods oriental? A fougere-oriental cross with the soapy and herbaceous top and middle? The answer is all of the above. This doesn’t neatly slot into any modern category, particularly those categories houses aim for to shift more bottles than ideas. Which also means that the aggressively mediocre tastes of the perfume consuming public are not likely going to find themselves gravitating to it. This is sad and unfortunate, but likely been proven true since Cartier have discontinued this gem. This has been a staple of mine and my partner’s daily wearers for years. Easily wearable across seasons and occasions, and nearly always earning a question or compliment - yet no one bought it. What a shame. Its achievement of lightweight translucency and cleanliness yet with a bit of oriental richness and skank makes it pretty unique in the field. Looking at my bottles in their cabinet is a bit like looking at the last dodo birds: too alluring and interesting to resist, yet too odd to live.

The batch code is 6CAB. I’ve got two sprays from a decant in my elbow crease. When I first sprayed it, I got the lavender and honey combo upfront. Kinda reminded me of Naxos but without the heavy feel. After 30 minutes, it’s becoming green and powdery with a peppery woody kick in the base. I can also smell a little floral smell in there too. If I get closer, I can still pick out the Lavender and honey. So my take on this would be, it’s like Naxos but instead of being heavy and sweeter, this is lighter, more powdery, peppery and woody. In the air, it’s more powdery lavender. Definitely has a unique and classy vibe to it. Performance wise, projection is in the medium range on me but longevity is very good as it is a long lasting scent. It leans more masculine but it can also be unisex thanks to the slightly floral powdery nature of the scent with the honey. Overall, it’s a great scent profile that doesn’t follow the mass appealing route. Although I see it as its strength, it may have been the reason for its discontinuation. I’m happy that I managed to atleast get a decant of it and experience it.

I’ve been meaning to write about this fragrance for years, and now, as my 9 ml travel-size bottle is almost gone, I finally feel I have to. The scent is very linear from start to finish. On first spray, it opens with a rich blend of florals and berries mingled with honey, reminiscent of a special variety of blueberry preserved in honey. The base is musky and slightly soapy, giving the composition a soft, clean finish. It combines a sense of vintage perfume complexity with the precision and neatness of contemporary perfumery. To my taste, the fragrance leans slightly feminine, though it remains approachable as a unisex scent. Even though I like to think I’ve smelled nearly a thousand scents, this one is truly unique. It’s a shame that this distinctive fragrance has been discontinued, though I suppose it’s not entirely surprising. Rating: 7.5/10

I've never been a huge fan of Cartier scents - I always thought they were a bit too mature and conservative for me, and honestly I think that impression was correct. I've even smelt this various time in stores and liked it but didn't love it. But after the space of many years, something drew me back to this and I decided to pull the trigger on a 100ml refill bottle which was going for cheap before they get too expensive. I'm glad I did, because this is absolutely beautiful and the first Cartier other than Declaration Parfum and Must de Cartier Pour Homme which has really spoken to me. On my skin I get a strong but not gooey or overly sweet honey note along with powdered purple flowers (iris + lavender + a strong violet impression) and musk. Decidedly anti-modern in character, this easily smells like something that could've come out in the 70s, and I love it for that. The overall impression is warm, fuzzy, soft, airy, and clean, which is exactly how I want to smell. Still sort of processing everything since I've just received it but it really goes to show you how much your tastes change on your fragrance journey. I've been seriously in the game for 10 years and I've gone through so many different phases in that time. What I initially dismissed as staid and boring when I was younger I can now recognize as a beautiful piece of olfactory artistry. This is Cartier, so the blending and the quality of the ingredients are absolutely top notch. Can't really comment on performance as of yet but my gf said the initial sprays were extremely strong and I'm getting consistent wafts off my skin. Doubt it will be a performance monster but it definitely is present. Overall, a lovely scent that I will be using quite a lot of on cool spring days!

Airy, sweet, and luminous. Honeyed notes floating over soft woods. Elegant but weightless, calm and introspective. The dreamer. The quiet mind.

I got a free sample of L’Envol. I had seen it around before, but it never really caught my interest. I am usually not the biggest fan of sweet, ambery fragrances with honey or iris notes. I tried the 1.5 ml sample and it was a pleasant surprise. It is ambery, but not overly sweet. The honey and iris are very subtle. If I had not seen the note listing, I probably would have never guessed they were in there. There is a slight powdery touch, likely from the lavender and iris, but I do not really pick up on either note individually. The whole composition feels very balanced. Even though it smells different, it somewhat reminds me of Dia Man. It has that same kind of refined vibe, and I would wear it on similar occasions. It is a very polite fragrance. It works well for the office and would also be great for a night out.

I purchased lataffa teriaq the white bottle, I know there's a whole thing about Arab perfumes needing to be aired for a while before they hit their peak, I tried the perfume before I put it away, I could remember the smell ....it was this perfume! It's for men but I bought it as a woman, I remember it. It's very smooth, bright, but that honey note as much I liked the idea of it, became over powering and made me nauseous! And that's how I discovered I shouldn't be buying things with honey. And I'm getting the same vibes with the teriaq which is marketed as unisex. It's not gourmand at all. If you like this, you'd love it. Didn't work out for me, my brother loved it. Would smell amazing on a guy close up. But I think if you are looking for this, possibly try the teriaq, there's something so similar I had to do a comparison! P.s. I'm talking about l'envol, I realised I mentioned another perfume all the way through!

I can see why they would discontinue this. Personally I do like it, and the bottle is nice. It has something in it that is masculine, but also off putting. The same thing they put in Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. I don't know if its the sage, or what exactly the herbal note is. If you like the Chanel Extreme you will likely enjoy this very much. It seems to have more depth. It's like late 80s, early 90s masculine before they started making the super sweet stuff for the children.

. . . Not a triangle. Not a pyramid. The very first shape that comes to mind is a sphere— perfectly smooth, flawlessly round. The outermost layer of this sphere opens with a soft, green-tinged iris. Minimal, restrained, never powdery or sharp. Calm, elegant, and composed. In the second layer, a mature honey accord slowly emerges, never overpowering the opening. This is where the fragrance reveals its most nostalgic and timeless character. What begins as a green-nuanced iris flower gradually transforms into a rich, multifaceted honey composition. Deep, warm, and refined. It never strains the throat or overwhelms the nose. A clear 40+ statement fragrance—confident, quiet, and dignified. Honey in its most harmonious form, rounded, balanced, and complete. 10/6.1

In my assessment, L'Envol embodies the essence of timeless masculinity, reminiscent of fragrances crafted in a bygone era. It offers a refined yet intriguingly sweeter and more woody (perhaps an unexpected combination?) interpretation of the legendary Fahrenheit. While it may not evoke intense emotions, I find its woody undertones particularly appealing, gradually revealing themselves approximately three hours after application. L'Envol is undeniably a fragrance for those who prefer a classic, tried-and-true choice, making it ideal for the workplace. However, if applied a few hours in advance, it can also serve as an excellent option for a romantic evening. Moreover, when it comes to quality, it unquestionably outshines the majority of men's fragrances released in 2016. After all, it bears the prestigious Cartier name. My rating: Worth getting to know. (5/7)

This fragrance is a clear image to show you how cartier fragrances are so underrated. This fragrance is so good and classy nobody talk about it but just imagine it’s made by chanel or dior, everyone gonna run for it. Underrated gem and a class in a bottle.

Iris, sweet honey, violet, and clean musk come together in a sheer, light, and elegant composition.

L’Envol is a fragrance that strays from the obvious. It is not a perfume to impress at first spray, but rather to be discovered little by little. Its introspective, soft and warm aura makes it almost meditative, with a serene and intellectual elegance. It is perfect for men who value discreet sophistication, personality and depth. A perfume with soul, concept and impeccable execution. L’Envol de Cartier is for those who seek to break away from the ordinary and explore fragrances with purpose, richness and lightness. An inner flight with a fragrance of contemplation. Score: 9/10 L’Envol de Cartier EDP has moderate projection — it makes its presence felt without being invasive, remaining elegant and discreet. Its longevity is above average, lasting easily 7 to 9 hours on the skin, with the amber and honeyed base extending comfortably and envelopingly. Ideal for mild or cold climates, in formal environments or occasions when silence is worth more than shouting.

Un excellent parfum. Je ne me lasse pas de le porter. J’ai un flacon recharge en plus à revendre si vous êtes intéressés . Je suis en UE

Dear Fragrantica, why you put this disgusting amberwood note in the notes piramide??It was not there before, you put it recently.Never in official Cartier site this note is mentioned. Please remove it.You did it to Declaration parfum also...

I found my favorite alternative to this after its discontinuation: Hermes Barenia. It has a very similar honey smell. Very similar clean patchouli base. Same light woodiness. But Barenia is even more unisex with the lack of violet leaf. It’s even more addictive than this. Another good masculine alternative is L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme. While different, I feel like it delivers a similar modern-yet-classic warm smell.

Does anyone know if this is being discontinued? I tried to buy it, but I could not find it anywhere.

An artisinal floral array and vetiver come off citric. A light but deep touch of honey makes grade. Good stuff.

Smells exactly like calvin klein man Dior Fahrenheit kinda Most prominent note violet leaf Summer scent

To me it smells like the honey used in vintage perfumes like givenchy gentleman originale. It is great and maybe for a 30+ year old not for me

smells like a toned-down version of a "fresh" homme intense with naxos, it's so light. Absolute horrid. I dislike the wood, maybe if they replaced it with amberwood or something else it could've been better. Shit projection but lasts very long. No. 4.5/10.

I will be on the hunt for this. I would like this in my collection. The sample I had was fantastic. Great opening with lavender. Truly fantastic blend of honey, iris, and amberwood. What's not to like. Absolutely fantastic.

I wore a jumper today and wondered what smells so good, and it was my jumper. A day ago I used one spray of L´Envol on the skin of my forearm as I was at home enjoying my day off. The opening has always been a bit too strong for me, with very woody presence. But today the drydown smells so relaxing and and a bit powdery, which might be a facet of iris? This is the first time it comes across so powdery, so I will test it some more. This is one of the most quality fragrances I own, hands down. I obtained it through online swap blindly, and I am pretty glad I did. Thank you, internet for this lovely coincidence. Otherwise I dont think I would have the gotten to it, I had no idea it existed. It is a little bit low key, which makes it even more cool.

I have Thomas De Monaco's Raw Gold and it is nothing like this. Wildly different. Not even in the same ballpark or the state. This is nice but that one is a classic. Don't get confused.

I love this! One of the most unique “masculine” marketed fragrances I’ve tried. It almost has an orange Dial soap accord! It smells clean and fresh and intimate and I keep going back to my wrist for another sniff. This is a refreshing departure from the blue fragrances or heavy oud/leather colognes that seem to be most popular.

Анонім★★★★★

Violets and musk immediately reminded me of Burberry Touch, very similar vibe but much warmer, sweeter and more annoyingly amberwoody.

Анонім★★★★★

People say this smells like Raw Gold? Not even close. This is a sickly sweet synthetic powdery affair.

I have a 100 ml bottle... Hmm... first of all, the design of the bottle is minimalistic like from a laboratory, looks like a "Soda Siphon" but nicer, the atomizer with the "big" metal ring makes pour over it when you spray, should be taller. To be sincere, it is the "finest" from my collection, but is boring, the honey is delicate and cozy and pleasant with floral green notes, and i can detect, not something woody, but smell like woody-spices, the patchouli is noticable but not like my favorite Givenchy Gentleman (which is too loud I admit that!). I like simple scents that leans to attract me even doesn't have much notes, Zara ones, like Tuberose, Pink Flambeé, or the Original and Sport versions of 14.0 and 6.0 for men, L'Evolve goes to a more sensual winter-ish direction, sophistication and simplicity sometimes yeah but... aren't enough at least on me to catch my attention, there is something needed to "pump up", maybe the patchouli accentuated or to add a liquoric or bittersweet additional note. Very unisex to a more femenine tendency, despite the slight insipidness, it evoques me something like cozy fur coats from the 80's my mum used to wear, or to put on a women's dressing table accesory to combine with the colour of the "caramel roble" furniture, but, not my type of scent simple and finest is not enough. MUCH better try Guerlain Ideal (the Original or a longer lasting version) or even DandG the One (maybe intense because lasts not much), Hugo Boss classic! (elixir parfum or the 90's classic one) L'Evolve is accesible to like cozy and refined but not that greatness at the same time, sorry

As I wrote in the review of the EDT version, this perfume was very high on my list of fragrances to test, so much so that I wanted to blindly buy it. However, I got my hands on samples, so I know that I don't need full-size bottles in my collection. However, if I had to choose one of them, it would be despite the noticeably worse EDP projection. It is richer, more viscous, more concentrated. In a sense, I got what I missed in the EDT - a more expressive, sweeter honey accord. This perfume is sweeter, the honey is more viscous and thick, like from a jar, but it is neither too sweet nor too heavy. The remaining ingredients clearly inhibit the tendency to become sticky. Already in the opening you can feel the difference from EDT. There are no citrus fruits here and instead, wood tar is accompanied by lavender and sage. It is less fresh, but equally herbal and more aromatic. Over time, the perfume becomes more iris-violet. Iris is not powdery here, it is floral, and thanks to its combination with masculine violet, L'Envol does not fall too far into women's territory. In the background of this floral and herbal mixture we still have a light but dense honey sweetness. Longevity on my skin is about 6-7 hours, while the projection is very delicate, significantly weaker than in the EDT. This perfume does not come off the skin and you can only smell it from a very close distance. This is a factor that was important in my decision not to buy this perfume. However, apart from the too intimate projection of L'Envol, what I miss here is not only more power, but also a bit more character and expressiveness. I don't need to have it, but maybe I'll come back to testing someday, maybe it will spark more. 7/10
