Initial spray is very bug sprayish. Drydown is extremely pleasant. Still doesn't beat Dans Paris which is the best from the line.

I got sucker-punched by my own expectations. What a major flop! 🙄It’s basically Rosendo Mateu Nº 5 Floral, Amber, Sensual Musk by Rosendo Mateu Olfactive Expressions—except this one is more expensive and only lasts for 3 hours, whereas Rosendo lasts for 12 hours and has a scandalous, all-day sillage.The only thing is, for the first 4 minutes, it smells like heavily sweetened black tea.

Luxurious, cold vanilla, creamy perfection. So polished, one of those ‘vanilla for smart looking, clean people tribe’. It is lovely but I am growing a bit tired of the low performance + clean soft scents

Imagine yourself laying there wrapped in a white towel, at a luxurious day spa, and everything around you is made of the freshest wood. Someone lights up an incense stick, its mild and comforting. You are getting sweet expensive vanilla oil rubbed on your shoulders, and you are in your most relaxed state of mind. The smell of the fresh wood, light incense, and perfect vanilla oil just meld together seamlessly. You want to remember this moment! If that sounds good, you need Black Tie!! I have been hearing about this for so long, every fragrance creator that talks about vanilla mentions this one. I avoided it and im not sure why. Maybe I thought theres no way it could be as good as they make it sound. It's just vanilla... come on! Ohhhh myyyyy goodness!!!!!! I smelled it in store yesterday and HAD to have it! It is so addictive, and stays on my skin for about 8 hours. It sits close to the skin, it doesnt project. So you can spray pretty heavily and you will get whiffs of it but you won't offend anyone. If you do, who cares, apparently they dont like luxurious day spas!

It is a pretty vanilla, very elegant and not overly synthetic. Iris is not very prominent, very light and complements the vanilla perfectly. It's a chic fragrance for every day. However, as every Celine fragrance, it is a very quiet fragrance that does not project very well. I am not sure if it's worth the price tag, simply because it performs more like an EDT.

Exactly my type of vanilla. The downside besides the price, is the longevity; it barely lasts on me even with overspraying on my clothes.

Celine's Black Tie is a very light, very dry, slightly vanilla, orris powder fragrance. That airy, unsweetened vanilla is in neither ambered nor gourmand. There is also no violet, heliotrope, nor any other flower. It does get lightly woody-musky in the dry down, ...which is better than the vanilla. The oakmoss note must only be a conceptual (and synthetic) nuance. The entire scent starts out unobtrusive, ...and then obstinately grows even fainter. This is a powder scent for obsessive minimalists. I can't really care about this, ...and I adore orris root. I will only recommend this as an alternative to other 'barely there' skin scents.

This has absolutely been reformulated, as some reviewers below have mentioned. I have a sample from 2022 and a brand new bottle (and sample) from 2026. Initially, I was very frustrated since what I liked about the original version was the soft powderiness of the vanilla — I primarily use vanillas for layering, so too much spice, aromatics notes, or sweetness disrupts the other fragrance. After a lot of testing though, both on skin and paper, this is what I've noticed: the difference between formulations is mainly noticeable in the opening, where 2026 Black Tie is darker, more vanillic, and less powdery than 2022; 2022 smells more elegant on paper, whereas 2026 smells more boozy and generic; 2022 and 2026 perform about the same on paper; the differences between formulations become less noticeable to me in the mid to drydown; 2026 performs significantly better on my skin; the differences between formulations is less noticeable overall on my skin. Ignoring the opening, which to me is the least important part of a fragrance since it is the most short-lived, I might actually prefer 2026 ever so slightly simply because the performance on my skin has improved. ...And to any other mildly OCD person who is considering purchasing or is doing the same experiment: I am mostly anosmic to both ambroxan and iso e super, which might impact your own experience of this perfume in addition to the obvious differences in skin chemistry. Do yourself a favor and make sure to thoroughly try out the sample Celine includes with your shipment if you're making a purchase.

This is a beautiful scent but it disappears almost immediately. It’s such a shame considering it smells amazing

*Tried it at store* Quite familiar but I can't recall which fragrance is remind of. Warm & cozy vanilla with powdery touches. Luxurious. Feels like having a vanilla SPA if that makes sense. Nothing groundbreaking though. They gave me an official sample. I will test out more & update.

Black Tie... What can I say... This is the very embodiment of class. I feel that it is genderless and truely glorious. Anyone can pull this off. It is creamy vanilla caressing silky orris butter with a fluffy back drop of Musc. Absolutely gorgeous.

This is a beautiful perfume but on my skin it pulls into sweet marshmallowy gourmand territory. And I have exited my gourmand era, so it’s not for me. But it is well composed and I can see why it is so loved, it’s just way too sweet for my taste now.

I have a few decants ones I finish them I will buy a full bottle. I hope I find it on discounters sites if not I will be from the website. I want to try the other ones they have l. I will buy the sample pack.

Drydown is very masculine leaning

Nice vanilla at the opening then turns out to heavy mossy bitter smell . For me it smells more masculine & I don’t like it at all .

This smells like high quality vanilla and freshly printed US dollar bills. Absolute banger!

I know people say this is overhyped, but it is the MOST beautifully composed vanilla powdery perfume ever. I have tried the dupes and they don't even come close. I have a 10ml, but I dream one day of owning a 100ml. Fucking gorgeous.

This is perfectly unisex and can be worn year around and for any occasion. I can pick out each accord listed. The moss, orris, and cedar combined create a subtle suede scent. This is soapy, comforting, and sophisticated. Something I’d love to smell on a man and something I enjoy wearing while lounging. The performance and scent profile don’t justify the high price tag though. I have a decant and I won’t be purchasing a full bottle when this runs out. Update: I purchased a bottle for my fiance to wear as his wedding day fragrance. I’ve fallen in love with this fragrance and like that I can smell my decant whenever I’m missing him.

Overhyped tbh i don’t see the appeal it’s a old person smelling vanilla

the DUA version is extremely strong and projects, but it’s always sold out. Got mine on Mercari

Wow, this has been noticeably reformulated - @scentasart (below) is spot on, although to me the quality and longevity are still fine. I received a new manufacturer's sample today and it smells markedly different than before, much closer to popular darker vanillas, e.g. Eau Duelle edp or even Babycat etc, but less distinctive than either. The gourmand, ice-creamish and bourbon-boozy aspects of vanilla are much more present now. Before (also from a manufactuer's sample, purchased circa early 2025) I would have described this as a dry iris-vanilla, papery and hazy. This new version is good if you're into boozy 'date-night' vanillas, and eventually in the dry down a fainter version of the original iris-musk base begins to be a little more evident, but it's not anything like as special as the previous version and the style isn't something I'd wear. Worth being aware of this if you're planning to purchase any of the Celine Haute Parfumerie Line, I guess, because there may have been changes to others in the line-up also. At least I still have my travel-size of Nightclubbing...

ETA: I love how so many of the fragrances that I hate at first sniff become major long-time loves and conversely, how "love at first sniff" perfumes become repugnant after wearing them for a few days. This is a case study in that. I got cigarettes at first and was put off. But I could not stop smelling my wrists. So I tried it the next day and then the next. I am totally smitten. There is a depth to this vanilla that allows for sweetness and darkness to co-exist. I love it. Original review: The opening is a blast of cigarettes and a leather chair. It settles into something resembling vanilla - I guess? It's polished, dark, and smokey (which might just be how my nose perceives moss with cedar and musk). I do kind of like it. But I don't get the hype on this one.

Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka was a top 10 in my collection of over 150, but this has just dethroned it, for me. Black Tie is a more mature and refined take on Myrrh and Tonka. It was a blind buy as it’s not sold anywhere close to Orlando and it was sold out everywhere on our last European trip (even testers were out).

Just exquisite. This is the most sophisticated, polished and elegant vanilla that I’ve ever smelled. Very French. To me it is the polar opposite of Babycat, which I also adore dearly. Babycat is much louder, decadent, and out there with amazing sillage; whereas Black Tie kinda just hovers above the skin and it creates a scent bubble and wraps me inside in such a wonderful way. Funny thing is that I can’t smell BT much right after application, however an hour later maybe it gets warmed up by my skin and I smell this beautiful cloud of vanilla that’s so soft and effervescent. CELINE’s perfume in general doesn’t perform extremely well in hot weather, but man it is magical in cooler seasons, that chilled, cool, crisp and herbaceous vibe. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Dark elegant vanilla. I love Babycat and this definitely smells similar but I admit this is slightly more refined and aptly named. Both have a dark vanilla and frothy cola essence but Black Tie has an elegant chocolatey accord that Babycat doesn’t have. Unisex with outstanding performance. Delusional thoughts: I once layered Nasomatto Pardon, with Paris Corner Rifaaqat (the only good dupe out there) and it was very similar to Black Tie and long lasting too; try if you don’t believe me.

This smells like an extremely expensive, beautifully soft and powdery take on Dr. Pepper. As if you’re talking to the most elegant woman at a black tie affair, and you’re catching whiffs of both her soft, alluring vanilla perfume and the Dr. Pepper and whiskey (top shelf, of course) she’s holding. My husband, who knows nothing about perfume and usually thinks things smell like either “flowers” or “that one you wore in college” immediately also said, “Huh. Dr. Pepper.” Make of that what you will. 🤷🏻♀️ I like it.
