Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere (2015)

I am not a fan of the OG Chanel No. 5, however, L'eau Premiere has captured my attention if not my heart just yet. I sprayed it on my arm from a tester about three hours ago, and I am enchanted with the scent that keeps wafting up. It is a clean yet musky scent that smells like sexy skin. I recall reading somewhere that Coco wanted her perfume to smell like a woman rather than flowers... well, this does exactly that. I am trying my best to describe this scent but it is difficult. Imagine a healthy woman who eats well and drinks lots of water. She's been outside maybe running errands. Her skin isn't sweaty, but lived-in for the day. Maybe she sat out in the sun drinking her coffee or afternoon tea. Something like that. Don't ask me about the notes other than the aldehydes, which were quite prominent upon initial application. Powdery aldehydes. They eventually gave way to the salty/sweet musky fragrance I am smelling now. Full disclosure: For the first hour or so, I smelled like a Mom. Which is not a bad thing, but rather a distinct thing. Must have been those aldehydes.

This is class in a bottle, a perfect cross between the original no. 5 and the l'eau which is the lightest end on the spectrum and very clean. Eau premiere has the right amount of sparkliness, powderiness and chanel no. 5 dna, it's incredibly versatile yet perfectly light. Personally I don't know why but I imagine a ballerina dancing alone to classical music, this perfume has that type of effervescence and femininity. Living in nyc and as somebody fairly new to perfume, I would worry about wearing a fragrance that is too popular, but this is one of those scents that evokes something different for everyone and it is unique in its own right, like opening a window into a vintage world where timeless elegance never goes out of style.

The most beautiful perfume I've ever smelled. There's lightness and charm over depth, and warmth. So easy to wear, but not boring. It feels very human and without pretense. I love the way it blooms in the heat, but eager to try it in the colder months too. I could see this one adapting interestingly to every season. Will need to write more later

Sparkly, effervescent. A tall, cold, dewy Collins glass of sugar-free citrus soda imbibed on a balcony overlooking calm, turquoise pool water. But you’re in a three-piece suit at all times with the collars of the white dress-shirt rumpled and the top button popped open. This is the exact feeling this imparts to me. That persistent alkalinity, that soapy bitterness in the backdrop that imparts a distinct mouthfeel to the citrus. Looking forward to sampling the original Chanel No.5 someday because I can see why this such a perfumery classic.

a wonderful perfume! yesterday I finally decided to buy a flacon of the new version Chanel No5 Eau Premiere Edp 3.4oz100mL. and it didn't disappoint ! this from one who has smelled Chanel No5 for the first time in 1974. then there was still civet in it and it was an Edt. I had immediately acquired it. I remember dripping it on my pillow as I then heavenly floated away into the night. I can surely attest that both Chanel No5 and the Chanel No5 Eau Premiere (2015) are still very close to the perfume I smelled in 1974. especially the Eau Premiere is an exquisite perfume with a lovely Ylang Ylang accord plus the dancing Aldehydes which I never grow tired of. they lend No5 Eau Premiere (as All No's 5) a Lift and a specific athmospheric dissipation. an Airiness as also a Cleanness with Super Chique demeanour. I think Chanel succeeded where other brands failed. to maintain the high quality in her Perfumography as it always had and for the last fifty years also, still has. my all time favorite will always be Chanel Coco (1984). but I also have No5 Edp, No19 Edp, No19 Poudrée, Cristalle Edp, Les Exclusifs Misia & Bois des Iles. I had Gardénia, bought in the rue Cambon. I have Allure and Allure Sensuelle. I had Coco Noir. (I have the parfum Coromandel 0.5oz15mL). (still more ... Coco Mademoiselle Intense, Gabrielle L'Essence Edp, No5 L'Eau Crème Pour Les Mains [the Egg). I will always be a Chanel-person. I loved Karl Lagerfeld and all his antics and Vitriolic Tongue and et cetera. but this perfume is so elegant and particularly a Hovering, Emulsifying, Emollient, Evaporating Phantomous Presence in the Air and your surroundings and has as well Présence as Staying Pow(d)er. it is a Magnificent Perfume in its own right. last night in bed I could identify ALL the notes. Happiness and Bliss and endless Sophistication as embodied in this 'parfum Époustoufflante, Effervescente, Éblouissante et Ravissante' !!

Aldehydic heaven. Light, cheerful, sparkling version of Chanel N°5. The most similar to L'Eau version with minor differences in my opinion. Even more fizzy-sparkling with citrus sheen to the floral abstract notes. Has powdery notes that are missing in L'Eau. Very elegant, dame, strong will, cheerful feminine knockout. The first Premiere is more a seductress, this is energy bomb.

My mother wears the classic Chanel No. 5. Years ago, when I was still young (around 25), I didn’t like this fragrance. Over time, however, I grew to love it, and now I associate it with my mother. Some people say it’s a perfume for older women. No, it isn’t. It’s simply the highest level of perfumery. You have to grow into this fragrance. You need to train your nose to truly understand and appreciate it. I’ve already reached that point. Even so, I don’t feel quite mature enough to wear the original version myself, which is why I chose the Chanel No. 5 Eau Première edition—and I couldn’t have made a better choice. The veil of aldehydes blends beautifully with my skin. It is the scent of a luxurious, elegant, and clean woman. My husband said that I don’t smell as if I’m wearing perfume; rather, it smells as though it’s simply my natural scent. That’s exactly how I feel when I wear it. I feel at home in this fragrance. I love perfumes, but this one is something more, and I think it always will be. And when it no longer feels like enough, I’ll get the original No. 5.

I'm sorry but this is the best scent ever created.

I just applied N5 Premiere after a couple of months not wearing it. It makes me want to cry. The beauty of this scent transcends anything I could write - it is truly an abstraction, the smell of beige cashmere, freezing wind, hot winter noon sun. No other scent ever created could be as beautiful, polished and dreamy. Undoubtedly a masterpiece.

i like this!! i think this might be my favorite from the n5 line, it still smells like n5 but a lot softer and prettier imo

I like the softness of this. Keeps the florals. L’eau leans more citrusy. Great for a warm day. Or a day you hope warms up.

I bought my bottle back in 2015 when this version came out. Eh...wasn't impressed and almost was sorry I purchased it. BUT I decided to try this today. 11 years later. Maceration is the key here. It smells nothing like I remember. It's glorious.... not sure if it really fits my personality, but it is a gorgeous scent. If you hate it at first, let it sit. Maybe not 11 years, but.... at least 6 months! :)

I don't really like this one, which is surprising for me as I usually like nearly all flankers of N5. The first Premiere was so well crafted, airy, citrusy, dreamy and delicate, unfortunately this one is the opposite, a bit strong, kind of artificial smelling with that yellow flower, powder and linear trail. Even n5 edp is more versatile as it develops and changes during the time.

Eau Premiere is an updated Chanel No 5 EDP. One with the more polarizing notes toned down or eliminated. ...in other words, much less powder (and peach?), and no oakmoss or patchouli to speak of. Any remaining vetiver isn't doing that much either. What remains is only the basics of aldehydic florality; a bouquet of flowers, sandwiched between an aliphatic cloud and a comforting base of vanille et santal. Indeed, these changes don't make No 5 Eau Premiere inherently unpleasant or wrong, ...but such declawing and simplification does make the result more forgettably anodyne. All the same, if one doesn't like the original Chanel No 5 EDP, by all means, do not wear it. No one is beholden to any scent profile, regardless of popularity or historicity. However, a question remains, if one bears no devotion to the original Chanel No. 5, why should he or she stay so tightly loyal to the Chanel No 5 brand at all? Why not just set sail into the wide ocean of perfumes and try another conceptually unrelated floral aldehyde? Perhaps the familiarity of the bottle, or tradition, or just the abstract idea of No 5, is enough to keep some wearers close by.

I finally got my hands on a bottle of this! I went in with an open mind but was expecting it to still feel more like the classic No5. It does a little, but this is such a fresh and modern take ! I really like it! It feels light and airy, understated and elegant, and so much more wearable than the original. I like the original but I have to be in the mood for it. It’s iconic but I feel like I only enjoy it on certain situations. This one could be a gorgeous signature scent! I happen to adore ylang ylang and it does give it such a lovely creamy feel. I definitely get the comparison to lotions. Clean, classy and well groomed is exactly the sense that this fragrance brings for me. I don’t pick up a bunch of florals even though there are florals in here. It’s incredibly well blended and hard to pick up individual notes! I really like this one!

Luxury Nivea thick cream in the blue jar. In the best way possible. I think it´s the ylang-ylang note. Once you smell it, you can´t unsmell it and I personally love it!

Although I prefer Eau de Chanel 5 because of its citrusy notes, this is a beautiful perfume as well. I get a lot of yellow florals in the opening, even some sweet spices as well. It has a typical soapy dry down for Chanel 5 series, if you like that you will enjoy this one too.

Horrible, overwhelmingly soapy, almost like shampoo in the eyes, with no discernible notes. I hate this so much. Aldehydes SUCK oh my god.

Imo this is a light, refreshing scent. Can be worn all year round. I can wear this in the day thru evening and the scent is still there. I have different fragrances of Chanel and I must say I'm satisfied with them all. Just so you know, my signature scent is Coco Chanel. Has been for over 30 years.

I first smelled Chanel No 5 eau Premiere at Ulta and thought immediately of champagne. I bought a little sample off eBay and tried it out on my skin, unfortunately all I smell is powder, sandalwood and maybe the aldehydes. Now I don’t really like sandalwood except for when it’s with coconut, but this is definitely more tolerable for me than other sandalwood perfumes I’ve smelled. I will take into account that this sample could be old, so I might try it again in store.

Eau Premiere is sensational. It embraces and sparkles and is eternally elegant.

Never a No 5 girl… Eau Premiere intrigued me back in 2008. I regret not buying it… Now this one is available, I might just do that. It takes the best of No 5 and makes it modern. The OG is too old fashioned for me. This one smells like diamonds… a thick line diamonds around your neck. As if you are on the red carpet with $$$ worth of Tiffany on loan. Actually, the Tiffany perfume should have smelled like this (total disappointment).

Just Wow. Just wow... I'm blown away. Hands down one of the most beautiful, delicate perfume ever ! And not just the smell, but How it smells too, how it projects... Timeless masterpiece for real and serious perfumery enthusiasts. From Chanel line this is my most favourite just behind the 19 EDP. Bravo Chanel.

I've been looking for a good, quality perfume for a very long time. When I smelled Chanel No. 5 EDT I was mesmerized And the saleswoman offered a more contemporary version and gave it to me, just wow! The smell of cleanliness, fresh, sophisticated.. Something I haven't smelled before. I can't explain exactly what it is, but it's completely different. I discovered that you have to spray it a little further away from the body and that way it's perceived better.

I love aldehydes. There is something “Chanel-y” going on there. Class.

I am so in love with this version of Chanel No. 5. Over the years I’ve had the EDT and then EDP. I kept buying the EDT as it felt fresher to me and is beautiful on my skin. On a whim, I decided I had to have the Eau Premier. This is my second day with it and I’m in awe with how sparkling and beautiful it is! Happiness in a bottle. I have many perfumes but No.5 will always have my heart!

Luminous, softer, more creamy and easier to like version of the original. Feels like drinking a sparkling champagne while sitting at the beach bar in luxurious SPA hotel, with a lovely sea view. Very feminine, elegant and classy perfume :)

It comes across as slightly spicy on top of the aldehydes. The jasmine and aldehyde mix is too strong for a casual young fragrance. I see this more for a working woman who prefers intense, "serious" perfumes, or someone who wants a slightly brighter version of No. 5.

I spent few days in here and came across for a very first time to the concept of macerating. No one has ever told me about this, seriously! I realized that I very often get sample, I am using it for a week or going to the same shop multiple times, so when I buy the full size I am disappointed. So I leave it aside for … I don’t know how long, sometimes year or two. And then to find I’m in love with it! I sniffed this Chanel few days ago, it is a gift I made to my mother a decade ago. I got fascinated by the way it turned out! It’s so lovely, I can’t and won’t try to describe it, but I’m in love! I may steal it from her, but keep it as a secret. And leave your perfumes aside for a while. I feel like I just found a new continent with this revelation!
