This gives rich bitch vibes, and I wear it accordingly. It opens in a gag me sort of way that makes me feel dominated, then dries down to a sparkly, icy spicy floral wall of uber confidence. Stays pleasantly pungent on me all day. I'm not wearing Cristalle for compliments, I'm wearing it so people get out of my way. I must have full glam going on when I rock this frag - hair blown out, full face of makeup and high heels with my best diamond jewelry. My bottle is from the '90's for those curious.

a surprise I discovered again within my collection of perfumes. you never think about the phenomenon of 'a collection' until it is one... this particular perfume stands hidden in sight for more than ten, and I even guess fifteen years. what a surprise then yesterday, when I spritzed it on my pulse. as always an accumulation of prejudices and misconceptions stands in the way before you actually have sprayed it and at once I was surrounded by the scent of a beautiful perfume. I guess it sits midway between the Cristalle Edt from since 1974 and the new Cristalle Edp from 2023. I knew of her reputation of an Ice Queen and within this particular edition she still is, and more. first, oh miracle, I get the scent of FRUITS... the ones I thought I could never smell. but as in 'Le Parfum De Thérèse' from Edmund Roudnischka, I was engulfed by the irrepressable scent of Melon, an aroma that can make me gag, but not here as neither in Thérèses perfume. Peach is a fruit that I CAN smell in perfumes and which also is an element of the Chanelissime, and last evening I struggled to smell the 'mandarin-orange' and at least I thought I smelled it. the Opening is already quite a thing and is Chanel Through and through, along with Jacques Polge's virtuosity to blend the initial notes all in where they slowly morph into the Heart (and simultaneously the Base) of the perfume: Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Vetiver and Tonnes of Oakmoss. so if it starts somewhat elementally, then synesthetically it dwindles into a heavenly alchymic perfume of (not Warmth, not the Orient, not an Amberoide St. Petersbourg Chamber) but almost the Glaciers Ernest Beaux visualized in 1921 and gave them the eternal form they already embody themselves. now we had Henri Robert in 1974 concipiating another cold and rugged perfume, which initial vision then was taken over by Jacques Polge. and he blended the ingredients so well that this is a fullfletched and chic perfume of Chanel standing in her own space of Ice and Tundra, also habitualizing les Salons de Mode de Paris. it is a lovely sensation to be able to wear this fabulous perfume. the base of Oakmoss and Vetiver give the perfume substantiality next to the heavenly fleetingness of her opening. all in all a magical perfume.

Ahhh, such a beauty is my ice queen 🧊👑🍃🪾. Opens crisp, watery cucumber, grassy vetiver, with recognizable juicy orange; soon blooming into the luxurious (not your loud or screechy), elegant, and soapy-clean 90s Chanel floral DNA at the heart. The final drydown is earthy, mossy, sun-drenched (aldehydic) woods wrapped in melon-tipped jasmine. Fresh, yet earthy. Chanel Cristalle is the first thaw after a long, cold winter bottled. Supreme and sophisticated example of a classic floral chypre. The natural oak moss in this 1994 made formula, before IFRA restrictions wiped its use, is everything. I bought a sealed in box 100ml off eBay a few years ago, and it still hasn't turned, all of the notes and nuances are preserved perfectly. A welcome olfactory vacation from modern day highly synthetic reformulations & the cheaply made vanilla-centered gourmands assaulting my senses nowadays. They don't make them like this anymore, and I'd be sad if this fragrance didn't make me so happy. Chanel fragrances do not get the love they deserve. Timeless, classy, elegant, and well put together fragrances for classy people. The hate N°5 gets on social media is a by-product of group thought from a clueless minority, because N°5 is a study in timeless elegance as well. Old money trumps any weird, overpriced niche concept BS. Those who know, know. 🫶🏻

I was thinking about this Chanel scent I loved in the 90s and mistakenly thought it was Cristalle (I was thinking of Allure) and bought a lot of manufacturers samples off eBay. I don't know if they're a reformulation or if they're even legit. The juice is brown and it has lots of vetiver so looking at the notes, I'm guessing if they are real, they are probably the older version. Anyway, I put this on around bedtime to test it out and was instantly repulsed. I was expecting the soft freshness of Allure and instead got a wet overfilled ashtray in the middle of a greenhouse. But then something switched and I couldn't stop smelling my arm. The stale cigarettes turned into this beautiful dry earthy vetiver that is balanced by this green freshness and I love it. This perfume reminds me of a 1960s Princess Margaret from The Crown (of course, I didn't know her and I'm not British, so I just know how she was portrayed in the show)- chain smoking and a little rebellious yet always elegant royalty. I can see how this scent can be divisive, based on my own reaction to the opening. For that reason, I don't wear this in public. Like the first time I tried it, I like to wear this to bed. The green freshness (after the ashtray opening) helps me feel extra fresh and clean after my nighttime shower, and the earthy vetiver and oakmoss in the dry down works to calm me as I fall asleep. I got this in the fall, and once it got cold, I didn't like it. I couldn't tell you why, but maybe it's not warm enough for the winter. However, now that it's starting to warm up again, the magic is back. I should also add that I did get the EDT version and don't like that nearly as much because it lacks the dry basenotes that makes me love this version so much. I'm glad I got so many samples of this even though it wasn't what I was looking for, and I'm also a little glad that the EDP is no longer available to buy in stores here in the US because I really don't need to be spending that much money to buy something I wont wear out of the house.

I'm sad to say this smells like celery on me. Celery and melon. No orange, no flowers, no peach. It doesn't smell like Sycomore, a vetiver heavy scent from the same brand. Cristalle is a study in contrasts: a dry vegetal herb and wet aquatic melon. It doesn't work for me on my skin. Maybe this smells better on someone else. After a few hours, the celery fades and instead the fragrance becomes a faint, soapy floral.

Thankfully I only try it three times and not risked a full bottle. Cristalle edp (of the blck cap/first flankr) depresses me to the core because it reminds me of a gathering in the 90's at night time, with people in their 40s on their rough suits (because even though in the 90's suits look good, usually the material felt rough), and having their kids feeling lost. When streets were not that illuminated and women were tired working their A off for the family and still submissive to "delicate" men. The fruits here I think just makes the earthy notes be more wearable. You don't feel fruits per se at all. N°19 is still my favorite vintage perfume. Super unique, versatile, clean and classy.

An interesting case — citrus, with something animalic in the background… a fresh scent that’s hard to classify. Might be worth comparing to Sundazed?

Cristalle EDP (vintage splash version) begins with the lush and glamourous opening that feels like Cristalle EDT is all dolled up for the ball. The scent then transitions to a creamy, slightly fruity floral, oakmoss base. Intinially, I do not like the base so much but warming up to it a little bit after a couple of wears. The similarity with Diorella EDT is very very clear but Diorella is a lot more complex while Cristalle EDP is straight forward and more linear. Personally, I think the EDT is far superior.

So classy, miss its quality.

Having smelt both this version and the newer 2023 EDP version, they are different, but not drastically. Weirdly this version is still available to buy where I live along with the 2023 version. Cristalle in both versions has a unique coldness to it. The older version is greener, it smells more herbal almost like tomato leaves. It has a watery quality from the melon and peach missing in the 2023 version. The florals also don't feel as pronounced in this version and linger in the background. On my skin this becomes very citrus, green, cold and powdery. Almost like a citrus and wet version of No19. Please note that citrus notes always becomes very prominent on my skin. Personally I actually prefer the newer version as it's lighter but it's a gorgeous fragrance in both iterations. This version feels like night time while the newer version feels like early morning.

Cristalle is so much better than No19....i can easily wear this in the heat of the summer or cold in the winter.... dress it up or dress it down, confident boosting scent like any other Chanel fragrance....extremely unisex in my opinion

I love Cristalle Eau Verte very much, so I bought this one as well. To me, the only thing these two share in common is that they do not smell like the typical Chanel perfume you encounter in shopping malls. Cristalle Eau Verte is crisp and youthful and most suitable for warm weather. Its white floral scent mostly comes from magnolia. Cristalle is smoky and sophisticated and works better with colder weather. Its white floral scent mostly comes from jasmine. Both have reasonably strong sillage. The old-versioned Eau Verte lasts longer than a day and Cristalle lasts close to a work day. I love them both, and I think I'll get them again after I finish them up.

Dusty melon and high quality hojicha tea leaves mingle silently..a woman who prioritizes her peace, phone on do not disturb.

First, when I purchased this parfume it seemed to me almost masculine and non wearable. But now I am almost in love with it. Gorgeous peach with dry notes of vetiver creates fantastic aura of nobility and self-confidence. Definitely a masterpiece!

Анонім★★★★★

This perfume is high class and such a timeless beauty. The cool tart fruityness of the top notes perfectly mingle with the mossy undertones. There is a little fire under the ice given by sultry Ylang-Ylang. A confidence booster when you need to be impeccable. So sophisticated and absolutely Chanel.

I do like this and believe it or not, it reminds me of Mitsouko…. I experience the real oak moss (both bottles I have are vintage) as celery. I’m sure it’s just because these are new to me. Once my palate acclimates to the note, I know my perception will shift. I LOVE the melon in this composition and I wish it were more pronounced. I do enjoy the juxtaposition between the dry, bitter, “tea leaves” green experience and the juicer, sweet melon and citrus. The bitter green aspect is more in the opening and I find CRISTALLE becomes more powdery on me as it dries down. For a 90’s fragrance it isn’t loud. This is Chanel after all and it’s incredibly sophisticated. I have a 30 Ml splash from the 90’s. I would love to find something like this but with a more juicy ripe melon notes and some toned down greens. message me with suggestions.

Retro chypre isn’t too heavy. I’m not a fan of oak moss but I could still wear this occasionally. Reminds me of my mother’s vintage Lauren.

I haven't owned or worn Cristalle EDP in 20 years, but I just received a new bottle from Paris (You can't get it here in the US right now. Also, it is rebottled in the same bottle as No 5) and it's as good as I remember. The opening is still green. like I remember, but I also notice more citrus. The dry down is more powdery than I remember, but still has that green woody blend that I love. Such a classic. I am so excited to have it in my collection again.

Though this isn't my absolute most favorite fragrance in the whole world, I quite like Chanel's Cristalle eau de parfum and I like it a fair bit more than Chanel's Cristalle Verte fragrance. This is slightly feminine leaning fragrance to my nose and it smells very natural and mossy with a good dose of floral. It's very old money and smells like something that someone who is into the "stealth wealth" aesthetic would really like to wear fragrance-wise. I get the mandarin orange in the top notes, introducing some zesty lightness to this fragrance. That gives way very quickly though (say around 20 minutes) to the juicy, sweet and fruity melon and peach, which adds a youthful flair to this fragrance. I also then smell a sort of earthy smelling jasmine and a banana-ripe ylang ylang. It smells vintage and very old-school. I would have loved one more floral though, like honeysuckle for example. The base notes are my least favorite stage of this fragrance because of the heavy, dirty and bitter smelling oakmoss in the base and just a tad too much vetiver adding to that dusty and woody smell as well. I would have liked this perfume so much better if it wasn't for that and maybe if oakmoss was replaced with musk instead. Longevity was quite good though at 7 and a half hours of wear and a happy medium sillage on my skin. It is elegant and I could imagine a woman from New England wearing this to the country club in either spring or summer during the day. But I could imagine this woman wearing this even more during the fall while she's wearing a soft cashmere sweater, a short string of pearls and pearl studs or diamond studs in her ears. For all of that's just been written above, I give this fragrance a 7 and a half out of 10. Not something I'd wear but definitely something I would buy and gift to green, chypre and fougere perfume lovers.

The EdT and EdP smell very different to my nose. The EdT is more ‘dewy’ smelling, more feminine, youthful and floral-fresh in comparison, the EdP smells more dry, mature and unisex…it smells like those dry Chinese green tea leaves that come in tin cans. Yes, green tea leaves. My friend commented the same when I was testing it. I’m not getting the florals, it’s the dry and bitter-leafy-green nuance that dominates the composition even after it dries down, mildly sweetened with a touch of melon. Chinese green tea leaves and dehydrated honeydew. It’s not unpleasant, but I personally would never wear it. I think it would smell nice and comforting on a man and would probably be fitting for a no-nonsense career woman. The EdT and Eau Verte versions are both fantastic though, super refreshing for summer days, love those, can’t believe the EdP smells so different. I’m disappointed because I thought it would be a longer lasting and more potent version of the EdT, but it is definitely not.

Weird that the only version we can get here in Indonesia at Chanel boutiques is the EDP only. So it is still available here.

Hi, I'm new to Fragrantica...I joined so I could ask if anyone can tell me where I can buy an authentic bottle of Chanel Cristalle EDP. It's sold out everywhere in the US, and I am leery of buying on Amazon or Ebay. It's my favorite scent, and I am so sad to learn that it has been--or will soon be--discontinued. Thank you!

Анонім★★★★★

My mom has this, so I sprayed a tad bit on today from her bottle, hehe. This always came off earthy and woodsy to me but the longer it sits the more I can smell the jasmine and ylang ylang. If they're discontinuing it, I would love to buy a bottle somewhere. Smells nice and 90s, lasts all day and makes me feel sophisticated and a little more grown up. Also, side note: I wear Voce Viva by Valentino very often, and imagine my delight when I looked up the notes for Cristalle and discovered it also has a mandarin orange top note and oakmoss base! Like mother, like daughter :)

I’ve heard from YouTuber Super Dacob that Chanel will probably discontinue this classic gem. He explained that this perfume was not included in the price increase and that can only mean one thing, discontinuation! I have so many memories from my youth with this incredible perfume. I’ll never forget the commercial with gorgeous Claudia Schiffer in the nineties.

Анонім★★★★★

I love this perfume but my taste has changed. I was fortunate to buy a large bottle right after it got discontinued. I’m willing to sell it’s barely used 3.4oz bottle.

Анонім★★★★★

Unfortunately this turns so ashy on me and doesn't last very long, I also strongly dislike the overall design of the bottle as it looks cheap, fingerprint magnet and the "cap" once removed reveals the most unseemly atomiser. I do enjoy the scent but I can't handle the presentation, if only this was housed in the same bottle as 5, 19 and coco...

The perfume equivalent of looking at candlelight through glass. Luminous and round, less green/citrusy/fizzy than the EDT.

A trip to the 90s and then some! Found a reasonably priced vintage, and I'm tickled about it. It starts out very melon forward. I'm not into all of the fruits and was made nervous. Not a very bright or aquatic melon, this is hefty. It's a whole melon sitting in the sun, uncut. If melon is on your no fly list, you probably won't like this. But, if you go back and forth with the note, this might be for you. Remains throughout. The rest of the fragrance morphs as the day goes on getting thicker and sweeter before turning mossy. The moss isn't sharp or acrid on me. To me, moss done this way smells expensive. I think the mix of grown up greens with melon is fun since they're kind of opposites in my imagination. I could see both a cool young 90s grunge girl and her mother wearing this. It might work well on a man as well.

Long ago I wrote a review for this unsurpassed creation. I woke up today and felt it was time to revisit it. Close your eyes and imagine to wake up at a lovely, secluded cottage high up on a mountain. The world outside your window is covered in white with dots of bluish green popping out of it. The house is still, but a crackling fire is murmuring its song somewhere, and you both can hear it and feel its warmth. You quickly dress up in thermal clothing, but not so fast as to forget to wear a couple of spritzes of Cristalle. You then rush downstairs to the door, opening it slowly as to savour in anticipation the cold hug you'll get from the unspoilt air. You close your eyes and inhale happily and deeply, slowly, the crisp air. And then you reopen your eyes, caressing with a glance the everlasting bluish green that sprouts in thousands different scents all around, the glittering white shining in your eyes. The warmth of your body brings up the fiery oakmoss and cold, juicy melon notes, from inside your jumper to your nose, and immediately you feel part of that magical and enchanting moment as if it did swallow you whole. An everlasting happy memory is etched now in your soul, not just your mind. Cristalle.

Although I am not a Chanel fan I loved Cristalle Eau Vert very much. It was my first luxury perfume and I was saddened when the last drops were gone and I realized it couldn't be restocked. Recently I came across the Cristalle version and figured I should give ot a go. The first wiff reminded me of my beloved Eau Vert so much. They have the same earthy, cold, unapologetic vibe. Of course Cristalle is way less citrusy and more mossy that Eau Vert but it's glorious. This will be my go to scent.
