I came to check on this old love of mine and reading the commentary I am wondering what the peeps are talking about. This beautiful aldehydic creation is unique and powerful. Smelling it you understand "flower" without being able to name which one. It plays with the idea with great confidence. I am thinking of YSL Paris, not because there is a likeness, but because Paris also plays with an idea of a rose, creating a trancendent rose within the bottle. Just lite CDG2 makes a hologram of an abstract flower. I always get complimented when wearing this, my biggest compliment collectors otherwise being Mendittorosa Le Mat, YSL Champagne and Burberry Woman.

Mark Buxtons 1999 masterpiece does not just stay on the skin. It actually changes the air around you. A lot of people think CdG 2 is an industrial scent.. To me it is a very emotional and unique fragrance. It is an example of how two things that are completely different can work together. The start of the scent is very strong and striking. It has an frozen smell, along with a bitter smell from the angelica root. There is also an smoky smell from the black tea.. The really amazing part is what happens next. The Sumi ink accord is not harsh or chemical at all. It is actually very smooth and a little sweet. It is especially nice when it is combined with the magnolia, which smells bright and beautiful. The floral smell is not traditional or pretty. It is like a structure that has been preserved. As the scent settles it starts to smell darker and more quiet. The ink smell slowly mixes with a mineral incense smwll. There are also smells of vetiver and cedarwood. It smells like paper drying in a room where resins have been stored. I think CdG 2 is brilliant. It is an unique scent that you can still wear every day. It is a masterpiece that pushes the limits of what perfumes can be. I would give it a score. I love Mark Buxtons CdG 2 so much that I will always have a bottle of it. Mark Buxtons CdG 2 is just that good.

Confusingly Beautiful Opens with some harsh soapy, spicy tea notes. Almost like a cold musk? It's what I imagine the nostromo from alien would smell like. A slightly industrial environment, but still comes across as lived in. As it dries down, the ink note becomes really prominent with a floral undertones. The incense comes through pretty heavy at the end and balances out the rest of the notes. The dry down is so alluring, unlike anything I've smelled before. I can't really call it pretty, nor fresh. It isn't quite clean. It's synthetically human. A great signature scent for those wanting something unique. It's not everyone's cup of tea and not safe for a blind buy.

This smells so rank. Blind bought this based on all the creative reviews I saw here. So rank I can't wear it. Just smells like old lady, sickly perfumey and nauseating. Definitely not unisex. Even as a lady I don't want to wear this.

I really wanted to like this one. However to me it’s genuinely headache inducing and I had to swallow my vomit as I was driving and my car’s AC kept wafting it from my wrist to my face. To me it smells like robotic body odor. Like if robots could sweat and produce body odor that’s what this smells like. Some people might be into it, it just wasn’t for me.

This perfume absolutely SINGS on a sunny, bright, cool spring day.

To me the opening is super harsh and smells somewhat cheap, but the dry down is phenomenal. Unlike anything i've ever smelled before. Highly recommend if you want an avant-garde fragrance on a budget.

oh Lord, how I love this fragrance. I've been looking for something unique for spring/summer, but all this YSL and others were just boring to me. Nothing outstanding. Same shi in different bottles. Then I found cdg2. I had to grow up for this scent mentally. It wasn't love at first smell, but rn I can say it's my signature scent. I know everyone has a different taste, but It's something worth trying. If you don't like it, cool, but give it a shot. You won't regret. I thought longevity was ass, but It turned out I just go noseblind after an hour. People can smell it on me 5-6 hours after spray. Not so bad.

bipolarism in a bottle! just shivered me from head to toe. opens with sharp dirty aromatics, also after- shower clean vibes. I thought its just meeh at that point. unisex. this vibes continues for 5-6 hours. than such a plot twist. imagine a musk, it smells like human skin. smells like sex. smells like your lover in the morning. literally felt like smelling a human, my favourite human’s clean skin if I want to exaggerate. his dirty shirts. his sweatshirt that I stole and smell when I miss him oh my god.

There are two people who wear this out there; The first, work at a well-paid, nine to five , office job, have a high standing in their company and is the exact opposite of Patrick Bateman. On the outside, they seem psychotic and slightly unhinged. On the inside, they are so organised, charming, quiet and peaceful. They also do raves instead of clubs (and if the do clubs, it's usually the good ones-underground. The second ones, rave all night, get high on the best drugs in the world, and if they make it EVER in the morning, and decide to get outside, they'll probably go wearing this fragrance. I am both.

I received this tester 7 or so years ago. When I sprayed it back then, I didn’t like it much. It felt very aftershave-y to me, peppery and fresh in a overly masculine way. I decided to try it out again, now that I know a bit more about perfume and my nose has developed. I think what turned me off at first was the nutmeg, and aldehydes + the mate on the opening. The spice (nutmeg, coriander and cinnamon) still comes in quite strong, but I get a floral note too almost right away, and then it reveals a much sweeter side. Such a complex scent! It feels mysterious to me, but somehow still quite light. I definitely get ink, but it’s not photorealistic. The scent reminds me of the feeling you get after a frantic studying session. You lost track of time, your hands are smeared with ink, and you're finally looking up from your writing. The window is open, there's a breeze coming in, carrying with it the scent of blooming trees. You are taken by the feeling of the semester almost coming to an end. But it's still spring, not summer yet, and there's still work to do, so you return to the page. It's very nostalgic to me! Like university put into a bottle. Want to compare it to Blamage.

I've worn this perfume every day since I've gotten it. It is really a perfume that can be worn year-round, day and night. Since I began working in an office environment, I felt like I couldn't keep on wearing Angel, and this fragrance is likely going to become my new signature. To me this scent is pretty linear. The top notes are what I get from it, and they persist until it fades (more on that later). I think the ink note draws quite a bit of attention to this perfume, but I really only get that "inkiness" through the sharp tea, citrus, and aldehydes. I.e., it's not its own thing. For comparisons, this perfume is as if aromatics elixir and diptyque tempo had a child that wore a single spray of Chanel no. 5 l'eau. My only gripe with this fragrance is its longevity. By lunch time I am only getting hints of it, and by the end of the day it is quite literally gone unless I bring my shirt up to my nose. I also am suspicious that it has a weak sillage period, but I've only worn it "freshly-sprayed" in the office, where it is generally frowned upon to tell someone they smell good. What a shame!

My signature scent. An incredible mixture of every type of perfume; spicy, woody, fruity and fresh whilst being super complex and original but still palatable and enjoyable to most. I’ve always found that my taste in perfume doesn’t always correlate to what majority of people like to smell and I think this is a gorgeous compromise. It’s fresh from the aldehyde but not boring like some fresh fragrances. It’s floral and fruity without smelling like a fruit salad or a bouquet. It’s green and herbaceous whilst also balancing spice and musk. It’s spicy without smelling overpowering and too masculine. It’s just what I want in a perfume, something complex and interesting, genderless and progressive.

Not much to say, simply the perfect clean scent. Love it

Initially I left a very negative review for this perfume. Some reviewers have mentioned getting a grandma-vibe from this perfume. Not in a nostalgic way, but like an old, dusty wardrobe full of old clothes. I still feel it in somewhere there, but I have to search deep to find it. The positive notes have come forth much more, and they are way more difficult to describe. I like the description of it being a "play of contrasts", because the aldehydes and that (glorious) yuzu note really contrast the darker notes. I feel cool in this. Except for that rare occasion when that grandma-vibe suddenly comes forth.

Moving along in the world of Comme des Garçons, today with Comme des Garçons 2, released in 1999. The brand describes it as “a fragrance for a personality regardless of its sex,” which feels like a recurring theme for them. So the question is whether this one stands as a classic or ends up being a flop. On the opening, the first thing I notice is a slightly peppery, musky tea vibe, but it is bright at the same time. The tea, angelica, and mate give it a green, herbaceous character, and the aldehydes add a clean lift that reminds me of loose tea leaves. It feels very fresh without leaning heavily into citrus, which makes it stand out immediately. After about thirty minutes it becomes deeper and a little sweeter. I get the ink note, but it does not smell like fresh ink on paper. It smells more like ink that has already dried, subtle and smooth. Magnolia brings in a light creamy sweetness, and there is a soft spiciness that I associate with caraway, adding a gentle warmth beneath the surface. Around an hour to an hour and a half in, the cinnamon becomes more noticeable, giving a stronger but still controlled spice. The smooth tea character continues running through the fragrance, most likely from the mate, and the ink keeps everything feeling soft rather than sharp. Finally, after about three hours, it settles into a spicy, slightly sweet herbal drydown. There is that West Indian bay leaf mixed with tea and ink, alongside incense, amber, and labdanum. What smells like rose adds just a touch of balsamic smoothness. There is definitely a lot going on in this fragrance, but it somehow manages to never feel overcomplicated or overwhelming. What is impressive is that despite its complexity, it does not feel like a difficult wear. I think it is truly unisex and will work whether it is hot or cold, whether you apply a little or a lot. There is also that liminal space quality running through it, something that feels in between places or moments. The imagery it evokes for me is this: a wide lecture hall during an exam. Most teachers at your school drink coffee, but one drinks tea. You walk to the front of the room to ask a question, standing yards away from the other students. There are laminated signs or artwork on the walls. It feels quiet, intellectual, slightly surreal, waiting to ask that question. Once again I find myself associating a Comme des Garçons fragrance with a specific person or moment, which I think is very neat. It is a very unique fragrance, much like the clothing from Comme des Garçons, and it is something that should be tried at least once if you have not already. It has been around for over 25 years after all ;)

Comme des Garçons 2 A completely masculine scent. A hard gaze. A firm stance. Very desperado. Very Matrix. Long-lasting with a lingering, suspended aura. A true men’s fragrance, but not the classic barbershop type. Cold, metallic, dark like ink. As if wearing a black coat and taking over the room without saying a word.

smells like enlevement au serail if it was a spicy, moody young man instead of an 80 year old, church-visiting grandma.
