I’m a huge Commodity fan- I own 11 of their fragrances. Im not anosmic to any notes that I’m aware of - but this barely smelled like anything on my skin. It’s incredibly light.. not light as in intimate projection (because I love skin scents) but light as in non-existent. I get a faint hint of a powdery, woody, slightly soapy? Vanilla. It’s fine, but I expected something entirely different. I’ve never had an issue with any of my other Commodity fragrances when it comes to longevity OR projection so I can’t help but feel a little disappointed. Seems like this depends highly on individual skin chemistry.
It’s a nice vanilla scent, warm and musky without being super boozy or Animalic. Also not overly sweet. I don’t really get “powder” but that could be a me thing, lovely vanilla amber scent but for the meh longevity I think the price tag is kinda high for such a simple vanilla scent
This was nice . Nothing too "wow" . On me , it was just a normal vanilla scent .
This smells now like gypsy water and the steel grey tocca more than l remember. And the notes have changed. If you have either of those just that and maybe 1 squirt of mix bars vanilla bourbon body mist and you def don't need this. And what are all the plusses and minuses and what do they mean as they all have the same notes. Concentration maybe wtf knows
It has a very clear, slightly spicy, and green opening. Its drys down into a very creamy and smoothy vanilla. It has an overall woody undertone. There is a clean element to it. The dry down is like an ice cream: vanilla, smooth, milky but not overly sweet. Its a interesting vanilla since it goes cold rather than amber. It's one of my favourites but the bold space added more amber and musk notes so that version loses the cold aspect which I really enjoy from the expressive.
Vanilla Benzoin. More vanilla than benzoin. Low sillage with a good longitivity.
Reminds me of VS Bare Vanilla but more musky on dry down
Gold ☀️ This fragrance has the energy of someone whose life is already in place. No parties. No drama. No flirting. Just a beautiful morning in a dream house, a vanilla latte, white clothes, palm trees outside the window and a vacation that never seems to end. Expensive, polished and quietly luxurious. To my nose, it leans a little masculine — like a well-dressed person with excellent taste, wearing a white polo and clean sneakers on a sunny weekend. There is something calm and successful about it. Nothing loud, nothing attention-seeking. A fragrance for people who don't need to prove anything. My rating: 9/10 ✨
What happened to the gold with the camphor in it? I believe it had a release date on it. I know it was before COVID
Very warm and sweet, with an almost buttery quality. The deeper amber notes make this a lovely, evening-time vanilla scent. I loved smelling this on myself throughout the day.
Cute, neat and cozy little vanilla. It starts very comforting at the opening, then becomes a sort of slightly fancy slightly milky vanilla skin. After a few hours, the benzoin notes become stronger and give it a more clean vibe, which I really like. Ultimately, nothing groundbreaking, and with this projection it certainly won’t make head turns as you enter the room, but I really enjoy wearing it for myself! Makes me feel comfy and like I have my life together.
i am completely nose blind to this… smelled like nothing
It smells like it has some sort of deep woody or oud notes
If this is the Expressive version, I can't imagine what the Personal version is like... this is sooo weak. Not unpleasant; just a simple slightly sweet vanilla (I get no juniper berries at all)... but so weak.
Pretty aromatic vanilla. Balsamic and woody with a slight edge from the juniper which I love. Reminds me of a vanilla infused gin with spices. Very light skin scent though so but great if you're seeking projection.
This is a nice albeit basic ambery vanilla. Lightly sweet and has a creamy quality to it. I don't get much from the top or base notes though. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long or project much for me. Reminds me very much of Black Tie by Celine, so if you're looking for a cheaper option, I would check this one out.
Ok I am completely confused by this scent and how this has gotten any hype. Gold expressive gives me pencil shavings with a puff of vanilla. I love the concept of this brand but this one is a very overpriced skin scent with barely any scent at all. what it does give me is completely linear and doesn't project more than 2mm. Would like to smell some of the others to give the brand a fair shot. This one was a miss for me.
Totally smells like an orange creamsicle! This one’s nice if you don’t have a basic vanilla in your collection. The juniper adds a nice ozonic quality. Soft, powdery vanilla goodness! Really good layered with citrus.
My favourite commodity scent so far. Nothing incredible, just a cozy vanilla scent with a sophisticated depth that makes you lean in. It feels well blended, and the notes aren’t obvious but more subtly revealed. Projection isn’t great but this scent really reminds me of a cozy, warm hug.
This is a basic vanilla. Not aromatic whatsoever just a simple VERY light sweet scent.. nothingspecial unfortunatly:(
am I cursed? does my skin hate commodity (except for milk)? getting very distinct soapy/aldehydic notes again and can barely smell the wood and vanilla over that.
Smells like the most delicious fanciest marshmallow you’ve ever had in your life. Huge fan!
This is ridiculous. I have a small sample/tester vial and I had to put almost half of it on just to smell anything, it’s not strong at all, another barely there “skin scent” which I think is just an excuse for bad performance. “Skin scent” 🤦♀️🤪 give me a break. Especially at this price point?! I just think it’s a cop out by brands to excuse giving us nothing or the bare minimum. I could smell a tiny bit of vanilla as soon as I put it on but it’s just in the initial opening then it dried down to woody musk. That’s it. Woody musk. So boring 😑!! Zzzzzz… Maybe a good bedtime scent because you can’t smell it. It sits so close to the skin you literally have to try to smell it. Annoying.
I was excited when I saw these notes..sounded right up my alley..I was at TJ Maxx and saw this opened and did a spray test. It was gorgeous for the first 5 seconds..refreshing, grounded and I even got a slight vanilla scent. It developed quickly, but sadly by the time I left walked around and shopped for 20 more minutes I could no longer smell. My husband couldn't smell it on my wrist either. God bless if you have chemistry that can work well with this one..its unisex and a great blend of the classics..but for me its a disappointment.
I want to like this. The description and notes made me think this would be wonderful. On me, it is awful. The only thing I smell is artificial and metallic. And as it stays on my skin, it seems to get worse. It mellows into to stay metallic but sour and stale. For reference, I absolutely LOVE Commodity’s Velvet and Milk+.
Smells similar to Cirque du Soleil But blended better (no cotton candy or hay note but otherwise really similar) Smells like caramel or vanilla fudge. Pleasant but does not last long on my skin.
not a huge fan of most gourmands because i like things to be more ‘gothic’, but this is honestly lovely. it feels so deep and almost mature? feels like it fills a room. vanilla not toooooo sweet and gourmand-y, just with enough other stuff to make me hooked. lovely.
I really really love this perfume. I don't know if it just reacts really well with my skin, but it's addicting to smell on myself and one of the very few perfumes I don't get very quickly anosmic to. It's pretty simple, but not in a way that's boring. I am a true gourmand lover, I want to smell stupidly sweet and edible like you just walked into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. This is a much more mature and elevated version of that, Gold sits very sweet and vanilla-y on my skin but without being a sucker punch of sugar. I loooove the slightly spicy, woody, incense base from the sandalwood and benzoin. A lot of people here are saying the longevity is quite weak but I haven't noticed that at all, it definitely doesn't last all day long, but certainly 5-6 hours and I can smell it faintly on my clothes the next day. As a lot of people are saying, the juniper note doesn't really come through, but that hasn't dissuaded me lol. This is a very warm, comforting, sweet fragrance that I would absolutely recommend to any gourmand lovers looking for something easy to wear and elevated from a typical sugar bomb.
after a few hours i get is a subtle woody marshmallow, not overly sweet. subtle lactonic note weak longevity
Loved it as I sprayed it, then where did it go? Repeat sprays a 2nd and 3rd time, could barely detect a faint incense-like scent, no vanilla. Bewildering.
