First sniff of this was an experience for sure. It's just spices in your face, extremely and borderline unbearably strong. However, after like 30 minutes, it tones down and the rose starts to show up. I dislike rose smell in general but it does an amazing job here calming this perfume down. But don't get me wrong, the strong spice smell is still there. Also, the rose serves as an excellent bridge as the middle note, connecting us to the sweet and woody base. Definitely a winter/fall fragrance that is supposed to be worn at night. Please do not overspray this. I like it, but it's a bit too much for me.

One word "Beast" held off buying for a while as it's so expensive. As a lover of strong perfumes this ticks all boxes. Not your typical Oud, plenty of spice and amber punching throughout the wear (I can still smell after 24hrs on the wrist) I do shower honest... Great powerful perfume though I can see why some people dislike, not for everyone.

This is an dangerous perfume, first sniff 😣. BUT after 15/30 ☺️ starts to cooldown and from there you will enjoy it, agreed you will smell more spices then oud. Not for Sauvage/born in Rome lovers.

This perfume is ultra masculine, tough, strong, built, and yet smooth, intoxicating, gorgeous, and very, very James Bond. Yeah, this is an alpha fragrance. Extremely sexy.

I feel like fragrantica chose to not mention the perfumer (Cécile Zarokian) of this putrid disaster of a fragrance on purpose! Such a nauseating mess 🤢🤢🤢 ... Not the crowning achievement in their career!

I love to hate this one, and I hate that I love it. Complex. Mature. Taboo. Intoxicating. Sweet amber drenched in darkness. Eternal. Filthy. Scandalously priced. Pointless luxury. F'ing garbage. F'ing Masterpiece. Impossible to replicate. Its next to impossible to explain Oud Zarian with words. But a few things are certain: its here to stay, and its not here to please the asinine masses. Its a statement. A benchmark. A new perspective. Its a declaration of war against the established order. The question is- which side are you on?

You have to give it more than one try. After 3 days of playing with it I even started liking the ridiculous opening. I do agree with most reviews-this is great! Not for office, not for summer

For the life of me it is about dark chocolate and coffee! It doesn’t change the scent for hours. Then there’s licorice, mix of spices, and a bit of oud which is not predominant. It’s a very strong pungent fragran

I blind bought this knowing it was going to be a challenging fragrance. For me with the high amount of raw naturals listed in the allergen deck it really helps to let this one sit after opening. When i first got it I did get the outlands type gourmand opening. But after it starts to dry down it gets much darker, resinous and smoky and leathery. IMHO probably the best release from this house. You can definitely detect the maltol in it. But every day the scent smooths out. I get hardly any association with Royal Tobacco. But I have a 2022 G batch before the scale up of that house so I am not sure if people are comparing it to the 2023 changes. I would say let the bottle sit. And many of my love at first sniffs quickly became my least favorite fragrances. The ones that have me questioning my tastes 30 years in collecting fragrances are the one that if I like a lot of the scent but I find one part challenging usually if I wear it I not only get an acquired taste for it but it quickly becomes one of those irreplaceable treasures in my collection. For me what was at first IDK is now addictive and intoxicating. As for the rose note. I personally can tell its there but to me it acts more like a structural bridge rather than being a dominant forward leaning note. If you think about oud it is paired with rose all the time. But the rose usually is very feminine and intense. For me this scent is very balanced. Some will criticize it by seeing oud and wanting a very specific type of oud or what they have come to know what it smells like. But lemon is in many fragrances. Some smell natural and some smell like a chemical cleaning agent. Oud can have many nuances to it. And for me this is a floral slightly anamalic oud with a smoky quality as well. I personally love the fragrance and that is from someone who said he would never buy another creed again. Would I pay full retail? No. sure even some discounter prices are still high. But prices are kinda all over the map on all fragrances. Some will say this is too expensive but cant wait for the next designer 1.7 being sold for $206. Prices from all houses are getting pretty ridiculous. Would I say the fragrance is worth the money? For me and what I paid for my launch bottle yes. But its going to last me the rest of my life. If you dont like middle eastern fragrances this probably is not you cup of tea not blind buy safe. And if you focus on the super highly polarizing aspect of fragrances that are insanely challenging for the sake of artistry you may find this one not polarizing enough.

I’m not a Creed fan at all, because I’m usually into big oriental/amber compositions and Creed for me was always a white suit wearing, suburban freshie “Jeremy Fragrance” type brand. I was super surprised, then, when I got my nose on this and absolutely fell in love with it. Don’t let the “oud” in the title put you off. This is an amber fragrance, darkened and deepened with a beautiful myrrh accord. In fact, the biggest note in it is myrrh and it’s the myrrh that makes it mysterious, leathery and dark from about minute five, right through into the dry down. There are indeed challenging spices in the top, but they disappeared pretty quickly. I think they are needed to anchor some of the rest of the composition down. And to stop it being too sweet in the opening. It’s not listed in the pyramid but there is vanillin in the base, which is what makes this such an addictive amber-monster. I guess this is not a safe composition for everyone, but if you have a little mystery about yourself, you like wearing black, and you’re not the kind of guy I described in my opening paragraph, you might just love this. I think it’s incredible.

The top notes could use some smoothing out, but once it dries down, it becomes an amazing scent. It's similar to Outlands, but darker, drier, spicier, and more oud.

Upon first sniff, this was a hard no for me. An hour after, the fragrance developed into one of the most remarkable smelling fragrances I've experienced. After two showers and 36 hours later, this fragrance continued to project and turned into a masterpiece. One of my top five within my 250 fragrances and a top pick from the House of Creed.

É notável a qualidade de ingredientes e complexidade do cheiro, mas honestamente, na minha opinião, é um perfume inutilizável, até mesmo em dias frios. Fragrância totalmente voltada a colecionadores, sem apelo comercial, realmente voltado a narizes bem treinados. A primeira impressão nas notas de saída é no mínimo repulsiva, pois tamanha qualidade e complexidade do ingredientes empregados não entrega de forma alguma uma apreciação imediata, e sim, de EXTREMO DESAFIO. No dry down, a melhora na experiência é significativa, acabando con toda opulência e aspecto medicinal da saída do perfume. Para coleção, peça imprescindível. Para perfume usual, na minha opinião, jamais.

Creed's Oud Zarian is a marvelous improvement over their other oud selections. For a commoner like me, Royal Oud bypassed my ability and/or olfactory sensitivity to such an extent that I took an immediate dislike to this cut-above fragrance. It's definitely not on my wavelength. But Oud Zarian improves on RO's monotonality by offering just a touch of all the right essences with outstanding longevity. It would even be easy to overlook the oud entirely with the other woody/spicy combinations that constitute the heart of this better Oud creation from Creed. I'll definitely consider buying another bottle of this beautiful autumnal fragrance when this one is gone.

I feel a little embarrassed, and I must get it off my chest. Not too long ago I wrote a popular review on this fragrance explaining why I didn't like it, It was a long and passionate review expressing how this fragrance was disappointing and smelled like an Indian corner store etc etc. The kind of rhetoric that people who haven't given this a proper chance would spout. Some time after that, my nose and my taste in fragrance changed drastically. I started getting more into Amouage, Orto Parisi, Nasomatto, and other more complex and unique fragrances and houses. Things that I used to hate (like thinking Layton smelled like Vapour Rub) became loves of mine and this is certainly one of them. I think my frontal lobe finally developed, maybe I'm a proper "adult" now? This genuinely is the greatest fragrance in the ENTIRE Creed line up. It opens with a strong liquorice, spice blend, and of course...the beautiful oud (which some people can't detect at all in here for some reason?). This is what puts most people off, the dirty facets from the oud and the INSANE spices and liquorice root really give this a kick, and even my gf said that it smells a lot like curry haha. But if you give it just 20 minutes....yes 20 minutes, this will reveal one of the most beautiful oud, rose, spice and amber creations on the market. It surprised me and my partner so much to see how wonderfully this develops. Also, for what it's worth, I'm now rather fond of the opening and entire life of the fragrance. I'm not surprised however, that this gets a lot of hate online, since nobody has the attention span to let something sit on their skin for longer than a few minutes before judging it and scrubbing it (thank you short-form content). Please give this a proper and honest go, Creed has killed it here and I hope that the unjust negative reception doesn't put them off from leaning further into this complex and deep direction for future releases. I also hope they don't massively reformulate it into some watered down rubbish, though I'm not as confident in that regard :/. P.S: Wild Vetiver was also an amazing release. Got a lot of hate for not having enough vetiver but you kinda have to trick dudes into wearing beautiful rose fragrances nowadays. Masculinity can be oh so fragile...

This is not a primarily oud or woody fragrance. What this is, is a heavily spiced fragrance. I'm getting star anise and licorice most prominently. Those two are tricky because they can evoke quite a strong medicinal smell. It's giving a spiced red tea in late autumn. Not bad but it's not a dark scent by any means (which I hoped it would be). Edit: Upon second wear, this scent really grew on me. Fantastic, different and spicy.

Oud Zarian by Creed smacks. Warm spices and resins held up with a beautiful oud that's rippled with a lightly sweet undertone. A comforting aroma that we can attribute to Cécile Zarokian's artistry. Bravo!

Creed, as a perfume house, is not among my favorites, as its creations have traditionally been aimed at Western tastes. Classic fragrances such as Aventus, Erolfa, and Millésime Impérial strike me as well-crafted but ultimately rather conventional and not particularly aligned with my personal preferences. There are, however, a few exceptions. Bois du Portugal and Silver Mountain Water are fragrances I genuinely enjoy and would gladly include in my collection to add some diversity. In recent years, Creed has begun releasing fragrances that differ noticeably from the style for which the house has long been known, moving away—at least in part—from its traditional audience. Creations such as Carmina, Queen of Silk, Centaurus, and Delphinus clearly illustrate this shift. Looking at this evolution, one could reasonably conclude that Creed is seeking to establish a stronger presence in the oriental, or at least oriental-inspired, perfume market. To me, Oud Zarian is the fragrance that best represents the direction the house now seems intent on pursuing. It is a composition built around oud and spices, supported by subtle floral nuances that remain quietly in the background, serving only to smooth and refine the overall structure. For many people, Oud Zarian immediately recalled Royal Tobacco and Outlands by Amouage, and that comparison is understandable. During the first few minutes on the skin, the similarities are unmistakable. This is hardly surprising considering that all three fragrances were created by the same perfumer, Cécile Zarokian. However, Oud Zarian soon reveals its own identity. It lacks the intensely smoky, almost charred tobacco facet that defines Royal Tobacco, as well as the rich, creamy spiciness that characterizes Outlands. Instead, Oud Zarian revolves around an accord of caramelized spices enriched with dark molasses-like nuances. Many people claim that it “doesn’t smell like oud,” but I believe this perception stems from an overly narrow understanding of the material itself. There is a widespread assumption that oud must smell like a barnyard, damp wood, or display intensely mineral and animalic facets, as found in Pur Oud by Louis Vuitton or The Night by Frédéric Malle. In reality, oud is remarkably diverse. Its aroma varies according to the agarwood species, its quality, geographical origin, extraction method, and aging process. Bengali oud, for example, often develops notes of burnt caramel, molasses, warm spices, and a subtle camphorous undertone. Oud Zarian evokes precisely that style of oud. It reminds me of the aroma of a rich, resinous and sweet bakhoor, with a scent reminiscent of freshly caramelized candied nuts. The rose never takes center stage; instead, it quietly supports the composition by contributing sweetness and a touch of freshness, while the sandalwood introduces a creamy, milky texture that rounds out the fragrance beautifully. The way Cécile Zarokian composed Oud Zarian reminds me of Francis Kurkdjian’s approach in Oud Satin Mood Extrait. Both fragrances share a similar philosophy: they use oud as an integrated component within a sophisticated composition rather than making it the sole focal point. The difference is that Oud Zarian leans toward a spicier, hotter, and more syrupy profile, whereas Oud Satin Mood Extrait embraces a softer, more powdery, floral, and velvety character.

This is really just a rosey oud fragrance with sandalwood and licorice in the background. Nuclear - had to wash it off as it was too rose heavy for me and my wife can’t stand it. It smells nothing like Outlands so I don’t know how others can even compare it to this. Outlands doesn’t smell like rose and has a much more citrus, spices and vanilla in its DNA. I have worn it multiple times. I’m not the biggest fan of either but can’t stand oud zarian. You have to like rose and oud to like this. Way overpriced for what it is. Sure it’s high concentration and beast mode but not unique or interesting. I can’t give this any more than a 4/10

Very similar to Amouage Outlands with slight differences, most notably the spicy opening .

One of those rare cases where the performance ruins the fragrance for me. Oud Zarian in general is a very bold, attractive fragrance in the ballpark of Outlands, but darker and more leathery. While Outlands is very persistent and long-lasting, Oud Zarian is borderline obnoxious. Just as an example: I sprayed Oud Zarian on a test strip and put it in one of my bags, then forgot about it. A month later I opened the bag, left the room, came back into the room and the whole room smelled strongly of Oud Zarian. A month later the one spray on a test strip still projected like crazy. I also tested Oud Zarian on myself and it was the only thing I could smell for the next ~24 hours. Sometimes a bit less is more.

I have to say , this is my favorite release within the last year or two . It’s so beautifully crafted . There’s a paper like beautiful softness to it . I absolutely love ! Really beautiful scent from a typically underwhelming house . It’s hot summer here in the states so I often go to my collection and just smell this until the weather permits for this to be wearable again .

This is an absolutely stunning fragrance, worth every penny. This will make all of the other special occasion/winter scents in your collection stale. @TwoWheelAUS this is lowly rated because most Creed enjoyers/the younger crowd have an aversion to fragrances which are actually somewhat interesting. If you find most Creeds a bit boring and nothing special, try this one, especially if you like dark fragrances. A masterpiece by Cecile Zarokian.

Smells like the inside of an old church or cigar lounge but not in a good way

If you don't like rose you won't enjoy this. The base is like 40% sweet rosey smell similar to oud satin mood, then the 60% on top is like a heavily spiced syrup covered baked good. Slightly gourmand to my nose. From the notes there's definitely spiced notes, rose, liquorice, underlying sweetness, in that order. Very very strong lasts all day on skin and easily overnight on clothes. And this is using fairly small sprays from a sample. The price is crazy high, but why does this have a 3.74 ranking, wtf? It's beautiful. If you like PDM Carlise, this is similar in construction to that but more interesting.

Absolutely atrocious fragrance in my opinion. Stinky oud and far too strong and spicy. Instant headache inducer and singes my nose into oblivion
