Dune Pour Homme

This scent has a lot of memories to me … every time I smell it I go back in time to that summer days in the late 90’s & early 2000 … what a time ! what a scent!

Warm coastal air in a bottle! • Very refined. Fresh, green, airy, creamy, but not as potent as the original formulation. • Recent formulations are similar to the old ones, but not identical. Older = more rugged. Newer = cleaner. • Now we get a lighter, fresher, and more herbaceous scent; the basil and the sage seem more prominent. • We used to get something that smelled more salty, more mineral, slightly dry and metallic, and woodier. • The most recent formulation is easier to wear, TBH, but the old one was uniquely good and different. • I'm taking this one to my grave! I'm on my 3rd bottle since 1999!

A pleasant, fresh, green scent. Definitely smells like it was made in the 90s...not a contemporary scent profile, not in a bad way. Not a lot feels distinct in the opening, just a cloud of vaguely "fresh" scents. An unobjectionable 'like', definitely not a love soft and a bit creamy as it dries down. Vanilla/tonka bean is not in your face, which is important for me. Overall, a nice 'green' fragrance. Seems like a lot of that comes from the fig and fig leaf! Update: Dries down quite nicely to a green, very mildly floral, sandalwood. Solid enough to own/wear.

This is definitely an underrated fragrance, very unique. The only thing I would compare it to is platinum egoist, but Dune is softer and creamier. I think it's appropriately named, it gives me images of a light breeze pushing along sand dunes. I might have to pick up a bottle.

I distinctly remember wearing this back in my teenage years (25+ years ago now) and I'm sure this didn't have fig in it back then? My recollection of it was a powdery, citrus scent, absolutely made for the beach/poolside. I will have to hunt down a tester of this in a store somewhere to see if it's how I remember it because the current notes list doesn't ring true to me at all. I appreciate this isn't really a review but I will update this as and when I find it in a store.

عطری نسبتا خوشبو که بنظر من روایح ابتدایی زیبایی داره اما بعد از نوتهای میانی برایم زیاد جالب نیست . نوتهای شروع خیلی معطر خنک و کمی شیرین میوه ای انجیری گیاهی است که بتدریج تبدیل میشه به عطری کلاسیک و نیمه تلخ و ضعیف مدتی قبل از خرید این عطر ، یک مدل قدیمتر اون را تست کرده بودم و از رایحش خوشم اومد اما عطری که برای من ارسال شد مدل جدید بود که هم چاپ روی بطری و دربش با قبلی تفاوت داشت و هم رایحه مثل اون نبود و همینطور خیلی ضعیف با ماندگاری کم سیلاژ عطر متوسط بمدت یک ساعت و ماندگاری حدود ۳ الی ۴ ساعت و بعد از این تایم بسختی میشه بویی حس کرد از اوریجینال بودن عطر اطمینان دارم چون پلمپ بود و زیر شیشه عطر چاپ لیزری عالی داشت اما ریفورموله ارزش عطر را کاهش شدید داده . امتیاز ۵ از ۱۰ برای این ادوتویلت -------------------------------------------------------------- A relatively fragrant perfume that I think has beautiful initial scents , but after the middle notes , it is not very interesting to me . The initial notes are very aromatic , cool and slightly sweet , fruity , fig , herbal , which gradually turns into a classic , semi-bitter and weak fragrance . Some time before buying this perfume , I had tested an older model of it and I liked its scent , but the perfume that was sent to me was a new model that had a different print on the bottle and lid from the previous one , and the scent was not the same , and it was also very weak with a short duration . The sillage of the perfume is average for an hour and lasts about 3 to 4 hours , and after this time you can hardly smell it . I am sure that the perfume is original because it was sealed and there was a great laser print under the perfume bottle , but the reformulation has greatly reduced the value of the perfume . Score 5 out of 10 for this EDT

An aromatic green freshie with a dihydromyrcenol herb garden vibe. I can see fig leaf and petitgrain most clearly. A bit of white shaving powder and fresh pillowcase musks round it out. Drydown is soapy and dry. There is sweetness somewhere down there the same way 90% cacao dark chocolate is sweet. It isn’t a focal point but you would notice if it was gone. I think if you like the Drakkar Noirs and Fahrenheits of the world this will fit in very nicely to your taste, it doesn’t offend whatsoever. Dune is an fragrance that does smell aged, but does not smell unfashionable. I’m hope nobody takes that the wrong way but I envision a good looking man with silver hair when I smell this. Of course, if you’re secure enough with yourself you should enjoy it at any age. 8.2/10

If there is such a thing as a male counterpart to the clean girl, this one is for him.

I have to admit that I don’t quite understand the interpretation of coastal dunes presented in Dune Pour Homme. It feels far removed from the warm, sandy atmosphere I associate with the theme — something I find much more convincingly expressed in Sables. This fragrance is dry in its own way, or perhaps more accurately, distinctly austere, despite the prominence of green notes. Setting the concept aside, the scent itself didn’t win me over either. It undeniably has a masculine character, but to my nose it leans too heavily into bitterness. Another drawback is its effect on others — on several occasions, I noticed that Dune Pour Homme was not particularly well received by women. For these reasons, I can’t really recommend this fragrance. That said, I have no doubt it has its devoted fans — after all, if it didn’t, Dior would have discontinued it long ago. My rating: Not recommended. (3/7)

I’ve had my eye on Dune for several years and just recently got a bottle. Dune occupies an interesting middle ground between being aquatic, woody floral, and having some classic green qualities in it. The fig leaf is quite prominent as well as the sandalwood in the dry down but other than that it’s tough for me to pick out any notes, reminds me of wet sand and sea grapes. It’s fantastic. I could be way off with this comparison but it kinda reminds me of Versace Man Eau Fraiche. They don’t smell the same by any means but Dune feels a bit like the precursor to Eau Fraiche. Dune is a little more buttoned up and sophisticated where as Eau Fraiche is more brash and loud.

Recently received a vintage bottle and oh my god is this incredible. Just utter beauty and sophistication in a bottle. There is a purity to this scent, something ethereal and magical. I imagine wide open skies, an endless horizon, soft, powdery sand, but on another world, another Earth, another life. Maybe it's the name that's leading me in a sci-fi direction but there really is something here that seems futuristic, or unmoored in time. This is an voyage that starts with a dose of 90s freshness and ends up somewhere entirely different. I love how it progresses from fresh and leafy to this warm and cozy drydown with tonka and woods and vanilla. I cannot honestly detect all of the different notes that are mentioned here, though I can absolutely detect the fig leaf loud and clear, as well as rose and tonka. Everything is so beautifully blended that it is hard to really pick it apart. This is all about creating a mood, a vibe, an atmosphere, and it is wondrous. I absolutely love it. The vibe is pure, powdery, leafy, smooth, ethereal, fresh, clean, warm. This was mainstream perfumery in the 90s. I mourn the loss.

دان؛یه عطر سبز،تلخ و البته کلاسیکه ترکیب ای موقر و سنگین از روایح سبز و ادویه ای تر و تازه با تلخی ریحان و ساقه گیاه و فضا ای که شبیه به اوکموس هست رُز شیرین نیست و انجیر هم کمترین شیرینی رو داره و بیشتر همون وجه سبز و برگ مانند تلخ رو اجرا می کنه لابه‌لای این تلخی ها بعد از یک ساعت،شیرینی خفیف و ضعیف ای سر و کله اش پیدا میشه که سبزی عطر رو تا حدودی کنترل و کم می‌کنه چوب صندل کاملا در خدمت فضای کلاسیکه نه خبری از حالت تراشه ای هست و نه پودری و خامه ای اما اگر عطرهای کلاسیک که صندل دارند رو تست کرده باشید متوجه منظوم میشید که یک فضای چوبی و سبز به کار میده استخوان دار و با شخصیت -تست شده از نسخه‌ی 2019- *************** scent:8/10 longevity:9/10 sillage:8.5/10 purchase value:4/10 ********* overall:7.4/10

It still smells incredible. I tested this after receiving a sample alongside the women’s version, and it instantly caught my attention. The best way I can describe it is this: if Peau de Soie by Philippe Starck and Tommy Hilfiger for Men had a child, this would be it. There’s that familiar freshness—easy, breezy, nostalgic—but elevated and more refined. The overall vibe is pure sandy beach energy. Clean skin, warm air, endless horizon. Fresh, fresh, fresh. What really surprised me is how it settles. As it dries down, the fragrance softens into this creamy, comforting layer—likely vanilla—that feels smooth rather than sweet. It wraps around the skin instead of sitting on top of it. It’s undeniably masculine, yet it dances right on the edge of unisex in the most beautiful way. Quietly confident. Effortless. Timeless.

Mlke nailed it but just adding my 2¢. Definitely has that very same beautiful broomy Dune DNA, which I cherish, while also conjuring up this new beautiful muddy quality. Dune OG is the sands kicked up in the sun whereas Dune Pour Homme is the dank sweaty caverns under the dunes where the wildlife hides. Think Dune as in the books by Frank Herbert, when Liet Kynes lies underground...surely this is what he smelled when he heard the echoes of his father's voice...I could weep, really. Dune-related anything can have that effect on me whether it is perfume or science fiction. Anyway! My nerdiness aside. It's all in the scent. Metallic, earthy, bitter, botanical-skanky, aquatic-green, damp-woody. Reminds me of low tide but definitely no sulphur here. Just the memory called forth by the beautiful scent. Cold summers spent digging a hole on the Atlantic shore with wet sand caking my hair. The dunes are the same color as the green-brown bruises that adorn my knees. Carefree youth spent running, falling...organized chaos. I love that.

I tested it and the scent itself is lovely: fresh, without being aquatic like Cool Water or Light Blue, slightly sweet, slightly creamy with a touch of old-school soap/shaving cream. I like wearing it at the office. *Edit: I have found that the longevity is actually very good, but the sillage dies after about two hours and it is only really projecting for maybe an hour. However, it can still be smelled directly on the skin for many many hours after application; even after a full day at work.

There's a really distinctive herbal-aquatic tone to this which to my surprise really reminded me of something like Platinum Egoiste. It's distinctive quality is that of a muddled set of greens coming together with a mildly sweet rooty, creamy character in the base that reminds me of licorice. Sandalwood and vanilla give body to the sharper leafy notes, but it's much more in-line with that era of shaving-cream adjacent men's scents, when I thought it would be more in the realm of pastel-hued musky fruity things. Not sure why I thought that, but I did haha. It puts a smile on my face though. I think it's a bit softer on average than other things of this era perhaps- less metallic, less obvious sage and citrus, but still a sour-fruity green core running through it. As a variant of this genre that is not distributed in the US I find it interesting, but I'm not sure it's as relaxing and awe-inspiring to me as it is to others who may have grown up with it in more direct terms. Unfortunately I just don't appreciate that licorice-tinged, creamy barbershop aroma that seems to come out of a lot of these perfumes. Maybe if I spend more time with it, that will grow on me though.

A lovely fresh green delicate fragrance. Not many wear it these days so it’s a great option to smell different to everyone else (in a good way!) It’s light and breezy. Needs topping up throughout the day, but that’s ok. Unlike some older fragrances this one seems to have held its price - testament to the quality of this stuff!

I love this stuff, though I would always describe it as a citrus forward fragrance (I have a 2020 batch, which is full of ingredients with citron.. in their title, though may all be red herrings. There is a change to the mix evident in my 2021 bottle, but this single Fragrantica listing implies that there has never been a real reformulation since release). I must have a terrible nose, as no-one else on the planet seems to detect any citrus at all!

I have loved this since it was first created! I lived on a beach at the time and found it was perfect for a hot and humid day yet I discovered that it also comes alive in colder climates. The scent itself is warm, sweet and breezy without being too heavy, salty or woodsy. The mignonette seems more prominent to me than the votes suggest. It has just enough fig to make it unique without being a fig dominant fragrance. Tonka seems almost undetectable to my nose. My vintage bottle was almost empty so I searched for a new one and discovered that this is still being sold on Dior.com in Europe. However I cannot vouch for modern Dior reinterpretations as the newer Dune for women and Fahrenheit are both pale comparisons to what they once were. For those searching, the vintage bottles have Christian Dior at the bottom of the bottle and on the packaging. Newer versions simply say Dior. I found another vintage bottle which still smells like new and the projection and sillage are both excellent.

Likable, Clean, Unique, Pleasant sandalwood, creamy. A hint for any clone house to take a run on this DNA. I would buy it again, if it would be on the market. Dune's magic seems to fill my chest with an unspeakable happiness. We all know how smells evoke memories like no other human sense can, and Dune seems to reconnect me with a younger, primordial naivete and intuitive joy that was to be partially eclipsed by life's later travails and mundacities.

Dior's take on the 90s aquatic salty fresh genre. It has touches of BLV PH, Millesime Imperial and GIT, but it is its own fragrance in the end. Very classy, masculine fragrance. It has a late 90s summer vibe. The fig here is very muted, its not a figgy fig fragrance, the fig is blended here to work well with all the other notes, not to stick out on its own. If you want something like Platinum Egoiste, MI, GIT, think about the fresh genre of late 80s and 90s, thats what this is. But its very classy in the end. Try it out, this is superb, very nostalgic.

Sutilmente compuesto y muy distinto de los perfumes densos e intrusivos. Una elegante sensación que te transporta a las dunas de arena del mediterráneo, evocando al verano luminoso en entornos naturales con vegetación aromatica ligeramente especiada. Una joya de la que hay que aprender que no siempre, más es mejor. Las sutileza hacen su trabajo, y Dune es un camino que Dior exploró en su tiempo y al que se debería volver de vez en cuando. The combination of green, figgy, and woody notes gives it a rich yet fresh profile. The creamy sandalwood and vanilla adds depth without becoming too sweet, which is a nice balance. It’s interesting how certain scents can evoke memories of a specific time period, definitely brings back that nostalgic vibe from the late 90s and early 2000s.

Great beach perfume, amazing smell… performance is not great, but it is ok.
