I grabbed this bottle yesterday and wore it to bed last night. Despite other comments I really like the first spray, it's a bright and fresh burst of peach and apricots with white florals. I brought it because of people comparing it to Nivea cream which I love the smell of. I can see the similarities, but this is brighter and slightly fruity with some powder and green notes. Reminds me of a sweeter softer version of Splendor. Delicate, soft and sweet fragrance with surprising lasting power.
It has the strong smell of the quality soaps of the late 80s and early 90s. I can feel the rose and powdery notes that give a creamy, heavy, powerful and distinctive note. The white musk steps in and gives the freshly out of bathtub(not shower) feeling and smell: clean, soapy, Rosie. It makes me think about the tango scene in Scent of a Woman where the young lady in the restaurant sends a load Ogilvy Sister's soap note. Longevity is weak, sillage is decent. It was a blind buy - most probably I wouldn't have bought it. It doesn't tell me stories, doesn't evoke any memories.
Bought because of the price and because it's from Elizabeth arden. Was gonna cancel my order because I wasn't sure if I would like the powderyness of it but I LOVE it! I think it's a bit strong for me, so it's only gonna be sprayed at home until I get used to the scent haha
Smells just like a shampoo from my childhood — either the Johnson & Johnson no more tears baby shampoo or the og Pantene. So comforting and lovely
I just got this in, and I was really wanting to try it because I really like Elizabeth Arden, and I saw that the perfumer of this was Sophia Grojsman which I love her perfume work, and that some people said it smells a bit like soap, which I love a soapy perfume, so my first impressions are: I just sprayed it and let it sit for about 30 mins, I really like this, I can really smell the freesia, which usually I despise because to me it makes things smell sharp like rubbing alcohol, that's kinda how I feel with any ambrox stuff as well, but I really think the freesia along with the apricot make this juicy and delicious, you can smell the soap like florals in the back as well, the rose mixed with lily of the valley, iris, and jasmine, and it's really pretty, a good throw on-go-out-the-door fragrance, where you'll smell good but not too much, you just smell clean and put together This also has a shampoo like freshness honestly, it's less like soap, more like a clean fruity shampoo, but not really cheap fruity, like luxe fruits. It doesn't smell anything like a dove soap dna, to me it's more like ivory, like that soapy dry citrus smell, this smells like if ivory did a pink soap. I feel like if you like Rumeur by Lanvin, you'd definitely like this, they don't smell exactly alike, but they have that same fruity-like, floral soapy quality to them. The type of person I imagine wearing this fragrance is a pretty women in the 90s, that always had her nails done, always had nice clothes, wears 100% cotton shirts and helps everyone out, like a nice clean, and sweet person if that makes sense. She maybe worked at a luxe makeup/perfume counter and hooked you up with samples all the time.
I wore this perfume back in the 2000’s and as I remember it had a bit if a lemony floral scent. I ordered it again recently and to my surprise it was much more of a powdery floral and less citrus. I recommend using it sparingly as it can be strong at first but the dry down in my opinion is much softer and delicate. If you love floral grandma vintage then this is for you!
I bought 7.5ml of True Love pure parfum, "new old stock", in a wrapped box, from a European online discounter. They had it listed as EDP. But it's the OG parfum, and lucky me. It's a ravishing 1990s fruity, floral oriental. The nectary fruit is intact and mouthwatering. All the flowers listed in the notes are showing their colors. There's an impeccable base. They don't and can't make parfum like this anymore. I encourage you to have a look. I see the same bottle in white boxes on auction sites, sometimes, always reasonably priced. 7.5ml. "PARFUM". Chanel N°5 Extrait Flakon 7.5 ml is 180E in my local high street department store. I paid 20E. True Love in this form reminds me quite a bit of Nomade Chloé. Except True Love is prettier, due to the higher quality ingredients and surely Grojsman's hug. Bonus: this old formulation has no powder and does not smell like grandma. I also wisps of the original YSL Paris by Grojsman.
True Love and Revealed smells very much like Yara by Lattafa...extraordinarily so. If people are looking for Yara, True Love is even more affordable.
Now this is what I call a True Grandma Scent, constructively. I see and understand the Nivea Créme comparisons but I actually prefer that scent - it is much warmer and skin-like, while True Love is strongly into floral powder territory - it is only slightly reminiscent of it in its drydown. This perfume is elegant and understated and I think all occasion safe - I use it for bed, after my nightly shower, and it has a very modest sillage and longevity that stays close to skin fleetingly. Despite being a lover of iris there's something here that is definitely overpowering it - perhaps the lilies?... The drydown is comforting and clean, and it seems to me skin chemistry can alter it greatly, turning it bitter on some. But it is ever comforting and therapeutic.
Pampered beauty. A powdery, gentle sweet scent. Stronger than a skin scent. Longevity is weak, but for the price don’t mind reapplying. I agree with Abby Normal below, the powdery note carries this while the sweetness sits on top. The sweetness has a lolly aspect to it like those candy hearts or candy jewellery, reminiscent of childhood. Also agree that it is comforting and soft like a mother’s love for her baby. The colour in the bottle is this scent. I read somewhere the two interlocking rings are meant to represent wedding rings. This isn’t romantic love. I would replace that with a duchess satin bow in the same colour as the juice. A rich bow that a pampered, loved child would wear. This is True Love, between a mother and child. 🤍🌸🪻🎀🩰🩷
initial spray smells like versace red jeans(ew) but less gross. Then turns a bit soap-like, not bad.
A unique blend. Long lasting, a standout. Fresh and confident. A original floral
In the past few days my appreciation for this fragrance has grown tremendously. I ADORE it now. There has to be aldehydes in here even though it isn't listed. There's that quintessential sparkling soapy smell in the opening that fades away. Yes this does smell almost exactly like Nivea Creme due to the strong Lily of the Valley note but it does have a touch more complexity. For me this is perfect for after a shower/bath. I'm surprised musk isn't listed in the notes because I definitely get a clean soft musky smell in the dry down, but it could be a combination of other notes alluding to it. Admittedly this is my least used fragrance in my collection but now that spring is finally here in my part of the world I'll definitely be wearing it more.
I've been intrigued by the great reviews on True Love, along with its great price, and thought this sounded like something I would really like. I wasn't aware of this fragrance when it came out in the 90s, so I don't have a memory of the original. While I do enjoy the dry down of this fragrance, the overall experience leaves me somehow wanting a little more from it - it just feels a little thin, making me wonder if it's been reformulated that way. Anyway, tonight I was inspired to layer it with a bargain fragrance oil that I've fallen in love with - Lavender Lace by Kuumba Made, which is available online as well as at health food stores like Whole Foods. I don't typically layer fragrances much or at all, but this combo is dreamy! The Lavender Lace (which for me gives a warm, cozy lavender, not the cleaning kind) gives some extra body and a touch of warmth to the True Love. This is going to be a lovely bedtime fragrance combination!
"Fume" is absolutely the right word for the first 5-10 minutes of this. I'm not being pejorative when I say - straight nail polish remover. It does dry down into something much nicer that I still find too sharp to be entirely pleasant. But I've layered this with a bit of Noa, and it does a world of good. The combo is as close as I've come to a perfect Nivea scent. Edited to add: I take it back - drydown is pleasant, but it's the way-WAY drydown that makes this perfume an absolute gem. I sprayed it in my closet and days later, when I took out a shirt, it took me a moment to place the beautiful, powdery scent coming from it. A couple hours does this scent wonders, but a day or two is even better.
This smells like a freshly unwrapped scented panty liner. Not unpleasant, inoffensive and light. But it still smells like a panty liner.
The newer bottles smell exactly like Versace Red Jeans to me
Wow, lovely notes on paper, but this one smells like bug repellent. BAD. Blind buy...so bad on me!This will be shelved to try in a few months, but I dont have much hope for this.NASTY!
Wow, all these beautiful notes and they make this? The stupid YT perfume person that suggested this should not be giving out advice. It honestly just smells like a fresh, yet dusty musk to me. Not much else here but a faint iris and white musk. I’m sure this is NOT what Grojsman originally made. I have a feeling the cheapening of production has cheapened this scent too. I will say it’s good for a fresh light bedtime scent. I never thought of wearing perfume to bed until O heard people saying they have bedtime scents, out of the shower scents. lol. Out of the shower you should just smell clean from showering but it’s interesting I guess.
Sweetly green, powdery in a lovely way (and I'm not typically a fan of powdery notes), and florally fresh, shampoo fragrance. Reads classic, inoffensive, and feminine. Fits right in with other drugstore cheapie superstars that are well-crafted and wearable in most situations and at any age. Longevity is outstanding for an eau de toilette in this price range. Honestly, it's a solid performer that I imagine anyone would be happy to have in their collection.
So. Much. Soap. 🧼 The soapiest bride that ever soaped. 🧼 ...Yet I really like it and keep it by my bedside for night time wear. Not sure I'd buy it again, but this 100 ml bottle was cheap, fun & lovely if one accepts it as it is, in all its vintage glory. As a perfume maker hobbyist, I've been "studying" Sophia Grojsman of late and glad to have experienced this. Edited to add: the sprayer broke and then I used it by pressing the atomizer stem and dabbing... and then I went back months later and it had completely evaporated. But now that it's gone, I totally want to replace it with another and will grab one on ebay again soon. This Sophia Grojsman is really strangely addictive, I am missing All. That. Soap. 🧼 And Sophia is my girl crush. 😍 She can do no wrong.
A clean soapy white floral that's powdery with the just right amount of subtle sweetness from the peach and apricot. This definitely has the typical Grojsman DNA and reminds me a lot of YSL Paris, but with less emphasis on the rose and more balanced specifically with the iris and heliotrope, is sweeter from the stone fruits and a lot more powdery. A lovely fragrance for all year round but specifically for the transitional period between winter and spring. The second time I tried this again over a month later, I found it to be very heavy on lily of the valley with a slight sweetness and a strong powdery note. I also realised it smells like a Nivea serum I started using recently. I do wish the dry down had a little bit more punch personally. It's a really beautiful clean soapy fragrance which is light and airy, the dry down is very subtle if not barely there. I just brought this today (Jan 31 2025) and I love it! I do think there is an issue where some bottles of it reek of a chemical baby wipe odour, but thankfully I got a good bottle! I tried it a third time before deciding whether to buy it (I found that I love it) and honestly I think the second tester bottle I had was a bad bottle.
Gorgeous! Wasn't expecting to love this. Took a risk with a vintage 50 ml bottle (frosted with a gold & white cap). Turns out that I do! Freesia is a note that can make or break a fragrance for me. Trust Grojsman to handle it properly 🤍 True Love reminds me of Sun Moon Stars and Charlie Gold eau Fraiche. Great nonlinear scent that changes every few minutes for the first hour, then dries down to a musky floral peach. Pardon me, I'm off to spray some more!
This is comforting and slightly old fashioned. She’s the blousy, overly powdered aunty from your childhood who gave big, suffocating hugs. Let’s face it, there are still days when this is exactly what we all need.
A fragrance reviewer I respect said this one was creamy/soapy. All I get on my skin is baby wipes. Will be returning this one. Still love Sophia Grojsman though! 😘
There is a touch of synthetic paint remover vibes here but, it is a good scent in my opinion. Orris and iris sometimes has a kind of tarmac / y synthetic effect, but in some cases like this one, it can be interpreted as a niche orris and in my opinion it's quite nice and wearable! Apricots defo come through, powdery iris (tarmac, paint remover) also there, in a way that I personally enjoy. Soft florals present. I really like this smell, not sure about buying a bottle but, definitely goes with my clean fresh musky powdery vibe I got going on these days. Like! Not really powdery or soapy to me more of a sharp dry ish iris with fruits and soft florals.
I think I will buy another bottle because the one I purchased smells like bleach and Lily of the Valley. This can't be.
I bought this blind to add to my Sophia Grojsman collection for a low price, 12 USD 100ml. It arrived this week, and the bottle was manufactured 14 months ago, made in USA. The God of bargain commodities has blessed me with one of the "good bottles" of True Love. I can't reproach anything about it. Ok maybe don't smell it from the nozzle. It needs to air out a bit and then it's pretty. It's a tangy fruity floral on me, and not powdery. Shoot me but I experience this as a remix of some notes from YSL Paris, with added peach/apricot. The vanilla is present through the wear. Yes there is a Nivea creme side to it. True Love is now in my category of Dime Store Gems and it is NOT the "charming yet bombastic and cloying" variety. It's balanced and I think it's high value and artful for the price. Shoot me again because it smells like a Sophia Grojsman creation and sits just as well next to cheapie Vanderbilt as expensive YSL, if you can even find Paris. All these fragrances have been simplified and coarsened since their creation, but not ruined, IMO. YSL Paris is 80 USD for 75ml on discount sites and it's not what it used to be. True Love and Vanderbilt are still valid and enjoyable at both 10 bucks. I don't care so much for the total wear of the current iteration of Grojsman's Calvin Klein Eternity Woman. I like the first 30 minutes of that one.
this opens with apricot, iris/orris, lily of the valley, heliotrope and green notes. it's fresh, powdery and a little bit green, then becomes fairly soapy, i think due to the lily. during the soapy phase it's a bit much for me, but once it comes down, i find it very pretty-a powdery spring floral with hints of not too sweet fruits. the apricot note really shines later on.
Tangy peach is present from the start. Then it moves into a soapy floral. My vintage bottles have turned but I can still recognize that Arden dna.
