It opens with a bright lemonade sparkle that’s surprisingly refreshing, but it quickly shifts into a sweet, slightly soapy floral heart. The drydown is a soft heliotrope‑vanilla powder with warm musk. Pretty.
This is very unique to my nose - and that is impressive on its own. This smells like summertime in the 90's - and I am here for it. I get the citrus, I get the powdery-ness, and it's pinned down with a soft woody base. I cannot imagine wearing this anytime of year except the summer and those early, hot autumn days. But.... there is a "fuzzy" feeling to this scent, so I am interested in trying this next winter to see if it fits like a warm blanket or not. Yeah - this one is great.
Closest perfume to loreal color riche (gold tube) lipstick smell. Sadly doesnt last.
The dry down is remarkably like my beloved (discontinued) She Wood. Powdery violets, but Bronze has that extra punch of citrus. Very pretty, soft and feminine.
The originality, depth and performance makes this perfume a masterpiece imo... It sticks in my mind and I keep going back for more. I find it happy soft lemon with a pretty violet note without being too powdery. Not to mention the affordable price. I will always have Bronze in my collection <3 Layered with Soft by al rehab = magic : )
I paid 17$ for 100ml of this. This opens with a sweet lemon italian ice type scent to me and dries down with a little more of the powderyness and slightly woody. This reminds me of light blue if they came out with a lemonade version. For me this was a rare successful blind buy! I love a sweet tart citrus even though they don’t last well, this one lasts as well as any other citrus fragrance. Edit: Ive grown to like this, its a little sour when you first spray it but give it a sec. I get the sweet powdery vanilla lemon, surprisingly I am detecting the florals now too! Its definitely different and doesn’t smell like anything I have except a perfume I gave away Junoon Noir? It was supposedly a dupe for Dama Bianca but I couldn’t stand how powdery sweet it was. Bronze has that vibe but the citrus made it enjoyable to me. Very interesting and fun I look forward to wearing it in spring/summer to see how it wears.
This smells like a designer lipstick I have (Chanel I think?) in a good way!
Just an odd scent. The artificial citrus doesn’t ever marry with the warmer base and it just doesn’t ever become pleasant. Not even for 7.99.
The woodiness and vanilla in this are my favourite aspects of the scent. Not the violet nor the lemonade. I have an old bottle and I feel that it actually got better with age. But I never wear it. 🫣
Bronze = sweet, lemony vanilic makeup powder. It smells quite 90s to me. Bronze reminds me a bit of Sylvaine Delacourte's musk line, and there is something reminiscent of L'Instant as well as Esprit D'Oscar. If you like those, you will enjoy Bronze. I think it smells much more expensive than it is, but these types of perfumes make me think of a stern teacher.
The first versions I had smelled like lemon pie on a rubber stand, 50 and 100ml. My husband did not like them, he said that the vanilla in them was like an insect repellent. Now I have 100 ml of the modern version. That's great! My husband liked it! not a single chemical note. A powder similar to the one in L'Instant Magic and Queen. The fragrance envelops the cocoon and lasts for the whole day.
What is this? Ok so someone took an old cabbage patch doll and slathered it with really old out of date sun tan lotion and threw a cherry scented tree car refreshner on it then poured hot water on it to blend it all together the smokey fume came up to my nose to smell bronze. No way! I really hope I got a bad batch. I just can't imagine anyone buying this. The Ellen tracy edp was great.what happened here?
I had this one and I couldn’t stand it. Makes me wonder if I got a bad bottle because there are a lot of glowing reviews. I remember it being harsh, strong, and synthetic smelling. I also remember it being very metallic smelling. I gave it away. The reviews make me want to give it another go, but only where I am able to test it or return it, for sure. Edit: Picked it up again for $8 at Ross. It is better than I remember. I think SweetJhane described it perfectly though I don’t get much apple or honeysuckle. At this price not a terrible loss if you don’t like it. I really like it now, seems smoother and less harsh than my last bottle. I don’t care for the bottle, it’s cheap looking and the cap is weird and doesn’t seem like it fits.
I agree that this is an underrated and hidden gem. It’s lovely - soft, powdery, a little sweet, warm, and fresh. Heliotrope, coumarin, cedar - I love them together. While Bronze is similar to other perfumes, the green apple and honeysuckle make it unique. It’s beautifully blended. A very easy reach (lightly applied) when you want to smell pretty without calling a lot of attention to yourself - office, church, lunch with friends, shopping. Liberal application takes it up to sexy and alluring, bringing out the warmth and woodsy depth as well as increasing longevity. Mid-development I caught a passing resemblance to Esprit d’Oscar. The drydown is gorgeous. This scent lasts a good 12+ hours on moisturized skin. I just love it! There’s something almost Egyptian about the bottle design, which I find very beautiful. Bronze was a ridiculously inexpensive blind buy that I’m delighted to have in my collection.
This was a surprise for me. I don’t quite remember why I bought it - more likely than not I was looking for something to use as a space fragrance - but on a whim sprayed my wrist. It made me vaguely nostalgic for a scent I know I loved, but yet it didn’t come to me right away. The name kept throwing me off - “Bronze” to me gives summer, tan, sand and sun. But then it hit me, and I had to do a double sniff. This was not possible. It can’t be. It’s Cuir Beluga Light! I’ve always been a leather girl; Cuir de Russie will always be my irreplaceable Number One, but I’ve always tried all the suede/leather masterpieces just out of curiousity. Cuir Beluga for a while had me completely enamoured; I used it all fairtly quickly. It was like a passionate, explosive affair; yet I still returned to my eternal love, CdR. “Bronze” is like that t-shirt an ex-lover left behind. It lacks Cuir Belugas hypnotic depth and richness. But it’s also 0.03% of Cuir Beluga’s current market price. Maybe leather has permeated my skin so much through the decades that it now enhances every scent I try, but I WILL be wearing this. I might enhance it a but with something else (or a touch of oils), but even straight up it’s a much more interesting drydown than the price would suggest.
Extremely powdery and spicey, very strong headache type of smell. Definitely not a safe blind buy!!
Goodness no!! A dated powdery disaster!!
This perfume has an addictive quality to me, and I think because at initial spray it smells just like my mom's make-up cabinet in the 90's. Or maybe what a make-up bag would smell like once you dump out all the contents. Slightly floral, slightly sweet, and very powdery. It's soft, smooth and creamy, with a light citrus opening that then dries down to mainly lily of the valley and heliotrope for me. I think it's perfect for late spring and will take you through the heat of the summer.I would say this is for people who want that beachy sun vibe but don't want any coconut. Longevity was around 6-7 hours for me, and projection was a nice personal bubble space of about 1 ft at most, which is perfect for this type of powdery scent.
Wow I just got this today after reading all the wonderful reviews... usually when I blind buy I'm left sorely disappointed but not this time...this is absolutely beautiful...pretty...no other word for it.. definitely baby powder but in the best way possible..added a little pepper and it makes it fresh and sexy.. perfect fragrance for a wedding..so far long lasting and good projection as well..I'm in love..will be keeping this in my collection always
Blind bought this for a steal after reading on multiple forums that this is a true powder bomb (I LOVE powdery perfumes). And I was nooot disappointed when I got it. The violet is the superstar here, and I realized that it smells a lot like Boldly Seoul which I also love. It’s definitely very powdery, and the fruity notes blends beautifully with the violet. In the dry down it settles to a fluffy amber, truly beautiful!
Ellen Tracy's Bronze is a beautifully soft perfume with a fun little twist. This is a lemonade-kissed, clean powder scent that is perfect for picnics and Easter egg hunts, as well as around the workplace as it is very inoffensive. It's also gentle enough to wear to bed right after your evening bath to really dive into that fresh and clean feeling. I would not describe this as a warm scent, but more like a perfume you'd wear on a breezy spring day or early summer day to cool yourself off. You can absolutely layer with this to balance out heavier scents. If you are not a fan of powder then you'll want to stay away, but otherwise, this is a very safe purchase. — Update: I actually went back to Burlington and purchased another bottle (set with the lotion) for $9. I had to get a backup because this is my favorite scent for winding down to sleep. I can’t help but feel so incredibly relaxed when I have this on. I also love layering this with D&G Light Blue because of the similar notes. They blend together well on my skin, so I recommend giving this combo a try if you can (it helps Light Blue’s longevity problem, at least for me).
This really reminds me of Sylvaine D Florentina more than Dovana. This is a vanilla, citrus and heliotrope perfume. It also reminds me of Oscar de la Renta E'sprit a bit. I agree w/ the one of the posts below. Violet lemonade w/ vanilla. I can't believe how much this smells like the much more expensive Florentina w/ a dash of lemon. For my money I'm glad I didn't purchase any of those. I can buy this cheap little beauty instead.
Quintessential 90's "mom" perfume despite the 2011 release date. Powdery, makeup-bag kind of scent with hints of sweetness and spice. Not sure if I see myself wearing this, it really does make me feel like a kid wearing mommy's perfume! But it smells divine, feminine and comforting, classy but relaxed.
This perfume has grown on me. I get mostly baby powder with a hint of lemon. This is nice for toning down too sharp citrus fragrances.
Cheapie at Burlington; I believe this was a $10 find. Kind of bizarre in a pleasant way. It's like a powder lemonade. Nothing groundbreaking, but I also don't have anything like it, which pleases me. I spray it a couple of times before running errands or when I just want to wear something around the house.
Agreed - there is no reason NOT to like Bronze unless you dislike any and all powder. There is enough lemon and creaminess here to balance it out for most. The powder here is not dry talc but just enough for an agreeable and pleasantly balanced Floriental. See my full review a long way down! I should add two things: If you have not had good experiences with other Ellen Tracy scents, do not worry. I cannot wear them - a metallic, odd note appears on my skin - but nothing like that here. It is the scent that accompanied the more exclusive 'Bronze' clothing line. Violet here reminds me of YSL Paris, only here without that bright rose and with a lovely balance of creaminess and lemon. If you admired Emeraude but couldn't wear it, here is a totally modern interpretation! I suppose the violet leaf is responsible for the 'ozonic' bar listed? I cannot wear ozonic scents in general but happily smell no 'calone' here. Hurrah - a beautiful, easy-to-wear scent that positively blooms in winter! Voila - a total winner. :)
If your bottle comes with a ghastly sticker label, it peels off easily to reveal the real font label. I really feel foolish, but I just noticed this after several years.
Violet lemonade with powdery vanilla amber base. Reminds me slightly of a much lighter Shalimar or maybe one of the more recent Shalimar flankers I have yet to test. Fresh, warm, easy going, cozy, likeable. Can't imagine anyone hating Bronze, it's like a kitten or a puppy of a perfume.
"Ellen Tracy Bronze" is a soft, fresh fragrance that is so safe it can be used everyday. It has its strokes of genius, moving from an icy lemony citrus in the first half hour, into a slightly sweet and beautiful woody and powdery, almost creamy scent that may strike you as warm, only to replay that ozonic lily of the valley and woody notes that cool the fragrance on you again. It has an alluring cling to it, as if it reaches out with olfactory tendrils to passerby so as they pass you, you smell this fragrance like lovely clean cashmere on your skin. A type of playful and zesty trail. This may be the type of scent that keeps you smelling clean all day. Longevity is moderate to long lasting with a good spray on your favourite pulse points. Perhaps this scent needs to mature a bit before a final opinion is made still, otherwise it is a creeper that needs time to sing on you. The bottle is interesting though, even if the box is plain and forgettable. Got this from my fragrance loving sister who bought it and was not enthused. She sent it for my mother actually through me since I wasn't that floored either but I will ask mother if she really wants it, otherwise I shall keep it and allow it to stale. My mother is no fragrance lover like us so I don't want her to take it and have it sitting there, when I could have it and at least give myself the opportunity of changing my mind! An enjoyable scent overall!
I judged this so harshly in the past, but recently i have been liking powdery, Hand cream scented perfumes. So, i grabbed a 100 ml bottle from Burlington today for 7.99. It smells very nice. Lemony, creamy and powdery, not in a cloying way. Very well done.
