Escada Magnetism

This is a lifelong favourite of mine. Literally, my mom says I used to ask to spray/smell it as a toddler and I still love it to this day. It’s so unique and flirty and fun and just delicious. Will always keep repurchasing this

This perfume was somewhat ahead of it’s time. It does not smell outdated or dustry crusty at all! On the contrary, it’s super enjoyable and addictive in 2026 (I don’t have any nostalgia related to it because I come from poor country where in 2000s Escada was unreachable luxury :D). Sweet, girly, complex and not linear, I love it

In true Escada manner, this is a fragrance for extra pretty girls who were teens or young adults in the Y2K era. I hadn’t tried this fragrance, only Sexy Graffiti, Ibiza Hippie and Sentiment but wayyyyy back in the day. This is a sparkling fruity lemonade and sweet almond fragrance that screams “I’m a Barbie Girl” and uplifts your mood right away. My friend Betsy recommended this fragrance and I ordered a 10ml decant right away. 💖💖💖

Sadly, the longevity on me is just so bad; after an hour, it is barely there. I am also on the side of those saying that this perfume pulls on green notes. It does feel 'green' in the beginning and quite strongly, like the prominent notes feel green so yeah not that pleasant. I looked up this perfume as I am in search of something Y2K, I knew this used to be like this bombshell sexy perfume, very alluring and all, but I just don't get it even after wearing it several times, and to be honest, I just don't have time to 'learn' this scent because it fades so fast even from my clothes.

I especially like this in autumn and in the evening. It unleashes its seductive powers then. Today I could feel it around me during a walk, and despite the day being gloomy it does not vibe with it well. It is rather special and very 2000, which was a great era in perfumes. A cousin to Black XS by Rabanne, but subtler. The scent a novelty out of the many parts. I sense the red fruits and blackcurrant the most. They tinge the florals and the light vanilla-patchouli of the base. A scent one needs to know. Great lasting power and a private sillage. Reapplied in the evening - it vibes much better. An intriguing date night scent for an entire year.

When I was younger I loved this. Now it’s heavy, strong, and overly sweet.

I agree with the previous reviewer, Daretobedecadent. I pick up the green notes. I don't smell many of the top notes; I maybe pick up the red berries for the first 15 minutes or so after spraying. I think it's an unoffensive, smooth, versatile scent.

I have one of the latest editions, made in Spain, and it lasts forever — it’s been on my jacket for three days now! It’s exactly the same as it was more than 20 years ago. The only difference is my sense of smell: twenty years ago, it seemed to me that it was very rich and gourmet, but now I can even detect notes of green (hello, Eden by Cacharel!) I would like to express my great gratitude to Escada for not discontinuing this fragrance. It remains as beautiful as ever. It smells more expensive than it costs, I highly recommend it.

I've known this perfume since 2003 as a young teen, but never had a chance to try it. Finally did today. Not sure what to make of it, I feel like it may be outdated, it certainly does smell like something from the 2000s. But that in itself doesn't necessarily make or break a perfume. I think I'll give it another try and come back. There is something to it it's just that I didn't feel like it was impactful.

When I first bought this, I could smell the green notes but they faded quickly and then it was fruity. But today, in the middle of winter, the green notes are shining! Fruits, herbal and slightly spicy (think black pepper spicy, even though there isn't any black pepper in the notes). I'm kind of sick of my usual winter scents so I reached for this and I'm not mad about it. I think I'll be wearing this for a while!

Smelled this via tester bottle, it smells like plastic. I think it's been reformulated judging by the comments, there wasn't a hint of berries to be seen. Nothing sweet, just a plastic green scent. Maybe the bottle was off? I get the same plastic smell from Pink Sugar by Aquolina, Just Me by Paris Hilton, and Vanilla Musk by Coty, which all have totally different notes, so I do suspect a expiration. I also own Mirea by Molinard, which allegedly smells like Magnetism, but I can't make a proper comparison. Mirea is fruity, sweet, and easy to wear. It smells like a stick of gum - berries with a hint of green that makes it gum-like.

When somebody says Escada, I automatically think of Magnetism. It's that recognizable for me. A nostalgic high school memory.

Contrary to the claims here, there is no grass or noticeable green in this. This is an intoxicating, syrupy gourmand. It is sweet and fruity, but not in a fresh way. To me, the sweetness has a somewhat heavy and seductive quality, appropriate for night and cooler weather. I saw comparisons to Angel here, but I dislike Angel. I love this perfume.

I don't mind green och herbal notes but this... This has the same disgusting green notes that Angel has, I believe it's the caraway that gives off that bitter liquorice scent. If you don't like Angel don't get this. This is like angel with red berries. Failed blind buy for me.

fruity, sweet, nice everyday EDP, and later on strong powdery

This used to be my guilty pleasure - always affordable and easy to wear despite that terrible cap design. The original Magnetism was playful but seductive, that rare mix of fun and allure. It smelled like mulberries for me - juicy, mysterious, slightly dark. It had layers; it had soul. There was a sweetness that wasn’t naive. It was kind of sensual, magnetic, and just a little dangerous. The bottle I bought in 2022 (from Europe, batch 4242) smells nothing like that. The fragrance opens green and flat, stripped of its creamy amber core. The vanilla-berry warmth that once made Magnetism addictive is gone. Technically, it smells like a post-IFRA reformulation. Cheaper musks and coumarin replacing the old vanilla-amber complex. The evolution is gone. I have an emotional connection; but this fragrance is no longer what is used to be. It has lost its je ne sais quoi, that little spark. It’s still inexpensive, but somehow far too expensive for what it has become. A once magnetic perfume that now feels demagnetized; technically clean and emotionally empty.

Ohhh this one is good! It opens with a slightly spicy and boozy pineapple and I love it! Amazing that it is also fresh yet full bodied and complex, due to this it reminds me of Chacharels Yes I am! Not the same but related.

This is bright, green and a bit soapy on the top, then it starts to settle into something a bit more complex in the mid. I can’t even describe it. I can’t really pick up specific notes, it gets much warmer and sexier. But it’s very pretty overall. Mine is not very sweet. This is surprising to me given the sweet base notes. I’m glad for this as I don’t typically love a sweet scent. Sounds like there’s a lot of different batches or possibly formulations of this but I’m happy with the one I have. It’s very pretty and a great date night scent. I also feel like it would be great in any season!

This is evil to my nose. It smells like a worse version of Britney Spears Fantasy Intense, that one is better though in my opinion. I think it's trying too hard. It has a playdough note, like if playdough were a super green minty sweet soap. Maybe I've smelled this before on others growing up. It doesn't smell good on my skin either. I know the BS and this both have patchouli but there's something Christmasy and fake about this fragrance that I just can't get over.

I've reviewed this before from a bottle I repurchased, and I'm not sure if my nose has changed, or the batches are different. I still own my original bottle from 2006, so that's what I'm comparing recent formulations to. I purchased a bottle from Nordstrom rack a few years ago and that was super green smelling, so I returned it. Then I decided to give it another chance when I spotted at Burlington and that bottle was good. Unfortunately it got stolen, so fast forward a year or so and purchased a new bottle at Burlington and that one smelled a little green and super litchi and pineapple heavy! I decided to return it. Yesterday I purchased a bottle from Ross and this one smells good. I can faintly smell the green note in the middle but it fades quickly and smells very similar to my original bottle. The top notes are faded from my original bottle, but I like to keep it for nostalgia.

I have had this sweetie for many years now, (second bottle I think, plus I have the body spray) and it really is a lovely summer fragrance. But since I only use it in summer, it will last me very long. Especially since I now have many more fragrances to choose between, than I had ca 2008, when I first bought it. I also had a mini of 5 ml before that, which was a gift with a magazine. By then, they were more generous with those things. Nowadays, you will get maybe a 1 ml sample, if they are in a grand mood…. Nostalgic for me, but still modern!

This pulls unisex on paper. I’m not sure what it’s like on my skin but honestly, if you like fruity minty scents as a man, give this a sample and see if you’d wear it!

I call it Baby Angel. One of my favorites. So sweet soft and clean.

This opens like a bunch of red berries with a vanilla&caramel sauce. It’s sweet yes but not a sugar bomb. Rather lightweight. Mine’s quite recent and not as charming as I expected it to be so I don’t think it’s something you have to hunt for. But it’s still a pleasant day to day carefree scent.

Went through 3-4 bottles when it first launched back in 2003. Bought a bottle today for the sake of nostalgia. I’m in love all over again 😍. Hopefully it performs as it did before but for $19.99, I won’t complain either way 😇.

I love this fragrance - it smells fresh, a little green, fruity, and floral and can easily be worn year round.

A very mysterious, complex and modern scent thats close to love. In character it reminds me of a less dense Gucci Rush. Red berries, sweet resins and musk, and sugared florals. It is versatile and fit for a signature. It suits free time better than professional environment because it is sexy and glamorous. Lovely creation. Next morning I feel a musky, modern echo of it. I did not expect that since Magnetism is of medium strength, but it is nice to see it being such a good performer.
