Now this is the big brother of bois imperial, the more mature brother that has life experience rather than his younger brother. This is a more mature version of bois imperial, this has much more depth than the original, this very potent which for this i give it a love, like there are two versions of bois imperial, one is the greener more universal, the other is the more mature woody, rose, spicy, sexy fragrance that you would go with, you can go with both of them, both are perfect in their own ways. The only con i have with this is that this is 30ml, i think this kills it a lot because the normal bois imperial is 100ml and is a signature universal worthy scent but of course high cost ingredients means lower ml... An amazing fragrance nonetheless, for spring, fall, and winter, this is a winter signature scent in my opinion, very alluring as well. Personally i do not see this fragrance being used in the summer, it is too potent. Now this version is actually on the men side, this is very masculine fragrance, women can use this as well but in my eyes, this version is a man's fragrance. What can i say, perfection at it's finest, the price again i won't say much, you be the judge, last but not least, personally for me, i prefer Bois Imperial over the extrait. Overall: 9.2/10.
Beautifully blended. THIS is what I call soapy and clean! Usually, I have no fucking idea what people mean when they describe a fragrance as “soapy” or “clean,” but this right here is the very definition of soapy. I would understand someone calling this soapy far more than I would understand them saying the same about Imagination! It’s so incredibly beautiful, clean, and lovely. The florals are perfectly balanced for a masculine fragrance, never overpowering or overdone. Everything feels so effortlessly well-blended, with just the right amount of floral elegance without sacrificing its masculinity. Quentin Bisch absolutely cooked with this one, and that’s coming from someone who isn’t even particularly a fan of Amouage fragrances!
Enticing intial blast, then underwhelming synthetic pretence. All artforms including perfumery are being systemically dumbed down with cheap ingredients and cooky cutter scent profiles,
A denser version of Bois Imperial, if that's somehow possible. Less sharp and metallic and more spicy to my nose. As it dries down, it smells more and more like a fir tree in a forest. Must admit I prefer the original.
One of my patients came in smelling extremely nice and I asked him what he was wearing. He showed me the EDP Bois Imperiale. It smelled so clean with a great Sillage. I could smell him wherever he went. I was inclined to get it immediately, but stopped as I saw that there was an extrait version. As I know myself loving fragrances with a certain depth, I blind bought the extrait version that came a while back. The opening is peppery, spicy. But you can smell the original DNA right away. It immediately felt denser and more refined than the OG. As the fragrance continued to develop you get oudy undertones with only HINTS of rose - which I appreciate. Rose can be too oriental or soapy for me. I love you you can smell yourself the entire day. Whafts of spicy warm slightly leathery goodness with each move. Not overpowering, but definitely let people know you're there. I enjoy this very natural smelling scent. I feel grounded and present wearing this scent. Powerful? Yeah. Well put together, and being an authority. This fragrance is very sophisticated and deep, more masculine leaning imho. Projection is OK, but the Sillage I was told is strong. People smell me before they see me - in a good way. As I work in a hospital, my unit is used to me smelling bomb all the time. 😂 Longevity is amazing and kinda expected for an extrait. 12hrs on skin! Is it worth the price of almost 100€ for 30ml? Meeeeh, I'm on the fence about it, but since it's Niche and more natural than synthetic I'd say Yes-ish. Is it redundant to own both EDP and Extrait? I'd say no. Both are great but in different categories. EDP has amazing and captivating projection, feels youthful and adventurous, also will pull in compliments. The Extrait is the older brother that gets shit done. More serious. More down to earth. Definitely worth trying.
Definitely sits denser and richer than the EDP. However I find the scent to be identical; save for the denser and richer texture. If you like the original you’d also like this but I don’t think you necessarily need to own both. 8/10.
Almost paper-like woody scent with labdanum and bit of sweet twist. Minimalistic and functional.
Bois Impérial Extrait is a fantastic, modern and sexy fragrance, noticeably more rounded than the EDP. It’s a beautiful blend of woody sweetness, peppery facets, and a subtle leathery touch that makes it perfect for nighttime wear. I originally wanted to purchase the EDP, but the Extrait suits my skin and personality much better. It’s very strong, so two sprays are more than enough. Over the past two months I’ve received so many compliments while wearing it – it’s a real confidence booster. What I don’t understand, though, is the general comparison between the EDP/Extrait and Ganymede. To me, they are completely different perfumes.
Fresh, sophisticated and lingering. It holds onto you hard and will linger on you for a while. It opens with a beautiful, peppery spiciness with a rosy background. As it dries down the woodsy notes start to come out and the spice settles. Such a great fragrance. Not appropriate for the hot weather. Feels more mature and elevated than your average freshie and leans more green once it dries down.
Way smoother, thicker, sweeter and nicer compared to the sharp edp one
The original Bois Imperial is one of my least favorite hyped fragrances. To me the original EDP opens with nice fresh woods, buth then dries down into an eternal akigalawood and old black pepper note that gives me a headache if I don't scrub it off in time. This extrait spins that note development on its head. The opening of the extrait is peppery and akigalawood heavy but as it dries down you are met with fresher and fresher notes. After about an hour of wear, the peppery akigalawood becomes a saffron-leaning suede layered with cedar, giving off an almost newspaper-like smell, it sounds strange, almost a cousin of the notes in Ganymede, but it smells amazing. A few hours later the suede note develops into a rose note and with it introduces a subtle sweetness that smells like the timur berry note in Wild Vetiver. Over the next couple of hours the florals evaporate and you are left with a fresh pine note, over the next few hours this note slowly loses freshness and becomes a dry woods/vetiver fragrance. Between Bois Imperial EDP, Extrait, B-683 and Ganymede this is the best version of all of those. The projection is there, room filling for the first four hours, and becoming a skin scent by the 8th hour. This longevity/projection would be good in a linear fragrance but this is a complex fragrance that evolves on skin and that makes this truly excellent performance. I would recommend this fragrance to anyone who wants the Bois Imperial projection, but wants something more complex.
This is like the original, but much more intense, and with more rose and more pink and black pepper. It's a little bit too much for me, although it's not unpleasant--the rose blends really nicely with the peppers and cuts down on their sharpness. This is overpriced.
To my nose, this is like the base of the original with basil greenness removed, with some non-stinky oud and a touch of rose mixed in. Not too close to the original at all
The scent of paradise... the scent of a dream...
i absolutely love the edp. should i sample the extrait?
I am on the fence with this one! I know this is crazy but keep getting a whiff of Raid! I will have to try wearing this again!
To be honest, I was disappointed by how little it differs from the original. The performance is truly outstanding, but the scent is about 90% identical to Bois Impérial. After buying Ganymede and Amberful, I sold my bottle of Bois Impérial. I thought the Extrait version might be deeper, darker, and more niche—something I could even make my signature scent in a 30 ml bottle. Unfortunately, it just smelled like a stronger version of Bois Impérial. The thing is, the original Bois Impérial already has excellent performance. So, in my opinion, this Extrait version is quite unnecessary.
Think of Ganymede and some Epic (Amouage) to tone it down and you have Bois Imperial.
There is no difference from the edp version in terms of scent profile. Longevity is good but sillage is moderate. For this price, I definitely prefer the original.
a nice fresh overtone on a bright pepper base with a subtle woody/earthy background
Very culinary, spicy, and not interesting.
To me this smells like every arab oud & rose fragrance but more airy. It is light but not to be confused with underperforming. Still beast mode projection of proly about 2m radius. I get mostly oudy/woody & fruity/floral nuances. And I'm not an expert but more like agaroud than atlas and more fruity than floral (rose), it's like it's not rose but rose jam. Reminds me of shaghaf oud (that i don't own but have tested in store) but if they made it for summer/ year-round. I wouldn't say this is worth the 98-132 euro per 30ml personally to me. Now how long do i have to wait still for this to dissappear so i can test the original!?
Two sprays on my neck and I could smell this beast jumping off me immediately though after some wear I found you do get accustomed to it more easily. The scent is so clean, fresh and yet becoming more sophisticated and woody in the mid though not as close to oud wood as some reviews say, definitely more a slight reminder style. The OG Bois imperial keeps the freshness around for longer I would say and probably better for summer daytime, this version definitely smells heavier on the opening with a warmer spicy profile kicking in a lot sooner, definitely making it feel a bit more suit and tie event. A 30ml bottle is kind of mean as it makes this alot more expensive per spray as I paid over 100 euro for it. The OG is 100ml yet similar priced but this one has a much higher oil concentration to give it more strength and power. A couple of the big frag heads took a pop at this saying its inferior to the OG which is bullshit to be honest, it comes down to your preference, if you want Bois Imperial as a daily signature go with the OG or if you just need a very strong performing version tweaked to grab attention for evenings/dates now and again pick this one.
Great fragrance, very potent and woodsy. The only downside is that it comes in 30ml. We need 100ml of this gorgeous liquid!
Old school smelling
The original amped up X 3. Pleasant huge Pepper onslaught bodied out with an ambery balsam smoothering everything. After an hour or two its softens a bit letting the woods come out a bit. Beyond that it turns slightly sweaty (which happens often when you have high oil content) and the dark base comes in turning this back into a bit more of a freshy like the original. Whilst the opening is strong dont let peoples comments scare you, two to three hours in and its more sedate (definitely not the strongest perfume sillage Ive ever tried but it tries). This is the winter version - the OG is for summer but they are different - again dont let peoples comments mislead you - the original is fresh and brisk, this is warming and statement seeking but after a few hours will evolve into something slightly fresher. I loathe the comments about the price. Its still great but rather I find the technical performance whilst nice to be over hyped.
Smells like baby powder on steroids
Masculine sharp woody masculine straight to the point. I believe the sharpness came from the black pepper, but my God was it good. I must try this again asap and test it. But honestly I don't know why but the opening smells like Coca Cola
To me, this must be one of the best smelling perfumes I have owned. It starts with an almost leathery note, comforting and warm. Then in the heart it slowly evolves into a rounded rose / woody smell. As someone has stated earlier, it may compare to Tom Ford Oud Wood in this stage. Next stages gives you a warm, rounded, embracing Woody note with balsamic fir and labdanum. And it lasts until the next day on my skin. Magnificent!
If you own the original you don't need to get this right away. But maybe you buy this one after you finished the original. I like the opening a lot, the dry down is mostly just original Bois imperial. This does not have the same bang for buck as the original has but is still a good buy nonetheless.
