Remarkable People is a fragrance for those who are in fact so remarkable that they do not need a scent to raise them up. For ELDO this feels rather safe and generic (Which may in fact be a good thing compared to their...other masterpieces). The champagne note is brilliant but wears off in 10 seconds, drying down into a kind of fougere.
On me this smells like a melted orange calippo mixed with a gentle whiff of post-curry BO. It's definitely unlike anything else I've smelled, and a solid choice for a hot summers day, but not on me.
This opens with a very pleasant fresh grapefruit and otherwise nondescript citrus fizz, bolstered by lively shades of champagne beigeness (like viewing a summer picnic through the full glass) and a distinct cardamom woodiness. It's very soft and affecting, but then the curry spice appears and adds a slightly skin-like spice, almost like cumin but not as skanky. There's a weird, sandalwood-like dryness that dominates the base, again very gently—is that the Lorenox? I also get whiffs of floral sweetness here and there, akin to jasmine. Remarkable People is remarkable in that it's a very discreet, gentle scent, with just barely 8 hours of longevity and maybe 2-3 inches of sillage, so don't expect monster performance here. It brings to mind the beigey freshies of the late '90s, things like Allure and Dune, only here the whole affair is subdued. Nice, but perhaps a bit underpowered.
When I was younger I was the wine steward at a Michelin rated restaurant. And opening highly priced champagne was one of the most stressful bits of the job because with age the corks tend to dry out and can rip apart if you twist too hard. But once you heard that POP and the effervescent hay like smell wafted up to your nose you felt this huge relief. This fragrance instantly brought back that memory for me. It’s such a fun loving, happy fragrance I think I have to get a bottle. It reminds me a great deal of Hermes’s Un Jardin series…which I love.
The ultimate fizzy, feel-good summer fragrance. Remarkable People was an instant favorite from the moment I first sprayed it. The opening is a fantastic, fizzy, and bubbly citrus experience that feels remarkably upbeat. It’s not just another citrus scent; there is a certain "sparkle" to the opening that really sets it apart. After wearing this properly on my skin, my rating remains a solid 10/10. It is a masterclass in joyful, outgoing summer perfumery. The champagne note is genuinely impressive—it provides a realistic, effervescent fizz that lifts the smooth grapefruit and cardamom notes perfectly. The background sweetness is perfectly dosed, which keeps the scent rounded and inviting without ever becoming cloying. If you’re looking for a scent for social events, celebrations, or just a day when you want to feel uplifted, this is an absolute go-to. It’s officially earned a permanent spot in my summer rotation. Note: I don't actually own this fragrance; I am writing this review based on my experience with the official Etat Libre d'Orange discovery set.
Soft, slightly spicy odeur with a chemical backtone. Would be better named "Unremarkable People". Not bad though.
a bit too boozy for me in the opening. dry down is mostly the spice of cardamon and some soft sandalwood, but it's not that interesting, especially considering its poor performance.
This was a really good experience. It's such a joyous perfume! For me it smells like a sunny spring day, you're at home and it's an early saturday, you're doing a brunch with some close friends in the patio, and the breeze hits your garden which is a light white floral scent, all while you're making mimosas. The champagne and grapefruit is what you get the most in that sense, but when it dries down it leaves most of the citrus out and it's just a nice, sweet but not overly so scent, a bit spicy too, but very very mild. Really good for summer too, it smells like a piece of happiness. 8/10
there are a couple scents from etdl that incorporate spices in an unpleasant way to me. this is luckily not one of them. the sparkling grapefruit is the main note, the curry and pepper make this lightly spicy and edible in a way that doesn’t overshadow the citrus. overall, not a bad scent
Remarkable People is a lovely uplifting citrus. The title of the fragrance describes it well. I imagine this scent complementing a morning person who's focused on an ambitious work project from the first minutes of a day. The champagne note associates with success and winning.
A warm subtle spicy scent. The cardimum is really amplified on my skin. Think a slice of cardimum carrot cake with a glass of sparling water. Unfortunately, there's a chemically smell (I guess the Lorenox) that ruins it for me. It's a shame because it's otherwise a lovely scent.
Bubbly and fizzy grapefruit on the first spritz. On the dry down, it leaves an intimate trail of dry sandalwood, which I love, and I hoped it would project more though—nonetheless, a very safe blind buy. This is something I'd wear to work if I had important clients coming in. But nothing to write home about, sadly. She's pleasant, a crowdpleaser, and probably the easiest scent to wear from ELdO lol
To me, Remarkable People opens with a sweet orange note paired with a supposed champagne accord. While pleasant at first, the sweetness leans a bit too heavy for my taste and could become headache-inducing in hot, humid Asian weather. Unfortunately, it also lacks depth and ultimately feels somewhat flat and bland.
Unlike a lot of ELdOs this one is very wearable and easy to use.
“Remarkable People” from Etat Libre d'Orange opens with a champagne like sweet citrus smell. I could not smell the kardamon very well, the opening notes were good but if you werent looking for any smells it smelled like a generic perfume like “fruity sweet” type of smell. After 90 minutes It starts settling down into a subtle spicy, curry like smell. Not in a greasy coying way, but a sweet roasting of spices in preparation for a dish smell. Unfortunately it (atleast on my skin) had such minimal projection you could barely notice it. This was unusual considering how strong the opening notes are. (2 sprays on the neck, 1 on each wrist)The whole experience only lasted 5 hours as after that you could not pick up anything. Overall the opening notes were a bit disappointing as they lacked the complexity I expect from a dedicated perfume house. I guess the 30 minutes were it settles down into the mid notes are the best. But overall I cant not recommend this fragrance especially for the price. Worn on a warm, spring day. June 3rd Final score, 5/10
I somehow snagged a 50ml for 36usd and i am so glad I did! This is wonderful. A very sexy and sensual citrus. It dries down very sandalwood-y and sweet on me. Perfect scent for hot summer sunsets.
This may be my favorite scent from ELdO. It's a bight, bubbly citrus at the front. As the night wears on, this scent melts into a warm woody sheath. A shame it doesn't seem to last as long as other ELdO scents do on me.
Sweet, fruity, white-floral, boozy, musky, smooth spicy, slightly woody & effervescent. Perfectly balanced and has a drydown arc, the more you sniff the more you'll like it. Has a good sillage and longevity. Feminine, comforting and attractive. Unique spicey-fizzy-fruity-floral scent. I like this one.
I thought this was Uniqe remarkable fragrance however it is simple spicy sweet scent, it makes contrast with its name I guess
Smells like a cedar br soap my mom used to use when I was little.
It has a warmer feel than other reviews indicate in my opinion. The warm spice carries quite a bit so I seek to wear this as the weather gets a little colder
To me this smells like the San pellegrino aranciata lemonades. Had to wear it on my solo vacay in Milan and it couldn’t be a more fitting occasion.
Despite ELDO having unisex fragrances, they ALL still lean traditionally feminine. I'm surprised people question the champagne note; because thats the one aspect of this scent - is the realistic bubbly aroma - id say its one of the best champagne notes on the market, as well as the grapefruit. . . However, thats where the good things end, I didn't like it but could see someone very fixated on this one note, would adore this. ELDO isnt a house for me, despite their generous sample sets, ive disliked everything from the house.
I bought an official sample online without smelling it in person beforehand. After spraying, it smells strongly like grapefruit, but very little to no smell of champagne. Maybe because I don't know how champagne really smells like 👀. I let it sit for a bit, and after like maybe 5 minutes I smell it again and it smells like gingerbread! I asked my sister to smell it, she said it didn't smell like that, but it does to me. I searched it up, cardamom is used sometimes in gingerbread, so maybe it's the cardamom. Smells cozy tho, but the grapefruit smell doesn't last long. Maybe I'll change my mind after longer use.
I forgot that I had a sample before and I didn't really like it. :D To me the champagne note is not very pleasant and doesn't go away. This perfume stays definitely for a long time. I will layer it. My first experiment was with Guerlain Mandarin Basilic, it really helps. Makes it citrusy and fresh.
I mean it smells similar to Never Ending Summer by MM, but way softer...wouldn't buy it again but its okay fragrance
Notes on the brand's website: Top notes: Grapefruit, Champagne Accord, Cardamom Heart notes: Jasmin, Curry Neo Jungle Essence™, Black Pepper Base notes: Labdanum, Sandalwood, Lorenox™ I instantly got a citrus-y hint off this and absolutely no pepper which I'm quite shocked at considering I'd never wear a perfume with a note of black pepper! Lovely scent
smells like being drunk off mimosas at 11am on a sunday
this one is really fun, happy scent, crazy how you actually do get champagne/prosecco notes, very sweet citrus with it and slight floral herbal undernotes, pretty subtle but it's there, it's almost like a paloma cocktail or a french 75 sadly it doesn't last very long, fades and dies down pretty quick, might be one of the least lasting ones in ELdO's lineup so far I feel like this is the perfect fragrance for a new year's eve in the southern hemisphere or any summer celebration honestly, super fun and uplifting, would definitely wear it on a few occasions but not enough to justify getting a bottle
about three hours after application on my skin all i get is a pithy citrus, on my sweater i get a sweeter/spicier quality- something food-like about it, almost cakey. i've had champagne fragrances that really give a sense of bubbles/carbonation that this does not. it's just ok
