Vanilla wafers. To vote this smells like LNDL is criminal! Some of you must’ve gotten the overly sweet batches of GG EDP because that one there is a Boss scent.. powdery, woody, black vanilla husk. This Society here is a disappointment for me personally. It’s 90% nilla, 6% sage, 4% Smokey. Unisex. Definitely not formal nor office leaning. Youthful. Reminds me of the cake’y vanilla found in Imperium. Cold days/nights only, needs a cool breeze to compliment this type of scent.
Strong cardamom opening. I did not smell anything "waxy" or "crayon-like". Herbal vibe is there through the dry down and then transforms into something somehow fresh, woody and subtly sweet, without being too much or cloying. Vanilla is there but it does not steal the show. Both are mature and masculine but this perfume feels less sweet, more formal and suit n tie compared to Gentleman EDP. I can easily imagine this scent on a white collar. I enjoyed this scent but sadly it is not for me. The classic and heavy bottle design really fits the vibe of this perfume. 7.5/10.
Spicy, woody, and a little sweet. It is a safe date night fragrance that suits the sophisticated man. Performance is the let down as it becomes a skin scent in about 3 hours.
niche fragrance experience for a designer price
A classic masculine scent that is ideal for a night out date or a formal meeting. For my experienced nose it has one of the most well-blended openings i have ever smelled. It hits you with impressive woody and aromatic notes , particularly - cardamom being pivotal, while the scent itself getting warmer and warmer after the drydown but never overly annoyingly sweet. It lasts longest on a cool weather, (at around 7-8hr mark its a pleasant skin scent that still gets me compliments) which i fortunately get here for half a year so i have the pleasure to wear this one quite often in the evenings. The house of Givenchy has always been one of my favorites as it doesn't follow todays' trend of producing overly sweet headache inducing fragrances and im more than glad for it. To sum up, a masculine fragrance worth of attention and time from every fragrance enthusiasist. Scent 9.9/10 Longevity 8.5/10 Sillage 7/10 Ps. Im not sure if they made reformulated versions without changing notes but after buying the second bottle of it a couple weeks ago, it definitely performs better than EDP Extreme version, really impressed.
I have a sample of this and it smells like you entered an expensive store and you smell something so calming and good in the air and wonder what is it? This is really nice Edit: drydown gets sweeter and I don’t like it as much as the opening
Tried this one n store previously and wasn't wowed, but recently was given a free sample of it. Something clicked and it very quickly became one I had to get a bottle of. It's classy and grown up, it's interesting but would say it feels mass-appealing too, it has both warmth and some subtle, clean/fresh qualities. As such it can be worn all year, but I would avoid days of high heat (but could work in the evening as things cool down). I prefer it to the Extreme, and to the Ambree flankers.
Very strong, woody but sweet opening. I agree with a lot of people saying it has a harsh, almost "too strong" opening to some extent, however I don't fully see it as a complete negative. It is telling me from the beginning "Yes, I last. Yes, I am powerful. Yes, I am sweet but also savoury." I have received more compliments from this than from anything else I have worn, and around maybe 80% of those were during the Summer months but I'll be honest, I rarely wear this in the summer because it is in it's entirety a very wintery fragrance. The warmth and cosiness it brings is unmistakably a direct calling for cold weather, and that ideology is strengthened by the fact that in warm settings, the sweetness does get to be almost too much for many people. The longevity of this fragrance is undeniably very good. That's all there really is to say; I mean obviously it will vary with different people's skin, but for myself and a lot of other people that I know have tried it, it lasts at least 10 hours, if not more. Over time, the woodiness doesn't fade all that much until you get to the very end, where it turns into a lush sweetness, still maintaining some of that wood and vanilla, but I find it is most sweet at around 7 hours in. Genuinely one of my favourite winter fragrances, 9/10
Not a bad fragrance by any means, but it's another one of those "the flankers are better" frags. It's fairly uninspiring, but very safe. Performance is good. If you want something like this that has that 'X' Factor, then look into trying Extreme or Ambree instead.
If you enjoy the actual smell and performance of the new vanilla-sentric scents for men that are so prevalent in the past several years, but you find them to be a bit too youthful or juvenile for your taste then this fragrance does an excellent job of taking that DNA and making it lean formal. While not overly potent it can be used in the office environment, just tone down the sprays. That also goes for very warm weather. If you are going out and it's going to be nice weather then this does have slightly above average performance so that's another positive. But the best thing about it is that women absolutely love the way it smells and I think it's the most well done of the new, sweetened fragrance trend and it's the only one that doesn't showcase iris as the main accord such as DHI, Valentino Uomo Intense, Bleu Noir Parfum and even the original Valentino Uomo. While I definitely love all of those as nice, well put together, formal and good performing scent profiles, this one is right there with them and that is quite a pack of fragrances to be in. So I think that if you enjoy any of those then you can most likely blind buy this one and have absolutely no concerns. Get your nose on it if you can. Out of the 3 Gentleman Society releases this and Ambre' are the two to have.
I like the dry down but the opening has this chemically synthetic smell that smells like nail polish remover, sharpie, or wet paint. Update: I like the way it projects long after the dry down. It's just the opening im not a fan of. This fragrance lasts a while however. I was testing this on skin with some other samples and when those scents faded this scents dry down remained on skin. Edit: Im switching to like because the dry down is very nice and lasts long with slight projection.
Inoffensive, pleasant, but also entirely forgettable, lacking a unique character. Even as a dumb reach, there are better options. Prada L'Homme has a soapy, clean feeling; TdH has an earthy, flinty note. I can't find anything in this that stands out. A rare miss by Givenchy.
It's classy but nothing memorable for me. Maybe I should revisit.
Not a huge fan of the opening, but the dry down is really nice. Gotten a few compliments at work while wearing this. The vanilla is what I think compliments all the other ingredients. I have layered it with Boss Bottled Infinite and its quite nice. Doesn't last a long time, kind of a downer in that regard.
My favorite of the Givenchy line. The most wearable (for me). Aromatic cardamom and woody-floral opening, light vanilla mixed with "pale aromatic bark" (the experience that come to mind) and Vetiver underneath. Dries down to a semi-sweet woody vanilla. Longevity is right in the middle of the road and will get you through most of the day (just don't expect projection). I'm not normally a fan of vanilla, but this is amazing.
This is the perfect formal event scent. It's like a nutty, deep green forest. If you're looking for something unique, this is the one. It's definitely the dark horse of my collection. It's masculine and mysterious, though not completely blind-buy safe. As a younger guy, I believe that older men would appreciate this a lot more than the youth.
Love this one. The gentleman line gets no love for how great their scent profile is. Very unique and smells like money. Manly and distinctive, a diamond in the ruff. Obviously a gatekeepers dream.
One of greatest smell of all time
I need another one
slightly crayon like with a business smell to it almost if you were a CEO
At first blush, I thought this might be too floral for me. It had body, density -- a soft edged, alert and coiling presence from just one spray on paper. And then it reached my skin. The sweet depths that I worried would be cloying instead unfurled. Out came the soft and sturdy grounding of the sage and sandalwood and the lightness of the vetiver. Initially threatening in their sweetness, the vanilla and daffodil settled into something pillowy and complex. This scent feels like an elk in spring -- light footed and bodied, grand and unto himself. It settles into an inviting depth of presence I find myself returning to again and again.
This is one of those fragrances where the drydown is far superior to the opening. It opens with a rosy, aromatic, waxy scent—like candles or crayons; along with a salty, savory, and earthy undertone. In the drydown, the aromatics pull back as the creamy vanilla note becomes more prominent. It reminds me faintly of Stronger With You Absolutely. I think this is a safe daily-wear, especially in professional environments; and isn't a very common scent signature. It's just that polarizing opening holds it back, in my opinion. ✅Great
Not perfect just good.
This is the one that got me into smelly water so will alwys have this one in my heart. Kind of smells like a cocoa butter lotion on me. Love it.
When I first smelled this in the mall I couldnt figure out what this smelled like. Finally I orded of discounters and when it got to my house and smelled it again I figured it out. Some may or may not agree with me but if you take out the rum and calm down the vanilla in SWY absolutely this is pretty close to what you would get. This is slightly more geared towards a slightly older man. My son even likes the smell but wont wear it, hes 15 and in HS he said when hes a little older hes gonna buy him some of this. Men your your an individual whos more of a dressed up well put together man, neatly groomed, and want to stand out this is a great fragrance for you. Its mature but a playfull scent. This pairs great with a suit and tie, chinos and a button up or polo, even some nice jeans and polo or button up. Men, just do yourself a favor and grab this, if your not a well put together man and younger looking for a fragrance to go clubbing in this isnt it, this is for the men not boys. Picture dressed to the 9s, surrounded by other gentlemen, women in cocktail dresses, a cocktail waitress, a server in a suit, with a man playing the piano, this is that in a bottle
I own this frangrance and i love it but its for older people.
Nose note #28: Note: Review from a 2 mL test sample, not the full bottle. I was delighted to first sniff this perfume, but even after a few days, I can't tell what's wrong with the fragrance; it could be the palo santo note or that it becomes a skin scent so easily, but there's something attached to it that makes me not buy it. Strong cardamom blended with palo santo and creamy rich vanilla. Bad performance and unisex leaning. I definitely would stick to the Reserve Privee or the Ambrée. Occasion-wise, I would wear it in spring or fall and in semi-formal events; it is not recommended in summer events. Price: Gift from the store Rate: 7/10
This is absolutely stunning on a man. Starts out like Homme Dior Intense with less powder and then morphs into it's own sexy thing, fresh, herbal, woody and dark with just the right amount of sweetness. This Gentleman is sophisticated, dressed in a suit whose confidence is understated yet magnetic. This is the warm and mysterious scent that makes a man irresistible in my book. Great longevity. In love.
A beautiful fragrance. It’s creamy and bright at the same time; it really shines in cooler weather, which helps it last longer. In my opinion, it’s the best fragrance in the mainstream lineup...
@bella B your description made me buy this .. let's see how it's matches your words..
