L’Ange Noir

This is such a pretty pretty scent!!! I love it so much but the dry down smells like straight up men’s colonge :( all the beautiful notes of iris tonka ambrette and almond fades away completely after 4-5 hours or so and i’m left with masculine colonge scent so i have to keep reapplying this also i don’t get pink pepper at all from this thank god i’m so sensitive to pink peoper even in the slightest amount but this doesn’t bother me wich is nice

It smells a lot like pencil shavings mixed with lipstick? Very odd. I believe the issue lies with the middle notes (white iris and sesame) as I've never gotten bad impressions of the other notes in different fragrances L'Ange Noir smells quite mature. It's a 'serious' smelling fragrance with a unisex quality (but still leaning more towards feminine) Unfortunately I don't like this. It's not harsh or insufferable, but it's lacking some liveliness for my personal taste

It was a blind buy based on recommendations. I got it NIB for around $100 on eBay. The bottle is really ugly due to the nasty black glitter crust that they put on the bottom of the bottle that flakes everywhere when you pick it up.... Honestly, the initial spray smells a lot like pencil shavings. I'm really surprised nobody else has pointed this out. Once it's dry the pencil shaving smell dissipates and you're left with powdery iris and bready/yeasty sesame with some pepperiness. There is also a definite waxiness to this fragrance, and I can't pick up on the almond but I think it's adding a creamy vibe. I think the name is pretty fitting. It gives me the vibe of a dark fallen angel who now lives in a very dusty abandoned mansion with velvet furniture. I'm still deciding how I feel about it so I will update at a later date. Update- It's really grown on me and is a top 10 fragrance for me now. Something about it is so addicting. Would recommend for lovers of vintage lipsticky scents. Lasts an extremely long time with good sillage as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a dark and alluring aura.

I had a weird relationship with this perfume. First of all, it was a blind buy, so when I received it and for a few months after I thought I liked it a lot (maybe biased to convince myself it was a successful blind buy?). But the more I tried it, the more that bready note stood out to me along with the waxy, starchy iris and together they ruined the fragrance for me. Sometimes it even reminded me of new books and magazines, the ones with colors and glossy, heavy pages (it's a scent I love so much but wouldn't want to wear as a perfume). I ended up putting it up for sale and, to my surprise, it was gone in a few hours. It was a guy who bought it btw.

It seems to me, that one morning someone just woke up remembering a nightmare, and decided to design the hideous bottle for this perfume. The bottle is covered with some crust, therefore very unpleasant to touch, and awkward to hold, because of its' shape. It has a cheap (black!) plastic sprayer, bottom of which is clearly visible, when the bottle is not full, and, as a cherry on top, so to speak, has an equally cheap plastic cap, which can be put on in only one particular way, in order for the bottle to be closed. I'm going to transfer the juice to another container, so I won't have to deal with this horror. Another unpleasant surprise is the opening: The first 5-10 minutes after spraying is confusing, on a bad day a headache inducing, mix of chemicals, among which I can smell some (tire) rubber. Fortunately, that soon transforms on my skin into a super make-up and lipstick-like, satin-smooth, warm, very feminine powder, quite pleasant to be honest, which I really like, and which can be quite addictive. It lasts for many hours, although the initial huge projection diminishes after a few hours, which is a good thing... I think I understand the name of this perfume: Soft, smooth, delicate and silky juice - just like an angel - put it into an ugly, crusty, horned bottle, and given a horrid spiky and rubbery crown, as an opening, and - vois là! Now you know, you have actually created a black angel, although, perhaps, the intentions were opposite. But we all know what is paved with good intentions, don't we? Perhaps, after a few more months (or years?) the opening will be more user-friendly, but I know that Givenchy can, and should, do much better than l'ange noir.

This is a voluptuous Iris almond fragrance that would kill in the niche market. It’s sexy intoxicating sweet makeup powder and lipstick. A dark and sensual take on the powdery vintage profile. I love it and I’m glad I got it recently for a great price. The bottle is…for a lack of better vocabulary really tacky. This would be better suited to a bottle akin to PDMs Athalia. All the greats always get discontinued for lack of sales for sure. If it’s not a fruity floral the designer market can’t sustain it. It’s similar to lipstick on, just less vanilla. Another ridiculous discontinuation. Happy to have this in my lipstick powder scent rotation.

Even though sesame provides an oily base to the lipstick here, the amount of almonds is high. A more wonderful lipstick scent could have been achieved with less almonds.

32y male here. Been using it for the last 10 years, and have plenty of backup bottles. I love it. love it. love it. It is a fragrance I use during cold nights out, dressed in black with a specific vibe for flirting and more. It really completes me. Maison Crivelli's Iris Malikhan is day and night dark one. Maison Marguella's Lipstick On is a day-dark one. But L'Ange Noir is full of dark(ness).

I was looking for a sexy lipstick scent and settled on this fragrance after a bit of research. It’s soft & powdery, elegant & waxy, maybe even elusive and mysterious. But not quite the “sexy” I was looking for. I don't smell the lilac at all, mostly just the tonka bean and musk. It is pretty though.

I bought a partial bottle to try (2016 batch code) recently and have been testing it out. I know it is more of a wintry perfume, but I think I now have a good feel for it, after several full-day wears, with occasional reapplication. (It's almost summer, but here in northern Idaho, it has not gotten hot yet.) I discovered l'Interdit Intense a few months ago and really liked that uncommon sesame note, which l'Ange Noir definitely shares. They're both clearly made by the same house. They do remind me of each other. I'm a sucker for iris and lipstick perfumes, and I love "dark" perfumes. This definitely has some good isomethyl alpha ionones in the initial stage, but it ultimately dries down to a generic, almost "men's cologne"-territory, tonka-based perfume, on my skin at least. My experience with l'Ange Noir is the same as that with La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu: gorgeous sweet iris on top, and a generic base that is both unpleasant and harsh. I don't hate it, but the prominent tonka is forcing me to rate it as just "ok."

Is there any other perfume that creates such a unique lipsticky goth wearable nutty beautiful amazing profile? No! (Actually if there is let me know because I can't find a bottle of this anywhere). Just amazing, confident sexy alluring broad shouldered 90s supermodel type energy but edgy in such a unique way.

What a bewitching scent! On first sniff I was convinced I didn't like it but then I kept going back for more and pretty soon, I was addicted. This sits on my skin thick and smooth like a purple velvet drape. It could have easily been too heavy but the tonka lightens it up, adding a sweet and playful edge. I'm not sure how I feel about the sesame. I keep sniffing at it but I kind of want a peanut butter sandwich now. I think I will need to wear this a few times to really get my head around it. Definitely intriguing.

Iris flower and salty, baked sesame nuttiness. There’s a tinge of grease from the sesame that emphasizes the waxy lipstick accord. The iris is cool with tonka bean adding warmth and sweetness in the base. Curiously powdery yet velvety and waxy at the same time. Almost like the texture of a powder to cream blush. I have an emotional attachment to this scent… I’ll spare you the reader, and not go into it. This could easily be repackaged as a $200+ niche bottle. Really something special.

Now this is femme fatale I have been loving this gem. Me and my sister used it when we were in college. People always ask us about it. So feminine, dark feminine, alluring, and sexy. It smells like a new makeup, but it fills the whole room with it, and there is always someone asking who is smelling good . I’m sure it’s discounted

Yes, this does smell a great deal like Lipstick On. But mostly I get cherry Chapstick, vinyl, and buttered popcorn on a bed of sparkly amber. The saltiness and savoriness of the sesame note is unlike anything I've smelled in a perfume before. I gave up my first bottle of this because the sesame ruined it for me. Now I quite like it, and I'm spraying my little bottle with abandon even though it's discontinued. L'Ange Noir is warm, sweet, powdery, and girly, which I'm now realizing is pretty much my criteria for an easy reach. It never ceases to amaze me how each new thing you smell has the potential to change your impression of things you are quite sure you already "know" and "remember." If I had been more experienced with iris notes and their oddities, I might have liked L'Ange Noir better the first time around. In this case, experience + a second chance = flaming fondness <3

~ “Radiant as an angel, Elusive as the darkness.” ~ My Thoughts. : I really enjoy this perfume when the weather is a bit on the colder side. I really love the deep dark powdery sweetness of this perfume. It's kind of spicy too and which makes it totally different from other powdery sweet fragrances. It's a really well blended perfume. Some may find it a bit masculine. But to me it's a strong & elegant scent for a grown up woman who knows what she wants. In summer it may feel s bit cloying because of the nutty sweetness and powdery smell. But for colder weather it's perfect. L’Ange Noir is a nice option for date nights cause it's sexy, seductive and mysterious. If you love nutty powdery iris based scents with a spicy touch then give this perfume a try.

In character, it reminds me a bit of Bvlgari Black and the new Byzance Rochas. But with Givenchy-like sensitivity. Bvlgari Black is more masculine and challenging, in comparison. Byzance Rochas less black and mysterious, rather creamy and spicy. It is well-done and likeable, but memorable. Exclusive. A bit of darkness, a bit of light. The bottle fits the scent very well. I like it. The name is very good, too. It does have a smooth, secretive, black angel-like presence. It is feminine but not overly so, it feels warm. I am thinking of licorice in milk with sesame seeds. Iris, a bit austere, a bit creamy. Nearly overpowered by chewy, woody, slightly gourmand aspects. 24 hours and I clearly feel it on me, but it does not annoy. I feel it better during evening and night, the scent is hiding during daytime close to the skin. It's winter, but around 10 degrees Celsius. And I nearly love it now. It is of great quality.

I’ve owned this one for a couple years now and used up a couple of bottles. It’s not at all the type of scent I “think” I like but it’s a scent I love. It’s way too soft for my taste, but the nutty iris is so addictive. I owned a few iris scents over the years. This is my favorite one of them all. So much so, I decluttered most of the others. It’s mostly an airy iris with a really interesting nutty thing that took me awhile to recognize, but once I did, I realized it’s what makes this so special. Usually I dislike strong almond notes as they turn to play doh on me. No play doh here, not once. I get more toasted sesame. A subtle sweetness like the toasting of bread. Pure clean flowery iris without any soapy notes, without coming off too makeupy. That’s about it, but that’s enough. You will crave this the way you crave carbs. I find this scent pairs really well with leather. Going for a drive in a fancy car, wearing a pair of black leather pants with a silk blouse. It’s chic, dark, only slightly sweet, and cooler than everyone else in the room. If perfumes were Spice Girls, this would be Posh. Never smiling. Always looking flawless. Grown ass woman. It works well in all weather except scorching heat and sun, which burns it off. But it works on summer nights very well. It has a light floweriness that makes it feel pretty in the spring. Perfect in fall. Fancy in winter. It lasts on clothing for a few days. I can still slightly smell myself the next day. But sometimes this one hangs out really close to the skin and can be a bit fleeting. I still love it though. I wish there were more iris scents like this. I don’t know what I’m going to do once i can’t buy it anymore. This is so much better (and nothing like) the other angel/demon flankers in this line. Definitely shouldn’t have been discontinued.

What a beauty this one. It’s a 50’s vixen in a silk slip and black silk robe with curlers in her hair, sitting at a vanity applying a deep red lipstick. I blind bought this bottle years ago, took a quick sniff and it was promptly spirited away to some deep dark corner of my bedroom. To a place where my perfumes generally go to die. I didn’t care for it then, and I can’t figure out why on earth not. Because now I can’t stop sniffing my wrist. I didn’t care for iris before I guess, but my nose must have evolved, as now it is a delight! It’s a woody iris and vanilla scented lipstick with an ever so slight hint of rubber. The later I believe is coming from the sesame seed note. It’s nothing serious like the rubber smell in Bvlgari Black for instance. This is very subdue. Just a whisper and it gives the fragrance some smokiness and depth along with some ambrette. I also get a little unsweetened nuttiness from almond It’s cold and gothic, while also being sensual. Not beast mode, but it does leave a rather large scent bubble of gorgeousness around you for the first hour or so and then it settles down closer to the skin. While I would say this fragrance is best suited for the fall and winter months, it could certainly be worn all year round. Day or night. This one has really charmed me. I’m so happy to have rediscovered it amongst its many fallen companions. It has now earned its own spot among the chosen ones.

Lol, of COURSE this is apparently discontinued. I freaking love this scent. Femme Fatale is right—this is a vintage vixen sitting at her vanity in a satin slip. I want to say I think this could be pulled off in the summer, but I could also see it giving me a headache maybe. Still, though, I hope I can track down a full bottle at some point.

Dark Iris with Almond & Oily Sesame Tahini... My first impression was that this wasn't sweet enough - almost unsweetened, but as the vanilla has aged I feel the sweetness is just right to be able to appreciate the sesame. This only gets better with time, both in the bottle and on the skin. Opens with a burst of almond supported by multi-faceted bergamot & accented by pink-pepper, that deepens into the white-iris & sesame heart with powdery, sweet, nutty, aromatic & soft-violet tones. You do get a vintage lipstick-y vibe here amongst the rich & nutty sesame-almond. The sesame here leans to an oily tahini. This all rests on a base of tonka, ambrette & amber. Tonka here is of the of the soft vanilla & tobacco-blossom variety, helping to continue the powdery, vanillic facets, and ambrette helping to continue the seed-like nuttiness and soft florals. Amber here is in the background tying all the other notes together. Alongside all of this I also get a faintly smoky, near-ashy vibe coming perhaps from the spiciness of pink-pepper combining with the ambreete, near tobacco-blossom of tonka and other powdery facets. Overall I get an iris-almond-sesame scent, and while there is some sweetness this isn't overly sweet, with excellent performance. It's a love for me, but needs to sweeten more: Enjoy! Contrast to Lipstick On Maison Martin Margiela: These are different, but there are striking similarities with the vintage lipstick vibe. Lipstick On is sweeter and much more vanilla forward. L'Ange Noir outperforms. Update 01/29/25: Sprayed this on this morning, and was pleased to notice the almond coming more forward now in the opening. That transitions rather quickly into the vintage lipstick vibe of the heart with iris-sesame. In the air there's a nice blooming effect coming from the iris. The ambrette is a little more toned down now with that charred/charcoal vibe in the background. It's a little sweeter now too, but not a lot sweeter. Still a very dark vibe of a scent overall, and still a love.

I really really REALLY wanted to love this because I adore powdery lipstick-y scents, and at first I thought I had found a more grown version of lolita by lolita lempicka — but then, suddenly, everything took a turn and the powdery goodness turned into something funky and almost diaper-like. no thank you!!!! it looks like I’ll have to stick with lolita for now…

Striking perfume. Divine. Lipstick heaven. The sesame note adds warmthy coziness but it's definitely a femme fatale scent in my opinion. It's a rare gem!

Thankfully I can’t smell any “rotting sesame seeds” 😄 But it strikes me as smelling masculine. It reminds me strikingly of The Body Shop’s 1990’s Mostly Musk oil, which was spicy rather than musky, but still beautiful! It doesn’t remind me in the slightest bit of “Lipstick On.” I can’t smell any lipstick. I like it. It was a safe blind buy for me - someone who likes strong, nostalgic scents.

I purchased this blindly based on a friend's recommendation (she owns a few backups of this one). I figured that a powdery lipstick scent couldn't go that back- and it didn't! Upon first spray, I do get the peppercorn and a violet (although not listed as a note). Then, after 10 minutes, the sesame and tonka begin to peek out. The iris remains in the backdrop, like a veil of feminine powder. It is powdery, but not overwhelming - just enough to remind one of an old cosmetic bag that draws up memories. I would wear this to bed and on a rainy day out. It's comforting but not tame. It has sex appeal but you're significant other will have to draw close to enjoy your scent. For the lovers of powdery scents without the mature vibe, this is worth getting your hands on, especially since it is now said to be discontinued.

If Dior Homme Intense and Dior Hypnotic Poison had a baby, their baby would be almost identical to Givenchy L'Ange Noir.I like both mentioned fragrances but I love their combination. I can smell tones of iris, almond and tonka here and actually I think I can detect sesame too.it's dusty and creamy at the same time. a powder heaven.iris is a tricky note for me and I hate it in a green or a soapy scent but matching it with vanilla or tonka and pairing it with my beloved almond saves it for me here. it's a sophisticated, classy and cozy scent. sexy in an adult, rich way. تصور کنید دیور هوم اینتنس و دیور هیپنوتیک پویزن بچه دار میشدن. بچه شون میشد این عطر

this starts with one of those carrot seed/earthy irises that smell like paper to me, with almond and hints of pink pepper. then i get that odd sesame note and some musk. amber and tonka comes on later...dries down to a soft cloud of mostly tonka. pretty and cozy to me...not really dark or sultry like others have mentioned. maybe a tiny bit sultry, but to me it's more of a rainy spring day perfume.

I got this once, sold it. Missed it so bad and bought it again. This time I'm not letting it go, as this has been discontinued and it is getting harder and harder to find each time. I have some Replica Lipstick On samples that I used to compare to this fragrance, and while they do have some similarities, they are not exactly the same. I rather much prefer this one. The sesame seed note is so beautiful and divine in this scent! I do not have any other perfumes with this note, but I am a HUGE lover of "grain" notes, like Rice, Oats, Wheat, Barley, etc. Anything cereal I'm in for it! This perfume is so unique, if I didn't know this was a Givenchy fragrance, I would totally believe this was a Niche frag. I do not have anything else like it in my collection and I think this deserved more attention than what it got.

“Nutty Flour” this is the ugliest, tackiest bottle I’ve ever had. makes me think of something sold at the Disney store to correspond with a villainous character from a children's movie. the scent though! the scent is interesting and unique. smells quirky and niche. for me the almond and sesame are the strongest elements. this is a nutty, almond sesame powder. I don’t get much else and I don’t think of lipstick or cosmetics at all. this to me is along the lines of L’Artisan Bois Farine, Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau and Teo Cabanel Je Ne Sais Quoi. It’s a non-sweet gourmand. like a nutty flour. delicious, savory, cozy and unusual. longevity is good but sillage is very low. PS this smells good on skin, but is medicinal on clothing. scent 8/10 longevity 6.5/10 bottle 0/10
